The paper presents practical execution of a course The Qualitative Research Methods at the two-year master’s programs 3+2 (MA) in pedagogy at the Faculty of Education of University of Białystok, conducted according to premises of research-based learning (RBL). The aim of The Qualitative Research Methods is to develop research competence of students in the area of designing, conducting and reporting qualitative research. During classes the students prepare team projects of qualitative research dealing with their everyday life. The paper presents the results of analysis of 161 projects of qualitative research done over three-year period (2017–2020). Methodological premises done by the students at the stage of research planning were reconstructed: 1) the topic of research; 2) the subject and the goals of research; 3) motivation of a subject choice; 4) research problems. The analysis allowed to establish that linking research with teaching enables students to gain knowledge of: 1) conducting scientific research; 2) the scientific field they study as well as the fields related to it; 3) team work (including one dealing with executing and presenting the scientific research); 4) themselves as researchers.

The purpose of the article is to analyze the idea of interdisciplinary research involving pastoral theology and sociology. This is one of the methodological proposals for research projects carried out under pastoral theology. Interdisciplinarity is understood as combining research methods for the cooperation of scientists from both disciplines in the process of planning, implementing and interpreting the results of empirical research. It is inspired by a problem identified in pastoral theology that requires exploration. The presentation consists of three parts. The first is devoted to the location of empirical research within pastoral theology. The second concerns the assumptions and significance of interdisciplinary research involving pastoral theologians and sociologists. In the final part, the areas of interdisciplinary cooperation among the research teams are pointed out. The potential of qualitative research as a space for cooperation among representatives of both sciences and as an important source of knowledge from the viewpoint of pastoral theology is shown. The comparative and synthetic method was used. The analysis shows that interdisciplinary research in the field of pastoral theology has great potential related to the acquisition and interpretation of multi-faceted empirical data and the designation of new research fields, which will significantly enrich the theological analysis process as well as the presentation and application of pastoral models.

Globalisation in education sector, intense competition between universities in Latvia, increase in requirements of applied teaching from private companies, growing exactingness from students – it all makes base to improve University curricula using different active teaching techniques for better knowledge capture. In the case study of University of Latvia tourism study programme authors included practice of active teaching method application used to improve student understanding and competences including research, surveys, observations, shadowing, monitoring and register of the tourist tracks, expert interviews and industry seminars, discussions and interviews with industry stakeholders, field trips, different tourism sector enterprise and organisation visits inspections, colloquiums, research result presentations in seminars and conferences, knowledge enhancing for sustainability, best practices and systems used by other countries. Many of active learning methods are as additional activities for students not included in the compulsory part of studies, therefore it is needed to establish an additional separate entity for tourism and sustainability activities for applied teaching and research at university – Tourism and Sustainability Research Laboratory. Separate research entity gives possibility to involve interested students from different study programmes and cooperation with other faculties.

Alongside other disciplines in social sciences, management researchers use mixed methods research more and more in conduct of their scientific investigations. Mixed methods approach can also be used in the field of production engineering. In comparison with traditional quantitative and qualitative research methods, reasons behind increasing popularity of mixed research method in management science can be traced in different factors. First of all, any particular discipline in management can be theoretically related to it. Second is that concurrent approach of mixed research method to inductive and deductive research logic provides researchers with opportunity to generate theory and test hypothesis in one study simultaneously. In addition, it provides a better justification for chosen method of investigation and higher validity for obtained answers to research questions. Despite increasing popularity of mixed research methods among management scholars, there is still need for a comprehensive approach to research design typology and process in mixed research method from the perspective of management science. The authors in this paper try to explain fundamental principles of mixed research method, its typology and different steps in its design process.
Obok innych dyscyplin w naukach społecznych, również w dyscyplinie nauk o zarządzaniu naukowcy coraz częściej korzystają z metod mieszanych w prowadzeniu swoich badań naukowych. Metody mieszane mogę również znaleźć zastosowanie w badaniach z zakresu inżynierii produkcji. W porównaniu z tradycyjnymi ilościowymi i jakościowymi metodami badawczymi, przyczyn zwiększającej się popularności mieszanych metod badawczych w naukach o zarządzaniu jest wiele. Po pierwsze każdy obszar w zarządzaniu może być teoretycznie związany z nimi. Po drugie w mieszanych metodach badawczych jednoczesne podejście indukcyjne i dedukcyjne umożliwia naukowcom generowanie teorii oraz testowanie hipotez w jednym badaniu jednocześnie. Ponadto zapewnia lepsze uzasadnienie wyboru metody badawczej i wyższą wiarygodność uzyskanych odpowiedzi na pytania badawcze. Pomimo coraz większej popularności mieszanych metod badawczych, nadal istnieje potrzeba kompleksowego podejścia do projektowania procesu badawczego z punktu widzenia nauk o zarządzaniu. W niniejszym artykule autorzy starają się wyjaśnić podstawowe zasady leżące u podstaw metod mieszanych, ich typologii i różnych etapów w procesie ich projektowania.

In the research within the pedagogy of labour, there is the need to broaden the choice of research methods. Both quantitative and qualitative methods may be in question. It can be assumed that such methods will prove useful as far as the issues of the pedagogy of labour are concerned. The pedagogy of labour, due to its specific scope and issues, is suited for using qualitative research methods to a large extent. The article presents examples of using this kind of methods.

Zaprezentowano modelową strukturę konspektu badań jakościowych oraz zasady ich prowadzenia. Artykuł zakończono podsumowaniem, które ma charakter wniosków.
The article discusses selected problems of qualitative research, received the applied logistics, its essence, the specifics. The article gives the definition of qualitative research, which is accepted by most scholars of the quality. Discusses the principle of suitability with respect to choice of methods, techniques and research tools. Has been interpreted to be situations in which you can combine quantitative and qualitative studies. Lists the schematics of the research process for qualitative research, qualitative methods used in the research of applied logistics issues. Shows the implementation of the outline structure and qualitative research of conducting these studies. The article was completed, that is the nature of the applications.

Już od dłuższego czasu obserwuje się rosnące zainteresowanie badaczy, naukowców, ale także praktyków prowadzących badania jakościowe narzędziami, które mogłyby wspomóc proces analityczny. Mimo to tematyka CAQDAS (komputerowego wspomagania analizy danych jakościowych) nie znalazła jak dotąd swojego miejsca w zbyt wielu rodzimych opracowaniach. To skłoniło nas do podjęcia współpracy w szerszym gronie badaczy, czego wynikiem jest ów tom, poświęcony niniejszej problematyce. Znajdują się w nim teksty osób, które wzięły udział w grupie tematycznej zorganizowanej podczas XV Zjazdu Socjologicznego w Szczecinie, ale także artykuły innych badaczy posiadających doświadczenie w stosowaniu nowoczesnych narzędzi wspomagających proces badawczy. Proponowany zbiór artykułów ma szansę stać się jedną z pierwszych tego typu publikacji, która zaprezentuje możliwości i sposób wykorzystania różnych programów CAQDAS w badaniach opartych na metodach jakościowych.
For a long time, a growing interest in tools which could support an analytical process has been noticed among researchers, scientists, as well as practitioners who run a qualitative data collection. However, CAQDAS (computer-assisted qualitative data analysis) gained popularity only in several domestic studies. This is the reason reason why we decided to work within a bigger group of researchers, what resulted in this very volume devoted to the above-mentioned subject. It embraces essays of people who participated in a focus group organized during the 15th Congress of the Polish Sociological Association in Szczecin, as well as articles of other researchers who are experienced in applying modern tools which support research process. This collection of articles may become one of the first such publications which present the possibilities and manners of using various types of CAQDAS programs in research based on qualitative methods.

