    The comparison between the concept of sexual and reproductive rights and the idea of gender and the Christian culture of the body with its personalist anthropology reveals their essential differences. The concept of reproductive rights is permeated with individualism, where sex identity can be freely defined, and sexual activities of individuals-provided that they stay within the boundaries of law-are not subjected to any moral norms. The main point of the disagreement between the concept of reproductive rights and the Christian culture of the body concerns the meaning of human corporeality. For the former, human body is, in a certain way, an ‘outside’ of the self-determining subject. According to the latter view, human body participates in man’s dignity as his constituent dimension. Another difference revolves around the meaning of sexual activity. Efforts to force implementation of sexual and reproductive rights, along with gender informed law and culture, are dangerous to the fundamental group unit of society-the family-based on the marriage between man and woman.

    Artykuł przedstawia zagadnienie macierzyństwa kobiet z niepełnosprawnościami, rozumianego zarówno jako indywidualne doświadczenie, jak również jako konstrukt społeczny. Na podstawie wywiadów biograficznych oraz warsztatów autorki wskazują na najważniejsze czynniki kształtujące prawa reprodukcyjne kobiet z niepełnosprawnościami wzroku, słuchu oraz ruchu. Poruszone zostają zagadnienia takie jak: tabuizacja seksualności, bariery w dostępie do opieki ginekologicznej, brak adekwatnej edukacji seksualnej, a także często negatywna ocena możliwości pełnienia roli matki, dylematy związane z możliwością dziedziczenia niepełnosprawności czy zapewnienia odpowiedniej opieki dziecku. Pokazany zostanie wpływ uwarunkowań społeczno-ekonomicznych na możliwość pełnienia roli matki. Tekst kończy się próbą odpowiedzi na pytania o nowy model macierzyństwa kobiet z niepełnosprawnościami.
    The article presents the problem of motherhood of women with disabilities understood both as an individual experience and as a social construct. Based on biographical interviews and on the workshop material the authors indicate the most important factors in the sphere of reproductive rights of women with vision and hearing impairments as well as physical disabilities. The article discusses tabuization of sexuality, barriers of access to gynecological care, lack of adequate sexual education as well as frequently negative assessment of the ability to perform as a mother, dilemmas regarding the possibility of genetically transmitting the disability and providing the child with appropriate care. The impact of socioeconomic conditions on the possibility to perform the role of a mother is also demonstrated. The text concludes with a tentative answer to the question regarding a new model of motherhood of women with disabilities.

    This article recommends the promotion of moral competence in the health and pharmacy professions to enable them to respect human and patient health rights with a focus on the provision of reproductive and sexual health care services. In certain cultures, health care and drug providers follow their conscientious objection (conscience clause) and decline to perform specific health services, including the provision of legal contraceptives in cases protected by legal and human rights. Such malpractices may violate patients’ and purchasers’ legitime rights. The article also presents findings obtained in Poland with N=121 women experimentally interviewed to examine their experiences as contraception purchasers, to assess their preference concerning facing human vs. robotic pharmacists, to manage the risk of refusal argued by the conscientious objection, and to score their moral competence with one of the dilemmas included in the MCT by G. Lind. This study demonstrated that purchasers with higher C-score (C for moral competence) would not just prefer a robotic pharmacist without a ‘conscience’ but, rather, a competent sales staff able to instruct the patient and advice her on any related queries. It further results that participants with higher moral competence are thus less likely to trust the medical expertise of artificial intelligence. We conclude that public institutions in pluralistic societies must manage normative reproductive health contexts more inclusively, and the election, education, and practice of health professionals in the public health care sector require the development of a normative mindset toward respecting the rights of all patients instead of respecting them selectively at the diktat of particularistic conscience.

    Opis:
    In this paper we present the opportunities and obstacles of implementation of holistic sexuality edu- cation in the group of mentally handicapped children and adults in Slovakia. We describe the example of good practice of sexuality education in one special school on the background of survey results of educational needs of Slovak teachers in this education area (N = 95 participating schools). The results illustrate the persistent lack of understanding of sex education, but also of adequate education of teachers working with healthy and disabled children.

    The article is aimed at the analysis of literature, international documents, legal regulations and research reports on the implementation of formal sexuality education in selected countries. There are many contradictions among researchers about the definition of sexuality education, its scope, the age from which it should be taught and learnt, people who should be its providers, its content and forms. These discrepancies are also present in the public sphere, where two strongly polarized discourses (the conservative and liberal) exist. National policies regarding sexuality education vary in the European Union. In some countries sexuality education has the status of a compulsory subject, is regulated by relevant acts, similarly to teachers training for this subject. In others, sexuality education curricula lack solid legal and theoretical basis. The analysis of selected documents and acts shows that the most effective type is the holistic sexuality education, which being part of the cultural sensitivity approach, addresses the development of knowledge and skills of education recipients, as well as the elaboration of appropriate attitudes towards positive sexuality and sexual and reproductive health. The existing research indicates also that the availability of data on sexuality education should be improved and further analysis is needed to enable better assessment of the situation, to ensure the evidence-based policy creation and strengthen the best identification practices.
    Celem artykułu jest analiza literatury, międzynarodowych dokumentów, przepisów prawnych i raportów z badań dotyczących realizacji formalnej edukacji seksualnej w wybranych krajach. Wśród badaczy edukacji seksualnej istnieją rozbieżności co do samej jej definicji, zakresu, wieku, od którego powinna być prowadzona, środowisk, w jakich ma przebiegać, osób, które mają się nią zajmować, oraz jej form i doboru treści. Te rozbieżności są obecne także w sferze publicznej, gdzie istnieją dwa silnie spolaryzowane i wzajemnie się wykluczające dyskursy (konserwatywny i liberalny). Polityki krajowe w Unii Europejskiej w odniesieniu do edukacji seksualnej są także zróżnicowane. W niektórych krajach edukacja seksualna ma status przedmiotu obowiązkowego, jest regulowana odpowiednimi przepisami, podobnie jest w przypadku kształcenia nauczycieli tego przedmiotu. W innych krajach programy edukacji seksualnej nie mają solidnych podstaw prawnych i teoretycznych. Analiza wybranych dokumentów pozwala stwierdzić, że najbardziej efektywny jest typ edukacji holistycznej, który wpisując się w podejście dotyczące wrażliwości kulturowej, odnosi się do rozwoju wiedzy i umiejętności odbiorców edukacji oraz wypracowania odpowiedniej postawy na rzecz pozytywnej seksualności, zdrowia seksualnego i reprodukcyjnego. Istniejące badania wskazują ponadto, że należy poprawić dostępność danych nt. edukacji seksualnej oraz prowadzić dalsze analizy, aby umożliwić lepszą ocenę sytuacji, zapewnić tworzenie polityki opartej na dowodach i wzmocnić identyfikację najlepszych praktyk.
