Na przełomie XIX i XX wieku powstała we Francji większość instytutów zakonnych męskich i żeńskich w odpowiedzi na religijne i społeczne potrzeby ówczesnej Europy. Zakładane nowe zgromadzenia zakonne ubogacały Kościół specyficznymi formami czynnego życia apostolskiego, bazując na charyzmacie i misji swoich założycieli, a także bogatej duchowości zakonów mniszych, żebrzących i kleryckich. Osobiste pragnienie połączenia kapłaństwa z życiem zakonnym stało się dla ojca Leona Dehona inspiracją do założenia Zgromadzenia Księży Najświętszego Serca Jezusowego dla dobra Kościoła oraz osobistego uświęcenia jego członków.
    The reflection upon the Dehonian mission charism fits into the rich context of the history of religious life. At the turn of the 19th and 20th century most of the religious orders for men and women in France came into being, as the response to the social needs of Europe of that time. Shaping of the new religious orders enriched the Church with the specific forms of apostolic life, based on charisms and missions of their founders, and the rich spirituality of the orders of monks, beggars and clerics. Personal desire to combine both priesthood and religious life became the inspiration for Fr. Leon John Dehon to found the Congregation of the Priests of the Sacred Heart for the benefit of the Church and for the personal sanctification of its members.

    Tematem artykułu jest kwestia wydania przez zgromadzenie zakonne opinii psychologicznej sporządzanej w czasie okresu formacji osobie, której opinia dotyczy. Opinia psychologiczna zawiera dane osobowe. To oznacza, że taki dokument podlega regulacjom dotyczącym ochrony danych osobowych. Artykuł przedstawia tę problematykę w perspektywie prawa kanonicznego i odpowiada na pytanie: czy taką opinię należy wydać osobie, której dane dotyczą, a jeżeli tak, to jaką procedurę przyjąć. Odpowiedź jest następująca: co do zasady opinię należy wydać, zawsze jednak zachowując prawo innych osób do zachowania prywatności. Artykuł wskazuje na liczne wady Dekretu o ochronie danych osobowych.
    The subject of this article is the problem of issuing a psychological opinion by a religious congregation for the formation of a person to whom the opinion pertains. A psychological opinion contains personal data. This means that such a document is subject to regulations concerning the protection of personal data. This article presents this matter from the perspective of canon law and answers the question: should such an opinion be given to the data subject and if so, what procedure should be followed? The answer is as follows: in principle, the opinion must be given, but always with due respect for the right of other persons to privacy. The article points out also the numerous flaws of the Data Protection Decree of the Polish Bishops’ Conference.

    W artykule zaprezentowano najlepsze doświadczenia zgromadzeń zakonnych w historii opieki nad dzieckiem. W tradycji polskiej początki opieki zastępczej wiążą się z powstaniem pierwszych szpitali – przytułków, a następnie sierocińców zakonnych dla dzieci. Z dziejami Kościoła katolickiego splata się też geneza dawnych ochronek, archetypów dzisiejszych przedszkoli. Żeńskie zgromadzenia zakonne przyczyniły się również do wykreowania innych form opieki, jak żłobki czy modne swego czasu pogotowia opiekuńcze. Niniejsza analiza ukazuje aktywność sióstr zakonnych na każdym z wymienionych obszarów i przemiany, jakim podlegały najważniejsze formy opieki nad dzieckiem na przestrzeni wieków.
    The article presents the best experience of religious orders in the history of child care. In Polish tradition the origins of foster care are associated with the formation of the first monastic hospitals – almshouses for children and later monastic orphanages. The history of the Catholic Church is also connected with the origins of children’s homes, the archetypes of contemporary kindergartens. Female orders also contributed to the formation of other forms of care, including nurseries, or once fashionable shelter houses. This analysis presents the activity of nuns in each of these areas and the changes that have occurred in the major forms of child care over time.

    This paper describes the reforms of American religious sisters started byPius XII until the recent closure of Archbishop Peter Sartain’s commission.The paper shows how the reforms of congregations were taken up beforeand after the Council and how the two organisations representing Americansisters were founded. The continual dissent of LCWR from Churchteachings is shown in contrast to the fidelity of the alternative canonicalorganization, namely CMSWR. The lack of new vocations among LCWRsisters is a sign of mistaken reforms and the lack of attractive power intheir political agenda.

