Reliable and good suppliers are an important competitive advantage for a customer and that is why the development of suppliers, improvement of performance and enhancement of customership are also in the interest of the customer. The purpose of this study is to clarify a customer’s possibilities to increase the performance of a service provider and to develop the service process in FM services and thus help to improve partnership development. This research is a qualitative research. The research complements the existing generic model of supplier development towards partnership development by customer and clarifies the special features that facility management services bring to this model. The data has been gathered from interviews of customers and service providers in the facility management service sector. The result is a model of customers’ possibilities to develop the performance of service providers from the viewpoint of value addition and relationship development and in that way ensure added value to the customer and the development of a long-term relationship. The results can be beneficial to customers when they develop the cooperation between the customer and the service provider toward being more strategic and more partnership focused.

Purpose: The complex nature of inter-organizational relationships can be reflected in the number, level, and changes of their features. Focusing on two essential features of relationships – trust and commitment – we explore how they change in the particular phase of the relationship life cycle. Design/methodology/approach: Using the existing findings from a systematic literature review on IOR features, we aimed to qualitatively verify the changes over the time of two crucial relational characteristics – trust and commitment. Next, using a quantitative surveying, we tested the changeability of these two on a large-scale sample (786) from the software industry in Poland. Findings: With strong empirical support, we found the level of trust and commitment intensity as changing in a non-linear manner through the relationship life cycle. Logically, they both increase across the initial, development, and maintenance phases, while in the termination phase they decline. However, the results show that they can rise when the relationship is reactivated. Research limitations/implications: Due to the industry and cultural-specific limitations, comparative studies on several industries in cross-cultural conditions are recommended. We need further research on a holistic view of relationship characteristics and their changeability through the relationship life cycle. Furthermore, the validity of the cyclical treatment of relationship dynamics is worth reviewing. Originality/value: We investigate the significance of trust and commitment in inter-organizational relationship development using a mixed research approach. Additionally, as a methodological contribution, this article offers the operationalization and measurement of the above-mentioned features.
Cel: złożoność relacji międzyorganizacyjnych wyraża się w liczbie, poziomie oraz zmienności ich cech. Koncentrując się na dwóch podstawowych cechach relacji – zaufaniu i zaangażowaniu – artykuł rozpoznaje, jak zmieniają się one w poszczególnych fazach cyklu życia związku. Metodologia: wykorzystując wyniki systematycznego przeglądu literatury na temat cech IOR, za cel przyjęto jakościową weryfikację zmienności zaufania oraz zaangażowania na przestrzeni czasu. Następnie uzyskane wyniki zostały poddane ilościowemu testowaniu w badaniach przeprowadzonych na próbie 786 twórców oprogramowania w Polsce. Wyniki: wyniki badań wskazują, że poziom zaufania i intensywności zaangażowania zmieniają się nieliniowo w cyklu życia IOR. Zgodnie z logiką, oba atrybuty zwiększają się w fazach początkowej, rozwoju i utrzymania, natomiast w fazie końcowej się zmniejszają. Jednakże, wyniki badań wskazują, że ich poziom może ponownie wzrosnąć, gdy relacja zostanie reaktywowana. Ograniczenia/implikacje badawcze: ze względu na ograniczenia branżowe i kulturowe zalecane są badania porównawcze kilku branż w warunkach międzykulturowych. Widzimy też potrzebę dalszych badań nad całościowym spojrzeniem na cechy relacji i ich zmienność w cyklu życia relacji. Ponadto warto przyjrzeć się zasadności cyklicznego traktowania dynamiki relacji IOR. Oryginalność/wartość: wkładem w istniejący stan wiedzy jest rozpoznanie znaczenia zaufania i zaangażowania w rozwoju relacji międzyorganizacyjnych z wykorzystaniem mieszanego podejścia badawczego. Dodatkowo, jako wkład metodyczny, w artykule przedstawiono operacjonalizację i pomiar rozważanych atrybutów relacji.

