One of the processes of wet area is the separation of soybean’s skin using water as its media, with the cycle time is 45.59 minutes. The object of this research is the wet area on Tempe production in Indonesian Tempe House (ITH) at Bogor City to reducing the cycle time by designing soybean peel separator machine. This research was conducted using the reverse engineering method by performing an in-depth analysis of the tools used and developing the existing peel separator equipment based on user needs. Concept screening and concept scoring are done to select one of the best concepts of 48 possible concepts. The result of the selected concept of the soybean peel separator is the need for a propulsion motor as a replacement energy source for the operator's power and the mechanisms for separating skin and soybeans using water force from the bottom of the container. After that, the concept will be done by make a prototype and testing it in Rumah Tempe Indonesia with the result of cycle time is 70.77 minutes for all processes in a wet area, which means the cycle time is decreasing 39%.

The aim of this research is to improve a warehousing process. Its operations are characterized by deterministic and stochastic parameters. In such circumstances, the classical approaches based on deterministic methods leading to better performance of the process would not provide the expected results. Thus, the authors propose the methodology of process improvement. Introduction of a new technical equipment and reassignment of tasks to employees was proposed. The problem has been solved, providing significant improvement of the warehousing process. The proposed methodology of simulation-based process improvement has been proposed and verified. The process map created as the result of process analysis facilitates and accelerates the simulation model construction. The possibility to reflect random values brings the model closer to reality and increases the credibility of results.

In this study, an axle shaft subjected to static deformation and fatigue damage was considered by using computer-aided engineering. This shaft system was modeled with CATIA and subjected to dynamic fatigue analyses with Ansys workbench. The damaged fracture surfaces of the shaft have been examined. Thus, the fatigue and damage was revealed in greater detail. For the present system, a design with a minimum cost, short production process, minimum weight was sought together with methodical construction principles. By means of CATIA and ANSYS, the product development design with reasonable tension and deformation values was formed for endless life fatigue. A design was produced in a short space of time with the help of 2D CATIA drawings and field tests were carried out. The design was used through 560.000 cycles and damage was not observed.

The purpose of this paper is to draw attention to the issue of “redesign” in the supply chain resilience concept as a way of dealing with the consequences of disruption. The article presents this issue in light of SCRES literature and survey results. The literature analysis allowed to identify key terminology (design, reconfiguration and redesign terms) and assign them to the specific phase of the disturbance. Additionally, the SCRES closed loop including five SCRES abilities is proposed. The newly added “ability to improve” is related to supply chain redesign in the post-disruption phase. As the survey results show, manufacturing companies take improvement actions to avoid similar disruptions in the future. For example, the researched enterprises “redesign a disrupted process’s structure” the most often. The several hypotheses were confirmed. Additionally, the TBLR construct for the measuring the impact of the disruptions was confirmed.
Celem artykułu jest zwrócenie uwagi na zagadnienie przeprojektowywania i rekonfiguracji łańcucha dostaw w koncepcji SCRES (Supply Chain Resilience). Artykuł prezentuje wyniki analizy literatury przedmiotu oraz badania ankietowego. Zidentyfikowano terminologię kluczową w badanym obszarze oraz przypisano ją do specyficznych faz zakłócenia. Zaproponowano też zamknięty cykl SCRES z pięcioma zdolnościami (abilities) zapewniającymi odporność łańcucha dostaw. Dodano w nim nową „zdolność do doskonalenia”, związaną z przeprojektowywaniem struktury i zasobów łańcucha dostaw w fazie po wystąpieniu zakłócenia. Wyniki badania ankietowego pokazują, że przedsiębiorstwa produkcyjne podejmują działania doskonalące w celu uniknięcia podobnych zakłóceń w przyszłości. Działanie polegające na przeprojektowywaniu struktury zakłóconego procesu realizowane jest najczęściej. W badaniu postawiono kilka hipotez. Opracowano też nowy konstrukt mierzący wpływ zakłócenia na łańcuch dostaw.

The Lyapunov redesign method is basically used for robust stabilization of nonlinear systems with an affine structure. In this paper, for the first time, by suggestion of a simple but effective idea, this approach is developed for robust stabilization of non-affine quadratic polynomial systems in the presence of uncertainties and external disturbances. In the proposed method, according to the upper bound of an uncertain term, a quadratic polynomial is constructed and with respect to the position of the roots of this polynomial, the additional feedback law is designed for robustness of the quadratic polynomial system. The proposed technique is also used for robust stabilizing of a magnetic ball levitation system. When the coil current is the control input of the magnetic ball levitation system, equations of this system are increasingly nonlinear with respect to control input and have quadratic polynomial structure. The effectiveness of the proposed control law is also demonstrated through computer simulations.

