Opis:
For many years, the amount of waste generated on a global scale has shown an increasing tendency and their management and logistic is becoming a growing problem for most countries in the world. Waste management is an important issue to be addressed, as it concerns the three basic pillars of sustainable development: social, economic, and environmental. Therefore, it seems necessary to take initiatives to reduce the amount of waste generated and improve the waste management system. The article aims to analyse changes in the way of waste management and logistics in the European Union countries and the classification of these countries on the basis of the achieved effects in waste management. The article analyses three selected factors that reflect the effects of achieving environmental objectives in waste management. The cluster analysis method was used for the analysis. It found that EU countries differ in the quality of the results achieved in waste management, depending on the achievement of environmental management and sustainability objectives. In addition, the results of the analysis showed that the time factor has a significant impact on the classification of countries. High dynamics of the quality of effects in waste management were observed in the period under review.

The groundwater of the Nida valley was investigated to assess the quality of water source and monthly variations of the physicochemical parameters. A total of 70 water samples were collected from 7 sampling sites during a 10 months period from June 2021 to March 2022. Sampling frequency was once per month. The parameters such as temperature (T), electrical conductivity (EC), dissolved oxygen (DO), pH, total dissolved solids (TDS) were measured in-situ by using handheld device. Meanwhile, total nitrogen (TN), total phosphorus (TP), chloride (Cl – ), sulphate (SO42– ), manganese (Mn), iron (Fe), zinc (Zn), cadmium (Cd), lead (Pb), copper (Cu), chemical oxygen demand (COD) were analysed in the laboratory. According to the classification of Ministry of Marine Economy and Inland Navigation in Poland (2019), some investigated parameters are classified as unsatisfactory quality waters (class 4) and poor-quality waters (class 5) for a few specific months. Such as, TP concentrations obtained in June and January are classified as class 4, SO42– concentrations corresponded to classes 4 and 5 in June, July and August, and Mn concentrations (except in January) are settled in class 5. The high values of Fe in November are arranged in class 5 and in June, July to September and March are classified in class 4. Statistical methods were used as: Shapiro-Wilk test (α = 0.05), ANOVA test and post-hoc Tukey test (α = 0.05), Kruskal-Wallis test and Wilcoxon (Mann-Whitney) rank sum test (α = 0.05) estimated the significant differences in sampling months. Pearson correlation analysis (α = 0.01 and 0.05), principal component analysis (PCA) and cluster analysis showed correlation between the parameters and sampling months.

Opis:
It is the foundation of tunnel engineering to classify the rock mass surrounding tunnels. However, it is not easy to precisely determine the class of rock mass in practice as sufficient geological exploration need to be completed before rock mass classification, and there exists some disputes referring to the rationalization of dozens of methods for rock mass classification through the world. The principles and procedures of the basic quality method, which are widely used in China, are presented in this paper, and the application process of the basic quality method is showed with a project case of Zhongnanshan highway tunnel which has operated in safety for nearly a decade. Then, both the advantages and disadvantages of the basic quality method are analyzed in terms of practical engineering applications. In consideration of the defects of the basic quality method, the concept of the subclassing of surrounding rock in grade III-V is developed in the end and the criterion is given to determine the subclass of rock mass. This study is aimed at providing some useful ideas and a reference for rock classification in highway tunnel engineering.

Opis:
One of the critical decisions when manually coding text data is whether to verify the coders’ work. In the case of supervised models, this leads to a significant dilemma: is it better to provide the model with a large number of cases on which it will learn at the expense of verifying the correctness of the data, or whether it is better to code each case n-times, which will allow to compare the codes and check their correctness but at the same time will reduce the training dataset by n-fold. Such a decision not only affect the final results of the classifier. From the researchers’ point of view, it is also crucial because, realistically assuming that research has limited funding, it cannot be undone. The study uses a simulation approach and provides conclusions and recommendations based on 100,000 unique and hand-coded tweets.

