The purpose of this essay is to examine whether the theory of the pure relationship advanced by Anthony Giddens can be used to explain love relationships in Italy. The essay is structured as follows: we start with a presentation of the pure relationship (§ 1) and why I hold that to remain as faithful as possible to the essential presuppositions of this model we need to study the phenomenon of the free union between two people (§ 2). In the third section I present statistics from the 2003 ISTAT study Multifunctional analysis of the family and move on in the fourth section to draw conclusions taking this data into account.

Pure aluminium (6N) and commercially pure aluminium (99.7) was deformed by KOBO method. Microstructure and texture of both materials after deformation was analyzed by means of scanning and transmission electron microscopy. Advanced methods of crystallographic orientations measurements like Electron Backscatter Diffraction - EBSD (SEM) and microdiffraction (TEM) was used. Grain size distribution and misorientation between grains in cross and longitudinal sections of the samples were analyzed. Differences in size and homogeneity of the grains were observed in both materials. Pure aluminium was characterized by larger grain size in both sections of extruded material. Whereas commercially pure aluminium reveals smaller grain size and more homogeneous and stable microstructure.

Objective: We reviewed functional outcomes of tympanoplasty. Study design: The results of tympanoplastic surgery are changing in time. We present late treatment outcomes among different types of tympanoplasty. Methods: Eighty-six patients who underwent tympanoplasty were enrolled in the study. The results of pure tone audiometry performed 7 days before, then at 3 months, 1 year, and 3 years after the surgery were assessed. Type II tympanoplasty involved implantation of a partial ossicular replacement prosthesis and type III tympanoplasty involved reconstruction with a total ossicular replacement prosthesis and the use of autogenous homogenous material. Statistical analysis was performed. Results: With all four types of tympanoplasty, hearing improvement was achieved at 3 months and 1 year after surgery based on the magnitude of the mean ABG reduction (p<0.001). In patients who underwent type I, type III, and type IV tympanoplasty, the ABG reduction at 3 years after surgery was maintained at the level reported at 3 months and 1 year after surgery (p<0.001). In patients who underwent type II tympanoplasty, however, the mean ABG value was increased at all tested frequencies (p<0.05). The mean ABG values reported 3 years after type II and type III tympanoplasty were similar. Conclusions: Based on the results over time, hearing improvement seems to be less durable after reconstruction with the partial ossicular replacement prosthesis procedure compared to the total ossicular replacement prosthesis procedure.

The paper concerns Immanuel Kant’s view on ontological argument for the existence of God by Anselm of Canterbury. Arguing from his critical philosophy, Kant remains sceptical about the possibility of proving the very existence of God, which he takes as only the idea (ideal) of pure reason. Seen along such lines the concept of God cannot be verified in the matter of experience. Kant’s critique was based on refutation of speculative character of theological speculation related to the tradition of natural (rational) theology. From this point of view he takes it as impossible to derive a priori the real existence of subject merely on the basis of taking it as the greatest thing that can be conceived, that is the best thing that might exist. The idea of the highest being has in Kant merely intellectual status, that is, it has it source in (pure) reason only and in this sense its real existence cannot be subject of analysis (scrutiny). Interestingly, what Kant has in mind in his critique of ontological argument (besides other arguments) is Descartes’ argument which is to an important degree different from the one by Anselm. In this paper similarities and differences between Kant’s refutation and Anselm’s support of the ontological argument are discussed.

Introduction. The most common malignancy of the biliary tract is gall bladder carcinoma and the main subtype according to the histological classification is Adenocarcinoma. Pure squamous cell carcinoma of the gall bladder is very rare entity accounting for only 1.1-3.7% of the gall bladder carcinomas.It is highly malignant with poor prognosis due to high proliferative rate and local invasiveness to the adjacent organs. The patients are usually diagnosed at an advanced stage with a bulky tumor owing to its aggressive behavior. Aim. In this paper, we describe a female patient with primary pure squamous cell carcinoma of the gall bladder. Description of the case. A 42-year old female patient presented with chief complaints of pain in abdomen associated with nausea and vomiting and gradually progressive jaundice since 02 months. Contrast Enhancing Computed Tomography (CECT) abdomen showed an enhancing mass lesion in gall bladder involving adjacent organs for which she underwent extended cholecystectomy with pancreaticoduodenectomy. Conclusion. Diagnosis as well as the management of this exceptionally rare type of tumour is undoubtedly challenging because of non-specific clinical as well as imaging findings. This case report is an attempt to add to the literary evidence for better pathological as well as clinical understanding of this rare and aggressive entity thereby providing additional material for the early diagnosis as well as the development of effective targeted therapies which will certainly help in increasing the lifespan of these patients.

In the presented paper we discuss pure versions of pushdown automata that have no extra non-input symbols. More specifically, we study pure multi-pushdown automata, which have several pushdown lists. We restrict these automata by the total orders defined over their pushdowns or alphabets and determine the accepting power of the automata restricted in this way. Moreover, we explain the significance of the achieved results and relate them to some other results in the automata theory.