Opis:
Segmentation and computer assisted design tools have the potential to test the validity of simulated surgical procedures, e.g., trochleoplasty. A repeatable measurement method for three dimensional femur models that enables quantification of knee parameters of the distal femur is presented. Fifteen healthy knees are analysed using the method to provide a training set for an artificial neural network. The aim is to use this artificial neural network for the prediction of parameter values that describe the shape of a normal trochlear groove geometry. This is achieved by feeding the artificial neural network with the unaffected parameters of a dysplastic knee. Four dysplastic knees (Type A through D) are virtually redesigned by way of morphing the groove geometries based on the suggested shape from the artificial neural network. Each of the four resulting shapes is analysed and compared to its initial dysplastic shape in terms of three anteroposterior dimensions: lateral, central and medial. For the four knees the trochlear depth is increased, the ventral trochlear prominence reduced and the sulcus angle corrected to within published normal ranges. The results show a lateral facet elevation inadequate, with a sulcus deepening or a depression trochleoplasty more beneficial to correct trochlear dysplasia.

The aim of this paper is to explore and present a proposal for redesigning elements of the workplace for agech workers. The method of research was to observe, record, and measure the actions of sitting workers performing assembly operations on electrical products in the Kani Plant Nagoya Works of Mitsubishi Electric Co. (Japan). The evaluation index used in the experiment was obtained by measuring time motion elements, cycle time per product, and motion velocity waves of elderly workers. Those motion characteristics were then compared to the motion characteristics of young workers. The results led to job redesign elements being identified to reduce handling factors of high difficulty for aged workers and to the necessity to consider a coefficient of correction in Method Time Measurement (MTM) according to differences in the manufactured object’s weight.

In a competitive market the manufacturing companies have to produce cost effective products which can be realized by minimized production cost and higher effectiveness. The effective facility planning can significantly reduce the operational costs of companies. An adequate facility layout can result in the improvement of the performance of the production line. The Facility Layout Problem (FLP) is relating to location of objects (departments, workstations, machines, etc.) on a given site and the material flow between these objects. The goal of this study is to show the reasons, objectives and steps of a layout redesign process. The minimization of the workflow realized on the shop floor is an often applied an objective function during the layout redesign. Material flow efficiency is a commonly used term for the determination of the amount of workflow, which is the multiplication of material flow data and distance data. In this study, this mathematical method for workflow calculation is introduced. The described case study shows how the efficiency and reduced manufacturing cost of a real manufacturing system can be improved by re-layout design, while smaller floor space is needed for the production.

Structures of rail vehicles are designed for a useful structural life of 30 years. However, structural problems which reduce the mechanical performance of the structure might appear due to normal operation conditions and, in some cases, make it unsuitable for a safe operation. This document presents the structural diagnosis of a metro system and the method for the redesign of structural elements of rail vehicles that was derived from this diagnosis, so that the structural performance of both the element and the whole structure is improved. It is based on the European standards related with aluminium and railway applications, and considers the necessary aspects to produce a safe solution for the final design.
Konstrukcje pojazdów szynowych przeznaczone są na okres eksploatacji 30 lat. Problemy użytkowania zmniejszają wydajność konstrukcji, co może pojawiać się z powodu anormalnych warunków eksploatacji i sprawia w niektórych przypadkach, że pojazd nie nadaje się do bezpiecznej eksploatacji. W tej pracy przedstawiono diagnozę strukturalną elementów systemu „metra” i sposób przebudowy elementów konstrukcyjnych pojazdów szynowych, które wynikają z diagnozy. To powoduje, że wydajność strukturalna elementu i całej konstrukcji jest lepsza. Całość postępowania jest oparta na europejskich standardach związanych z aplikacjami aluminium w kolejnictwie i wskazuje na niezbędne aspekty produkcji bezpiecznych rozwiązań dla końcowego efektu.

In this paper, a control framework including active fault-tolerant control (FTC) and reference redesign is developed subject to actuator stuck failures under input saturations. FTC synthesis and reference redesign approaches are proposed to guarantee post-fault system safety and reference reachability. Then, these features are analyzed under both actuator stuck failures and constraints before fault-tolerant controller switches. As the main contribution, actuator stuck failures and constraints are unified so that they can be easily considered simultaneously. By means of transforming stuck failures into actuator constraints, the post-fault system can be regarded as an equivalent system with only asymmetrical actuator constraints. Thus, methods against actuator saturations can be used to guarantee regional stability and produce the stability region. Based on this region, stuck compensation is analyzed. Specifically, an unstable open-loop system is considered, which is more challenging. Furthermore, the method is extended to a set-point tracking problem where the reachability of the original reference can be evaluated. Then, a new optimal reference will be computed for the post-fault system if the original one is unreachable. Finally, simulation examples are shown to illustrate the theoretical results.
