    The purpose of the article is to present the fraudulent behaviour observable in the financial industry, which is the financial pyramid phenomena, through a detailed description of such occurrences together with the damage and consequences generated. This paper will include a solid piece of knowledge about this behaviour, and will also distinguish the similarities and differences between financial pyramids. Methodology of this paper is the critical analysis of the literature and comparative analysis of selected pyramids according to the criteria to compare and distinguish similarities and differences. Results of the research confirm that the phenomenon of the financial pyramids is very harmful to the financial industry but also to the participants and society as a whole. The losses generate every year are enormous, but on the other hand, there is suffering of the victims as well. To conclude, the financial pyramids are inseparable elements of the financial industry and moreover, they are very dangerous and destructive. The knowledge of the specificity of pyramids increases the safety of financial consumers in the financial market.

Specyficzna i ambiwalentna jest rola Wikipedii, będącej pierwszym, a nierzadko jedynym źródłem informacji. Informacyjna i edukacyjna funkcja internetu ustępuje jednak miejsca kulturze popularnej i rozrywce. Starożytny Egipt pojawia się powszechnie w formie toposów i stereotypów odwołujących się do tradycji antycznej, a także nowożytnej egiptomanii. Tajemniczość, egzotyczność, potęga, bogactwo i piękno egipskich wytworów kultury materialnej i duchowej mają swoje odniesienia w postaci takich motywów, jak piramidy, hieroglify, mumie, bogowie z głowami zwierząt, złote artefakty, piękne egipskie królowe. Szczególną formą, o ogromnym wpływie i zasięgu, są memy wykorzystujące egipską ikonografię i realia, co często służy do komentowania współczesności.
    The article presents various aspects of functioning in the internet of the ancient Egypt, which a popular view sees as the beginning of our civilisation, while the worldwide web is its crowning. Professional webpages, offering excellent research tools, are complemented by educational materials or thematic blogs run by ambitious amateurs. Specific and ambivalent is the role of Wikipedia, which is usually the first, and often unique, source of information. Informative and educational functions of the internet, are however overshadowed by popular culture and entertainment. Ancient Egypt appears widely in form of topoi and stereotypes, based on antique tradition or modern Egyptomania. Mysterious, exotic, powerful, rich and beautiful monuments and ideas of Egyptian material and spiritual culture are present as references to pyramids, hieroglyphs, mummies, animal-headed god, golden artefacts and beautiful Egyptian queens. A very specific feature, of a wide range and strength of influence, are memes, using Egyptian iconography and reality, which often serves for commenting the present day.

    łównym celem dzisiejszej produkcji roślinnej jest uzyskanie jak najwyższego plonu przy jednoczesnej minimalizacji stosowania środków ochrony roślin. Uprawa odmian o korzystnych cechach gospodarczych, w tym również o wysokim potencjale ich plonowania, ściśle związana jest z ich odpornością. Hodowla odpornościowa zbóż dysponuje wieloma narzędziami genetyki klasycznej i molekularnej, które z powodzeniem mogą być wykorzystywane w celu uzyskania roślin odpornych na powszechnie występujące choroby zbóż. Celem pracy było przedstawienie piramid genowych, uzyskanych w ramach różnych projektów badawczych realizowanych przez Pracownię Genetyki Stosowanej (Zakład Genetyki i Hodowli Roślin, IHAR — PIB w Radzikowie), a od 1. lutego 2016 roku realizowanych w Pracowni Gromadzenia i Oceny Roślin (Krajowe Centrum Roślinnych Zasobów Genowych, IHAR — PIB w Radzikowie). Profil prowadzonych prac obejmuje między innymi poprawę odporności pszenicy ozimej na mączniaka prawdziwego i rdzę brunatną.
    The main purpose of crop production is to achieve the highest possible yield while minimizing use of pesticides. Growing varieties with beneficial traits, also with a high potential of yield is closely connected with their resistance. At present, many tools of classical and molecular genetics, which can be successfully used to improve plant disease resistance, are available. The aim of this study was to present the gene pyramids, obtained through various research projects conducted by the Laboratory of Applied Genetics (Department of Plant Breeding and Genetics, Plant Breeding and Acclimatization Institute — National Research Institute, Radzików). Since 1st of February 2016 this research will be continued in the Laboratory of Plant Collection and Evaluation (National Centre for Plant Genetic Resources, Plant Breeding and Acclimatization Institute — National Research Institute, Radzików). Profile of the work involves improving winter wheat resistance to powdery mildew and leaf rust.

    Termin „Guanczowie” posiada dwa znaczenia. W szerszym używany jest na określenie wszystkich ludów autochtonicznych Wysp Kanaryjskich. W węższym Guanczowie to tubylcy zamieszkujący w przeszłości Teneryfę. W artykule zaprezentowano informacje dotyczące autochtonicznego ludu Teneryfy. W 1496 roku ostatnia z Wysp Kanaryjskich, Teneryfa, została podbita przez Hiszpanów. Guanczowie zostali wymordowani lub sprzedani do niewoli. Ślady ich historii, kultury i wierzeń są tam do dzisiaj obecne. Pochodzenie piramid z Güímar nadal stanowi temat niewyjaśniony przez naukowców. Interesujące wydają się też badania prowadzone nad Kanaryjskim Kamieniem z Rosetty – Piedra Zanata. Ciekawie przedstawia się legenda dotycząca figurki Matki Bożej z Candelarii.
    The term: Guanches has two meanings: In the wider sense, it refers to all aboriginal inhabitants of the Canary Islands; in the narrower sense, it refers only to the inhabitants of the Tenerife. This article treats of the autochthons of the Tenerife, the last Canary Island conquered by the Spaniards in 1496. Guanches were killed en masse, and the survivors sold into slavery. Some traces of their history, culture and beliefs are still discernible today, though shrouded in mystery, like the origins of the Pyramids of Güímar, or Piedra Zanata, considered the Rosetta Stone of the Canary, or the fascinating legend of the figure of Our Lady of Candelaria. The author of this article describes the social life of the Guanches, their religious beliefs and material culture.