Aim. Identification and construction of the typology of attitudes of health care professionals in Ukraine to the current COVID-19 situation and vaccination process. Methods. Transcripts of 49 semi-structured interviews subjected to thematic analysis constituted the subject matter of the analysis. On the basis of the categories identified within the thematic analysis process, a typology was developed, with due account of two parameters: the idea about the origin of the virus: artificial or natural, and the attitude of the informants to the policy (implementation of policy decisions) chosen by the authorities to fight the virus. Combination of these two parameters gives four standpoints—types of attitude of health care professionals to the risks associated with COVID-19. Results and conclusion. Analysis of the results has enabled to outline the problem field for assessing the risk of COVID-19, which includes three topics, as well as to point out four typical standpoints in the attitude displayed by health care professionals that are marked as “magical thinking,” “technological thinking,” “negativistic thinking,” “critical thinking.” Originality. The research was conducted during the third wave of coronavirus in Ukraine, therefore, it reflects the analysed opinions of health care professionals about the threat of COVID-19 and vaccination process. The fact that the research was performed using qualitative methods ensured focusing on subjective peculiarities of the perception of changes in the COVID-19 situation.

This study provides the first critical and systematic investigation of the literature on Means-End Chain theory after the ground-breaking book “Understanding Consumer Decision Making: The Means-End Approach to Marketing and Advertising Strategy” by Olson and Reynolds (2001). The sample of 157 articles published in the Science Direct, Emerald, and Wiley databases was investigated. The period covers scientific literature published from 2001 to 2018. The paper shows the main theoretical concepts, methodological approaches, research problems, and findings. The results of the literature review demonstrate that the Means-End Chain theory is an evolving area of research and is gaining importance in academia and management. Some important gaps in the knowledge of theoretical and methodological levels were identified, and the most important directions for further studies were proposed.
Celem artykułu jest systematyczny i krytyczny przegląd literatury dotyczący teorii łańcucha środków-celów i wywiadów drabinkowych wykorzystywanych w badaniach konsumenckich. Przegląd jest dokonany na podstawie 157 artykułów opublikowanych w bazach danych Science Direct, Emerald oraz Willey, w których uwzględniono opracowania wydane między rokiem 2001 a 2018. Artykuł przedstawia podstawowe koncepcje teoretyczne podejścia środków-celów, problemy badawcze, metody wykorzystywane w badaniach i główne wnioski z badań. Wyniki przeglądu literatury potwierdzają, że teoria łańcucha środków-celów jest obszarem dynamicznie rozwijającym się pod względem badawczym w świecie naukowym oraz w praktyce zarządzania. Zidentyfikowano luki poznawcze związane z obszarem teorii i metodologii badań i zaproponowano nowe kierunki przyszłych badań.

Aim. To define and describe the positions of Ukrainians in their attitude to the war on Russia and reflection of this attitude in the discourse of daily life in wartime. Concept/Methods. 25 transcripts of semi-structured interviews subjected to thematic analysis. Relying on the categories identified through thematic analysis, the criteria differentiating the attitude of Ukrainians to the war, viz. personalization/depersonalization, media practice of content consumption, assessment of the so called “we-they-relationship”, reflection on the changes in daily life, the process of adaptation to changes, ideas of exemplary behavior were established. Results and conclusion. The analysis of the results enabled to outline the problematic field of assessment of the attitude of Ukrainians to the full-scale war on Russia and reflection of this attitude in the discourse of daily life in wartime. Relying on the criteria differentiating this attitude, three typical positions in the attitude of Ukrainians to the war were outlined – that of external observer, optimistic fatalist, and rational optimist. Practical application. Clarification of the specific characteristics of the attitude of Ukrainians to the war and perception of the enemy under such circumstances enables to envisage the public opinion response to certain decisions related to the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, to plan communication campaigns promoting volunteer movement with due account of different positions taken by Ukrainians as well as to determine the degree of psycho-traumatizing of individuals in the crisis situation of war via discourse. Originality/Cognitive value. The study was conducted in October-November 2022, on the ninth month of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, and it reflects the thoughts of Ukrainian civilians concerning the war, its reasons, collective responsibility of Russians, and, finally, changes occurring in the life of the country and every individual, the process of adaptation to this complex situation. The use of quality methods (semi-structured interview) for the study ensured focusing on subjective peculiarities of the perception of war and daily life during in wartime. Conclusions: The typology of ideas, types of attitude of Ukrainians to the reality of war requires verification and further specification within a quantitative study aimed at clarification of quantitative figures representing the prevalence of the established positions.

In this article, I will discuss the position of King, Keohane and Verba. Referring directly to the issues of sociology and political science, these authors set the main goal of their considerations to show how to design a research that brings accurate conclusions about social and political life. Many of their comments are applicable to research in other fields of science, including in psychology. Qualitative, and not only quantitative, methods can be very useful in researching the IT environment. Educational organizations can apply the conclusions from studies which connect the qualitative and quantitative methods to assist in the staff development to achieve organizational goals. Also -in process of proper recruitment of leaders in business management or to assist the stuff to raise the performing of professional tasks, even self-development of stuff members should also use the scientific research findings. Hence I consider both – quantitative but also qualitative methods – worth quoting and analyzing.

Artykuł jest refleksją nad rozwojem i wyzwaniami rysującymi się przed multidyscyplinarnym środowiskiem badaczy dyskursu publicznego (dyskursów publicznych) w Polsce na przykładzie zainicjowanych w środowisku łódzkim Warsztatów Analizy Dyskursu, które następnie przerodziły się w Konsorcjum Analizy Dyskursu. Impulsem do napisania poniższych uwag była lektura redagowanej monografii zbiorowej Dyskurs elit symbolicznych. Próba diagnozy (Czyżewski i in., red., 2014, Warszawa: Wydawnictwo Akademickie Sedno), która stanowi pierwsze efekty trudnego założenia inter- i transdyscyplinarnej współpracy badaczy nie tylko reprezentujących różne dziedziny nauki, ale też różne podejścia w obrębie analizy dyskursu. Prowadzone rozważania podejmują próbę nie tylko krytycznej lektury tekstów zebranych w tomie, ale też starają się usytuować publikację w międzynarodowej perspektywie badań nad dyskursem.
This article provides reflection on the state-of-the-art and key challenges of qualitative discourse studies as a social science research method in Poland. It focuses on the so-called Workshops in Discourse Analysis [Warsztaty Analizy Dyskursu], a multidisciplinary research collaboration that, initially taking place informally at the University of Lodz, eventually evolved and became institutionalized as a national Consortium for Discourse Studies [Konsorcjum Analizy Dyskursu]. At its core, the article provides a critical review of the volume The Discourse of Symbolic Elites: Towards a Diagnosis (Dyskurs elit symbolicznych. Próba diagnozy [M. Czyżewski, K. Franczak, M. Nowicka, J. Stachowiak, eds., 2014]), which is the first major publication resulting from works of (selected) members of the aforementioned research consortium. As is argued in the article, the focal publication displays the significant amount of challenges faced by the multidisciplinary collaboration within the area of discourse studies. These challenges not only stem from the fact that discourse analysts working in Poland come from different arts & humanities and social science disciplines, but also are rooted in the fact that these researchers draw on various—and often significantly different—traditions in qualitative discourse studies, and often do not engage sufficiently in a constructive dialogue with existent and well-established approaches to discourse research. Hence, the article not only summarizes the key distinctive features of the volume under review, but also attempts to position the state-of-the-art of discourse analysis in Poland within the contemporary international landscape of (critical) discourse studies.

