    Opis:
    One of the problems of contemporary society is the understanding of sacrum - its place and meaning for the common day life. This article presents two sources that distinguishing sacrum / profanum - in space and time - entered into culture of the European society. The source of separating space into sacred and profane is the religiosity that is based on observation of nature. The source of separating time into this two spheres is the biblical religion. In the European culture this dual perception was introduced through Christianity (biblical tradition and metaphysics). The way how this perception functions in daily life reveals not only the attitude towards religion but above all projects on the understanding of dignity of a person.

    Artykuł ukazuje, w jaki sposób teologiczne założenia Reformacji przyczyniły się do powstania dyscypliny teologii biblijnej i teologii Starego Testamentu. Następnie przedstawia zarzuty, jakie stawiano teologii Starego Testamentu pod wpływem rozwoju biblistyki, a zwłaszcza historyczno-krytycznych metod egzegezy. W ostatniej części artykuł mówi o współczesnej potrzebie istnienia i rozwoju teologii Starego Testamentu.
    The article shows how the theological assumptions of the Reformation contributed to the formation of the discipline of Biblical theology and theology of the Old Testament. Next it presents objections to the theology of the Old Testament, which were a result of the development of Biblical studies, especially the historical-critical methods of exegesis. The final part of the article discusses the contemporary need for and development of theology of the Old Testament.

    Opis:
    The mysterious term „marzeah” occurs twice in the Old Testament. In the Book of Amos it stands for an aristocratic feast, whereas in the Book of Jeremiah we read about „the house of marzeah” meaning a place used for mourning for the dead. The texts from Ugarit provide us with more information. Thorough analysis of the texts implies that „marzeah” was an institution assembling people representing upper social classes. At least one of its aims was cult of the dead. It clearly resembles mesopotamian „kipsu” – a ritual feast where people called their ancestors to „eat bread and drink water”. In the Bible it is a clear example of the trait of pagan beginnings of Israel, whose elements in their fragmentary form lasted until VI century B.C.

    Opis:
    The Book of Leviticus appears as a compilation of fragmentary cultic and ethical prescriptions, coming from different periods of religious history of Israel. The synchronic analysis, started by Mary Douglas, proved that the editor of final version of Leviticus was a great artist, with a religious goal. Leviticus is a book that presents multiple layers of meaning. In this article the Book of Leviticus was considered from the Religionswissenschaft point of view. The text was divided on a major blocks according to its theme, and then asked what message was delivered through each one of them; and subsequently, what was message of the whole Book. Careful analysis of vocabulary, as well as the time and place of action, allow to suggest a new structure - the four final chapters might serve as the endings for three blocks of text. The theme leads the reader from the temple to the community; from the present to the future.
