The constant monitoring of the technical condition of the coke oven battery and execution of the appropriate maintenance activities is one of the most impotent principle for prolongation of the coke oven battery exploitation life. The problem for discussion is always the method of repair according to the individual exploitation and economical situation of the coke plant. All repair methods have advantages and disadvantages and the outcome of the repair depends on many factors. This paper describes the complexity of the repair decisions and its outcome from today perspective based on the experience of the conducted 10 years ago the repair of the coke plant Jadwiga coke oven battery. The repair method is described in details and the modifi cations of the method based on the experience collected during the repair execution. It is also pointed out why this repair method and individual technological solutions were used.

Opis:
The challenge to the manufacturer or service provider is how to assess and define true customer expectations and then how to design, manufacture and sell the product to best meet those expectations. Each product must provide operational capabilities, which allow military forces to maintain technical and logistic superiority over a potential adversary even if it is just natural or induced environment, which can be expected over the operating and maintenance portion of life cycle. Battle damage repair is a critical factor in managing operation. We acknowledge that traditional cost minimizing measures are not always central and other performance measures such as time of repair, reliability and availability become more relevant. Assessing aircraft damages in the field and making appropriate decisions on the reparability, making repairs at the lowest repair level possible and evaluating airworthiness of subsequent repairs is critical to the air forces maintaining its force projection capability. Among other, combat damage of helicopters, damaged areas and erosion on leading edges of the compressor first stage rotor blades, achievable and optimum solution, goal function – duration minimisation, goal function – cost minimisation are presented in the paper.

At two different times, Time 1 and Time 2, 13 participants in Japan (8 Japanese and 5 Americans) were asked to spontaneously respond in English to this prompt: "Tell me about one of the most exciting or dangerous moments in your life." The Japanese responded during their first and fourth years of college, which involved an interval of 42 months. The Americans were native speakers of English and responded earlier and later in their one year study abroad program in Japanese language and culture. Three questions addressed by this paper were the following: (a) What types of topics and narrative structures characterize these 26 stories? (b) What types of speaker-initiated repairs appear, and are the repairs the same or different at Time 1 and Time 2? (c) How are the repairs related to different listener (American, Japanese, Filipino, and Taiwanese) assessments of the intelligibility of the narratives?

The publication features the aspects of remote diagnostics of mining machines and the benefits resulting from such solutions. Special focus was put on drill rigs and roof bolt setters operating in the mines where there is not developed infrastructure of internal network. There are many such mines in the world. As a result of that, it is necessary to meet the clients' needs with consideration of the lowest possible costs of machines servicing and maintenance.

Monitoring stanu techniczno-technologicznego i podejmowanie na tej podstawie odpowiednich działań profilaktyczno- -remontowych to jedno z najistotniejszych zasad wydłużania żywotności baterii koksowniczych. Problemem otwartym w tym wypadku pozostaje jednak wybór stosownych metod postępowania w konkretnej sytuacji eksploatacyjno-ekonomicznej danej koksowni. Każda bowiem metoda postępowania posiada swoje wady i zalety, zaś skuteczność przedsiębranych działań remontowych zależy od bardzo wielu czynników. W niniejszym artykule, bazując na przykładzie przeprowadzonego 10 lat temu remontu baterii w Koksowni Jadwiga, przedstawiono zarówno złożoność podejmowanych wówczas decyzji remontowych, jak i ich skutków z dzisiejszej perspektywy. Omówiono szczegółowo technologię przejętej wówczas metody jej remontu oraz modyfikacji będących wynikiem zbieranych w trakcie jego trwania doświadczeń. Wskazano czym podyktowany był wybór zastosowanej metody remontu i poszczególnych rozwiązań technologicznych.