After the period of domination of quantitative research in Polish sociology of religion one can observe a growing interest in developing qualitative analyzes. The turn towards an interpretative approach has reasons both in the transformation of modern societies (modernization, individualization, mobility, interest in everyday life etc.), as well as transformations of religion itself (subjectivization, privatization, respirytualization, orientation in the search for sensations, etc.). The subject of the research is the use of autoethnography in the study of religious phenomena. The author analyzes the area of possible applications of this method, the expected benefits of using this perspective, but also its limitations. In her deliberations, she refers to two examples – works on religion available on the Polish publishing market in which this method was used.
Po okresie dominacji badań ilościowych w polskiej socjologii religii daje się zauważyć rosnące zainteresowanie rozwijaniem analiz jakościowych. Zwrot ku podejściu interpretatywnemu ma przyczyny zarówno w przemianach współczesnych społeczeństw (modernizacja, indywidualizacja, mobilność, zainteresowanie życiem codziennym etc.), jak i przekształceniach samej religii w kulturze Zachodu (subiektywizacja, prywatyzacja, respirytualizacja, orientacja na poszukiwanie doznań itd.). Współczesna, zorientowana na indywidualne doświadczenie religijność wymaga innego postępowania badawczego lub przynajmniej uzupełnienia arsenału narzędzi o metody jakościowe.

In my contribution I want to investigate, from a theoretical point of view but also with methodological and practical consequences, the qualitative role of metaphor in social research. As tool able to improve and facilitate the visualization of complex ideas and states of mind, this rhetorical figure permits to obtain more information from interviewed people about topics hard to access in common interviews. This goal can be achieved by the build of the so called “tomen”, an artifact/experience design created by the subject(s) interviewed which represents a gate point from which explore hidden dimensions, individual as diffused. Furthermore, the metaphor offers a strong link to another concept that now in sociology needs an operative dimension, the game: a buzz word that I intend as social frame of experience positioned in an artificial setting, a “magic circle”, able to represent in its operations a collective metaphor which gives us enormous possibilities to configure and set the ground of analysis.

The origin of maritime research lies in a multi‐disciplinary approach. The philosophical grounding for academic research inherently shapes the methodological approach, data collection methods adopted, and analysis techniques deployed. Thus, there is a need for an insight into the philosophical underpinnings of maritime research for better understanding of research design in maritime context. The paper will examine social science and its grounding in philosophical concepts for qualitative research, and the relevance of philosophical approach to ‘values’ in social science, to maritime research by using qualitative methods. The aim is to apprise the novice maritime researchers ‐ in simplistic language, about the philosophical approach to values, as an alternative to complex descriptions of concepts available in philosophical articles and references.

Interviews are a widely used method in maritime research using qualitative methodologies. Expert interviews are conducted with people who have special knowledge because of their professional position. The status of the interviewer when using expert interviews brings forth certain distinct nuances due to the specific nature of the interview methodology and epistemological considerations. A renowned and senior maritime specialist or a veteran maritime professional researching the nuances of their own field encounter methodological challenges while interviewing other experts during data collection. The paper aims to examine the impact on qualitative data collected in interviews when the interviewers themselves are experts in the field of research. The concepts from the social science research from various disciplines have been examined and discussed highlighting the methodological challenges.

W tekście przedstawione jest narzędzie badawcze opracowane z myślą o badaniu ubierania się jako działania społecznego. Celem artykułu jest szczegółowy opis techniki (zwanej w artykule „moja szafa”), która stanowi połączenie wywiadu i obserwacji dotyczących zawartości szafy i sposobów użytkowania znajdujących się tam ubrań. Technika ta, poprzez specyficzny dobór materiałów zastanych (ubrania w szafie) oraz etapowy scenariusz badania, umożliwia inny niż tylko dzięki zastosowaniu samego wywiadu dostęp do rzeczywistości społecznej, która toczy się bez udziału badacza. W wyniku jej zastosowania wiedza spekulatywna badanych dotycząca znaczenia ubrania zostaje skonfrontowana z wiedzą pragmatyczną wynikającą z doświadczenia użytkowania ubrań.
In this article I present a research tool which was designed to study clothing as social action. The article describes a technique called “my wardrobe”, which consists of a “wardrobe elicited interview” and observation of existing materials (clothes in the wardrobe). A distinctive feature of this technique lies in the fact that a researcher can get access to social action (clothing) which can hardly be observed otherwise. What is important, the technique allows for the confrontation of speculative and pragmatic knowledge – this is knowledge which comes from lived experience of wearing clothes.

Tematem artykułu są ogólne założenia oraz sposoby realizacji etnografii opartej na współpracy (collaborative ethnography). Jednym z najważniejszych reprezentantów, teoretyków i praktyków tego podejścia jest Luke Eric Lassiter, zaś podobne idee na gruncie polskiej nauki sformułowała Anna Wyka w pracy Badacz społeczny wobec doświadczenia. Głównym postulatem omawianej propozycji metodologicznej jest włączenie uczestników badań w proces ich projektowania, wspólne dyskutowanie i analizowanie pojawiających się w trakcie pracy zagadnień, umożliwienie poszczególnym uczestnikom kształtowania lub komentowania ostatecznego raportu z badań, wspólne pisanie tekstów etnograficznych. Przyglądając się podstawowym pracom dotyczącym etnografii opartej na współpracy, a także odnosząc się do własnych praktyk badawczych, które są zainspirowane tym podejściem, chciałbym omówić jej warunki, zalety, możliwości, ograniczenia i pułapki.
In this article, I try to outline general assumptions of collaborative ethnography and ways of their realization. An important representative, theorist, and practitioner of this approach is Luke Eric Lassiter; it should be mentioned here that in Polish qualitative sociology similar ideas were formulated by Anna Wyka in her work Badacz społeczny wobec doświadczenia. The main demand of this methodological proposal is to include interlocutors and consultants in the whole ethnographic process – from the designing and conceptualization stage, through the fieldwork, to the joint writing or making comments about the final report. Examining essential works on this topic and describing own ethnographical practice inspired by discussed approach, I try to follow through the most important conditions, possibilities, advantages, chances, limitations, and traps of collaborative ethnography.

Biographical research in educational sciences, using its methodology and methods, analyzes the processes of learning, education, formation and socialization to be able to justify on this basis the relationships between man and formation, and pedagogical action and reflection on the subject. The article presents the directions of historical development, from enlightenment, through the empirical turn to everyday life, to the strengthening of biographical research in the twentieth century, as well as contemporary research fields in educational sciences along with methodological and methodical concepts.
Badania biograficzne w naukach o wychowaniu, stosując swoją metodologię i metody, analizują procesy uczenia się, wychowania, kształtowania i socjalizacji, by móc na ich podstawie uzasadnić relacje między człowiekiem i kształtowaniem oraz pedagogicznym działaniem i refleksją nad przedmiotem. W artykule przedstawiono kierunki historycznego rozwoju, począwszy od Oświecenia, przez empiryczny zwrot ku codzienności, po ugruntowanie badań biograficznych w XX. w., a także współczesne pola badawcze w naukach o wychowaniu wraz z metodologiczno-metodycznymi koncepcjami.

This article reviews the state of the art of qualitative research on femicide, which, until the publication of this Special Issue, has been extremely sparse. The paper mentions some of the limitations of the qualitative approach, such as time consumption, ethical liabilities, and non-generalizability. However, it advocates qualitative research because of its advantages in capturing the context, describing the experience, identifying the motives, highlighting the relationship between perpetrator and victim, identifying the risk factors, and suggesting apt policies. The article concludes by cautiously recommending a mixed-/merged-methods approach, which, in turn, depends upon the research question and has its own inherent disadvantages.

