Opis:
The machining allowance variation is significant for the reliability of a part during the machining process. Usually, when the machining allowance of a part increases, the machining and production cost also increase. When the machining allowance decreases, the machining surface will have defects. The parts will produce manyscraps andreliability will decrease. The machining allowance of a part consists of multiple process machining allowances. To analyze the impact caused by machining allowance variation, the hidden quality loss and process machining allowance are combined through theprocess capability index (PCI). Then the asymmetric quadratic quality loss function (AQF) and quadratic exponential function (QEF) are used to analyze them. A prediction model of hidden quality loss of process machining allowance is proposed. On the premise that the quality characteristic value obeys normal function distribution, a numerical model is given and used to obtain process machining allowance-inherent reliability of the product. The actual case is used to compare and verify the two models.

Opis:
In this paper, the researchers presented the process control analysis of a Poultry Wastewater (PWW) treatment plant that was designed to comply with the Environmental Quality (Industrial Effluent) Regulations, 2009. In this pilot case study, the researchers highlighted the fact that owing to the existing global environmental challenges, a Six Sigma approach needs to be used for developing a new technique that helps in optimising process capability and assesses the treatment reliability. This would allow the effective treatment of different pollutants like pH, BOD5, TSS, COD, O&G and NH3-N before their discharge into the environment. The researchers used several quality control process tools like the I-MR control charts, treatment process capability analysis and treatment reliability assessment in the study. After analysing the data, the researchers concluded that the plant could effectively treat NH3-N, as well as fairly decrease the pH, BOD5, and COD values, whereas it displayed low ability in treating TSS and O&G within the research period. The researchers noted that the process showed low reliability in the treatment of TSS and O&G, i.e., 88.6% and 29.8% respectively, led to the discharge of fine colloids in the effluent. This was attributed to problematic processes in the PWW treatment procedure, such as malfunction of the DAF unit process, ineffective physical-chemical treatment, and tertiary filtration breakdown. The researchers concluded that this PWW plant required additional control and design improvement so that it released a low concentration of toxic compounds in the effluent discharge, and complied with the standards. This research could be used as a reference for additional studies that aimed to improve the quality of the wastewater treatment processes.

Opis:
Purpose: The increasing internationalization of markets make the creation of competitive advantages more difficult. Companies have to be faster, better and more economical than their competitors in order to survive. Reliable products offer the capability to develop competitive advantages. To achieve the reliability objectives, a systematic approach of reliability actions and supporting methods is necessary. The integration of reliability activities into companies with regard to company size and industry has not been quantitatively determined. Methodology: An international survey drawing upon literature was applied. Evaluations are based on descriptive and inductive statistics. Results: The empirical study reveals reasons for applying reliability management in industry, the extent of applied reliability methods and performed reliability actions to achieve reliability objectives and used reliability data. The results are differentiated according to company size and industry. Research implications: The results of this study are applicable to companies which have already dealt with reliability issues. Further studies should consider a cross-section status of reliability implementation in industry, as well as they should contain extended actions and methods of reliability. Value of paper: This research relates to the status of reliability management implementation in international industry. There are shown significant differences in industries and company size. The results show potentials in reliability management and can be used as benchmark.