In this paper there have been presented results of an analysis of repair efficiency for an emergency repair subsystem (technical service units) in a selected transportation system. The research object was a real system of municipal transportation, in a given urban agglomeration. Experimental data, necessary to determine values of indexes describing efficiency of repairs performed by the technical service units, come from a selected group of technical objects (city buses) used in the analyzed system. The data was obtained on the basis of experimental tests conducted within the studied system, employing a method of passive experiment, in conditions natural for the technical objects functioning. This work presents a method according to which the values have been determined and the analysis of efficiency of repairs performed within the emergency subsystem has been made. The values of repair efficiency assessment concern selected systems of the analyzed buses. The selection of these systems was made taking into consideration the number of the studied systems failures. The obtained results have been demonstrated in the form of tables and graphically, in charts. On this basis, there has been made an analysis of efficiency of repairs performed by emergency repair units. Due to its general character, the presented method can be used for an assessment of repair efficiency both within operation and maintenance systems of technical objects of different types and efficiency of repairs performed at particular repair stations, groups of stations or subsystems providing vehicles with serviceability.

Opis:
The sealing of shaft cast iron tubing within a tubing Inter-rib niche is often needed during overhauls and repairs of a shaft lining. Leakages or scratches and fractures can occur within the area of individual tubing of the shaft lining. The Przedsiębiorstwo Budowy Szybów S.A. developed special method for the sealing in question. Around the sealed area, a closed circumference groove of a depth smaller than the tubing thickness is made in the inner shaft lining. The sealing element is placed in this groove and then tightened with a spatial insert, with a hole for the injection of the sealing medium. A specially designed milling machine is used for groove making in the tubing lining of the mine shaft. The milling machine is composed of: power transmission system, special construction for mounting the milling machine to tubing and advance mechanism. The milling machine is driven by a battery drill-driver, and the whole device is mounted to the tubing with the use of specially designed guides with handles.

The fatigue test was carried out on an element of a rotor blade removed from the Mi-2 helicopter. The purpose of the test was to check the fatigue strength of the repaired rotor blade. Metal composite rotor blades have a metal spar in the form of a box and the trailing sections in the form of metallic honeycomb sandwich panels. The trailing sections are bonded to the spar. The repair had been carried out at the point where the trailing section became debonded from the spar at the Air Force Institute of Technology in Warsaw using a methodology developed for carrying out repairs of rotor blades’ damage. All types of the Mi family helicopters are equipped with metal composite rotors blades. Depending on MTOW (Maximum Take-Off Weight) and destination of helicopters, blades differ in dimensions, but their design solutions are practically the same. For this reason, the developed repair methodology can be used for all characteristic rotor blades structures for Mi helicopters. The fatigue test was performed at the Łukasiewicz - Institute of Aviation in Warsaw, using a hydraulically driven fatigue machine. The fatigue test was carried out by performing over 1.1 million load cycles. In repair places, upon completion of fatigue testing, no damage was found.

Based on statistical analysis of technical service companies we figured out some patterns of changes in the annual program of repair heads of cylinder blocks repairs of engines YaMZ-236 and the coefficient of variation of the daily batch of orders for repairs. We chose one technological station, which enables us to perform all the programs of repairs, and the duration of the process does not exceed one day. Due to the results of simulation modeling, the process of batches and service contracts for the repair of heads of cylinder blocks of engines YaMZ-236 we calculated the values of indicators for the guarantee-repair duration Tg: coefficient of the requirements satisfaction for warranty repair duration N and average duration of overguarantee downtimes θ in different years of the technological station working (and, respectively, for different values of the reservation capacity N) and for different values of TG (and, respectively, for different values of the time- reservation T) in the case of both direct (FIFO) and reverse (LIFO) order of execution. Based on statistical analysis of the results of mathematical modeling we determined the dependencies expectation М[N] and М[ θ ] of N and T for different priority of order fulfillment. Calculations of total costs were done, directly related to the technological costs for repairs and payment of penalties for violation of the order fulfillment of guarantee repair duration TG. Analysis of total dependences of the values of cost reservation capacity N made it possible to study the rational order of execution of orders for different values of the duration of warranty repair TG.