Celem artykułu jest analiza możliwości zastosowania różnych metod badawczych w badaniach służących zrozumieniu specyfiki i problemów małych przedsiębiorstw rodzinnych. Ukazano kluczowe problemy występujące w badaniach tej grupy podmiotów. Prowadzona analiza została oparta na refleksji na temat wartości stosowanych metod poznania małych organizacji rodzinnych, porównania metod ilościowych i jakościowych oraz odniesienia się do mniej znanych metod badań, takich jak: autoetnografia, analiza porównawcza i wielokrotne studia przypadków. W artykule wskazano na konieczność stosowania pluralizmu metodologicznego, wykorzystującego stosowanie różnych metod i technik badawczych, pozwalających na opisanie złożoności małej firmy rodzinnej.
This article aims to analyze the possibilities of using different research methods in studies aimed at understanding the characteristics and problems of small family businesses. It shows the key problems in research of this group of subjects. The analysis conducted was based on the reflection on the methods used with regards to cognition of small family organizations, comparison of qualitative and quantitative methods and references to less-known research methods such as auto-ethnography, comparative analysis and multiple case studies. The article pointed out the need for methodological pluralism using various methods and research techniques, which allow for a description of the complexity of a small family business.

The research methodology of family businesses is increasingly becoming the subject of scientific discussion that shows how difficult and complex task it is. Research area is located on the border of several disciplines, which raises significant methodological problems. Qualitative methods are useful for studying the problems of small family businesses, in particular related to the sphere of issues of identity, culture, values and the relationship between the family and the company. Qualitative methods allow for more efficient acquisition of reliable data on ‘sensitive’ subjects in comparison with quantitative methods. It is equally important to provide information about the complex social processes that are better studied with open methods. The methodology of qualitative research is not without its limitations. First of all, by definition it poses problems of generalization, and thus also theorizing. Research results are burdened with considerable subjectivity which can be transformed into inter-subjectivity by using different methods and perspectives. In the qualitative studies of small family businesses methodological pluralism which allows the creation of mixed research programs can be postulated. Combining quantitative and qualitative methods in one research program may provide important, but not always commensurate results. One can also point to the need for methodological triangulation and therefore the use of different, complementary research methods and techniques that will allow to describe the studied small family company in its entire complexity. The example of duo-ethnography provides the possibility to achieve a high level of relational demands allowing for the creation of unique philosophy of the meeting, a deep entry into the unique history of the studied entity and ownership family and the adoption of prospects for the narrator and an expert person participating in the study.
Celem artykułu jest przeanalizowanie możliwości zastosowania duo-etnografi i w badaniach dążących do poznania charakterystyki i problemów firm rodzinnych. Autorzy opisują kluczowe problemy związane z badaniami nad tą grupą podmiotów. Analizę przeprowadzono w oparciu o refleksję nad metodami stosowanymi w poznawaniu małych organizacji rodzinnych, porównania metod jakościowych i ilościowych oraz odniesień do mniej znanych metod badawczych, takich jak auto-etnografia, analiza porównawcza i liczne studia przypadków. W artykule wskazano na konieczność stosowania pluralizmu metodologicznego i wykorzystania różnych dostępnych technik badawczych, dzięki czemu możliwe będzie opisanie całej złożoności małej firmy rodzinnej.

Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie specyfiki podejścia interpretatywnego w psychologicznych badaniach jakościowych. Precyzując – chodzi o spójne z modelem teoretycznym prowadzenia badań, analizę oraz interpretację materiałów narracyjnych. Zaproponowana procedura postępowania badawczego jest wynikiem wieloletnich doświadczeń autorek w stosowaniu metody narracyjnej w interpretatywnym modelu w psychologicznych badaniach jakościowych, opartych na koncepcji M. Straś-Romanowskiej (1992). Postępowanie badawcze zostało przedstawione na przykładzie badania sposobu doświadczania rozwodu.
The purpose of the article is to present a specific nature of an interpretative approach in psychological qualitative research. To be more precise, it is aimed at conducting research, analysis and interpretation of narrative materials in a way that is coherent with a theoretical model. The proposed research procedure is a result of the authors’ long term experiences in using a narrative method in an interpretative model of psychological qualitative research based on M. Straś-Romanowska’s concept (1992). The research procedure is presented on an example of examining ways of experiencing a divorce by women with various length of post-divorce life and different autobiographical experiences.
