    Since 1948 Federal Republic of Germany functions in a system of social market economy. This system underwent various evolutions and now requires constant renewal and updates. This is due to the rapid changes that occur in the contemporary economy. The consequence of the dynamic development was negligent in the protection in the environment, which in turn influenced reduction of welfare and quality of life. Hence, the German parliament decided to appoint a Committee of Experts, which was to take care of the ways to overcome the negative effects of economic development. The aim of this paper is to present a method of creating a new alternative measure of well- being (indicator W3), as well as conclusions included in a Commission of Ex¬perts' final report and selected recommendations for economic politicians.

    Opis:
    Systemy transportowe zajmują znaczne powierzchnie we wszystkich miastach. Transport generuje szereg negatywnych zjawisk, tj. zanieczyszczenie atmosfery, podwyższenie temperatury powietrza, hałas, spadek atrakcyjności miejsca, zmniejszenie bezpieczeństwa itd., które często wykraczają poza szlaki komunikacyjne, obejmując m.in. tereny mieszkaniowe. Miasta są zatem miejscami koncentracji wielu uciążliwości, które należy zwalczać w trosce o jakość życia człowieka. Można im przeciwdziałać wykorzystując zieloną infrastrukturę, czyli rozwiązania oparte na elementach przyrodniczych. Zieleń w pasie drogowym, zielone torowiska, czy nawet zielone dachy na pojazdach mogą pełnić zarówno funkcje techniczne, jak i wiele innych wpływając korzystnie na środowisko miejskie. Artykuł skupia się na możliwościach wykorzystania zielonej infrastruktury do zmniejszenia negatywnych zjawisk, które są generowane przez transport w środowisku miejskim.
    Transport systems occupy a significant place in every urban setting. Transport generates numerous negative impacts including air pollution, elevated temperatures, noise, decreased attractiveness, reduced safety, etc., which often extend beyond transit corridors to affect residential areas. These negative impacts are particularly concentrated in cities, where they must be mitigated for the sake of improving residents’ quality of life. It is possible to counteract these negative impacts by using green infrastructure such as natural elements. For example, green space in transit corridors, green rail lines, and even green rooves on vehicles can serve a technical function and additionally have a positive impact on urban environments. This article focuses on the possibilities for improving green infrastructure in order to minimize negative impacts which result from transport systems in urban environments.

    Permanent hearing damage, which was diagnosed in the postlingling period - prevents “normal” life. Adult, mature people who until now had certain social roles and activities, suddenly experienced the phenomenon of exclusion as a result of hearing loss, which leads in many cases to personal dramas. The aim of the research was to determine the possibility of improving the quality of life of patients with postlingual deafness after implanting the cochlear implant. The study involved 96 patients aged 30-75 years, postlingally deaf, equipped with a cochlear implant. The study used the CES-D questionnaire, the PANAS-PL questionnaire and the diagnostic survey method (questionnaire survey). The results of the study show that in the majority of patients after implantation, there was a subjectively evaluated improvement associated with activity in various spheres of life. The use of the cochlear implant in post-lethal hearing impaired patients allowed to achieve satisfactory auditory functioning, which contributed to the improvement of the quality of life.

    The article is focuses on the consideration of building health security for seniors in the city. The authors point to the implications of demographic processes for urban development and show how these processes influence decisions in the area of building a safe environment for senior citizens. The potential of logistic management is seen in creating conditions for active aging, revealing various possibilities of including logistics in solving problems of seniors.

    Introduction: The study aimed to assess the influence of rhinoplasty on the quality of different aspects of life. The study group included 79 patients with congenital or posttraumatic nasal deformities (38 males, 41 females) aged from 17 to 49 (mean age 20 years) with open septorhinoplasty. Materials and Methods: Quality of life was assessed before and 3 months after surgery, using the WHOQOL-BREF questionnaire. Other patient data including demographic data, other surgeries and comorbidities were also registered. Completion of 71 preoperative and 70 postoperative questionnaires was accomplished. R esults showed statistically significant differences in the quality of life in all domains. Discussion and conclusion: Based on the conducted studies and after analysis of available literature, it may be concluded that functional and plastic surgeries including septorhinoplasty have an influence on the quality of life. To control postoperative results, tools evaluating this aspect should be used.

    ObjectivesThe measurement of the health-related quality of life (HRQOL) is one of the most important methods for self-assessment of health, which makes it possible to identify irregularities in the physical, mental and social functioning. The aim of the research was to determine HRQOL using the Health Related Quality of Life Questionnaire for Children and Young People (the KIDSCREEN-52 questionnaire) – the instrument recommended by the World Health Organization – which makes it possible to distinguish groups of adolescents with a diversified subjective sense of the quality of life.Material and MethodsThe study involved a group of 871 adolescents, 411 boys and 460 girls, aged 13–16 years, residing in the Świętokrzyskie Voivodship. The method of a diagnostic survey was used in the research. The KIDSCREEN-52 questionnaire, which is an instrument for examining the HRQOL of adolescents, was employed in the study. The k-means clustering method was applied, which made it possible to establish 3 groups of adolescents with a different subjective sense of the quality of life.ResultsThree groups of adolescents with a diversified subjective sense of the quality of life (high, average, low) were identified using the KIDSCREEN-52 questionnaire. The subjective quality of life in the majority of the respondents was high, in particular in those living in rural areas. The surveyed boys with a high subjective quality of life showed a significantly higher self-esteem, acceptance and peer support than the surveyed girls.ConclusionsThe KIDSCREEN-52 questionnaire is an accurate and sensitive tool for assessing HRQOL. It allows identifying 3 groups of adolescents with a diversified subjective sense of the quality of life. It can form the basis for further diagnosis of the bio-psycho-social functioning of adolescents.
