Opis:
Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie oraz omówienie wyników eksperymentu związanego z percepcją emocjonalną poezji. W badaniu podjęto próbę weryfikacji hipotezy, według której pojawienie się znanego nazwiska kojarzonego jako wielki poetycki talent wpłynie na silniejsze deklaratywne natężenie przeżywanych emocji. Przebadano 110 osób (52 mężczyzn; 58 kobiet) podzielonych na cztery losowo dobrane grupy. Arkusze poszczególnych grup różniły się między sobą nazwiskiem rzekomego autora lub jego brakiem (grupa kontrolna). Wyniki udowodniły, że autorytet wpływa nie tylko na siłę deklarowanych emocji, ale też istotnie determinuje rodzaj przeżywanej emocji. Doprowadza to do wniosku, iż utworowi poetyckiemu częściej przypisujemy cechy i emocje kojarzone z jego autorem niż z samą treścią utworu.
The purpose of this article is a presentation and discussion of the results of an experiment connected with the emotional perception of poetry. This research sought to verify the hypothesis which states that revealing a famous name, associated with huge poetic talent, influences the intensity of emotions experienced. 110 people were tested (52 men, 58 women) in four randomly selected groups. Each group had a sheet of paper with the same text but with different authors' names or without any name (control group). The poem was written specially for this experiment. The next step was to measure of type and stremgth of emotions experienced on a scale of 1 to 7. The results proved that author's status not only influences the strength of emotion, but also determines the type of emotion. This suggests that more often we attribute the character and emotion of a poetic work to the author, rather than the content of the work.

The subject of the article is the aesthetic reception of concrete poetry and the possibility of its use in foreign language classes. Reception aesthetics concentrates on the reception of the work and not its production. Concrete poetry works on sight and hearing, combines decoding of letters with visual perception and creates special opportunities for aesthetic reception in foreign language classes. The article draws attention to the phenomenon of text communication. The historical background and the first attempts to experiment with concrete poetry are discussed. Works of concrete poetry bring together aesthetics and didactics, which justifies their use in class. The functions and objectives of working with concrete poetry in the lesson are discussed and examples of works included in textbooks and examples of lesson scenarios are given.

This article focuses on the career of Jerzy Pleśniarowicz, the well-known Polish translator of Slavic literatures and poet associated with the Józef Czechowicz poetry group, and who, in his capacity as dramatist and theatre director, has directed on the Polish scene plays by Slovak dramatists including Július Barč-Ivan, Ivan Bukovčan, Ľubomír Feldek, Osvald Zahradník. The article discusses the output of this poet, viewing him primarily as a translator of Slovak literature; it goes on to analyse his Polish translations of Slovak poetry published in the 2018 volume Wiersze i przekłady wierszy (Poems and Translated Poems). The anthology focuses on the representatives of three main groups: the surrealist poetry group consisting of, among others, Rudolf Fabry, Vladimír Reisel, Pavol Bunčák, Július Lenko, and Štefan Žáry; the Trnavská skupina poetry group, including Ľubomír Feldek, Ján Ondruš, and Ján Stacho; and finally the Mladá tvorba group with the contemporary poets Milan Rúfus, Miroslav Válek, Ján Buzássy, Vlastimil Kovalčík, Vojtech Kondrót, Štefan Strážay, and Vojtech Michálik. The author considers Pleśniarowicz’s translation choices, which are also a strong declaration of his views. She elucidates his translation strategies, pointing out close ties with the poetics of his own work, and also discusses the contemporary significance of this poetry in the Polish sphere of reception.
Príspevok sa zameriava na osobnost’ Jerzého Pleśniarowicza, známeho poľského básnika zo skupiny poetov súvisiacich s poéziou Józefa Czechowicza, divadelného režiséra, ktorý priniesol na poľskú divadelnú scénu drámy slovenských dramatikov (Júliusa Barča-Ivana, Ivana Bukovčana, Ľubomíra Feldeka, Osvalda Zahradníka) a najmä prekladateľa slovanských literatúr. Autorku článku zaujíma fenomén Pleśniarowicza ako prekladateľa slovenskej literatúry. V stati sa podrobne analyzujú jeho poľské preklady slovenskej poézie, predstavené v zborníku Wiersze i przekłady wierszy, ktoré boli uverejnené v Poľsku v roku 2018. Štúdia zohľadňuje výber prekladov, ktoré sú silnou deklaráciou prekladových a poetických názorov Pleśniarowicza, okrem iného preklady predstaviteľov surrealistickej skupiny poézie (Rudolfa Fábryho, Vladimíra Reisela, Pavla Bunčáka, Júliusa Lenka, Štefana Žáryho), básnikov z Trnavskej skupiny (Ľubomíra Feldeka, Jána Ondruša, Jána Stacha), predstaviteľov skupiny Mladá tvorba a súčasných básnikov (Milana Rúfusa, Miroslava Válka, Jána Buzássyho, Vlastimila Kovalčíka, Vojtecha Kondróta, Štefana Strážaya či Vojtecha Mihálika). Príspevok tiež reflektuje interpretáciu prekladateľských stratégií Pleśniarowicza, úzko spojenú s jeho poetikou, a tiež zahŕňa diskusiu o súčasnom význame prekladanej poézie v poľskom horizonte prijatia.

