Opis:
W opracowaniu zastosowano podejście rozgraniczające proces tworzenia i proces zawłaszczania wartości. Głównym celem rozważań jest analiza potencjalnych modeli przechwytywania wartości przez partnerów na rynku B2B. W pierwszej części artykułu przedstawiono koncepcję wartości ekonomicznej oraz wartości relacyjnej, rozumianych jako wartości wspólnie wytworzone w relacji nabywca-dostawca na rynku B2B, która nie może być wygenerowana indywidualnie przez firmy. Niezbędnym etapem w podjętych rozważaniach było rozwinięcie modelu wartości relacyjnej, rozpatrywanej z perspektywy relacji, a nie pojedynczej firmy. W kolejnej części artykułu omówiono niekooperatywne i kooperatywne mechanizmy zawłaszczania wartości oraz wskazano warunki ich stosowania. Podstawowymi rezultatami opracowania są wykazana zależność wartości relacyjnej od mechanizmu tworzenia i zawłaszczania wartości oraz kluczowa rola zaufania i osadzenia społecznego relacji w kooperatywnych mechanizmach zawłaszczania wartości. Artykuł ma charakter koncepcyjny, w którym zastosowano metodę badań literaturowych.
An approach distinguishing the process of value creation and the process of value appropriation is used in the study. The main aim of the article is an analysis of potential models referring to the process of capturing the value by the partners in the B2B market. In the first part of the article, the concepts of economic value and relational value are presented where relational value is understood as a jointly created value in buyer-supplier relationships in the B2B market, which cannot be generated individually by the single company. The development of the model of relational value, considered from the perspective of the relationship and not a single company, was the essential stage in the discussion. In the next part of the article, the non-cooperative and cooperative mechanisms for appropriating value are discussed and the conditions for their use are identified. The main results of the paper are: presentation of the dependence of relational value on the mechanism of creating and appropriating value; the key role of trust and social embeddedness of relations in the value appropriation cooperative mechanisms. The article is of the conceptual character and the method of literature research was used.
В разработке применили подход, разграничивающий процесс создания и процесс присвоения ценности. Основная цель рассуждений – провести анализ потенциальных моделей перенятия ценности партнерами на рынке B2B. В первой части статьи представили концепцию экономической ценности и реляционной ценности, понимаемых как совместно созданные ценности в реляции покупатель-поставщик на рынке B2B, которая не может генерироваться фирмами индивидуально. Необходимым этапом в предпринятых рассу- ждениях было развитие модели реляционной ценности, рассматриваемой из перспективы реляции, а не одной фирмы. В очередной части статьи обсудили некооперативные и кооперативные механизмы присвоения ценности, а также указали условия их применения. Основные рузультаты разработки – доказанная зависимость реляционной ценности от механизма создания и присвоения ценности, а также основная роль доверия и социальной основы реляции в коо- перативных механизмах присвоения ценности. Статья имеет концептуальный характер, в которой применили метод изучения литературы.

Research background: Currently the topic of a company's intellectual capital is being widely investigated by various researchers. Nevertheless, only a small number of studies on the company's intellectual capital impact on its market value were conducted. What is more, the concept of a company's intellectual capital itself is not unified. There are some discrepancies in defining a company's intellectual capital, unifying structural model of the company's intellectual capital, and harmonizing the research methods and models of how to evaluate a company's intellectual capital. Purpose of the article: The aim of the article is to examine various scientific approaches of the company's intellectual capital and its impact on the market value of a respective company; to prepare a model of company's intellectual capital and its impact on the market value. What is more, the aim of this article is to check and test the model effectiveness using an example of the Baltic States listed companies. Methods: Data on 58 Baltic States' companies that are listed in Nasdaq Baltic stock exchange were taken as the basis of the research. Based on four component model (human capital, structural capital, juridical capital, relational capital) a set of indicators for assessing company's intellectual capital was formed. Expert evaluation was used in order to assign weights for different structural parts of intellectual capital. An exploratory factor analysis was conducted in order to find out what factors are the most significant for a company's intellectual capital. In order to find out how specific elements affect company's intellectual capital, a pair-wise multiple correlation and regression analysis were used. An average comparison method was used to reveal differences between companies of different countries. Findings & Value added: The study contributes to the Baltic States' knowledge on intellectual capital. It was detected that it is appropriate to use human capital, structural capital, juridical capital, and relational capital structural parts as components of company's intellectual capital while investigating its impact on market value of a respective company. According to the obtained results, the model of a company's intellectual capital and its impact on the market value was created, optimized, and its validity checked using exploratory factor analysis. The model was used to test the Baltic States listed companies and how their intellectual capital affects the market value. It was identified that intellectual capital in the listed companies of the Baltic States has a positive impact on their market value. Nevertheless, the study revealed that intellectual capital structural parts do not equally affect the market value of listed companies. The findings support the conclusion that human capital and relational capital have the greatest influence on the market value of listed companies. Companies where structural capital comprises the largest proportion of intellectual capital had lower levels of intellectual capital aggregated index, which could be examined in future studies.

