    This study analyses the names of the colours used by the author of the reportages. The research method is based on finding answers to the following questions: What colours does the author write about? Which of them prevail? What do they refer to? What stylistic functions do the names of the colours fulfill? What names appear in various colour fields? What parts of speech are the colours represented by? The lexicon of colour words in the reportages under consideration is quite rich. Colours are related to people, animals, plants, landscapes and artefacts, and their function is to describe the appearance of the characters and their beauty, depict their clothing and their mental state, portray the reality of the Borderlands, mainly the landscape. Most often, they are used as epithets. The names in the colour field are not ifferentiated. Colours are most often represented by adjectives, less frequently by nouns, verbs, active and passive participles and adverbs. Occasionally, adjectival compounds are used.

    The article is focused on accounts of journeys in Sicily performed by Polish columnists and historians in the period of 1949-1989. In other words it embraces almost half century of history of Poland that went through one of the most difficult moments in its days. Lack of freedom of expression, lack of freedom of movement throughout Europe resulted in a situation that only few could travel by establishing positive relationships with the communist authorities. Descriptions of Sicily from that period published by both writers (Marian Brandys, Jarosław Iwaszkiewicz) and historians (Joanna Olkiewicz), as well as publicists (Waldemar Łysiak, Marian Kałuża) present the island in a biased and shallow way. Beside Iwaszkiewicz book, which at times evokes Krasiński journals, we can deal with accounts focused on widely criticized political and economic situation. Thanks to those descriptions Polish readers, during the regime, could have consolidated their belief as to the poor life conditions in the West (particularly in Sicily). What is more there would be nothing to regret if they weren’t able to reach those destinations. It constitutes a radical difference with the way of depicting Sicily in XVIII and XIX century by Polish travelers. Then the island was presented in poetic and colorful way, and the descriptions were really encouraging to travel.

    Artykuł zawiera tezę wyjściową, że zadaniem edukacji polonistycznej jest nie tylko wprowadzanie młodych ludzi w tradycję kulturową, ale również objaśnianie im świata współczesnego. Rzeczywistość otaczająca uczniów powinna być trwałym punktem odniesienie w procesie nauczania. Skutkiem przyjęcia takiego założenia jest kolejna teza, iż wymaga to aktualizacji teorii dydaktycznych określających cele i sposoby nauczania i uczenia się. W artykule przedstawiono różne sposoby (wymiary) realizacji tego zadania oraz zarys propozycji czytania reportaży w perspektywie geopoetyki jako jeden z przykładów wspomnianej aktualizacji.
    The article contains a starting thesis that the task of Polish language education is not only to introduce young people into cultural tradition, but also explain to them the modern world. The reality surrounding students should be a permanent point of reference in the teaching process. The result of adopting such an assumption is another thesis that requires updating the didactic theories defining the goals and methods of teaching and learning. The article presents various ways (dimensions) of the implementation of this task and an outline of proposals for reading reportages in the perspective of geopoetics as one of the examples of the mentioned update.

    Die Thematik des vorliegenden Beitrages nähert sich der Besprechung des Begriffes ,Sehnsucht‘ in den auf Galizien bezogenen Reportagen von Martin Pollack. Einen methodologischen Einstieg bildet die familiäre Vorgeschichte Pollacks, die sich vor dem Hintergrund geschichtlicher Umwälzungen abspielt, wie auch die eigenen Erlebnisse und Beobachtungen des Autors während seiner Reisen durch Galizien. Im Zentrum der Betrachtung steht die Frage, wie Pollack den historischen Raum (re)konstruiert und ihn in ästhetisch-literarisch nachzeichnet. Pollack setzte sich zum Ziel seiner Reportagen die (Neu)Entdeckung Galiziens anhand der individuellen sowie kollektiven Erinnerungen.  
    Tematyka artykułu oscyluje wokół omówienia pojęcia ,tęsknoty’ w reportażach o Galicji Martina Pollacka. Z metodologicznego punktu widzenia podstawę do badań stanowi rodzinna biografia autora w odniesieniu do przeobrażeń historycznych, jak również osobiste przeżycia i spostrzeżenia autora podczas jego podróży po Galicji. W centrum uwagi znajduje się pytanie, jak Pollack (re)konstruuje przestrzeń historyczną i zobrazowuje ją w sposób estetyczno-literacki. Pollack stawia sobie za cel swoich reportaży nowe odkrycie Galicji na podstawie wspomnień indywidualnych oraz zbiorowych.         
    The subject of the article oscillates around the discussion of the concept of ‘longing’ in Martin Pollack’s reportages about Galicia. From a methodological point of view, the basis for research is the author's family biography in relation to historical transformations, as well as the author’s personal experiences and observations during his journey through Galicia. The focus is on the question of how Pollack (re)constructs historical space and depicts it in an aesthetic and literary way. Pollack aims to discover Galicia based on individual and collective memories.
