    This article presents the existence in human life of the proximate dimension, which constitutes a distinctive space. The author proves that a complete model of the dimensions in which individuals and collectives exist must include a fifth dimension. Symbolically named the open, primary or archetypal dimension, it complements the four dimensions already distinguished: public, social, private and intimate.

    Opis:
    Convective and radiation heat transfer take place between various objects placed in open air space and their surroundings. These phenomena bring about heat losses from pipelines, building walls, roofs and other objects. One of the main tasks in energy auditing is the reduction of excessive heat losses. In the case of a low sky temperature, the radiation heat exchange is very intensive and the temperature of the top part of the horizontal pipelines or walls is lower than the temperature of their bottom parts. Quite often this temperature is also lower than the temperature of the surrounding atmospheric air. In the case of overhead heat pipelines placed in open air space, it is the ground and sky that constitute the surroundings. The aforementioned elements of surroundings usually have different values of temperature. Thus, these circumstances bring about difficulties during infrared inspections because only one ambient temperature which represents radiation of all surrounding elements must be known during the thermovision measurements. This work is aimed at the development of a method for determination of an equivalent ambient temperature representing the thermal radiation of the surrounding elements of the object under consideration placed in open air space, which could be applied at a fairly uniform temperature of the sky during the thermovision measurements as well as for the calculation of radiative heat losses.

    Artykuł dotyczy problemu otwartych przestrzeni osiedli, zbudowanych w okresie ZSRR w latach 60.–80. XX w., w szczególności, ich funkcji, jako strefy dla pieszych. Podczas gdy przestrzenie te według początkowych założeń miały być najbardziej popularnymi miejscami dla socjalizacji i rekreacji mieszkańców, dziś są one przede wszystkim postrzegane, jako anonimowa, nieprzyjazna dla pieszych przestrzeń, pozbawiona wyraźnej identyczności. Z powodu przesadzonej skali, jak również funkcjonalnej i przestrzennej monotonii, obszary otwartej przestrzeni osiedli mieszkalnych z wielkiej płyty, spontanicznie transformowano zgodnie ze zmianami w latach 90. XX w. w kontekstach socjalnych, ekonomicznych, kulturalnych. W artykule przeanalizowano proces transformacji przestrzeni, aspekty dostępności, hierarchię przestrzeni i jej percepcji przez pieszych. Artykuł także zawiera badanie jakościowych cech otwartych przestrzeni osiedla Sychów we Lwowie (Ukraina) na materiale fotograficznym zaczerpniętym z portalu społecznościowego Instagram.
    The article deals with the problem of open spaces within large-panel housing estates built in 1960–1980’s in the former USSR, particularly their functioning as pedestrian areas. While open spaces were originally meant for socialization and recreation, nowadays they are largely perceived as anonymous pedestrian-unfriendly places with no identity. Due to exaggerated scale as well as functional and spatial homogeneity, open spaces within large-panel housing estates were spontaneously transformed in 1990’s to meet the requirements of new social, economic and cultural contexts. The article focuses on the process of their transformation while considering such aspects as accessibility, privacy and users’ ability to interact with a space and navigate within it. The article also includes a case study of qualitative features of open spaces within Sykhiv housing estate in Lviv, Ukraine, on the basis of material from Instagram social networking service.

    The Authors present examples of applications for a city bench – an outcome of a student contest as a form that engages in a dialogue with a given space of Bydgoszcz. Experimental tests allowed to determine models for functioning of small open forms, according to the idea of Oskar Hansen. By referring to this slightly utopian theory it was possible to verify empirically its assumptions taking into consideration the so much desired pro-social designing. Motto: ”.... through the design a creator does not create a finite object but provides it with possibilities of context and interpretation” [5].
    Autorzy przedstawili przykłady zastosowania ławki miejskiej – efektu studenckiego konkursu, jako formy wchodzącej w dialog z wybraną przestrzenią w Bydgoszczy. Doświadczenia badawcze pozwoliły określić modele funkcjonowania małych form otwartych według idei Oskara Hansena. Nawiązanie do tej nieco utopijnej teorii pozwoliło zweryfikować empirycznie jej założenia przy jednoczesnym uwzględnienie tak współcześnie pożądanego projektowania prospołecznego. Motto: ”.... twórca przez swój projekt, nie tworzy zamkniętej rzeczy, lecz buduje możliwość kontekstu i interpretacji” [5].
