    Opis:
    Purpose: The aim of this paper is to outline the theoretical approach of internal conditions of professional aspirations. It is to describe the essence of aspirations and its internal conditions. Design/methodology/approach: The aim of the article was to organize, systematize and describe the knowledge about the role and essence of professional aspirations and its internal determinants. Methods: analysis, synthesis, deduction and induction. Findings: In the course of the work were found results, which show the important role of aspirations in the area of human resources management. Social implications: Publication of the article may contribute to increasing social awareness of the essential role of professional aspirations in human resources management in the organization and in the armed forces. Originality/value: The article organizes and systematizes the knowledge about the professional aspirations and its internal determinants. It is addressed to managers, human resources workers as well as academic lecturers and soldiers.

    My paper is devoted to scientific passion and its connections with scientific effectiveness. Following some preliminary considerations concerning a context of my paper. I come to description of mechanisms determining a level of engagement into scientific activities. Next part of the paper is concerned with environmental determinants of engagements into scientific work. In contemporary attitude toward creativity (including scientific one) a notion of passion is used seldom, if at all. It's connected with motives and emotions in creative process, and its research isn't dominant in present-day psychology. So, one of the aim of my paper is to try to incorporate the notion of passion into the perspective of up-to-date approach to scientific creativity.

    Optimism, according to the concept of positive psychology, is related to the cognitive style of explaining and of beliefs towards oneself, the world and others. Both optimism and achievement motivation are factors related to the creative activity of the individual and creative traits such as literary talents. The article shows the relationships between particular dimensions of the achievement motivation in a group of people with literary talents. the aim of the paper: The study was based on a comparative analysis within the level of achievement motivation and optimism among literary gifted individuals and in the control group. research methods: For the purposes of the research Inventory of Achievement Motivation (LMI) by H. Schuler and M. Prochaski in the Polish adaptation of W. Klinkosz and A. E. Sękowski along with the Questionnaire for the Study of Optimism by R. Stach were selected. results: The studies have shown that there are statistically significant differences between literate talented individuals and control group in terms of overall achievement motivation, preference for difficult tasks, flow, enthusiasm for learning and caring for prestige. Conclusion: Our in-house research shows that the achievement motivation and its dimensions can be considered on the basis of creative talents, because creativity promotes predispositions to achieve desired goals and derive satisfaction from them. It was not stated that optimism was a factor differentiating both groups, which probably results from the concept of development that assumes that the level of optimism decreases with age.

    What motivates the voluntary suffering of training for a long-distance run – or any other difficult athletic skill? Long-term pleasure cannot adequately explain this seemingly masochistic activity. On the contrary, I argue that pleasure, or “reinforcement,” is not the only ultimate motivator of behavior. Each of the emotion systems defines its own intrinsic values, including an innate “play” system and an innate “exploratory drive” that is included in what neuropsychologist Jaak Panksepp calls the “SEEKING system” of the emotional brain. Panksepp’s description of the conscious dimension of SEEKING is remarkably similar to Otto Rank’s descriptions of his “love of life” dimension of motivation, which actually conflicts with the pleasure principle. The desire for pleasure is a desire to reduce consummatory drives, which means reducing the energy level of our bodily systems. Complete reduction would be death. If there were no competing motivation in the other direction, there would be nothing to keep us alive. The SEEKING system is what does that. It motivates a higher energy level. In the case of athletic training, we do not have to “force ourselves” to this higher energy level. The SEEKING system is an innate natural drive. If we were to deliberately try to just sit on a couch indefinitely, at some point we would fail.