This article is another part of studies on Silesian organ building in the second half of the 20th century. The documents from Rudolf Kuźnik's private archive have not been published so far and they provide an important part of source materials. Analyses and statistics can support the research process, verification of the current situation based on autopsy. On the basis of collected documents we can say that Rudolf Kuźnik was very intense in his endeavours to protect tangible assets of the local Church. The organ building activity of post-war master craftsmen and journeymen was often underestimated. Sometimes their activity is evaluated unfairly and cursorily. Objective approach can be seen in taking into account the geopolitical environment of the region, access to high-quality raw materials or mere resourcefulness and wit of people in those days. These, as well as other aspects of activity turned journeymen into great, quite often silent promotors of their ancestors' traditions. Continuation of the art of organ building on land affected by war activities was a difficult task. Unfavourable conditions concerned the cultural property that was clearly related to religion. Rudolf Kuźnik started his activity thirty years after WWII when it was relatively easier than right after the war. His role in the field of rennovation in the area of the Diocese of Opole was, without doubt, significant. It was him who brought many instruments to “life”, which was surely a result of good cooperation between the Commission of Church Music and the parishes. Today it is estimated that there work hundreds of works performed for this local Church. Rudolf Kuźnik was born on the 27th of July 1944 in Rybnik. He developed his talent for organ building under the supervision of his uncle – Ludwik Kuźnik. He gained his journeyman diploma pretty soon and he started his intense activity in Upper Silesia and Opole Silesia. In 1981 he gained his master craftsman qualification. Following the consequences of the mining industry in Upper Silesia and the mining damages that appeared, he became an organ expert witness for the court. The preserved documents, oral accounts, intensified activity recommending his services clearly prove that he was reliable, very well educated in craftsmanship and a skilful organ builder. The documents also show that he offered favourable and adequate prices. This article presents his activity as proven by cost estimates, mensuration tables, instrument renovation, post-renovation documents as well as correspondence with the Theological and Pastoral Institute, Branch of the Catholic University of Lublin – Church Music School in Opole. According to sources from the organ builder's archive, his activity in the area of Opole diocese started in 1977. At that time, Rudolf Kuźnik often carried out renovation works together with Józef Latocha who, without doubt, helped the young organ builder enter the market, particularly in the area of Opole. The organ builder usually followed his routine: on-site inspection, preparation of cost estimate, renovation and warranty service of the instrument. He used Polish and foreign materials. His suppliers were local partners: wooden pipes were made by Czesław Gruszczyk and later by carpenter Jan Szaboń from Rybnik, metal pipes were ordered from Waldemar Lasota, Krakow. He used the following chemicals for maintenance: Xylamit, Antox, Xylamon and later also Hylotox.

The development of marine propulsion systems is prognosed in relation to the fuels of the near future. Presented is a concept of a subsystem supporting the maintenance of present and future propulsion systems. The author also demonstrates the achievements of the Maritime University of Szczecin in the designing and implementation of a system for marine propulsion system maintenance support.

The paper presents research on expedient repairs, including battle damage repair methods of hydro-pneumatic pipes with adhesives. According to analyzed publications concerning battle damage of military equipment, various pipes and lines, which are used in military vehicles and aircrafts, are one of the most often damaged parts during combat operations. During experimental tests, the efficiency of damaged pipes repair was researched. Various methods of repair depending on pressure in the pipe and sort of damage were considerate. To conduct experimental tests of repair two kind of adhesive were used. It was composite adhesive Belzona 1111, which is used by many armies of NATO, and epoxy adhesive Epidian 57 hardened with Z-1. The conducted experiments proofed that both low pressure and even high pressure hydro-pneumatic pipes can be repaired in the field conditions with considered adhesives. Presented methods of repairs can be very useful especially during combat operations when the access to spare parts and disposal time is limited. Using to repair the manufacturer’s composite adhesive without any strengthening should be limited to low pressure pipes. The specific properties of epoxy adhesives must be considered before applying to repair, especially change of mechanical and utilitarian features at higher temperature.
