Opis:: В статье рассматривается понятие и содержание иноязычной коммуникативной компетентности студентов ВУЗов неязыковых специальностей. Целью обучения иностранному языку в высших учебных заведениях является овладение иностранным языком как средством коммуникации, так и приобретения профессионально направленной иноязычной компетентности для успешного выполнения дальнейшей профессиональной деятельности. Обучение иностранному языку будущих специалистов должно рассматриваться как цель дальнейшей профессиональной деятельности. Одной из важных задач обучения профессиональному иностранному языку является формирование специализированной компетенции в сферах профессионального и ситуативного общения, овладения новой профессиональной информацией через иностранные источники.
The article discusses the concept and content of foreign language communicative competence of students of non-language specialties universities. The purpose of foreign language teaching in higher education is to master a foreign language as a medium of communication and the acquisition of a professional orientation of foreign language competence for successful implementation of future professional activities. Learning a foreign language of future specialists should be considered through the prism of their future professional activities. An important task of learning a foreign language in professional direction is the formation of a specialized expertise in the areas of professional and situational communication, mastering the new professional information through foreign sources.
W artykule omówiono koncepcję i treści komunikacyjnej kompetencji języka obcego studentów specjalności nie-lingwistycznych. Celem nauczania języków obcych w szkolnictwie wyższym jest opanowanie języka obcego umożliwiającą komunikację na średnim poziomie i nabycie orientacji zawodowej znajomości języków obcych dla pomyślnej realizacji przyszłych działań zawodowych. Nauka języka obcego przyszłych specjalistów powinna być traktowana przez pryzmat przyszłej działalności zawodowej. Ważnym zadaniem nauki języka obcego w kierunku zawodowym jest utworzenie specjalistycznej wiedzy w dziedzinie komunikacji zawodowej i sytuacyjnej, opanowanie nowych informacji zawodowych ze źródeł zagranicznych.

Opis:: The article considers traditional methods of studying Ukrainian as a foreign language in higher medical educational institutions. Methods of teaching Ukrainian as a foreign language are presented in accordance with the level, knowledge, needs and interests of foreign students. It is noted that since the Ukrainian language was adopted as a national language, its function expanded in various spheres of public life. This led to the formation of a new branch of language education – the teaching of Ukrainian as a foreign language, which gradually began to establish itself as a language of higher education for foreigners. The pedagogy of teaching a foreign language, which is a fundamental science, is described, but to transfer such pedagogy to the teaching of a foreign language is illegal, because it differs from the purpose of teaching other subjects. When studying Ukrainian as a foreign language, it is not the accumulation of knowledge that is distinguished, but the mastery of foreign language activities. There are two stages in the study of a new vocabulary unit: a stage that involves the selection and presentation of new vocabulary material, and a stage that trains and acquires lexical speech skills in various types of speech activity. The importance of using three main types of visual material is emphasized: subject, pictorial and motor, which should effectively cover the realities of everyday life in relation to the presence of a foreign student in a new language environment. The role of listening in the perception of the Ukrainian language as a foreign language is analyzed. Because students will study with native speakers and will have to listen to numerous lectures on special topics. Direct communication with native speakers invited to classes is one of the ways to develop auditory perception and speech skills. An important skill that future doctors will need is the ability to work with a special medical text in the language of instruction.
У статті розглядаються традиційні методи вивчення української мови як іноземної у вищих медичних навчальних закладах. Методики викладання української мови як іноземної представлені відповідно до рівня, знань, потреб та інтересів іноземних студентів. Зазначено, оскільки українська мова була прийнята як державна, її функція розширювалася в різних сферах суспільного життя. Це призвело до формування нової галузі мовної освіти – викладання української мови як іноземної, яка поступово почала утверджуватися як мова вищої освіти для іноземців. Охарактеризовано педагогіку викладання іноземної мови, яка є фундаментальною наукою, але перенесення цієї педагогіки на навчання іноземної мови неправомірно, оскільки вона відрізняється від мети викладання інших предметів. При вивченні української мови як іноземної виділяється не накопичення знань, а оволодіння іншомовною діяльністю. Існує два етапи вивчення нової словникової одиниці: етап, який передбачає відбір і виклад нового словникового матеріалу, і етап, який тренує та набуває лексичних мовленнєвих навичок у різних видах мовленнєвої діяльності. Наголошується на важливості використання трьох основних типів наочного матеріалу: предметного, зображального і моторного, який повинен ефективно охоплювати реалії повсякденного життя стосовно присутності іноземного студента в новому мовному середовищі. Проаналізовано роль аудіювання у сприйнятті української мови як іноземної. Тому, що студенти навчатимуться з носіями мови та повинні будуть слухати численні лекції на спеціальні теми. Безпосереднє спілкування з носіями мови, запрошеними на заняття, є одним із способів розвитку слухового сприйняття та мовленнєвих навичок. Важливою навичкою, яка знадобиться майбутнім лікарям, є вміння прaцювати із спеціальним текстoм медичного спрямування на мові нaвчання.