    Congregation for Catholic Education in Circular letter to the Presidents of Bishops’ conferences on religious education in schools (May 5, 2009) beholds the relationship between educational activity of the Church, which is the integral part of its mission, and decisions and wishes of the nations, which take care of the formation and development of a just society based on the respect for the human rights. In this formula can be found two fixed reference points of the Church regarding its mission in the modern world. The first is the permanent protection of the religious freedom and teaching religion, which are the part of the human rights. The second is the perception of the religious education as the part of the wider process of young people education. The consequence of such approach is the possibility of building the civil society based on religious and ethical values.

    In the introduction to his article, the author refers to a dissertation on the names of male religious orders and societies (cf. Sł. Oc. t., r. SIOc 69, 2012, s. 45-80; 3). The article has been broken down into three basic parts: I. names of female religious orders which have (earlier) male counterparts, e.g. filipinki : filipini, józefiłki : józefie: II. autogenic names which are not structures derived from male order names like e.g. precjozynki, sakramentki, III. various semantic and word-formation related issues. It turns out that most frequently, female names are formed with the feminative suffix -ka in singular or -ki in plural and the extended suffix -anka, -ynka in singular / -anki -ynki in plural. These formations are far less complex than in the masculine names. The source materials used by the author are the same as in analyses of male religious orders and societies; they are presented as a list of abbreviations at the end of the article.

    W trudnym okresie kasat domów zakonnych w zaborze pruskim, dokładnie na obszarze Wielkopolski, powstało Zgromadzenie Sióstr Służebniczek. Było to możliwe, z jednej strony dzięki determinacji jego założyciela Edmunda Bojanowskiego, z drugiej natomiast dzięki charakterowi posługi, której podjęła się ta nowa wspólnota. W niniejszym artykule przedstawiono historię powstania oraz pierwsze lata rozwoju wspólnoty służebniczek, dokładnie do 1871 roku, czyli do śmierci E. Bojanowskiego. Podjęty temat został przedstawiony głównie z perspektywy relacji nowego zgromadzenia, zarówno do władz kościelnych, jak i świeckich. Na przykładzie historii Zgromadzenia Sióstr Służebniczek ukazano, z jednej strony specyfikę nowych form życia konsekrowanego, które spotykamy w całym Kościele w XIX wieku (w tym również na obszarze Polski podzielonej między trzech zaborców), z drugiej natomiast także charakter okresu zaborów, w którym przyszło powstawać oraz funkcjonować tym nowym wspólnotom zakonnym.
    During difficult period of suppression of religious houses in the Prussian partition, exactly in the Wielkopolska region, the Congregation of Sisters Servants was established. This was possible, on the one hand, thanks to the determination of its founder, Edmund Bojanowski, and, on the other hand, thanks to the character of the ministry that this new community undertook. This article presents the history of the founding and the first years of development of the community of Sisters Servants, exactly until 1871, which is until the death of E. Bojanowski. The theme was presented mainly from the perspective of the relations of the new congregation to both church and lay authorities. On the example of the history of the Congregation of Sisters Servants was presented: on the one hand, the characteristics of the new forms of consecrated life that we encounter throughout the Church in the nineteenth century (including the partitions of Poland divided between the three invaders), on the other hand, the nature of the period of partition, in which the new religious communities were formed and functioned.

    W artykule przedstawiono nauczanie m. Teresy Kalkstein na temat powołania do życia zakonnego. Czwarta przełożona generalna Zgromadzenia Sióstr Zmartwychwstania Pańskiego wiele miejsca w swoich listach okólnych poświęca problematyce powołania zakonnego, począwszy od kwestii teoretycznych aż po praktyczne wskazówki dotyczące realizowania powołania w codzienności. Pomimo upływu czasu niektóre jej myśli nie tracą na aktualności, dlatego jej pisma wciąż mogą być pożyteczną i ciekawą lekturą dla osób konsekrowanych.
    In the article the teaching of Mother Teresa Kalkstein on the calling to religious life is presented. The fourth General Superior of the Congregation of the Sisters of the Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ devoted a lot of attention to the religious vocation, including the theoretical questions and practical suggestions of carrying one’s vocation in everyday life. Despite the passage of time, some of her thoughts have remained relevant. That is why her writings can still be a useful and interesting reading for the consecrated persons.