Pandemia COVID-19 była zdarzeniem nieoczekiwanym: dotychczas światu wydawało się, że może kontrolować wszystko, tymczasem okazało się, że istnieją pewne zjawiska biologiczne, wobec których człowiek jest bezsilny. Fakty biologiczne, które miały miejsce w czasie pandemii, zdemaskowały liczne zagrożenia, jakie mogą być niesione przez procesy globalizacyjne. Jest to związane z pewnymi efektami ubocznymi niezrównoważonego rozwoju i wpływa na nasze życie, społeczność i gospodarkę. Mauro Ceruti twierdzi, że elementy globalizacyjne w takich dziedzinach jak biologia, antropologia, ekonomia czy polityka są ze sobą nierozerwalnie związane i nie da się ich odseparować. Papież Franciszek, w odpowiedzi na potrzeby świata nauki, wrażliwego na kwestie środowiskowe, opublikował w 2015 roku swoją drugą encyklikę pod tytułem Laudato si’. Jest to dokument adresowany do wszystkich, nie tylko do chrześcijan. W tej encyklice Kościół katolicki po raz pierwszy wypowiada się na temat środowiska naturalnego i jego ochrony. Laudato si’ nie jest traktatem teoretycznym, ale przedstawia integralną wizję (teologiczną, antropologiczną, egzystencjalną) kosmosu i człowieka w ich intymnej relacji, wzywającą nas do dokonania zmiany, której nie wolno odkładać na później.
The pandemic is an unexpected event for the vast majority of us: we thought we could control everything, and instead, when the facts of biology are expressed in a real revolt against man, we find this is not the case. This virus is one of the first biological events that will denounce, from now on, the excesses of our globalisation. What we are going through is deeply linked to the side effects of unsustainable development models, the cost of which has impacted our lives, our sociality, and our economies. As the philosopher Mauro Ceruti argues, the threads of biological, anthropological, economic, political globalisation are tangled and inextricable. In consonance with the world of science and sensitive to the environmental issue, Pope Francis published the second encyclical in 2015 with the title Laudato Si’. It is an encyclical for everyone, not just for Christians. It is a very important letter because, for the first time, the Catholic Church has published an official document on the issues of the environment and its protection. Laudato Si’ is not a theoretical treatise but an integral vision (theological, anthropological, existential) of the intimate relationship between the cosmos and human beings, urging us to be builders of a change that cannot be postponed.

Research background: Sustainable development at the enterprise level is understood as the integration of economic, environmental and social dimensions aimed at meeting the needs of all firm?s stakeholders in the present and in the future. Therefore, it is crucial to evaluate the relationship between economic, environmental and social sustainability performance of a company and its financial performance. Purpose of the article: Considering the business model for sustainability as well as the debatable results of empirical research on the relationship between corporate sustainability performance (CSP) and corporate financial performance (CFP), the essential aim of the paper is to answer the question whether the improvement of corporate sustainability performance in its all particular dimensions brings about higher total revenues (TR) of a company. Methods: The main method of empirical research is panel regression models based on Cobb-Douglas production function, which has been extended to include variables of corporate sustainability scores. The selection between pooled OLS model, random-effects model and fixed-effects model has been made with the use of the F test, the Breusch-Pagan test and the Hausman test. Additionally, descriptive statistics and the Pearson correlation coefficients have been analyzed. The empirical studies were conducted in the period 2014?2019 among the 59 largest U.S. companies listed in the Fortune 500 ranking between 2015?2020. Findings & value added: The research hypothesis assuming the existence of positive relationship between corporate sustainability performance (CSP) at both aggregate and disaggregate levels and corporate financial performance (CFP) expressed by TR cannot be positively verified. It means that the improvement of corporate sustainability performance in environmental, social and governance dimensions does not lead to an increase in TR of a company, as some empirical studies suggest.

Istotnym elementem obrazu klinicznego zaburzeń ze spektrum autyzmu są trudności przetwarzania informacji społeczno-emocjonalnych oraz odpowiedniego reagowania na sygnały o znaczeniu emocjonalnym. Dotychczasowe badania wskazują, że na poziomie fizjologicznym reakcje emocjonalne osób z autyzmem są mało zaburzone, a głównym problemem jest uświadomienie sobie i zinterpretowanie tego, co się przeżywa. Wyniki prezentowanych w literaturze przedmiotu badań dotyczących rozpoznawania emocji na podstawie wyrazu twarzy nie są jednoznaczne. Artykuł przedstawia wybrane aspekty rozwoju emocjonalnego dziecka z autyzmem, których znajomość jest niezbędna w prowadzeniu kompleksowej terapii oraz wskazuje metody, dzięki którym tenże rozwój może następować.
The essential element of the clinical picture of autism spectrum disorders is difficulties in processing social-emotional information and reacting appropriately to signals of emotional significance. Up to date the studies have indicated that on physiological level emotional reactions of autistic people are only slightly disordered, and the main problem lies in realizing and interpreting what they experience. The results of numerous studies on recognizing emotions by facial expressions are ambiguous. The article presents selected aspects of emotional development of autistic children, the knowledge of which is indispensable for conducting a complex therapy, and indicates the methods thanks to which such a development can occur.

