The article took its origin from the last twenty years of working in the Centres of Continuing Education (CCE) as well as from the interviews with centres' directors. The present study is, therefore, an attempt to fulfill the research about CCE. The first part of the article deals with some general information about centres' legal issues and their structures. The second part relates to difficult times of a political transformation, it describes how the centres were able to prosper in that period and how an educational reform was introduced. The analysis is based on some publications about the centres which were available as well as on the quotations from the interviews with the directors. Thanks to their utterances, it is now possible to realize the real problems of CCE as well as to understand the difficulties of these unique schools. Moreover, they can suggest some possible future changes and the directions of CCE development.

Access to basic financial services is one of the factors that determine people’s participation in social and economic life. Citizens excluded from the banking sector are looking to alternative sources to satisfy their financial needs. Money is supplied by payday loan providers which offer usurious short term loans at prices many times higher than bank prices. The aim of the article is to deal with the following research question: Is the payday lending market winning the short-term loans competition with the banking sector and if yes, why is it so despite the incomparably higher total costs of payday loans? The following research hypothesis was verified in the study: the low level of financial awareness and the lack of supervision over payday loan companies in Poland contributes to usurious exploitation of the people excluded by banks, which results in a debt spiral for a considerable segment of the customers.

Objectives: Medical providers working with trauma survivors are exposed to the negative and positive effects of secondary trauma, both of which are affected by social support and job satisfaction. The aim of this study was to determine the mediating role of job satisfaction in the relationship between social support and the negative and positive effects of secondary exposure to trauma among medical personnel. The negative indicator of such exposure was secondary traumatic stress (STS), while the positive indicator was secondary posttraumatic growth (SPTG). Material and Methods: The analyses included 419 medical providers working with trauma victims (201 paramedics and 218 nurses). Data was collected with the Secondary Traumatic Stress Inventory, Secondary Posttraumatic Growth Inventory, Social Support Scale, Work Satisfaction Scale, and survey. Mediation analyses were applied to assess relationships between variables. Results: The mediation analyses indicated that job satisfaction mediates (mainly partly) the relationship between social support and STS and SPTG. This may indicate that both social support and job satisfaction act as significant predictors of the negative and positive effects of secondary exposure to trauma. Conclusions: As a friendly and mutually-supportive environment can increase job satisfaction, reducing the risk of secondary traumatic stress and promoting positive posttraumatic changes, it is important to increase social support and job satisfaction among medical providers exposed to secondary trauma.

The need to develop and adopt legal standards for safety management was identified at the Conference of General Directors of Civil Aviation dedicated to the global strategy of aviation safety (Montreal, March 20-22, 2006) and additionally supported by the recommendations of the Safety Conference (Montreal, March 29 - April 1, 2010). The year 2006 saw the introduction of issues related to the safety management system to the Convention’s annexes. The existing fundamental rules related to SMS were included in the annexes: 1 - Personnel licensing, 6 - Operation of Aircraft, 8 - Airworthiness of Aircraft, 11 - Air Traffic Services, 13 - Aircraft Accident and Incident Investigation, and 14 - Aerodromes. In addition, due to the dynamic development of aviation and, at the same time, the growing need to create the highest standards in the field of safety management systems, the Air Navigation Commission established the Safety Management Panel (SMP) to develop the content of Annex 19. After several years of reconciliation and consultation, this document was finally adopted by the ICAO Council in 2013. It has become the ipso facto document that provides the basis for creating an effective safety management system, as it is compatible and also adapted to the most effective practices indicated in the ICAO Doc 9859 Safety Management Manual. Annex 19 sets out the responsibility of States, the safety management system and the collection of information related to safety. The National Civil Aviation Safety Programme and the structure of this system were also dealt with. The whole idea is to support states in the process of hazard identification and risk management. The purpose of the article was: to highlight selected elements of the risk management process in a practical dimension, to present the principles for assessing the degree of risk by an air navigation service provider, and to identify ways of improving this process. Searching for an answer to the main research problem contributed to achieving this goal. The research problem was expressed in the form of a question: How does the air navigation service provider manage the risk under the air traffic safety management system in order to achieve compliance with regulatory requirements and to achieve the assumed parameters (indicators) in the area of safety? With regard to the main research problem, the following research hypotheses were formulated: 1. I believe that an air navigation service provider undertakes an assessment of the degree of possible danger in civil aviation to identify hazards in air traffic as part of a safety management system. 2. I suppose that the air navigation service provider manages the risk in a manner consistent with the provisions of law and by using procedures included in normative documents.

Subject and purpose of the work: The commercial success of an organisation is based on its unique characteristics which make it stand out from its competitors. It can be the result of as many factors as there are many types of organisations and the goals they pursue. However, there are some invariants among them, which include leadership and management style associated with it. The purpose of this article is to demonstrate the possible ways of implementing the idea of a turquoise management model in organisations with strong knowledge-based leadership. Materials and methods: The subject of the study were medical entities of the SMEs group. A faceto-face and telephone interview with a person holding a leadership role in the treatment unit was chosen as the research method. Results and conclusions: An attempt was made to verify the thesis of the possible synergies between turquoise ideas and strong leadership. The paper demonstrates a natural evolution of the leadership model which has resulted from the generation Y and Z entering the labor market, which is characterised by features converging with the turquoise idea of management

This article is an attempt to analyze the existing solutions in the field of the protection of personal data. Training and advisory materials on this subject prepared by numerous law firms (32) were analyzed, providing a valid explanation, understanding and implementation of the new obligations in the field of data protection. In addition the author conducted pilot interviews in accounting offices (17) concerning the protection of personal data to indicate the approach of service providers to the performance of the tasks in the field of personal data protection. The key findings of the study are: noticeable increase in the interest of the contracting parties in data protection issues, as well as presenting their positive aspects along with possible problems in their practical application. An important contribution of the author is also the presentation of the key points of agreements which the parties should pay attention to in order to avoid misunderstandings.

Aim/purpose – This article presents the results of research referring to Keller’s brand equity concept. The fundamental objective of the research was to examine the influence of brand awareness and brand image on brand equity. We were also interested which force of influence is greater. Design/methodology/approach – The research was based on secondary and primary sources of information. The primary research was carried out on a sample of 100 enterprises ordering logistics services. Data obtained in such a way was subject to statistical analysis using modelling of structural equations. Findings – Based on the analysis of paths in the model of structural equations, the existence of positive, but weak dependencies between brand awareness, brand image and brand equity was observed. While the results of bootstrap simulations conducted to estimate confidence intervals indicated that differences in the strength of this influence are not statistically significant. Research implications/limitations – The obtained results did not bring sufficient basis to accept or reject hypotheses assuming an essentially positive relationship between brand awareness and brand image and its equity. Simultaneously, the conducted research led to the rejection of the hypothesis in accordance to which the influence of brand awareness on brand equity is smaller than the influence of brand image on brand equity. Originality/value/contribution – Potential causes of differences between the results of our own research and the research presented by Davis, Golicic, & Marquardt (2008) were indicated.

Development of financial markets and the increasing mobility of consumers enforces the introduction of international regulations and creating a basis for the functioning of the single EU market for financial services. The article discusses the main reporting obligations of payment service providers, as well as regulations introduced by the Law of August 19, 2011 on payment services, referred to the EU Directive 2007/64 /EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of November 13, 2007, on payment services in the local market.
Rozwój rynków finansowych oraz coraz większa mobilność konsumentów wymusza wprowadzanie regulacji międzynarodowych i stwarzanie podstaw do funkcjonowania jednolitego rynku usług finansowych UE. W artykule zostały omówione główne obowiązki informacyjne dostawców usług płatniczych oraz regulacje wprowadzone ustawą z dnia 19 sierpnia 2011 r. o usługach płatniczych, w ślad za unijną dyrektywą 2007/64/WE Parlamentu Europejskiego i Rady z dnia 13 listopada 2007 r. w sprawie usług płatniczych w ramach rynku wewnętrznego.

Koncepcja społecznej odpowiedzialności zyskuje coraz większą popularność wśród polskich firm. W ciągu ostatnich kilku lat do grona firm deklarujących zainteresowanie CSR i gotowość do wypełnienia jej założeń dołączyli usługodawcy z sektora TSL. Podkreślają swoje zaangażowanie w działania CSR poprzez wywiady, reklamy lub strony internetowe. Koncepcja społecznej odpowiedzialności zakłada szereg działań w trzech obszarach: ekonomicznym, społecznym i środowiskowym. W artykule przedstawiono rozważania na temat społecznych praktyk realizowanych przez dostawców usług logistycznych, a także oceniono ich zaangażowanie w kontekście osiągania celów społecznych.
Nowadays, the idea of social responsibility gains significant popularity among Polish companies. During last few years logistics service providers also joined the group of businesses declaring their interest in CSR and willingness to fulfill its assumptions. They emphasize their engagement in CSR activities through interviews, commercials or websites. However the social responsibility concept implies range of activities in three areas: economics, social and environmental, both in specialist literature and practitioners' declarations the last mentioned area seems to be dominative. In spite of this rather common tendency authors of this paper make effort to highlight social aspects of CSR. In particular, the main aim of this paper is to present results of researches made by authors covering socially oriented practices realized by logistics service providers as well as assessment of those providers' engagement in the achievement of CSR social goals. To attain this aim the results of quantitative analysis are presented and social practices of chosen logistics service providers are stated.

