Opis:
In the article, the authors present the concept of quality of vocational education and its implementation possibilities. The situation of the presented vocational training in Lithuania and discusses the results of the research. In the research, three vocational education schools were selected by random selection method from each region of Lithuania (Marijampolė and Alytus, Utena, Panevėžys, Šiauliai, Telšiai and Tauragė, Klaipėda, Kaunas, Vilnius). The mentioned above sampling method ensures that the generic set elements are selected independently from each other, they are irreplaceable. Data was collected from 24 Lithuanian vocational schools (i.e. 34% of schools were surveyed). 240 teachers, 340 students and 48 school heads were interviewed in total. Thus, the overall number of participants in the study was 628 (n = 628).

Opis:
The reforms of the initial vocational education in Poland (1999, 2012, and 2017–2019) placed learning outcomes in the centre of attention, strengthened work-based learning, introduced a forecast for the labour market demand for graduates, and launched a graduate monitoring system. However, several challenges remain, such as the low level of students’ general skills and inadequate funding. Recent surveys and the newly developed graduate monitoring system based on administrative data show that vocational education is heterogeneous. In addition to the differences in educational and labour market status by type of school, the situation of juvenile workers in the dual system differs from the situation of other students of sectoral schools. The educational and labour market experiences also vary by sector of training.

Opis:
Zdrowie i opieka zdrowotna należą do kluczowych zagadnień w życiu jednostki. Współczesne pielęgniarstwo zmierza do zapewnienia społeczeństwu coraz doskonalszej pod względem jakościowym opieki zarówno w chorobie, jak i zdrowiu. Ewolucje kształcenia pielęgniarskiego w Polsce przedstawiłam w zarysie w historii edukacji zawodu, aż do przedstawienia nowej koncepcji kształcenia na różnych poziomach, zgodnego z dyrektywami Unii Europejskiej. Doskonalenie kadr jest sprawą bardzo ważną , dlatego przedmiotem badawczym stały się postawy pielęgniarek wobec doskonalenia zawodowego jako elementu rozwoju zawodowego CPD. Ważność podjętego zagadnienia wynika z tego, że postawa w stosunku do wybranego zawodu implikuje jakość realizowania celów stawianych tej profesji. Zagadnienia opracowywane w problemie badawczym dotyczyły motywów, które skłoniły pielęgniarki do dalszego podnoszenia kompetencji zawodowych. Analiza wyników badania ankietowego przeprowadzonego wśród słuchaczy studiów pomostowych PWSZ w Legnicy pozwoliła mi ułatwić odpowiedź na pytanie problemowe. Wyniki badań przedstawione są w formie liczbowej, procentowej i wykresowej.
Health and health service are the most important aspects in the life of individuals. Contemporary nursing aims at improving the quality of services, regardless of the patient’s condition. My thesis shows the evolution of nursing education in Poland in the form of an outline of professional education history up to the new concept of education at various levels which is based on certain EU directives. The idea of personnel development is essential and this is why the research problem focuses on the attitude of nurses towards the professional development as one of the elements of continuing professional development (CPD). The importance of this issue follows from the fact Mariola Wozowczyk 91 that the attitude towards the profession implies the quality of services. The analysis of the results of the questionnaire completed by chosen students of bridging studies at the Witelon University of Applied Sciences in Legnica plays an important role in clarifying the answer to the problem question. The final findings are presented in the form of numbers, percentage figures and charts.