Customer-centricity – a concept, a trend or an absolute must-have in a modern consumer market? The answer may seem clear, and that no further profound reflections are required. However, it is impossible to specify unambiguously the criteria that should be met by an organization to be considered a customer-centric enterprise. This doubt stimulated the analysis of the available sources in which numerous authors have taken up the topic of the customer and his strategic importance for supporting a wide range of businesses. I focus on five different business concepts that combine a qualitative approach to the customer. The article attempts to define the concept of customer-centricity, and I identify five different qualities that should be met by an organization so that it may call itself “customer-centric”.

Morphological developments of Indo-European languages are known, but not formulated as laws: the loss of dual, of some cases and of the neuter, the change of root stems into the class of vocalic stems, the loss of the subjunctive, and the convergence of perfect and aorist, the replacement of the synthetic mediopassive by analytic categories. The established criteria of the kinship between related language families or of the degree of kinship between two languages or within a group are morphological and lexical commonalities. Whereas lexemes are often borrowed, idioms are borrowed only between closely related languages. Grammatical categories can be created corresponding to patterns of neighbouring languages. Phonological borrowings are rare.

Research into the creative class and its importance for regional development are the focus of interest of a number of researchers including R. Florida, A. Zolli, or C. Landry. In Polish literature this issue is discussed relatively rarely. And yet, those who perform creative professions are, by creating new forms in terms of innovative solutions, products and services, the ‘driving force’ that stimulates the economic growth. The purpose of this paper is an empirical verification of the model that presents the value of the relationship between local authorities and the creative class. The main research technique used in the study was a telephone interview using a standardised questionnaire. The research was carried out between 2010 and 2012 under a grant by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.
Badania nad klasą kreatywną i jej znaczeniem dla rozwoju regionalnego są w centrum zainteresowania takich badaczy, jak R. Florida, A. Zolli i C. Landry. W polskiej literaturze zagadnienie to poruszane jest relatywnie rzadko. Grupa osób wykonujących zawody twórcze jest „motorem” stymulującym wzrost gospodarczy poprzez tworzenie nowych form w postaci innowacyjnych rozwiązań, kreowanie produktów i usług. Celem niniejszego artykułu jest empiryczna weryfikacja modelu wartości relacji władze samorządowe – klasa kreatywna. Główną techniką badawczą był wywiad telefoniczny ze standaryzowanym kwestionariuszem. Badania przeprowadzono w ramach grantu finansowanego przez Ministerstwo Nauki i Szkolnictwa Wyższego w latach 2010-2012.

The article is a review of the theories connected with psychoanalysis concerning the development of EGO in the internal psychological and relational aspects. The main concepts are presented - from classical Z. Freud to the modern thought of ISTDP. The importance of early childhood experiences for the functioning of EGO in adulthood was shown. The complexity of the problem is shown due to the internalized objects in the EGO-structure or the presence of Child-Parent-Adult states in it. The discussed theories indicate how much knowledge about the states, structure and process of development, including in relation to EGO  from childhood to adulthood, was evaluated.
Niniejszy artykuł zawiera przegląd teorii dotyczących rozwoju JA w aspekcie wewnątrzpsychicznym i relacyjnym związanych z nurtem psychoanalizy i stanowiących jej kontynuację . Przedstawiono główne koncepcje –od klasycznej Z. Freuda po współczesną myśl ISTDP. Ukazano znaczenie wczesnodziecięcych doświadczeń dla funkcjonowania JA w okresie dorosłości. Pokazano złożoność problemu z uwagi na uwewnętrznione obiekty w strukturze JA lub obecność w nim stanów Dziecka -Rodzica-Dorosłego. Omówione teorie wskazują, jak bardzo ewaluowała wiedza dotycząca stanów, struktury i procesu rozwoju pozostającego w szeroko rozumianej relacji JA, od dzieciństwa po wynikające z tego okresu funkcjonowanie w dorosłości.

W pierwszej części artykułu przedstawiono wybrany dorobek teoretyczny z zakresu poruszanej problematyki, w drugiej powołano się na empiryczne modele, zaadaptowane do zbadania zależności między rozwojem infrastruktury a wzrostem PKB oraz dokonano próby analizy tej zależności na przykładzie 16 województw Polski, uwzględniając lata 2008-2011.
The paper presents a theoretical and empirical approach on the impact of the development of transport infrastructure on economic growth. In the first part of the article presents the main views transport of economists on that matter. In the second part of this paper empirical models were adapted to examine this relationship between transport infrastructure and economic growth. Analysis on the example of the 16 provinces of Poland (taking into account the years 2008-2011) was conducted.