Background: Logistics service providers store very different products which can interact with each other, e.g. in a chemical or physical way. In addition, some manufacturers require logistic companies not to store their products together with competing products. We are therefore faced with exclusionary constraints, thus with the circumstances or conditions under which at least two commodities cannot be stocked in the same warehousing place. In literature, there are no studies on exclusionary constraints in storage, especially findings of empirical research. That is why the main purpose of this paper is to identify and asses the frequency and importance of exclusionary constraints in storage by logistics service providers. Methods: We have scrutinized a random sample of 300 logistics services providers in Poland in order to capture the managers' assessment of exclusionary constraints, especially their frequency and importance for the activity of the firms. Results: Our research showed that the approach to the exclusionary constraints in storage is various for the managers of the logistics enterprises. We discovered the correlation between the importance and frequency of exclusionary constraints in storage. The more important a specific exclusionary constraint is, the more often it occurs. The most important and frequent exclusionary constraint for the surveyed enterprises is sensitivity for storage temperature. This study contributes to the theories and practices of logistics enterprises. Conclusions: This study extends earlier research on exclusionary constraints in logistics, which but do not analyze the real life data. In the future work we will use the results of the quantitative research to develop mathematical models of the storage problems based on the determined exclusionary constraints.
Wstęp: Dostawcy usług logistycznych magazynuje bardzo różne produkty, które mogą współdziałać ze sobą, np. poprzez reakcje chemiczne lub fizyczne. Ponadto niektórzy producenci wymagają, aby firmy logistyczne nie składowały ich produktów razem z produktami konkurencyjnymi. Mamy zatem do czynienia z ograniczeniami wykluczającymi, a więc z okolicznościami lub warunkami, w których co najmniej dwa towary nie mogą być składowane w tym samym miejscu. W literaturze nie ma badań dotyczących ograniczeń wykluczających w magazynowaniu, zwłaszcza wyników badań empirycznych. Z tego powodu głównym celem artykułu jest identyfikacja i ocena częstotliwości oraz znaczenia ograniczeń o charakterze wykluczającym w zakresie magazynowania przez dostawców usług logistycznych. Metody: Zbadana została próba 300 losowo wybranych dostawców usług logistycznych w Polsce w celu otrzymania dokonanej przez menedżerów oceny ograniczeń wykluczających, w szczególności ich częstotliwości i znaczenia dla działalności firm. Wyniki: Badania wykazały, że podejście do ograniczeń wykluczających w magazynowaniu jest zróżnicowane w zależności od menedżerów przedsiębiorstw logistycznych. Istnieje jednak korelacja pomiędzy znaczeniem i częstotliwością ograniczeń wykluczających w składowaniu. Im ważniejsze jest konkretne ograniczenie wykluczające, tym częściej ono występuje. Najważniejszym i najczęstszym ograniczeniem wykluczającym dla badanych przedsiębiorstw jest wrażliwość na temperaturę składowania. Wnioski: Badanie to poszerza wcześniejsze eksploracje nad ograniczeniami wykluczającymi w logistyce, w których nie analizowano jeszcze danych rzeczywistych. W przyszłości wykorzystamy wyniki badań ilościowych do opracowania matematycznych modeli problemów składowania w oparciu o zidentyfikowane ograniczenia wykluczające.