Opis:: Celem artykułu jest zaprezentowanie rozwiązań dydaktycznych, które zostały zastosowane na zajęciach z języka specjalistycznego prowadzonych w trybie zdalnym. Przedmiotem rozważań jest zbadanie, na ile wyżej wspomniane rozwiązania pozwoliły studentom na lepsze przyswojenie treści omawianych na zajęciach. Badania przeprowadzone w latach 2019/2020 i 2020/2021 w Instytucie Romanistyki Uniwersytetu Warszawskiego wykazały, że kurs języka francuskiego dla dyplomatów przeprowadzony zdalnie został lepiej oceniony przez studentów niż ten sam kurs odbywający się stacjonarnie. Analiza danych potwierdziła założenie badawcze, że przejście od nauczania stacjonarnego do nauczania cyfrowego dało wykładowcom nowe narzędzia pracy i skłoniło ich do sięgnięcia po mniej powszechnie dotąd stosowane praktyki, które przyczyniły się do wzbogacenia procesu dydaktycznego. Rezygnacja z lekcji w trybie stacjonarnym zachęciła nauczycieli do poszukiwania i opracowywania oryginalnych rozwiązań, wykraczających poza dotychczasowe ograniczenia formalne. Wydaje się, że skuteczność niektórych metod zastosowanych podczas pandemii włączy je na stałe do repertuaru środków glottodydaktycznych i może stać się przyczynkiem do dyskusji nad rozwojem zdalnej edukacji językowej.
The aim of this article is to present teaching solutions that have been used in language classes conducted remotely. The article considers the extent to which the teaching solutions allowed students to better assimilate the content discussed in class. Research conducted in 2019/2020 and 2020/2021 at the Department of French Philology, University of Warsaw, revealed that a French for Diplomats course conducted remotely was better evaluated by students than the same course held onsite. The analysis of the data confirmed the research assumption that the shift from face-to-face to digital teaching gave lecturers new tools for their work and prompted them to reach for practices that were less commonly used before, which contributed to the enrichment of the teaching process. The abandonment of the classroom in the stationary mode has prompted teachers to seek and develop original solutions that go beyond the previous formal limitations. It seems that the effectiveness of some of the methods used during the pandemic will be adopted permanently and form part of the discussion on the development of remote language education.

Contemporary specialist language teaching is a combination of linguistic, professional and socio-cultural areas of knowledge, applied in practice. The aims and contents of teaching are directed towards learners’ requirements and the development of the professional communicative competence. This article analyses the efficiency of teaching and learning specialist languages. The effectiveness in this field allows for a better specification not only linguistic but also professional and socio-cultural teaching material and choice of adequate and varied teaching aids.

Today the knowledge of English for Specific Purposes (ESP) is very important in every profession. There are a lot of educational materials on various topics in various specialities. The article presents the author’s curriculum of a foreign language for professional purposes for the first year students on the “Fire Safety” and “Civil Defence” majors. A lot of attention is paid to specialized knowledge which students gain from other professionally directed subjects. The textbook “English for Rescuers” is also introduced. This textbook focuses on practical exercises both in mastering the professionally directed vocabulary and grammar, as well as the fluency in speaking.