The aim of this article is to assess the impact of social capital on socio-economic development of rural communities in the Warmia and Mazury Province. In the course of the study two synthetic indicators were calculated with the use of the TOPSIS method. One characterised social capital, the other the level of socio-economic development. The data used to determine the indicators (characterizing social capital and socio-economic development) were obtained from the Local Data Bank of the Central Statistical Office and the National Electoral Commission for 67 rural communities from the Warmińsko-mazurskie voivodeship. Subsequently, linear ordering of the examined units was conducted and typological classes (I–IV) were determined, characterising the level of both analysed indicators. It was established that rural communities in the Warmińsko-mazurskie voivodeship do not show a large variation in terms of socio-economic development and social capital. Then, the relation between social capital and the level of socio-economic development was studied. As shown by statistical analysis, there is a positive, but low statistical dependence between the level of social capital and the level of socio-economic development. In turn, in the case of commune division into typological classes, compatibility was found between the discussed indicators, but only for 26 units, which constitutes only 40% of the analysed communes.
Celem artykułu jest próba oceny wpływu kapitału społecznego na poziom rozwoju społeczno-gospodarczego gmin wiejskich województwa warmińsko-mazurskiego. W toku realizacji badań obliczono dwa syntetyczne mierniki z zastosowaniem metody TOPSIS. Jeden charakteryzował kapitał społeczny, drugi stopień rozwoju społeczno-gospodarczego. Dane, które posłużyły do wyznaczenia mierników (wskaźniki charakteryzujące kapitał społeczny i rozwój społeczno-gospodarczy), pozyskano z Banku Danych Lokalnych Głównego Urzędu Statystycznego oraz Państwowej Komisji Wyborczej dla 67 gmin wiejskich z województwa warmińsko-mazurskiego. W kolejnym kroku dokonano uporządkowania liniowego badanych jednostek i wyznaczono klasy typologiczne (I–IV) charakteryzujące poziom obu analizowanych mierników. Ustalono, że gminy wiejskie w województwie warmińskomazurskim nie wykazują dużego zróżnicowania pod względem poziomu rozwoju społeczno-gospodarczego oraz kapitału społecznego. Następnie badano zależność między kapitałem społecznym a poziomem rozwoju społeczno-gospodarczego. Jak wykazała analiza statystyczna, zależność między poziomem kapitału społecznego a poziomem rozwoju społeczno-gospodarczego jest dodatnia, ale słaba. Z kolei w przypadku podziału gmin na klasy typologiczne stwierdzono zgodność klas między omawianymi miernikami, ale tylko dla 26 jednostek, co stanowi niespełna 40% analizowanych gmin.

Opis:
Residential housing developments built using the prefabricated method during the 1970s undoubtedly have their very own specificities. There exists a wide variety of opinions of the housing developments themselves, as well as of their social condition. The aim of this article is to identify residents' relationships with the residential housing development territory and to demonstrate the variety of those relationships as conditioned by various types of spatial planning. Various planning elements were taken in to account: building layout, green spaces, and recreational grounds. Residents' relationships with the territory are conveyed by individual residents' evaluations of their residential housing development (housing development evaluation, feelings of belonging) and external manifestations of attachment to the development (local involvement). The described topics are demonstrated using the examples of 4 residential housing developments in Warsaw.

Artykuł prezentuje problematykę rozwoju dostawców, zarówno w świetle literatury przedmiotu, jak i praktyki gospodarczej. Przedstawia także wyniki badań ankietowych przeprowadzonych w Polsce pod koniec 2013 roku. Zgodnie z nimi, zagadnienie SD (ang. Supplier Development) powinno być szczególnie ważne dla menedżerów zarządzających łańcuchami dostaw w warunkach międzynarodowych. Przedsiębiorstwa ukierunkowane na doskonalenie sprawności dostawców koncentrują się przede wszystkim na ocenie okresowej dostawców, audytach i transferze wiedzy. W działaniach tych upatrują między innymi wzrostu terminowości dostaw i poprawy jakości technicznej produktów.
The article presents the issue of Supplier Development, both in the light of the literature and business practice. It also presents the results of survey carried out in Poland in late 2013. According to the research results the SD concept should be particularly important for managers managing supply chains, especially in international environment. Moreover, companies that are interested in improving the suppliers’ performance, focus primarily on the supplier evaluation, audits and knowledge transfer. In so doing, they see among other things such benefits as improvement of the timeliness of deliveries and improvement of the technical quality of products.