    Motywacja do początku XIX wieku stanowiła nieodkryty obszar badań nauki. Idea wykorzystywania motywacji w psychologii, prawie czy w innych dziedzinach zrodziła się dopiero na przełomie XIX i XX wieku. Leon Petrażycki był jednym z pierwszych uczonych, który dokonał przełomowej klasyfikacji zjawisk psychicznych. Wyróżnił wśród nich emocje, czucia, uczucia oraz procesy woli. Badania, które zostały przeprowadzone w tamtych czasach, wskazywały na powiązanie pomiędzy emocjami a motywacją. Sporo późniejszych pracowników naukowych kontynuowało rozmaite założenia wynikające z teorii Petrażyckiego. W literaturze wyróżnia się dwa okresy twórczości uczonego: petersburski oraz warszawski, dlatego też zasadne jest dokonanie podziału kontynuatorów Petrażyckiego w oparciu o te etapy jego działalności naukowej. W artykule krótko przedstawione zostały sylwetki wybranych przez autorkę badaczy, którzy inspirowali się ideami Petrażyckiego, m.in.: Jerzego Landego, Henryka Piętki, Mikołaja Timaszewa, Gieorgija Gurwicza, Michaiła Rejsnera. Ponadto dokonana została analiza ich twórczości w kontekście emocji oraz teorii motywacji zapoczątkowanej przez petersburskiego uczonego. Ukazane zostały również poglądy współczesnych zwolenników petrażycjanizmu.
    Motivation until the beginning of the 19th century was an undiscovered area of scientific research. The idea of using motivation in psychology, almost or in other fields, was born only at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. Leon Petrażycki was one of the first scientists to make a groundbreaking classification of psychic phenomena. He distinguished among them emotions, feelings, sensations and processes of the will. Research that was carried out at that time showed a connection between emotions and motivation. Many of the later researchers continued various assumptions resulting from Petrażycki’s theory. In literature, two periods of the scholar’s work are distinguished: St. Petersburg and Warsaw. Therefore, it is justified to divide his followers on the basis of these stages of his scientific activity. The article presents short profiles of researchers selected by the author who were inspired by the ideas of Leon Petrażycki, including Jerzy Lande, Henryk Piętka, Mikołaj Timaszew, Georgij Gurwicz, and Mikhail Rejsner. In addition, an analysis of their work was made in the context of emotions and the theory of motivation initiated by the St. Petersburg scientist. It also presents the views of contemporary Petrażycki supporters.

    Pojęcie zawodowego wypalenia (ang. Burnout) od pewnego czasu na trwałe weszło do powszechnego słownictwa generalnie oznaczając psychiczne wyczerpanie. Zarówno źródłosłów tego wyrażenia, jego interpretacja oraz skutki tego syndromu ciągle są odkrywane i opisywane na nowo. Zestawienie najbardziej znanej koncepcji „wypalenia” Ch. Masłach z rezultatami innych badań wyznacza dzisiejszy naukowy kierunek ich rozwoju. Systematyzując definicje, faktory, modele takiego stanu odkrywamy, że jego praktyczne konsekwencje można nawet zmierzyć. Dlatego za pomocą odpowiednich strategii i technik możliwa jest też profilaktyka lub leczenie negatywnych skutków tego zjawiska.
    The concept of Burnout has for some time become a permanent element of common vocabulary that means psychical exhaustion. Both the source of this expression, its interpretation and effects of the syndrome are constantly being discovered and described anew. Ch. Maslach’s best known conception of “burnout” compared with the results of other studies determines the direction of their scientific development today. By systematizing definitions, factors, and models of this state we discover that its practical consequences may even be measured. Therefore by way of respective strategies and techniques to prevent or treat negative effects of this phenomenon.

    Jednym z głównych celów artykułu jest prezentacja na tle klasycznego modelu oczekiwania-wartości założeń modelu oczekiwania-wartości w zakresie wyboru dziedzin osiągnięć (expectancy-value model of achievement-related choices) opracowanego przez zespół J. S. Eccles (1983, 2007). Autorka opisuje narzędzie do pomiaru psychologiczno-społecznych składowych modelu opracowane przez zespół badawczy Eccles. Dokonuje przeglądu badań weryfikujących założenia modelu w odniesieniu do uczenia się gry na instrumencie muzycznym. Wskazuje na praktyczne implikacje modelu dla psychologii muzyki i edukacji muzycznej.
    One of the main aims of the paper is to present the Expectancy-Value Model of Achievement-Related Choices developed by Eccles’ research team (1983, 2007) against the classical expectancy-value model. The author describes an inventory developed by Eccles’ research team to measure psychological and social components of the model. She makes a review of recent papers, which verify the assumptions of the model in relation to learning to play a musical instrument. She indicates the practical implications of the model for psychology of music and music education.