The main aim of the paper is to reveal the outcomes of a research based on the efficiency of primary health care providers. The scientific goal of the mentioned research was the development of an efficiency measurement model and verification of its usefulness in practice. Overall, the research found that it is possible to use the efficiency measurement model for health care providers. Besides, significant differences were discovered in the efficiency of public and nonpublic primary health care providers. The research was conducted in the West Pomeranian Voivodship in Poland. This paper contributes to the widespread debate on public and nonpublic ownership in the field of healthcare. Also, it has practical implications as the research findings may be useful for any healthcare sector stakeholder, from decision makers to patients. The research was based on the literature overview, which allowed to elaborate the efficiency measurement model. The empirical research (based on a form of questionnaires) allowed testing the proposed model. The described efforts allowed drawing conclusions on the efficiency of primary health care institutions in the West Pomeranian Voivodship. The following methods of data analysis are presented in the paper: synthetic measure of development (SMD), Ward’s method, and k-means method. According to the main conclusion of the research, it is possible to measure the efficiency of public and nonpublic health care providers of the Polish healthcare system. The proposed model for measuring the socioeconomic efficiency may be used as one of the tools used to measure the efficiency in the primary care. The verification of the usefulness of the model showed that nonpublic health care providers operating in the field of the public sector, outperformed public providers. The paper contributes to the theoretical field as it reveals a comprehensive approach to the efficiency measurement in the health care sector. The efficiency measurement model is based on the three major pillars of the healthcare sector, namely, income/resources, cost, and the social aspect. The elaborated efficiency measurement model for the healthcare sector was implemented and tested on a group of primary health care providers in the West Pomeranian Voivodship. The research allowed for positive conclusions regarding its usefulness in practice.

Wpływ adaptacyjności usługodawców logistycznych na performance obsługi oraz satysfakcję i lojalność klientów

Background: This article examines the adaptability of logistics services providers (LSPs), which has been relatively rarely tackled in the literature on supply chain management. We examined the impacts of LSPs' adaptability on logistics outsourcing performance, as well as on satisfaction and loyalty of their customers. Methods: We formulated specific research hypotheses and assessed them using structural equation. The data was obtained via IT survey of 110 companies using LSPs. Our analyses were conducted in the SPSS and R software packages. Results: Based on the estimated path coefficients from the structural equation model, we found evidence of a dependency between the adaptability of LSPs and their logistic services performance, as well as customer satisfaction and loyalty. Conclusions: Our results confirm the importance of adaptability for the development of logistics outsourcing relationships, primarily due to the strong direct impact of LSP adaptability on logistics services performance, as well as the impact of this factor on customer satisfaction and loyalty. Therefore, when struggling to improve relations with customers, LSPs should take adaptive actions that can enhance performance outcomes.
Wstęp: Niniejszy artykuł poświęcono stosunkowo rzadko podejmowanej w literaturze przedmiotu problematyce adaptacyjności usługodawców logistycznych. Celem zrealizowanych badań była ocena wpływu adaptacyjności usługodawców logistycznych na performance obsługi oraz satysfakcję i lojalność klientów. Metody: Sformułowano hipotezy badawcze, które zweryfikowano wykorzystując modelowanie równań strukturalnych. Badania przeprowadzono z zastosowaniem metody ankiety elektronicznej wśród 110 przedsiębiorstw zlecających obsługę logistyczną. Analizę oraz interpretację pozyskanych w ten sposób danych przeprowadzono z wykorzystaniem pakietu SPSS oraz programu R. Wyniki: Na podstawie oszacowanych współczynników ścieżek w modelu równań strukturalnych odnotowano zależności pomiędzy adaptacyjnością usługodawcy logistycznego a performance obsługi oraz satysfakcją i lojalnością klientów. Wnioski: Uzyskane w toku analizy statystycznej wyniki pozwoliły na pozytywną weryfikację postawionych hipotez badawczych. Potwierdzono, że działania adaptacyjne usługodawców mają bezpośredni pozytywny wpływ na performance obsługi, i co ważne – zależność ta jest bardzo istotna dla umacniania współpracy, ponieważ dzięki poprawie obsługi wyraźnie wzrasta satysfakcja klientów, kreując ich lojalność wobec usługodawcy.

Opis:
Ever new laws, changes in standards and new requirements for the basic conditions for comprehen- sive IT protection, coupled with ever new technical innovations and thus also new techniques and possibilities for attacks from the network, are causing problems for banks in complying with all these regulations. This article is intended to present how these problems and challenges present themselves, and a concrete procedural model must be presented to the banks during the planning stage of IT ma- nagement, which ultimately turns the current challenges into a management task. In order for banks to be able to offer a better state of their own knowledge of IT and IT security again and to put them in a stronger position than the specialists who previously had a certain knowledge advantage and were able to use this to the disadvantage of the banks.