Opis:: Postgraduate education in Ukraine is a specialized improvement of education and professional training of a person through deepening, expansion and renovation his professional knowledge, skills and abilities or getting another specialty based on previously acquired educational qualification and practical experience. Postgraduate education is carried out by higher educational establishment or by structural subdivisions of higher educational establishment with appropriate accreditation level in the form of training programs or internship. This article devoted to the formal expansion of skills within the resulting profile or retraining. Formation and polishing of the person’s individual style of business communication occurs throughout adult life. Language communicative competence is complex education system, which requires constant improvement. Speaking more than one language involves the formation of a foreign language communicative competence. This problem requires a review of government and universities policy on planning and forming of language communicative competence among students of advanced training courses.

Opis:: The article comprises a presentation of quantitative and qualitative studies, conducted among teachers working in kindergartens and schools with Polish as the teaching language in the territory of Zaolzie in the Czech Republic. Teachers’ experiences are analysed from the perspective of both the constructivist vision of a child, present in pedagogy, and Maria Tyszkowa’s concept of structuration and restructuration of experience (considered to be a part of the constructivist current). The undertaken reflections and the research results enable the recognition of the significance of childhood experiences for the professional development of beginners in teaching careers. Those reflections and outcomes can also enhance the development of teachers’ awareness and responsibility for providing children and youth with experiences that will be of crucial importance in their later life young.
Artykuł prezentuje wyniki badań ilościowych i jakościowych przeprowadzonych wśród nauczycieli pracujących w przedszkolach i szkołach z polskim językiem nauczania zlokalizowanych na terenie tzw. Zaolzia – w Republice Czeskiej. Doświadczenia nauczycieli poddaje analizie z perspektywy konstruktywistycznej wizji dziecka obecnej w pedagogice oraz koncepcji strukturacji i restrukturacji doświadczenia Marii Tyszkowej (zaliczanej do nurtu konstruktywistycznego). Podjęte rozważania i wyniki przeprowadzonych badań pozwalają poznać znaczenie doświadczeń z dzieciństwa dla rozwoju zawodowego początkujących nauczycieli. Mogą przyczynić się do rozwoju świadomości i odpowiedzialności nauczycieli za dostarczanie doświadczeń dzieciom i młodzieży. Doświadczenia te będą miały istotne znaczenie w późniejszym życiu dzieci i młodzieży.

Opis:: The article deals with issues regarded to implementation of bilingual education in Ukrainian universities. This process can be considered as part of Ukrainian integration into European and world scientific and educational space. Furthermore, this area is being developed according with the National Doctrine of Educational Development. Specific aspects of bilingual education development at the end of the 20th century are noted. Bilingual educational system leads to both getting the education as provided by the bilingual system itself and personality formation when an individual is open to the interaction with the whole world. Applied to obtaining a certain specialty at the university, the goal of bilingual education is a synthesis of communicative and subject competencies. It is reported that a foreign (in particular, English) language is not only the goal, but also a means of understanding the world of special knowledge. Bilingual education features are examined in detail. It is noted that at the moment a comprehensive concept of bilingual professional education in Ukraine has not been built. Currently, only certain aspects of the problem of bilingual education in higher education have been defined. А number of issues have been formulated which need to be theoretically comprehended in order to implement succesfully the bilingual educational system at the universities. Attention is paid to the complex of didactically and methodically relevant factors which depend on the students’ future profession and qualifications. Appropriate criteria have been identified, which influence on many levels on the content, organization and choice of methods of bilingual education in a certain field of study. It is underlined that the factors (criteria) are both the linguistic ones and non-linguistic ones. Finding and taking into account all these factors is mandatory to create the scientifically based concept of the bilingual educational system at the non-language departments.