    For the present background study, the author has researched reliable sources of information and references such as the Catholic Encyclopedia (EK), Dictionary of Religious Orders (LZ), the History of the Church in Poland (BHKK, Um), as well as other available material. The basic descriptive data include: the year of the foundation, the founder or founders, the colloquial name of the order and congregation, the formal Polish name and its Latin equivalent, the recognized abbreviation to designate the order and, if applicable, the female counterpart order, and, finally, the associations of lay Christians, the so-called Third orders or Tertiaries (from Latin tertiarius). Religious orders (Lat. ordines in plural form and ordo in sing.) and religious congregations (Lat. congregatio (sing.), congregationes (pl.)), were also known as societies (Lat. societas (sing.), societates (pl)) and, as a rule, had taken their names from: their founders, for example, the Order of Saint Benedict (Benedictines), Dominicans and Franciscans, from the biblical description of Christ, e.g. the Congregation of the Holy Redeemer, better known as the Redemptorists (from Latin Redemptor ‘Redeemer’, Salvatorians (from Latin Salvator ‘Saviour’, from the names of the Blessed Virgin Mary, e.g. Assumptionists (from Latin (in caelum) Assumpta ‘Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary’, the Conceptionists (Ordo Immaculatae Conceptionis) ‘Immaculate Conception’, and from names of hills and mountains, e.g. Carmelites or Olivetans, from the particular forms of Christian monastic living, such as the Acoemetae (Akoimetai), Anchorites, Cenobities, Dendrites and Eremites. The author distinguishes 12 ways of forming the so-called “monachonyms”, i.e., ‘names of religious orders and monastic congregations’, that include: suffixes: -(j)anin, e.g. Polish “bazylianie, norbertanie” ; -ita

    Opis:
    Formacja do ślubu ubóstwa jest jednym z elementów formacji osób konsekrowanych zmierzającej do życia radami ewangelicznymi. W Zgromadzeniu Księży Najświętszego Serca Jezusowego wszystkie śluby zakonne wpisane są w rys wynagradzający Instytutu oraz otrzymują wymiar oblacyjny, podkreślający całkowite oddanie się Bogu poprzez konsekrację. Dokumenty Zgromadzenia obok celu i różnych aspektów formacji określają również istotę ślubu ubóstwa, zachęcając do życia jego duchem. Celem formacji jest kształtowanie serca zakonnika, który coraz bardziej winien odzwierciedlać w sobie sposób życia ubogiego, jaki obrał Jezus Chrystus. Formacja ta ma także wymiar wspólnotowy, gdyż wspólnota winna stawać się świadkiem dóbr nieprzemijających, w czym wyraża się jej wymiar profetyczny.
    Formation towards the vow of poverty is one of the elements of the preparation of consecrated persons aimed at living according to evangelical counsels. In the Congregation of the Priests of the Sacred Heart of Jesus all three vows are inscribed in the figure of reparation characteristic for the Institute as well as oblation dimension which underlines total devotion to God through religious consecration. The documents of the Congregation besides the goals and various aspects of formation also set out the essence of the vow of poverty, encouraging life with its spirit. The goal of formation is to shape the heart of a religious person, who supposed to more and more reflect in himself the way of life of the poor which was chosen by Jesus Christ. That formation has also the community dimension, through which the religious community should become a witness of non-remissive goods and thus its prophetic dimension.