Opis:
The value of contemporary companies is to great extent based on the value of intangible assets. Therefore, the precise valuation of particular elements of those assets constitutes an important issue. The solution to this is regarded as an important challenge both on theoretical as well as on practical level. One of the components of intangible assets are the relations of the company with different groups of its stakeholders. The meaning of the valuation of those relations increased together with the densification of the network of stakeholders resulting from the emergence of new groups of stakeholders and from the increase in the number of contacts with the company. The current approach to the valuation of stakeholders relations (concentrated mainly on clients or employees) seems to be insufficient because the relations with other stakeholders also become a source of future economic benefits for the company. Therefore, there is a need for new approach towards the valuation of relations, embracing broader range of stakeholders, so that the valuation fully reflects the real value of those relations as an element of the intangible assets of the company.

The causes of considerably increasing call for “values” lie in accumulation of changes and in impenetrable number of offers in all aspects of life. The problem is that most often these are merely the calls for values or that values are “containers” enclosing everything possible. Thoughtful interpretation of values may help go out of the widespread indifference. Consciously evaluative dosage of resources, such as deference, time, power and money may contribute to the quality of our lives. Values as conscious or unconscious indicative standards and leading ideas of individuals and groups are characterized by current beliefs and by epoch-making paradigms in the background. Progressive program of modernity with methods of research, quantification and disposal has been authoritative so far. The program was very effective, and the possibilities of life of the contemporary society were significantly expanded. Together with the achievement of its goals, the epoch-making paradigm loses its meaning and mobilizing force. At the same time, it is seen what issues have still been open. So now we find that with the modern paradigm and it is necessary to show values leading into the future. The culture of life worthy of man needs effectiveness not only measurable in numbers, but also beauty that cannot be defined, and good free interpersonal relations. In many places, especially since the global financial and economic crisis, there have been shown dead ends of egocentric domination and seizure. It should be reminded how fundamental for us in our life is the size of the interpersonal and transcendental relationship. Sooner or later, the elementary questions, which are marginalized, appear: is there any sense and hope in my life, in our world, any sense and hope behind the whirl of life coming to the fore, beyond the threshold of death? Changes of values and the interpretation of values in our unusual breakthrough time apply to families. A lot of issues are in the state of breakthrough in family life: here the forms become multiplex, a lot of issues are getting relativised recklessly. Actually, the meaning and value of family is growing, not lowering, in the breakthrough time. It is not to be missed that families in earlier times were more stable than today. Remembering more stable families from former times makes the wish for them to come back understandable; however, it is not realistic. Deep changes of the course of life, the roles of gender and patterns of relationship mean breaking with the traditional culture of family. Thus, there emerge critical transition stages which cannot be stopped, but at best can be guided. Further development of family culture is not only for families, but for the society as such, of the greatest importance. Very important facts that are marginalized in today’s ”lifestyle” may be still met in families: valuable life is based not only on money, success, entertainment and well-being, but what is indispensable is to stay together, and also recognition, acceptance, benevolent correction and willingness to give.

Large volumes of data are generated during DNA microarrays experiments. Database management systems (DBMS) are increasingly applied to these data, providing optimum processing and management from multiple microarray experiments. In this study, freely accessible DBMS software versions were compared (Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Express Edition, Oracle Database 10g Express Edition, DB2 Express-C 9.7.2, MySQL 5.1, and PostgreSQL 9.0). We examined them in the context of possible Entity-Attribute-Value (EAV) application as an optimal organization method for microarray data. It was confirmed in the comparative analysis of component data processing methods, consistent with the EAV model, that efficient methods for microarray data analysis are available in Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Express Edition and PostgreSQL 9.0 systems. Also, DNA microarray data processing was confirmed to be more efficient with Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Express Edition as compared with PostgreSQL 9.0. The EAV method was also shown to be suitable for use with open-source versions of DBMS software as an optimum storage model for DNA microarray data. In terms of data processing methods and performance, the Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Express Edition proved to be the best among compared database systems.

W artykule omówiono pewien specyficzny sposób reprezentacji danych, który w pewnych sytuacjach może być stosowany w miejsce klasycznego podejścia relacyjnego. Jest on stosunkowo mało znany i choć zakres jego stosowalności jest ograniczony a pewne niekorzystne właściwości znaczne, to warto go poznać, gdyż istnieją obszary, gdzie jego stosowanie może przynieść wymierne korzyści. Mowa tu o tzw. podejściu Entity-Attribute-Value, w skrócie EAV. Jest ono całkowicie różne od podejścia relacyjnego. W pracy pokazano główne założenia EAV wraz z przykładami oraz omówiono jego podstawowe zalety i wady. Krótko omówiono również pewne alternatywne rozwiązanie do EAV, które posiada niektóre cechy EAV, a jednocześnie nie burzy tak bardzo podejścia relacyjnego.
In the paper a specific kind of data representation is presented. In some situations it can be used in place of classical relational approach. This data representation, although not new, is not widely known, and in spite of some serious limitations, can be used in many specific database areas. We describe the Entity-Attribute-Value (EAV) approach. This approach is totally different to the relational one. In the paper we give an overview of the EAV as well as we show the main advantages and disadvantages. Also, we show an alternative approach to EAV which does not suffer the EAV limitations.
