    The last few years are the time of the ongoing integration of Europe and its vivid discussion about it. The thorny issue is the role and the place of Christianity in the life of Europe. Pope John Paul II had authoritatively taught on the issue. His teaching is a kind of antidote against those who are in favour of Europe without God. The European culture is not a monolith since it is inhabited by many nations with a different characteristic but all are rooted in the same values of the Good News acknowledged on the Continent. The present time – and especially the centuries after the Enlightenment – seems to be the time of abandoning Christianity. As the result of such a process, Europe witnessed two totalitarian systems responsible for numerous crimes. A human being wanted – without God’s participation - to decide about right and wrong. They were tempted like the first parents in Eden. They were changed from godlike humans to objectified ones – from “homo sapiens to homo demens”. John Paul II and many authors dealing with the processes of mankind underlined the need to build unity in Europe in close connection to Christianity. Christianity is an important element of culture in which the man is not restricted to his mortal life but opens up for a supernatural perspective. Through Christianity the European culture is richer and the man fully developed. Taking Christianity into consideration in his life, man can discover the truth about himself and his true relation to God. Only the truth allows man to grow and achieve his perfection, whereas falseness condemns him to the degeneration.

    The paper is aimed at systematizing the thoughts of Mieczysław A. Krąpiec on the subject of relations. The author reconstructs Krąpiec’s justification for the reality of relations, the distinction of necessary relations, and the importance of relations in metaphysical cognition. The analyses are conducted on the basis of the following problems: a) the existence of beings, and especially the subontic relationship between essence and existence that runs through all reality; b) the way in which beings exist and are cognized, where transcendental relations indicate the analogous character of these beings; c) the cognition of the Absolute, which is only possible through the discovery of transcendental relations in contingent beings.

    Opis:
    A relevant problem in political philosophy and political theory is the distinction between political and utopian arguments. The boundary between these two types of argumentation may be blurred, which leads us to the point when we often deal with contaminations of both ways of thinking in individual positions. This involves, for example, presenting a utopian argument as a political argument and vice versa. The main purpose of the article is to organize these issues by applying the argumentation model developed by Stephen Toulmin to the analysis of both theoretical approaches. The three main problems of this work are: 1) the distinction between political and ethical arguments; 2) identifying the proper structure of political argumentation; 3) evaluation of the coherence of the idea of a realistic utopia (proposed by John Rawls).
    Ważnym problemem na gruncie filozofii politycznej i teorii polityki jest rozróżnienie między argumentami politycznym a utopijnymi. Granica między tymi dwoma typami argumentacji bywa niewyraźna, co sprawia, że nierzadko mamy do czynienia z kontaminacją obu sposobów myślenia w poszczególnych stanowiskach. Polega to na przykład na przedstawianiu argumentu utopijnego jako argumentu politycznego i vice versa. Celem głównym artykułu jest uporządkowanie tych kwestii poprzez zastosowanie modelu argumentacji zaproponowanego przez Stephena Toulmina do analizy obu podejść teoretycznych. Trzy główne problemy pracy są następujące: 1) rozróżnienie argumentów politycznych i etycznych; 2) właściwa struktury argumentacji politycznej; 3) ocena spójności idei utopii realistycznej (zaproponowanej przez J. Rawlsa).

    Against the background of the model of the metaphysics of the person (presented in the article “The Existential Metaphysics of the Person. Part 1: The Classical Concept of the Person and the Metaphysical Theory of Esse,” Studia Gilsoniana 10, no. 2) which was initiated by Thomas Aquinas and developed in the Lublin Philosophical School, this paper focuses on the attempt to show the philosophical breakthrough that the concept of personal existence can bring, and points out the most important theoretical conse-quences of adopting this theory in metaphysics. It outlines the elements of a new meta-physics of the person, based on the concept of personal existence, and hypothesizes about the metaphysical turn this concept could make. The investigations undertaken in the paper lead to the conclusion that not all inferences have yet been drawn from the concept of esse personale, and that the entire depth of the metaphysics of existence has not yet been explored.