Od ponad dekady Marek Krajewski publikuje kryminały, w których pojawia się postać oficera policji Eberharda Mocka. Choć proletariusz Mock jest synem szewca, uczył się w gimnazjum, a nawet na uniwersytecie. Widzimy, jak w międzywojennym Wrocławiu przypomina sobie klasyczne teksty, które nadal czytuje w oryginale. Nie jest jedynym policjantem z powieści kryminalnej, który ma taki zwyczaj. Do klasycznych tekstów powraca również we współczesnej Wenecji Commissario Brunetti, bohater opowieści Donny Leon. Jednak dobry glina Brunetti, człowiek spokojny i ustatkowany, szczęśliwy mąż wykładowczyni anglistyki na Uniwersytecie Ca’ Foscari, bardzo się różni od złego gliny Mocka, bohatera bardziej impulsywnego, nieustannie pobudzanego przez rudowłose prostytutki. Mock studiował kiedyś języki klasyczne i publikował artykuły naukowe po łacinie. Teraz prowadzi rozwiązłe życie, spędzając więcej czasu w burdelach niż w domu i to nie tylko z powodu obowiązków służbowych. Może to intensywne wspomnienia sprawiają, że działa w sposób tak niezrównoważony? Najczęściej Mock przypomina sobie swoją edukację klasyczną nagle, mimowolnie, tak, jakby przypominał sobie traumę. Kiedy przyjrzymy się bliżej, okazuje się, że te na pierwszy rzut oka przypadkowe cytaty stanowią komentarz do narracji, a proces ten jest zrozumiały wyłącznie dla Mocka, który upodabnia się coraz bardziej do zanurzonego w klasyce samotnika. Jako że jego siłami napędowymi są olbrzymi gniew i przytłaczający smutek, Mock odzwierciedla wielkiego bohatera Homeryckiego, Achillesa.
For more than a decade now, Marek Krajewski is publishing crime novels, starring police officer Eberhard Mock. Although son of a shoe-maker, prole Mock went to high-school, even to university. In Wrocław between the wars, we see him remembering his classical texts, which he still reads in the original. He’s not the only police man in a crime novel to do so. In contemporary Venice, Commissario Brunetti, the protagonist of Donna Leon’s stories, regularly returns to classical texts, too. Good cop Brunetti, however, a calm and settled man, luckily married to a professor of English at Ca’ Foscari, differs much from bad cop Mock, a more agitated character, unremittingly aroused by red-haired prostitutes. Once, Mock studied classical languages and published academic papers in Latin. Now, we find him leading a dissolute life, spending more time in brothels than at home, and this not only for reasons of duty. Perhaps, his intense flash-backs make him behave so erratically? In fact, more often than not, Mock remembers his classical education suddenly, involuntarily, as if he is reminded of a trauma. On closer inspection, these at first sight arbitrary citations comment on the narrative, a process intelligible to Mock alone, who more and more imitates the life of a highly classical loner. Since monstrous anger and over-whelming sorrow are his driving forces, Mock mirrors a great Homeric hero, Achilles.

The aim of the article is to present the position of Brazilian poetry in the Polish literary system using the examples of translations of poems by Carlos Drummond de Andrade. A library query has proved him to be the Brazilian poet whose works are most frequently translated into Polish. However, he remains little known in Poland, which results from both: lack of the representative publications in the mainstream and the quality of translations.

The author in this short essay introduces to the academic and scientific community an unpublished poem of Peter Arivabene, a learned poet who lived in the second half of the fifteenth century. The codex, which contains the poem is kept in the Library of Palazzo Piccolomini in Pienza, where Prof. Orazio Antonio Bologna saw it for the first time on October 12th, 2012. Becoming acquainted with the contents of the codex and believing to give a valuable contribution to the knowledge of the poet, he transcribed, translated and published the contents of the codex. In this study, for the first time, Giovanni Pietro Arrivabene is mentioned as a poet, because Humanism and Renaissance’s scholars already knew him but only as the secretary of Cardinal Francesco Gonzaga and as the abbreviator and secretary in the Vatican curia from 1482, where he remained until 1491 under the popes’ service. The long poem, begun around 1459 when the poet was about 20 years old, was completed after the diet of Mantua, which ended on January 19th, 1460. The fine poem reveals a deep and refined culture even though there are uncertainties and redundancies peculiar to youth.