Objectives: The aim of this paper was to assess the effects of aerobic training on the quality of life and fatigue in patients with multiple sclerosis. Material and methods: A total of 53 patients with known multiple sclerosis (ICD G35.0) who began a standard 4-week rehabilitation programme were included in the study. Patients were divided into two groups: AT (aerobic training) patients (n = 21), who additionally underwent training on a lower limb cycle ergometer (three 10-minute sessions per day with an hour interval), and non-AT group of patients (n = 32). Life quality assessment based on the WHOQOL-BREF scale (World Health Organization Quality of Life), an assessment of motor impairment based on the Expanded Disability Status Scale by Kurtzke (EDSS) and an assessment of the severity of fatigue using the Fatigue Severity Scale (FSS) were performed at baseline and after four weeks. Results: After completing rehabilitation programmes, an improvement in the quality of life was observed both in AT and non-AT group. However, a more significant improvement in the two evaluated aspects, physical (p = 0.001 vs. 0.01) and psychological (p = 0.001 vs. 0.05), was observed in the AT group. However, no improvement in social terms was observed. There was also a reduction in the severity of fatigue (0.03 for AT group vs. 0.15 for non-AT group). There was no statistically significant improvement in the EDSS score in any of the groups. Conclusions: Aerobic training has beneficial effects on the quality of life and the severity of fatigue in patients with multiple sclerosis.
Cel pracy: Celem pracy jest ocena wpływu treningu aerobowego na jakość życia i zmęczenie u chorych ze stwardnieniem rozsianym. Materiał i metody: Badaniu poddano 53 pacjentów z rozpoznaniem stwardnienia rozsianego (ICD G35.0) rozpoczynających 4-tygodniowy standardowy program kompleksowej rehabilitacji. Uczestników podzielono na dwie grupy: AT (aerobic training – trening aerobowy) (n = 21) – dodatkowo zastosowano trening aerobowy na cykloergometrze kończyn dolnych (3 razy dziennie po 10 minut z godzinną przerwą) – oraz non-AT (n = 32), czyli bez treningu aerobowego. W obu grupach w 1. dniu i po 4 tygodniach przeprowadzono badania oceny jakości życia na podstawie skali WHOQOL-BREF (World Health Organization Quality of Life), ocenę niewydolności ruchowej według Rozszerzonej Skali Niewydolności Ruchowej Kurtzkego (Expanded Disability Status Scale, EDSS) i ocenę ciężkości zmęczenia za pomocą Skali Ciężkości Stopnia Zmęczenia/Znużenia (Fatigue Severity Scale, FSS). Wyniki: Po zastosowanym treningu ocena jakości życia poprawiła się zarówno w grupie AT, jak i non-AT, jednak bardziej znaczącą poprawę jakości życia w dwóch badanych aspektach zaobserwowano w grupie AT – pod względem fizycznym (p = 0,001 vs 0,01) i psychologicznym (p = 0,001 vs 0,05). Nie odnotowano poprawy pod względem socjalnym. Wykazano spadek nasilenia zmęczenia/znużenia – 0,03 (AT) vs 0,15 (non-AT). W żadnej grupie nie wystąpiła istotna statystycznie poprawa w skali EDSS. Wnioski: Stwierdzono korzystny wpływ treningu aerobowego na jakość życia oraz nasilenie zmęczenia u chorych na stwardnienie rozsiane.

The article substantiates the existence of a social contract for highly qualified specialists, professionals in quality management in the HEF. Objective: To evaluate the health-related quality of life (HRQOL) in patients aroused from prolonged coma after a severe traumatic brain injury (TBI) treated by physiotherapists trained in the ‘Academy of Life’ programme. It was assumed that physiotherapists who acquired this knowledge and experience would create a better therapeutic milieu, and would be more effective than physiotherapists who had not received this training. Material and methods: 40 patients who had suffered a severe TBI in a motor vehicle accident and had been aroused from prolonged coma were examined. All the patients underwent long-term rehabilitation according to a standard, phased programme. They were divided into two numerically even groups: an experimental group, treated by therapists trained in the ‘Academy of Life’ programme, and a control group, treated by physiotherapists who were not trained in this programme. The research instruments included an analysis of documentation, a structured clinical interview, and the Quality of Life Scale. Results: As hypothesized, the experimental group showed significant improvement in HRQOL, whereas in the control group improvement was statistically non-significant. Conclusions: The patients from the experimental group, treated by physiotherapists trained in the ‘Academy of Life’, obtained a significantly greater improvement in physical and social functioning, and thus in HRQOL, than patients from the control group.

Objectives The purpose of this mixed methods study was to examine the quality of work life of registered nurses working in obstetrics at 4 hospitals in northeastern Ontario and explore demographic and occupational factors related to nurses’ quality of work life (QWL). Material and Methods A stratified random sample of registered nurses (N = 111) selected from the 138 eligible registered nurses (80.4%) of staff in the labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum areas at the 4 hospitals participated. Logistic regression analyses were used to consider QWL in relation to the following: 1) demographic factors, and 2) stress, employment status and educational attainment. Results In the logistic regression model, the odds of a higher quality of work life for nurses who were cross trained (nurses who can work across all areas of obstetrical care) were estimated to be 3.82 (odds ratio = 3.82, 95% confidence interval: 1.01–14.5) times the odds of a higher quality of work life for nurses who were not cross trained. Conclusions This study highlights a relationship between quality of work life and associated factors including location of cross-training among obstetrical nurses in northeastern Ontario. These findings are supported by the qualitative interviews that examine in depth their relationship to QWL. Given the limited number of employment opportunities in the rural and remote regions, it is paramount that employers and employees work closely together in creating positive environments that promote nurses’ QWL.

The translation of the framework directive 89/391/EEC (Council Directive 89/391/EEC) into national law aims at supplying occupational protection and health care to all employees of large, small, and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) likewise, depending on assessed exposure. Prior incomplete protection of the German workforce with bias against the SMEs requires an assessment of quantitative and qualitative adequacy of present occupational health care practice and also of future needs. Therefore, the Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health of Germany initiated a study to evaluate the present state of occupational health care in 4 regions with different geographic and economic structure. Based on these data the future demand for adequately trained occupational physicians will be estimated by employing a statistical method that allows for including a large number of modifying variables (economic development, demographic change, etc.). Expected result of the applied technique are the estimated minimal and maximal number of occupational physicians that have to be trained to meet future demand. In the same study models of best practice will be identified and evaluated for general application. The project started in October 1997 and will be finished by January 2000.
