Zasadniczym elementem sakramentu pokuty jest odnawiana odpowiedzialność za siebie i innych. Sakrament ten jest najbardziej osobistym z sakramentów - grzesznik staje przed Bogiem z żalem, a jednocześnie pragnieniem własnego uświęcenia. Aby osiągnąć ten cel penitent musi przygotować się prawidłowo. Bez wątpienia każdy warunek sakramentu pokuty odgrywa istotną rolę, ale priorytetem powinien być żal. W tym artykule autor podkreśla rolę sumienia i moment spowiedzi. Szczególną uwagę zwraca na rolę spowiednika w formacyjnej wartości sakramentu pokuty.
The essential element of the sacrament of penance is renewed responsibility for ourselves and others. This sacrament is the most personal of sacraments because the sinner comes before God with regret and at the same time with thrust, and also with a program of his own sanctification. In order to achieve this goal the penitent has to prepare himself properly. Without doubt in this preparation each condition of the sacrament of penance plays an essential role but priority should be given to regret. In this article the author underscores the role of the examination of conscience and the moment of confession. Special attention is drawn to the role of the confessor in the formative value of the sacrament of penance. The source of the formative value of the sacrament of penance consists in the fact that it always puts a person's entire life history in God's light. It is therefore very important that both the confessor and the sinner make the effort to open up to the grace of God. - Źródło:
