    In this paper we do point out in the first place what is social modernization, and then we talk about the relations of social modernization and religiosity: a) the notion of social modernization, b) social modernization and secularization, c) social modernization and desecularization, d) socio-cultural pluralism and religion. Social modernization doesn’t have to therefore to lead into more and more efficient removal of religion from the public sphere, until it will be absolutely eradicated. Until recently, it was assumed in sociology that there’s a correlation between social modernization and religiosity; mostly unilateral: the more modernization we have the less religiosty there is and the more a society is modernized the more secular it is. Today, more often we speak of many variants of modernization and only few of them are inevitably related to modernity and social modernization (secularization is taken here as an intergral part of modernization).

    How we speak of and write about stands, or at least it should stand, in relation what we speak of and write. If such a relation does not exist, or it is little visible for the people involved in the written or spoken message there might occur and often they do important doubts by the latter on its intention or even the assumption of bad intention. However, the existence of a clear dissonance between how we speak and write and what we speak of and write about tends many of these people addressed to perceive it as someone who breaks the norms prevailing in such speaking and writing. Those situations took place and still do often when we speak of and write about religion and religiosity without a sort of deliberation that is linked to seriousness and pompousness or even exaltation. In these remarks I do recall examples of such speaking on one side presented by libertines like M. Montaigne and Voltaire, and on the other by theologisans like St. Augustine. M. Luther and J. Tischner.

    W poszukiwaniu socjologicznych podstaw pedagogiki religii autor artykułu zwraca uwagę tylko na wybrane kwestie, jak teorie socjologii religii (część teoretyczna) i socjalizację religijną oraz nauczanie religii w szkole (część empiryczna). Takie pojęcia jak religia, religijny, religijność stanowią przedmiot rozważań zarówno socjologii, jak i pedagogiki religii. Socjologiczne teorie religii, socjologiczne teorie przemian religijności we współczesnym świecie mogą być przydatne w budowaniu pedagogicznych koncepcji religii i religijności, właściwych dla pedagogiki religii. Empiryczna socjologia religii - poprzez swoje badania - uwrażliwia wszystkie podmioty edukacyjne na nowe zjawiska religijne i kościelne, zmieniające się ustawicznie w nowych uwarunkowaniach społeczno-kulturowych. Współpraca między pedagogiką i socjologią religii jest możliwa i potrzebna, ale powinna być niesłychanie ostrożna. Każda dyscyplina naukowa ma swoją odrębność teoretyczną i metodologiczną. Socjologizacja pedagogiki religii byłaby czymś niewskazanym, a socjologiczna pedagogika religii - czymś absurdalnym.
    In a search for sociological foundations of religious pedagogy, the author of the article focuses on some selected questions like the sociological theories of religion (the theoretical part) and the socialization of religion and the religious education in school (the empiric part). Such ideas like religion, religious, religiosity create a core of discussion both in sociology and in pedagogy of religion. Sociological theories of religion, sociological theories of religiosity changes in contemporary world can be useful in the construction of pedagogical concepts of religion and religiosity proper for pedagogy of religion. The empiric sociology of religion - through its study - sensitizes all educational subjects to the new religious and church phenomena and metamorphoses constantly in new socio-cultural conditions. The cooperation between pedagogy and sociology of religion is possible and valuable, yet it has to take place with caution. Socialization of religious pedagogy would be something unwelcome, and socialization of pedagogy of religion would be something absurd.

    The religiosity of scholars substantially differs from the patterns of religiosity observed in the general population. Scholars are, on average, less religious than nonscholars. Scholars who profess religious faith tend to separate themselves from their religious communities. They also criticize and question the religious truths and keep their faith for themselves, especially in the academic community. Although many scholars perceive the conflict between science and religion, they have the resources to deal with the conflict. This article attempts to explain the specificity of scholars’ religiosity in terms of cognitive mechanisms that make it possible to reconcile religion and science irrespective of whether they are logically coherent or not.

