Opis:
The choice of appropriate additives to alternative type of fuels determines the basic problem related with diversification of fuels used to the internal-combustion engines. The research micro engine with swept volume of 165 mm3 and the rotational speed reaching 25000 rpm was fuelled with various liquid fuels of the methyl and ethyl alcohol base. To the alcohol, additives were added with various percentage compositions, such like castor oil and nitro methane. In the fuel system the mixer of fuel with air was applied, that permitted on supply with the liquid fuel, but the composition of the fuel-air mixture was controlled with the quantity of supplied air. Registered was the graph of compression pressure in mini combustion chamber, the maximum power and shaft output torque was measured with the different composition fuels supplied to engine. Research proved that not only alcohol type applied as fuel, but also above all percentage participation of additives to the fuels influenced most on the micro engine work parameters. For the same type of alcohol, but with the different additives, the maximum power and the maximum torque differed significantly. For the micro engine of this type, the best fuel was based on the methyl alcohol and has composition of 60% methanol as fuel, 15% nitro methane (CH3NO2) as fuel additive and 25% of lubricant - castor oil. Article presents the design of the power shaft output micro engine, tested fuels, exemplary graphs of compression pressures in mini chamber on the prototype of a miniature power shaft engine, graphs of the rotary torque and of the engine power of supplied with various fuels.

Opis:
An aim of work was analysing of combustion and ignition processes in chambers with small volume at the use of different sorts of fuels, fuel liquid and air mixtures and fuel gas ones. For experiments, the machine of single compression the cubic capacity of 400 mm3 approx and average piston speeds 4 m/s was used. Investigated physical processes allowed better recognizing processes occurring in miniature- real engines. For the feeding of the machine of single compression, homogeneous mixtures of hydrogen with air, propane with air and mixtures methyl and ethyl alcohol in the stoichiometric relation with air were used. Adequately earlier prepared mixtures warranted the repeatability conditions of the experiment. Experiments effected with the machine of single compression showed small increases of pressure from combustion process. The occurrence this can be explained with significant heat conduction to walls during comparatively long compressing and combustion. In carried research with the machine of single compression with very large ratio surface combustion chamber to its volume, one obtained comparatively low value of the maximum compression pressure. The researches showed that on processes of compression, combustion and ignition, the greater influence had geometry of combustion chamber, average piston speed than sorts applied fuels.

Opis:
Process of development of vehicles is nowadays preceded by extensive modelling tests, which allow evaluating influence of applicable design solutions on future utilitarian parameters of the vehicle. Here, estimation of vehicle's dynamics by measuring of acceleration time from 0 to 100 km/h can be an example. Similar, maximal speed, pollutants emission or fuel consumption under speciflc conditions of vehicle's operation can be the example. Modelling research allow to shorten time of introduction of new vehicle for production significantly. Most eager group of model used in simulation tests of vehicles, according to short time of calculation, is black box models. They do not take into consideration they cyclic type of operation, however, it is possible to identify fast and simple their coefficients. This work involves description of reciprocating engine tests, which have been done under transient and steady-state conditions. Transient conditions were forced by rapid change of engine control signal. During the tests differences of torque generated by engine under transient and steady-state conditions have been registered for the same control signal. Basing on the received results a new algorithm of transient torque calculation has been proposed. In the presented model value of the transient torque has been combined with the engine control signal and others engine parameters, which deser ibe transient history of the engine. Hence, iterative procedures of the transient torque calculation with declared time step have been implemented.

Opis:
During research works concerning piston internal-combustion engines specifications of these objects are often needed. This data is usually dispersed and reaching to some is hampered or impossible. Therefore, an electronic database was drawn up about the most important ship producer’s piston internal-combustion engines for needs of exploitation investigations in the destination of gathering the necessary information. This paper presents a database of global marine diesel engines. For example, engines of the following companies were described: Akasaka Diesel, CAT, Cummins, Fiat, Hyundai, MTU, Niigata Power Systems, Pielstick, Scania, Volvo Penta etc. Information was obtained from various sources, so as websites of producers, advertising catalogues, or books and magazines about subject matter associated with marine diesel engines. This information was collected and written with the help of the program Microsoft Office. Gathered data was divided in engines of the main drive and emergency, containing details about producers, types and parameters of 2-stroke engines and four-stroke. The base enables supplementing and the alteration of entered data. Produced engines are usually operated by several dozen years after producing on swimming objects. Produced internal combustion engines are usually operated by several dozen years after producing on floating objects, and producers are merging or are stopping existing.

Opis:
The goal of the presented study was analyzing the economic conditions for the operation of a gas-fired power plant in the National Power System (KSE). The paper was analyzing electricity demand and methods of covering that demand with special focus on peaking sources. Shortages of power in the National Power System may be covered by import, reduction of consumer loads and by dedicated peaking sources. The authors have attempted to determine sales prices of electricity produced by peak power plant with a power of approx. 200 MW, at which the project is feasible. Two plant technologies were compared: aeroderivative gas turbines and reciprocating engines. For each of those cases a techno-economic analysis was performed along with a simplified analysis of sensitivity to selected parameters. Abilities to provide ancillary services such as emergency operation and operational capacity reserve were also taken into account. Calculations reveal that the specific costs of generating electricity at investigated plants greatly exceed electricity prices achieved in the market. However extra payments which would be required by peaking sources are at the same time much lower than the cost of load reduction (negawatts) or costs suffered by the industry due to restrictions in power supply. In addition, the provision of ancillary services, including secondary frequency regulation, significantly improves the economics and functionality of the proposed peak load power plant.

Opis:
This article presents selected results of investigations on adverse events of ships throughout one year. The investigations included mainly merchant vessels used to transport bulk material and heavy objects. Ships have been divided into functional systems and elements and into navigational and machine parts. An attempt was made to classify the causes of accidents and evaluate material losses. The quantitative analysis of the causes of the events leads to different conclusions than those reached on the basis of the analyses of losses. Although the failures on-board the vessel occurred more frequently, the costs of machine adverse events were larger. The most critical consequences was fire of a ship caused by loosening of the bleed screw of the fuel filter. Auxiliary engines of the vessel were operated in different external and internal conditions, and were fed by distillation fuel. As a consequence, the evacuation of the crew and fire suppression were required, using the CO2 installation of the ship. The ship was stopped and deprived of its primary sources of electric energy. An analysis of the event was along with the elaboration of a plan of preventive measures. The results should be useful for selecting the monitored diagnostic objects of vessels.
