Opis:
The methodology of hierarchical linearized mathematical models construction of complex plants to control purposes is presented in the paper. Thanks to the methodology, the one high order model (flat, one level model), is replaced by a collection of models, which are placed at different hierarchy levels. The models represent dynamic processes typical for each hierarchy level, and omit fast dynamic processes significant at lower levels. The higher is hierarchy level, the slower dynamic processes is described by the model and the lower is order of the models. Multi-level model structure gives possibility of dynamic properties analysis by application of aggregation procedure. One of the principal aggregation procedure is reduction of models at individual levels of hierarchical structure. Such approach enables creating a reduced hierarchical model including a collection of models at every level of hierarchy, characterized by various adequacy scopes and accuracy of the plant features approximation. The paper presents methodology of hierarchical complex plants models creation on the example of evaporator of the BP-1150 boiler. Each of the subsystem at individual level of model hierarchy is a multi-input and multi-output causal systems.

Opis:
Virtual testing and hybrid simulation have become an important trend in airplane design and validation. The traditional Testing Pyramid (or Building Block) approaches that emphasis on uniaxial coupon test and full structure certification test are being challenged. Researchers are trying to use advanced testing and simulation methods to replace the Testing Pyramid approach. Before physical testing, virtual testing can be conducted to simulate the physical test. Virtual model of the full testing system including controller, actuators, and fixtures can be constructed and validated. In this work, an example has been developed and validated to show the potentials of the virtual testing process. Hybrid simulation is an approach of analyzing an analysis model and physical structure integrated system under realistic loading conditions. Hybrid simulation combines the lab testing with numerical analysis to explore the benefits of both methodologies. In this study, a hybrid simulation for a simplified airplane wing was conducted to demonstrate the process. Virtual testing and hybrid simulation are alternative methods of Testing Pyramid approach. Full scale tests are still required for certification but the more that is known about the test article, the greater chances of success in the full-scale certification testing.

Opis:
The Craig–Bampton (CB) method is a well-known substructuring technique that reduces the size of a finite element model (FEM) using a set of vibration modes. For large FEA models, the reduction process could be computationally expensive since it requires algebra operations on FEM mode shapes and FEM system sparse matrices. In this paper, we investigate the potential of usage of GPU parallel processing to speed up solving the system of linear equations that results from the CB reduction process made for a model of cyclic structures. A Python based high-level approach, employing the CuPy, GinkGo and STRUMPACK libraries on the GPU, is compared with an optimized Fortran code. In side-to-side comparisons, employing the same inputs, the Python-GPU code is run on a single GPU device and the Fortran code is run on a multi-core compute node. The CB reduction process was split into several parts, each dealing with different kind of algebraic formulation of the problem. Performance comparisons were focused on the sparse system linear solver, since it turned out to be the most time-consuming part. The results suggest that the current GPU-based linear sparse solvers do not surpass the state-of-the-art CPU-based MKL PARDISO solver (at least up to 1M DOFs).

Opis:
Sand drifting on road networks in the region of the Lower Algerian Sahara is one of the main problems for the sector. Machines are repeatedly deployed to overcome this phenomenon. The long experience acquired while dealing with the removal of sand from roads pushed us to focus on obstacles called "Draas". The purpose of this study is to perform an optimization of these special protective structures called “Draas”, using a reduced physical model. Model tests were performed in flow channel. The principle of modeling the wind transport using a reduced model is to simulate the wind using a liquid stream while respecting the laws of hydraulic and sedimentological similarity. The results obtained are extrapolated to make a normal size prototype.

In this paper we introduce extensions of the so-called Frisch-Waugh-Lovell Theorem. This is done by employing the close relationship between the concept of linear sufficiency and the appropriate reduction of linear models. Some specific reduced models which demonstrate alternatives to the Frisch-Waugh-Lovell procedure are discussed.

Opis:
Using the analogy between anisotropic acoustic metamaterials with magnetic metamaterials in transverse magnetic mode, an electromagnetic wave of 2 GHz n transverse magnetic mode, at normal incidence propagating through a two dimensional, anisotropic, semi infinite, double negative, metamaterial slab of 800 × 800 cells, embedded in free space, for the ideal loss case was simulated by a radially dependent finite difference time dependent method to study an ideal acoustic cylindrical cloak. For the simulations multiple cycle m-n-m pulses generating Gaussian beams were used as sinusoidal hard line sources. The simulations for acoustic cylindrical cloaking by a reduced parameter model and a higher order parameter model are also presented. The cloaking behaviour is largely dependent upon the transformation and not on the thickness of the cloak. The radial dependent model and the higher order transformation model are suited for acoustic cloaking.

Opis:
W artykule przedstawiono problem jakości systemów reguł modeli rozmytych dla baz wiedzy inteligentnych systemów wspomagania decyzji (ang. Intelligent Decision Support Systems - IDSS). Problem ten jest rozpatrywany na przykładzie systemów wykorzystujących informację hydrometeorologiczną i wspomagających podejmowanie decyzji dotyczących lepszego zagospodarowania regionów ulegających wpływom niebezpiecznych czynników hydrometeorologicznych. Wymieniono główne charakterystyki stosowane do oceny jakości systemu reguł modelu rozmytego. Akcent położono na wskaźnik kompletności lingwistycznego systemu reguł oraz na problem wyboru z kompletnego systemu reguł zredukowanych wariantów systemów reguł. Zaproponowano podejście do wyboru z pełnego systemu reguł wariantów zredukowanych systemów reguł oraz sformalizowano metodę obliczenia liczby możliwych wariantów zredukowanych systemów reguł z pełnego systemu reguł. Zaprezentowano wyniki modelowania w Matlab Fuzzy Logic na pełnych i zredukowanych systemach reguł.
Various methodological approaches are used in knowledge based engineering for computer intelligent systems. A problem of the quality of rule base of fuzzy models developed for knowledge based IDSS is presented. This problem is considered on example IDSS/hm using the hydrometeorological information and supporting adaptation of regions to dangerous natural phenomena. The IDSS/hm can be included as a subsystem in regional management systems, help region in adaptation. The main characteristics of the quality of rule base of fuzzy models are described. A parameter of the linguistic rule base completeness and a problem of choice of the reduced variants of the rule base of fuzzy model from the complete rule base are emphasized. There is proposed an approach to choice of the reduced variants of rule base from the complete rule base and a formal method for calculating their number. The results of modelling in Matlab Fuzzy Logic on the full and reduced variants of rule base are presented.