    Wyniki wielu badań potwierdzają, że religia jest jednym z ważnych czynników wpływających na wybór modelu państwa dobrobytu. W przypadku dość homogenicznej religijnie Polski duży wpływ powinny mieć idee i wartości katolickiej nauki społecznej. Chociaż po upadku komunizmu istniało społeczne oczekiwanie wprowadzenia rozwiązań wzorowanych na Republice Federalnej Niemiec, wybrano jednak odmienną drogę transformacji społeczno-gospodarczej, a w konsekwencji inny model zabezpieczeń społecznych. Celem artykułu jest ukazanie faktycznego oddziaływania idei i wartości zawartych w katolickiej nauce społecznej na kształtowanie się rozwiązań państwa dobrobytu w Polsce.
    The results of many studies confirm that religion is one of the important factors influencing the choice of the welfare state model. In the case of a relatively homogeneous religiosity of the Polish society, the ideas and values of Catholic social teaching should be of significant influence. Although after the fall of communism there was a social expectation of introducing solutions modelled on the Federal Republic of Germany, a different path of socio-economic transformation and, consequently, a model of social security was chosen. The aim of the article is to show the actual impact of the ideas and values contained in Catholic social teaching on the formation of welfare state solutions in Poland.

    In recent decades, interesting parallels have been created between sport and religion, which are mediated to humans. Sport, as a partial area of consumerism, is the bearer of spiritual and religious content. Syncretism is typical for the current post‑modern religiosity, how ever, this has gone beyond the merging of religions. Syncretism goes beyond its traditional religious range and combines religion/spiritu ality with the secular area of human life. Among them is sport. The actors mediating amorphous and drifting denominational spiritu ality are both the players themselves and sports commentators and journalists.
    W ostatnich dziesięcioleciach, między sportem a religią powstały inte resujące paralele, przekazywane ludziom. Sport jako obszar w ramach konsumpcji jest nośnikiem treści duchowych i religijnych. W bieżą cej ponowoczesnej religijności typowym zjawiskiem jest synkretyzm, który jednak przekracza obszar tradycyjnej religii i łączy się z religią/ duchowością w świeckich wymiarach ludzkiego życia. Wśród nich ma swoje miejsce i sport. Między aktorami mediującymi amorficzną i dryfującą wyznaniową duchowość są zarówno sami gracze oraz ko mentatorzy sportowi i dziennikarze.

    Na religijność jako na przedmiot zainteresowania naukowego można patrzeć wieloaspektowo. Jednym z tych aspektów jest postrzeganie wiary przez młodych ludzi mieszkających w Europie Środkowej. Praca dotyczy pojęcia i przeżywania religijności oraz jej rozumienia przez współczesną młodzież. W artykule przedstawiono inspirujące naukowo wyniki badań przeprowadzonych w ostatnich latach w północnej Słowacji w diecezji spiskiej wśród respondentów w wieku około 17-18 lat. Pojem a prezivanie religiozity mladych l’udi v stredoeurópskom regióne (Na podklade vyskumov religiozity mladeze z oblasti severneho Slovenska)Na religiozitu ako na predmet vedeckého záujmu možno hľadieť z viacerých aspektov. Jedným z nich je pohľad na náboženstvo vo svete vnímania viery súčasných  mladých ľudí, žijúcich v stredoeurópskom regióne. Štúdia sa zaoberá pojmom a kontextom religiozity a jej chápania spod zorného uhla prežívania viery a náboženských prejavov súčasnej mládeže. Prináša výsledky viacerých výskumov, uskutočnených v posledných rokoch na severnom Slovensku na území Spišskej diecézy medzi cca 17-18 ročnými respondentmi, čím prináša i škálu nových výskumných výsledkov, inšpiratívnych pre religionistiku ako vedu.
    Religiosity as a subject of scientific interest can be viewed in many ways. One of these aspects is the experiencing of faith by young people living in Central Europe. The work deals with the concept and experience of religiosity and its understanding by contemporary youth. The article presents the scientifically inspirational results of research conducted in recent years in northern Slovakia at the Spiš Diocese among respondents aged 17–18.