W omawianym rękopisie nutowym zachowały się wpisane anonimowo przekazy melodii oraz teksty w języku polskim pierwszych zwrotek 7 pieśni religijnych (utwory maryjne, ku czci świętych, przygodne) bazyliańskiego misjonarza o. Tymoteusza Szczurowskiego (1740–1812). Dzięki zachowanym w źródle inskrypcjom wiadomo, że pieśni Szczurowskiego były wykonywane na przełomie lat trzydziestych i czterdziestych XIX w. przez warszawskich bazylianów, a także przez unickiego duchownego o. Pawła Szymańskiego (1782–1852), gdy w latach 1837–41 był profesorem Rzymskokatolickiej Akademii Duchownej w Warszawie. Linie melodyczne siedmiu pieśni Szczurowskiego pochodzące z rękopiśmiennych nutowych arkuszy Muzyka 15 pokrywają się z melodiami ich drukowanych przekazów opublikowanymi przez ks. Michała Marcina Mioduszewskiego CM (1787–1868) w Dodatku do Śpiewnika kościelnego (Kraków 1842) i Dodatku III do Śpiewnika kościelnego (Lipsk 1853). Omawiany w artykule rękopis zawierający nutowe przekazy polskojęzycznych pieśni z repertuaru unickiego z dużym prawdopodobieństwem mógł być sporządzony w środowisku warszawskich misjonarzy. Ocalały misjonarski rękopis Muzyka 15 umożliwia obecnie stwierdzenie faktu recepcji utworów unickiego autora, o. Szczurowskiego w środowiskach rzymskokatolickich dziewiętnastowiecznej Warszawy, a także przynosi nowe informacje na temat ówczesnych wykonawców jego pieśni w stolicy Królestwa Polskiego.
    Held in the Archive of the Congregation of the Mission, in Kraków’s Stradom district (shelf-mark Muzyka 15) are two sheets of a nineteenth-century music manuscript containing Uniate (Eastern Catholic) songs. The source probably originates from the collection belonging to the house of the Congregation of the Mission at the Church of the Holy Cross in Warsaw, which was sent from the capital to the Kraków missionaries’ archive most likely following the dissolution of this congregation in the Kingdom of Poland, which took place in 1864. Inscribed anonymously in this source are the melodies and Polish-language texts of the first stanzas of seven religious songs (Marian songs, songs to the cult of saints, and przygodne songs for the Ordinary Time in the liturgical year) composed by the Basilian missionary Father Tymoteusz Szczurowski (1740–1812). Thanks to inscriptions preserved in the source, we know that Szczurowski’s songs were performed in the late 1830s and early 1840s by Warsaw’s Basilian monks as well as by the Uniate clergyman Father Paweł Szymański (1782–1852), when he was a professor of the Imperial Roman Catholic Theological Academy in Warsaw (1837–41). The melodic lines of Szczurowski’s seven songs from the handwritten sheets of Muzyka 15 are the same as those printed by Father Michał Marcin Mioduszewski, CM (1787–1868) in Dodatek do Śpiewnika kościelnego [Supplement to the church songbook] (Kraków 1842) and Dodatek III do Śpiewnika kościelnego [Third supplement to the church songbook] (Leipzig 1853). The manuscript discussed in this paper, containing the music and words of Polish-language songs from the Uniate repertoire, is very likely to have been compiled in the environment of the Warsaw Congregation of the Mission. The surviving missionary manuscript Muzyka 15 enables us to confirm the reception of the Uniate Father Szczurowski’s output in the Roman Catholic environments of nineteenth-century Warsaw. It also provides us with new information concerning the performers of Szczurowski’s songs in the then capital of the (Congress) Kingdom of Poland.

Leona Dehona (1843-1925), artykuł podkreśla istotne punkty roli kapłaństwa w piśmiennictwie Dehona i jego charyzmatycznej realizacji w Zgromadzeniu, które założył. Określenie tego pojęcia przez poddanie go krytyce teologicznej uwidacznia pewne ograniczenia i rodzi pytanie, czy język kapłański używany przez Dehona odnosi się do wyjątkowej kontemplacji pełni misterium Jezusa Chrystusa, w której jako centralne ukazane jest wspólne kapłaństwo wiernych. Druga część artykułu analizuje konsekwencje dla tożsamości sercańskiej i przedstawia koncepcję „sercanina-kapłana” jako określenie, które najlepiej odzwierciedla to, co „proces charyzmatyczny” oferuje dzisiaj jako jedność powołania, tożsamości i przynależności.
    On the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the priestly ordination of Fr. León Dehon (1843-1925), this article highlights the relevant points of the role that the priesthood has in the written work of Dehon and in its charismatic fulfillment in the Congregation he founded. Determining the concept by subjecting it to theological criticism makes the limits of this approach evident, and raises the question whether the priestly language used by Dehon refers to a unique contemplation of the total mystery of Jesus Christ in which the common priesthood of the faithful is indicated as central. The second part examines the consequences for Dehonian identity and presents the concept of „Dehonian-priest” as the expression that best reflects what the „charismatic process” offers today as a unity of vocation, identity and belonging.

    Jehovah’s Witnesses have been present in Poland for over a hundred years. This period was full of various events affecting both their entire community and its individual members. Beginnings in the interwar period - partly as a legal association, but also as a group facing misunderstanding and attempts to make it illegal. The period of the Nazi occupation - tragic for the entire community and for individual believers who in concentration camps, wearing a purple triangle armband, were victims of this system. Poland of 1945-1989 is a stage that can be divided into several fragments - the legal beginning in 1945-1950, the years of banalization and Stalinist persecution - 1950-1956; illegal activity in the years 1956-1979 and the beginning of the road to legal existence in the 1980s. The last stage is the activity in free Poland - it is the period of legal activity from 1989 to the present day. All these stages in the history of Jehovah’s witnesses influence their perception in today’s reality of the Third Republic.