In their ‘pre-historical’ phase (1968–1983), Popular Music Studies in Poland displayed a specificity resulting from a different political and cultural history and, to certain extent, from cultural isolation during the period of state socialism. Adorno’s works on popular music remained probably unknown until the last two decades to the majority of Polish cultural historians, causing them to come up with their own ideas. The article aims at reconstructing how the first striking analyses of popular music in Poland came from the field of literature studies, in particular from baroque literature scholar Czesław Hernas, poet and scholar Edward Balcerzan, poet, translator and literary critic Stanisław Barańczak and from his wife Anna Barańczak.

The Author is interested in the states of becoming silent, discontinuing one’s utterance, which are associated with certain mechanisms of the functioning of the brain, as well as in the observation of such states in different artistic disciplines. Looking for an answer to the question how aposiopesis operates in words, sounds, and images, she analyzes pieces of music, poems (Zbigniew Herbert’s Pora), and examples of visual arts (Wojciech Pakmur’s paintings of the tango). In her reconstruction of the research field, the Author refers to rhetoric ( Jerzy Ziomek, Seweryna Wysłouch), the philosophy of language (Michel Foucault, Jean-François Lyotard), and neurophenomenology. The aim of the article is to suggest a new mode of reading that seeks inspiration and language in works from the field of neuropsychology (Maria Pąchalska), hermeneutic phenomenology (Mark Johnson), or neurology (António Damásio, Oliver Sacks). The Author’s analyses refer to Raoul Schrott and Arthur Jacobs’s concept (Gehirn und Gedicht, 2011), and the conclusions confirm that one should not look for a model (pattern) in the reception of art, but describe mental processes. The proposed mechanism of interpretation is most accurately reflected by the metaphor of dance improvisation, where one does not meditate on and then perform particular steps and gestures, but “thinks in motion.” This mode of reading emphasizes the spatial dimension of thought processes and their dynamic nature.

The article presents literary friendship between the poet and Karl Dedecius – the first and most important translator of his poetry into German. The article is an introduction into their voluminous correspondence. Letters that present Dedecius’ efforts aimed at anchoring Her-bert’s creativity into German language and rising in it related literature, reveal for us the figure of the poet and his half-emigrant condition. The article discusses Herbert’s poem Col-antonio – S. Gierolamo e il Leone, poem dedicated to his German translator. Saint Jerome presented in the poem is a patron and a symbol of perfection for translators. He is distin-guished not only through his titanic work, but above all through his attitude based on open-ness and courage.

Jest to praca sumienna, ukazująca dobry warsztat filologiczny jej Autorki, wzbogacająca naszą wiedzę o liryce. Studium powstało pod kierunkiem wybitnego znawcy polskiej sztuki wiersza, prof. Piotra Śliwińskiego, jako praca magisterska, obroniona w 2008 r. Publikacja jest bardzo ważna, chociaż nierówna, ale spowodowane jest to ówczesnym małym doświadczeniem Badaczki. Autor omówienia zna, oczywiście, kolejne prace Anity Jarzyny, udowadniają one, zdaniem recenzenta tomu o Norwidzie, że mamy do czynienia ze świetną komentatorką polskiej poezji.
The article discusses Anita Jarzyna’s book “Pójście za Norwidem”(w polskiej poezji współczesnej), published in Lublin in 2013. It is a diligent work, showing good philological skills of its author andexpanding our knowledge about lyric poetry. The study was created under the direction of an outstanding expert in Polish poetry, Prof. Piotr Śliwiński, as an MA thesis, defended in 2008. The publication is very important, although erratic, but it is attributable to the researcher’s little experience at that time. Of course, the author of the review knows the subsequent works of Anita Jarzyna, which, according to the reviewer, prove that we are dealing with a great commentator of Polish poetry.

The article discusses Anita Jarzyna’s book “Pójście za Norwidem” (w polskiej poezji współczesnej), published in Lublin in 2013. In my paper I focus on the well-known Greek mythical as well as literary figure, known mainly from Homer’s Odyssey, Odysseus’ faithful wife, Penelope. Attention is given to the interpretation of the Homeric prototype in Modern Greek 20th century poetry. The successive metamorphoses of the image of Penelope are traced in Nikos Kazantzakis’ The Odyssey, Yiannis Ritsos’ Penelope’s Despair, Katerina Anghelaki-Rooke’s Says Penelope, Kyriakos Charalambides’ Penelope Recognizes Odysseus, Penelope’s Odysseusand Pandelis Boukalas’ Penelope. The analysis shows ambiguous attitude to the traditional image of Penelope and tendency of Modern Greek poets to demythologize her and to show the scene of anagnorisis in Homer‘s Odyssey in modern context as well as with more psychological probability.
