Opis:
In the presented paper, a problem of nonholonomic constrained mechanical systems is treated. New methods in nonholonomic mechanics are applied to a problem of a Forklift-truck robot motion. This method of the geometrical theory of general nonholonomic constrained systems on fibered manifolds and their jet prolongations, based on so-called Chetaev-type constraint forces. The relevance of this theory for general types of nonholonomic constraints, not only linear or affine ones, was then verified on appropriate models. On the other hand, the equations of motion of a Forklift-truck robot are highly nonlinear and rolling without slipping condition can only be expressed by nonholonomic constraint equations. In this paper, the geometrical theory is applied to the above mentioned mechanical problem. The results of numerical solutions of constrained equations of motion, derived within the theory, are presented.

Opis:
This paper presents an update of the slope-deflection method, which is used in the analysis of statically indeterminate structures. In this study, new reduced equations are presented based on including both the effects of the member rotations and the fixed end moments in one term, rather than two terms, in order to simplify the application of the slope-deflection method. The reduced equations are developed, then three numerical examples with comprehensive cases of beams are solved by applying both the original and the proposed reduced equations. The analysis outputs indicated that the reduced equations are applicable for all cases that can be analyzed by the slope-deflection method, and give identical results compared with the original equations. It is found that the reduced equations require less computations when the structure has no support settlement, compared with the original equations, whereas the computations are approximately similar when the structure has a support settlement.

Opis:
The swirling flow in discharge diffusers with a converging rotating hub and diverging casing is modeled by reduced Reynolds equations, and a single sweep method is used for their solution. The flow was probed at the inlet and outlet section of these diffusers under various pump capacities and, therefore, various swirl rates. The correspondence of results in the operating range of the pump was satisfactory concerning the velocity distributions in the outlet section as well as concerning the coefficient of energy losses. The characteristic curves of the pump with different internal angles of discharge diffusers are presented and the optimal internal angle is obtained.

Opis:
It is shown that a certain Bezout operator provides a bijective correspondence between the solutions of the matrix quadratic equation and factorizatons of a certain matrix polynomial G(lambda) (which is a specification of a Popov-type function) into a product of row and column reduced polynomials. Special attention is paid to the symmetric case, i.e. to the Algebraic Riccati Equation. In particular, it is shown that extremal solutions of such equations correspond to spectral factorizations of G(lambda). The proof of these results depends heavily on a new inertia theorem for matrix polynomials which is also one of the main results in this paper.

Opis:
The objective of this study is to present a new modification of the reduced differential transform method (MRDTM) to find an approximate analytical solution of a certain class of nonlinear fractional partial differential equations in particular, nonlinear time-fractional wave-like equations with variable coefficients. This method is a combination of two different methods: the Shehu transform method and the reduced differential transform method. The advantage of the MRDTM is to find the solution without discretization, linearization or restrictive assumptions. Three different examples are presented to demonstrate the applicability and effectiveness of the MRDTM. The numerical results show that the proposed modification is very effective and simple for solving nonlinear fractional partial differential equations.