Opis:
From a management perspective, water quality is determined by the desired end use. Water intended for leisure, drinking water, and the habitat of aquatic organisms requires higher levels of purity. In contrast, the quality standards of water used for hydraulic energy production are much less important. The main objective of this work is focused on the development of an evaluation system dealing with supervised classification of the physicochemical quality of the water surface in the Moulouya River through the use of artificial intelligence. A graphical interface under Matlab 2015 is presented. The latter makes it possible to create a classification model based on artificial neural networks of the multilayer perceptron type (ANN-MLP). Several configurations were tested during this study. The configuration [9 8 3] retained gives a coefficient of determination close to the unit with a minimum error value during the test phase. This study highlights the capacity of the classification model based on artificial neural networks of the multilayer perceptron type (ANN-MLP) proposed for the supervised classification of the different water quality classes, determined by the calculation of the system for assessing the quality of surface water (SEQ-water) at the level of the Moulouya River catchment area, with an overall classification rate equal to 98.5% and a classification rate during the test phase equal to 100%.

Efforts of the scientific community led to the development of multiple screening approaches for COVID-19 that rely on machine learning methods. However, there is a lack of works showing how to tune the classification models used for such a task and what the tuning effect is in terms of various classification quality measures. Understanding the impact of classifier tuning on the results obtained will allow the users to apply the provided tools consciously. Therefore, using a given screening test they will be able to choose the threshold value characterising the classifier that gives, for example, an acceptable balance between sensitivity and specificity. The presented work introduces the optimisation approach and the resulting classifiers obtained for various quality threshold assumptions. As a result of the research, an online service was created that makes the obtained models available and enables the verification of various solutions for different threshold values on new data.

Opis:
This study describes a method for evaluating the quality of human potential within Ukraine’s current conditions, by looking at the demographic and valeologic (healthy living) component. This research was conducted on the basis of Ukraine’s regional data. In addition to measuring the level of quality development according to this component, the method aims to classify regions on its basis. Such classification is a justification for regional policies geared at human development and for distribution of resources by region. The study uses a discriminant analysis as well as some methods of taxonomic analysis. As a result of the analysis, Ukrainian regions were divided into four groups. The method applied in this research is universal and can be used to assess and classify regions according to other components of human potential quality, provided that relevant indicators are applied. It can also be approved and implemented in other countries because the statistical database is quite unified in terms of indicators that are included in the analysis.
W artykule przedstawiono metodę oceny jakości potencjału ludzkiego we współczesnej Ukrainie poprzez pryzmat komponentów demograficznego i waleologicznego (w tym zdrowego trybu życia).

Opis:
The traditional education quality detection method is too single and unreasonable, which is not suitable to evaluate students' ability comprehensively. In this paper, the probabilistic neural network (PNN) algorithm is used to detect the education quality by considering the important impact between the various achievements of students. PNN algorithm originates from Bayesian decision rule, and it uses the non-linear Gaussian Parzen window as the probability density function. As PNN model has the virtues of strong nonlinear and anti-interfering ability, it is fit to detect the education quality by classifying the students' achievements. Besides, the influences of different evaluation models on classification accuracy and efficiency are also discussed in this paper. Furthermore, the effect of spread value on PNN model is also discussed. Finally, the actual data are used to detect the education quality. Experimental results show that the detection accuracy can reach 95%, and the detection time is only 0.0156s based on the proposed method. That is to say, the method is a very practical detection algorithm with high accuracy and efficiency. Moreover, it also provides a reference for how to further improve the teaching quality.

The two dipterocarp species, Dipterocarpus alatus and Hopea odorata, have been widely planted in degraded forest land in Southern Vietnam in the last decades. However, study on growth characteristics of these species and their associated factors is still limited. Therefore, the present study aimed to examine growth performance in different stand densities, and classify tree quality in 28-year old D. alatus and H. odorata plantations. Our results of analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) indicated that in pure stand aged 28 years, D. alatus outperformed H. odorata in tree growth, biomass and volume. In addition, except for four growth variables including tree height at the first branch (Hb), crown length (CL), crown ratio (CR) and linear crown index (LCI), the remaining variables were negatively affected by stand density. We observed that medium quality trees occupied the greatest proportion in both D. alatus (47%; n = 425) and H. od- orata (50%; n = 400). Except for CR and LCI, the class of good quality trees had the greatest values in the remaining examined growth variables. In linear discriminant analysis (LDA) model, the classification accuracy of testing set was relatively high in both D. alatus (85%) and H. odorata (91%). The most impor- tant variables for tree quality classification in D. alatus were crown diameter (CD) and diameter at breast height (DBH). Meanwhile, the most important variables in H. odorata were CD and tree height (H). These obtained results suggest that controlling crown size is important for shaping individual tree quality. Our data evidenced that D. alatus and H. odorata planted in Southern Vietnam with density equal or less than 500 trees per ha could yield high proportion of good and medium quality trees.

Opis:
Background: The inspiration to undertake research in the field of logistics customer service was formed by the strong relationship between service performance and customer satisfaction, observed within a study of the needs of logistics service providers' (LSPs) customers. The paper aims to understand which elements of service performance are important to customers purchasing logistics services in Poland and are worth investing in by LSPs. Methods: The study was conducted among 112 production and trade enterprises - customers of LSPs selected in a targeted manner. A questionnaire method was used. Based on the respondents' answers, a model was built in the form of a classification tree with customer satisfaction as a response variable and features of service performance as predictors. Results: The results show that two main characteristics affect customer satisfaction levels, namely logistics costs and shorter delivery times. According to the respondents, improving the level of customer service and increasing flexibility turned out to be less significant. However, the discriminant analysis has shown that high satisfaction with logistics outsourcing can also be achieved with the assumption of longer delivery. Conclusions: In order to stand out in the logistics services market, LSPs should not only invest in reducing costs and improving service times, but also in factors that will cause above-average customer satisfaction, like improved operational flexibility and service levels, including pro-environmental activities.

Quality costs calculation is a tool companies use to measure quality costs. The origins of interest in the field noted in foreign literature and practice date to the end of the 1960s, while in Poland the subject has been known since the 1970s. The purpose of the paper is to present and classify selected models of quality costs calculation. The consequences of the undertaken research work will be the organization of knowledge about models of this calculation, and the specification of the key elements used to build them. Quality costs calculation is the subject of the research. In order to achieve the pursued research objective the critical analysis method was applied to the literature on the subject in the areas of quality management and management accounting, as well as to selected journals. The present paper forms a body of theory with which to develop the author’s own model of quality costs calculation.

The purpose of this paper was to prove the role of the quality of online banking services in the shaping of consumer loyalty. Data specifying (1) consumer characteristics, (2) type and manner of using services and (3) levels of partial service quality assessments were analysed. Empirical research was carried out on a sample of 384 consumers, and the results were processed by performing a multidimensional exploratory analysis with the use of classification trees and the CTree algorithm. As a result, it was proven that for the identified types of loyalty, both cognitive and active-conative loyalty, the only statistically important predictors of consumer loyalty are some indicators of partial service qualities (6 in the first model and 4 in the second model). In this way, the rank of the quality in shaping of consumer behaviours in a digital economy was empirically proven.

The quality requirements of AESS typically exceeds the requirements of Standard Structural Steel (SSS), what increases the time and costs of the design and execution of AESS. Currently used classification of AESS distinguishes 5 categories of execution quality. This categorization has a hierarchical structure, each higher category of structure execution contains all the properties of lower category. The basis of presented classification is the degree of human visual perception of the structure. It is mainly related to the distance of the potential observer from the structure, which allows in varying degrees to see the details of structure execution. Joints and connections are the main means of architectonic expression in architecturally exposed steel structures. The principles of joints and connections shaping in AESS are the same as for SSS but additionally some requirements to the expected aesthetic are formulated. This additional requirements cause that AESS can be significantly (even a few hundred percent) more expensive than SSS with exactly the same functionality and durability. However, PN-EN 1090-2 [7] gives no provisions about AESS executions, which may impede mutual understanding between architect, structural engineer, contractor and investor.
