The article is one of a series of articles (Molenda, 2020) in which the results of studies on the assessment of the quality policy in industrial enterprises operating in Poland have been described. When carrying out the surveys in the years 2015-2019, in addition to the quality policy, the type of organizational culture of enterprises was identified, among other things. This allowed to divide enterprises into 4 groups, depending on the dominant type of organizational culture identified according to the Cameron-Quinn methodology (Cameron K., Quinn R. 2003). This study compares the quality policies of these enterprises in terms of their orientation towards improvement characteristic of the TQM philosophy. The first part of the article describes the issue of the quality policy in the context of organizational culture. The body of the article contains the results of studies conducted among 166 enterprises. A preliminary statistical analysis of the results allowed to answer the question of what is the level of orientation of the implemented quality policy towards improvement and whether this level varies depending on the organizational culture.

The objective of this article is to present the results of research concerning the assessment of the actually implemented Quality Policy in social and cultural area of selected industrial enterprises. In the first part of the article, the essence of the Quality Policy and its implicational meaning for the functioning of the enterprise in the scope of quality were described. What is more, the study also contains the problems associated with analyzing the quality policy. The main part of the article contains the results of research carried out in the years 2015-2019 among 166 industrial enterprises carrying out their activity in Poland. The objective of the research was the assessment of the actually implemented quality policy in the enterprises. The data was obtained on the basis of survey carried out among representatives of middle management in each enterprise. Statistical analysis of the results allowed to assess the quality policy in groups of enterprises depending on their size, management system and the so-called level of independence in management.

The article concerns the need for teaching about the quality, as well as building pro-quality attitudes already at the school stage. The author presents quality issues, complications associated with its divergent understanding and its historical conditioning in Poland and also a brief explanation of the need of learning about quality since early childhood. TQM philosophy is described, as well as an overview of examples of building quality culture and education about quality in various countries of the world, together with their noticeable positive results. The current status of education on quality in Poland and quality issues affecting skills desired by employers is discussed.
Artykuł dotyczy konieczności edukacji na temat jakości oraz kształtowania kultury projakościowej już na etapie szkolnym. Przedstawiono w nim problematykę jakości, komplikacje związane z jej rozbieżnym rozumieniem oraz jej historyczne uwarunkowania w Polsce, a także krótkie uzasadnienie potrzeby kształcenia w zakresie jakości już od wczesnego dzieciństwa. Zaprezentowano również filozofię TQM oraz przegląd przykładów kształtowania kultury projakościowej i edukacji na temat jakości w różnych krajach świata wraz z ich zauważalnymi pozytywnymi rezultatami. Przedstawiono także obecny stan tej edukacji w Polsce i związek zagadnień dotyczących jakości z kompetencjami pożądanymi przez pracodawców.

The article presents how to use methods and tools in the area of quality engineering to assess the supply chain, having the example of the food industry. It outlines the regulatory requirements and standardization documents for the transport of dairy products. Using a questionnaire conducted it selects criteria that were directly used to assess the quality of the supply chain (network). Then, using the Pareto-Lorenz diagram the most important criteria were selected, which were also used in the study.

The article describes the process of planning internal audits carried out in the framework of a quality management system based on ISO 9001. The article presents some errors made in the planning process of internal audits. These errors are classified as potential causes of poor effectiveness audits. In the first part this article contains theoretical considerations in the planning of internal audits of quality management systems. The second part of the article presents the results of research. These results illustrate the effects of errors in the planning process of the audit. At the end recommendations for persons responsible for planning audits are included. These recommendations should improve the effectiveness of the internal audit planning, and thereby their value to the organization.

Enterprises functioning on the contemporary market oblige their suppliers to prove that they are ready to fulfil the requirements in a systematic and reproducible way. Such a proof can be an effective Quality Management System, functioning in an enterprise in accordance with ISO 9001-2008 standard. The effectiveness of the system depends among others on the degree of the employees’ involvement in the fulfilment of requirements and regulations resulting from the system documentation. The most frequently applied method for evaluating this effectiveness are reports on internal audits. However, the results of audits are not always sufficient. In the article the author will present an innovative method of evaluating a Quality Management System (QMS), based on the author’s survey study conducted among the employees of an industrial enterprise, which was aimed at exploring their opinions, the degree of engagement and acquaintance of QMS functioning in the enterprise. The results of the conducted research will be used by the Quality Management System Plenipotentiary to improve the system and co-operation between departments functioning in the organisation.

W niniejszym artykule przedstawiono proces zastosowania wybranych narzędzi inżynierii jakości do analizy i rozwiązywania problemów z wadliwością procesu obróbki plastycznej – kucia matrycowego w jednej z wybranych fabryk łożysk w Polsce. W pierwszej części w artykułu opisano i zobrazowano, za pomocą schematu blokowego, proces wytwarzania pierścieni łożyskowych w badanej fabryce. Analiza struktury wadliwości procesu kucia to kolejna część niniejsze opracowania. Strukturę wadliwości procesu zobrazowano za pomocą wykresu Pareto-Lorenza. Do identyfikacji przyczyn zidentyfikowanych wad krytycznych zastosowano diagramy przyczynowo skutkowe, które zawarto w przedostatniej części opracowania. Na końcu artykułu zawarto zalecenia mające na celu poprawę procesu kucia matrycowego w badanym zakładzie.
The article presents the process of using selected quality engineering tools for analysis and solving problems of the machining process – die forging in one of the selected bearings factories in Poland. The first part of this article, the production process of bearing rings in the factory was described using a flowchart. Analysis of the defect structure of the forging process is another part of this study. The defect analysis was depicted in the ParetoLorenz graph. Causes of critical defects were identified using the Ishikawa Diagrams. Thanks of it the recommendations were formulated to correct the die forging process in the researched company.

The concept of quality is inextricably related to achieving assigned purposes by an organization in an effective and efficient manner1 . When it comes to high quality of audits, it is manifested primarily by conducting procedures according to standards recognized not only at the national, but also international level2 . Like any term, “quality” needs some explanation as well. The aim of the article is to outline the issues of quality assurance and control according to the current international standards (The INTOSAI Framework of Professional Pronouncements, IFPP). The analysis of the documents indicates imprecision and inconsistency of the existing approach with regard to the separated parts of the above-mentioned system. The following sections of the article refer to the understanding of the issues of quality assurance and control in individual principles, standards and guidelines of INTOSAI in order to finally formulate the concept of the chain quality that can be concluded from these documents.

The article presents the essence of quality planning in the airline industry. There were characterized benefits, which airline industry can have during planning the quality of the products. There were discussed used forms of quality plans (board, flowchart, form, text). The attention turned on international normalizing documents, which, have use in quality planning in the airline industry. There was an example of creating quality plan during the repairs of aircraft engines in repair company.
W artykule przedstawiono istotę planowania jakości w branży lotniczej. Scharakteryzowano korzyści, jakie może mieć przedsiębiorstwo lotnicze planując jakość swoich wyrobów. Omówiono stosowane formy planów jakości (tablica, schemat blokowy, formularz, tekst). Uwagę zwrócono na międzynarodowe dokumenty normalizacyjne, które mają zastosowanie przy planowaniu jakości w branży lotniczej. Podano przykład sporządzenia planu jakości podczas remontu silników lotniczych w przedsiębiorstwie remontowym.

The aim of the paper is to discuss the concept of the efficiency of quality activities, its measurement conditionings and to verify the selected solutions in the context of a production company’s business practice. The research presented in the paper required a review of the subject literature, and the proposed solutions are identified on the basis of empirical data from the analyzed enterprise. The obtained results prove that it is possible to use both the indicator analysis and the assumptions of the model of Activity Based Costing (ABC) for evaluation of the economic efficiency of quality activities. The solutions presented in the paper may be used in practice by production companies which attach relatively high importance to the quality of the goods they manufacture.

This article presents the issues of quality research and improvement of logistics processes in the area of distribution of one of selected industrial enterprises. The case described concerns the producer of raw chemical materials, who acts as a supplier for industrial customers. The studied company, due to dynamic changes in product demand, very often outsources the distribution of raw materials to external transport companies. This solution results in limited supervision over commissioned processes, which may lead to increased probability of customer dissatisfaction. The article presents the results of the study of the quality of logistic processes implemented or commissioned in the examined enterprise. The assessment was based on the results of the customer satisfaction survey and the results of the analysis of received complaints regarding deliveries. Analysis of the causes of complaints allowed to identify the actions necessary to improve the quality of logistics processes. This article contains, among others, the criteria for the assessment of transport service providers and a set of recommendations to reduce the risks associated with logistics processes of deliveries.

TQM is a term associated mainly with ensuring the quality of production, where the emphasis is on quality in all parts of the production process. The introduction of TQM into the operation of a service company therefore seems to be more difficult. In the presented article we address the basic requirements for the introduction of TQM in a company providing road freight transport. The basic PDCA approach needs to be implemented in all processes of the actors involved in the supply chain. The article points out the fact that evaluating the quality of the provided service only on the basis of a single indicator, which is the monitoring of the number of complaints and claims, is not sufficient as evidence of the established TQM system. The customer requires evidence of long-term and serious monitoring. As part of this monitoring, it proposes the creation of an effective evaluation system for evaluating the quality of the external service provider. To determine the priority requirements of the customer, it is appropriate to apply several known simple evaluation methods. In the article, we applied the pairwise comparison method and the Saaty’s method to determine the order of importance of the quality criteria that we previously found in the customer survey: integrity of the consignment, compliance with the agreed delivery time and completeness of the shipment, including documents. We therefore recommend focusing on these criteria when providing TQM in the company.