Opis:
High carbon ferromanganese is used as a starting material to prepare pure ferromanganese by electrorefining in molten salts. High carbon ferromanganese was applied as the anode, molybdenum was the cathode and Ag/AgCl was the reference electrode. The anodic dissolution was investigated by linear polarization in molten NaCl-KCl system. Then potentiostatic electrolysis was carried out to produce pure ferromanganese from high carbon ferromanganese. The cathodic product was determined to be a mixture of manganese and iron by x-ray diffraction (XRD). The content of carbon in the product was analyzed by carbon and sulfur analyzer. The post-electrolysis anode was characterized by scanning electron microscope (SEM). The mechanism of the anode dissolution and the distribution of the main impurity of carbon and silicon after electrolysis were discussed.

W artykule przedstawiono metodę obliczania wartości wypadkowej siły tnącej na głowicy struga węglowego, niezbędnej do urabiania węgla. Podstawą wyznaczania tej siły są wyniki pomiarów parametrów mechanicznych węgla, wykonywanych specjalnie do tego celu zaprojektowanym przyrządem. Metoda składa się z dwóch etapów: obliczeń teoretycznych oraz określania współczynników dopasowania przybliżających wyniki tych obliczeń do wyników eksploatacji.
In the article a method of calculating the resultant cutting powers on the head plane coal was presented, essential to extract coal. Results of measurements of mechanical parameters of coal made on the device especially at this target designed are a ground for appointing this power. This method consists of two stages: of theoretical calculations and determining rates of fitting theoretical calculations giving an approximation of the score to conditions of real exploitations.

Opis:
Similarities and differences between basic and application-oriented research in geophysics are discussed. Particular attention is drawn to the fact that some results of basic research may turn out to be useful from practical point of view. This is illustrated by the example of the lithosphere investigations in Poland. Poland is a site of two huge sedimentary basins, the Polish Basin and the Carpathians. Surveys of the lower parts of these basins, as performed with two methods, explosive seismology and electromagnetic sounding, revealed the presence of porous rocks, which may suggest their reservoir-like nature.

This article aims to bring together some theory – research on climate  ethics, particularly the Pure Intergenerational Problem (PIP) introduced by Stephen Gardiner – and some practice – the new educational agenda proposed by the United Nations in 2002 and framed as the Decade of Education for Sustainable Development (DESD). PIP can be resolved (or rather, avoided) if a shift in values happens that would change the very context of the problem. On the other hand, DESD is aimed at promoting the values “inherent in sustainable development” and at enabling societal transformation and behavioral change. The main focus within the value shift in this article is on a particular set of values (principles, concerns) that relate present people to future generations in terms of moral responsibility. It is argued that the promotion of ethical considerations that are concerned with the distant future, and the future of humankind in general, can be a solution to the Pure Intergenerational Problem. The article also explores whether parts of this solution can already be found within the educational agenda of DESD.

Spring triticale ‘Migo’, and spring barley ‘Maresi’ grown in pure stand and in their mixtures were used in field experiment. Disease occurrence, number of culms and heads as well as yield were assessed. Powdery mildew and scald of barley and Septoria leaf blotch of triticale occurred in lower degree in mixtures than in pure stands, but only in the years with weather conditions favourable for the diseases development. Fusarium stem rot and eyespot of both plant species as well as net blotch of barley occurred in similar degree in all treatments or even in some mixtures in higher degree than in pure stands.
W doświadczeniu polowym użyto pszenżyto jare ‘Miga’ i jęczmień jary ‘Maresi’ w siewie czystym i w mieszankach. W doświadczeniu tym oceniano występowanie chorób, liczby źdźbeł i kłosów oraz plon ziarna. W latach z warunkami pogodowymi sprzyjającymi rozwojowi mączniaka i rynchosporiozy jęczmienia, a także septoriozy pszenżyta choroby te występowały w mniejszym stopniu w mieszankach niż w siewie czystym. Fuzaryjna zgorzel podstawy źdźbła i łamliwość źdźbła na obydwu gatunkach oraz plamistość siatkowa na jęczmieniu występowały w podobnym stopniu we wszystkich kombinacjach lub nawet w niektórych mieszankach w większym stopniu niż w siewie czystym.

The article presents the statements of selected Church Fathers (4th-5th centuries) concerning the Beatitude “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God” (Mt 5:8), spoken by Jesus in the Sermon on the Mount. They emphasise that during the earthly life man can only see the reflection of God if his heart is pure. Since man was created in the image and likeness of God, he carries this image in his heart, but this image was polluted by sin. Therefore, one should purify the heart by renouncing sins and developing virtues. The most important comments on this issue were expressed by St Gregory of Nyssa and St Augustine.

Modelling claims severity for obtaining insurance premium is one of the major concerns of the insurance industry. There is a considerable amount of literature on the actuarial application of the copula model to calculate the pure premium. In this paper, we model claims severity for computing the pure premium in the collision market by means of the count copula model. Moreover, we apply a regression model using a generalized beta distribution of the second kind (GB2) to compute the premium for an average claim and the conditional computation for all coverage levels. Like many other researchers, we assume that the number of accidents is independent from the size of claims. For real data application, we use a portfolio of a major automobile insurer in Iran in 2007-2008, with a subsample of 59,547 policies available in their portfolio. We then proceed to compare the estimated premiums with the real premiums. The results demonstrate that there is strong positive dependency between the real premium and the estimated one.