Opis:: Artykuł dotyczy relacji między argumentacyjnym i narracyjnym charakterem teksów prawniczych oraz pytania, czy te ostatnie mogą być pojmowane jako teksty narracyjne. Tekst narracyjny rozumiany jest jako przekazujący odbiorcy opowieść za pomocą określonego medium. Opowieść jest zatem treścią tekstu narracyjnego i stanowi konkretny sposób zamanifestowania fabuły. Fabuła jest więc swego rodzaju wewnętrzną logiką opowieści. Tę samą fabułę można opowiedzieć na wiele sposobów. Tekst narracyjny nie przedstawia wydarzeń bezpośrednio, lecz poprzez opowieść, która wymaga opowiadającego ją podmiotu – narratora. Oczywiście może być on w tekście mniej lub bardziej ujawniony i występują różne jego rodzaje. W konsekwencji można wyodrębnić c co najmniej pięć stanowisk dotyczących relacji argumentacji i narracji w prawie: 1) Sceptyczne – narracja jest zaprzeczeniem rozumności prawa, 2) Narracja jest strukturą prezentacji faktów, 3) Narracja jest środkiem perswazji retorycznej, 4) Narracja jest strukturą meta-argumentacyjną, 5) Narracja jako przedmiot analizy krytycznej – ujawnia tożsamość autora. Teoria narracji zostanie zastosowana do szczegółowego zagadnienia uczestniczenia samorządów zawodowych w tworzeniu prawa.
The paper concerns the relation between argumentative and narrative features of legal texts and the question whether legal texts can be perceived as narrative texts. A narrative text is understood as transferring a story to the recipient through a given medium. The story, being the content of a narrative text, constitutes a specific way of manifesting the plot. The latter is a sort of internal logic of the story. The very same plot might be told in many different ways. Hence, the narrative text does not depict events directly, but through a story that requires a storytelling agent – the narrator. Certainly, there are different kinds of narrators, who can be more or less exposed within the text. In consequence, there are at least five positions concerning the relation between argumentation and narration in law: 1) sceptic – narration is a negation of the reasonableness of law; 2) narration is a structure of presentation of facts; 3) narration is a means of rhetoric persuasion; 4) narration is a meta-argumentative structure; 5) narration is a subject of critical analysis as it reveals the identity of an author. The theory of narration is applied to a particular problem of participation of professional self-governments in law-making.

Opis:: In 1859, the first book edition of the Dykcjonarz zawierający: wyrazy i wyrażenia z obcych języków polskiemu przyswojone [Dictionary of words and expressions borrowed from foreign languages] compiled by Michał Amszejewicz was published in Warsaw. It was the first large (more than 15,000 entries) dictionary of foreign words in the history of Polish lexicography. Its metalexicographical shape (the arrangement of entries, the order of meanings within an entry, the system of explanation, the system of qualification, etymological clues, examples of usage) has become a model eagerly used by successive dictionaries and lexicographers until our modern times. The authors of the Słownik wileński [Vilna Dictionary], published in 1861, were the first to copy the work of Michał Amszejewicz (without disclosing the source). In the dictionary we find mainly professional vocabulary, including a rich collection of names of financial instruments, circulating and historical, presented precisely and in detail in terms of their meaning and market value.
W 1859 roku w Warszawie ukazało się pierwsze wydanie książkowe opracowanego przez Michała Amszejewicza Dykcjonarza zawierającego: wyrazy i wyrażenia z obcych języków polskiemu przyswojone, który był pierwszym w historii polskiej leksykografii dużym (liczącym ponad 15 000 haseł) słownikiem wyrazów obcych. Jego kształt metaleksykograficzny (układ haseł, porządek znaczeń w ramach hasła, system objaśniania, system kwalifikowania, wskazówki etymologiczne, przykłady użycia) stał się wzorem chętnie wykorzystywanym przez kolejnych słownikarzy i leksykografów, aż do czasów nam współczesnych. Jako pierwsi skopiowali dzieło Michała Amszejewicza (bezujawniania tego źródła) autorzy Słownika wileńskiego, wydanego w 1861 roku. W zasobie słownika odnajdujemy głównie słownictwo terminologiczne, w tym bogaty zbiór nazw walorów finansowych, obiegowych i historycznych, zaprezentowanych precyzyjnie i szczegółowo pod kątem ich znaczenia i wartości rynkowej.

Opis:: Thesis. The authors of the study consider important issues of the professional competencies formation during the process of teaching a foreign language to law students as a process of their professional identity formation. The authors had to identify by interviewing students what types of exercises help them to master their chosen speciality in a foreign language. Methods. The authors rely on comparative, competitive methods, as the interdisciplinary approach principles. Comparing the programmes of teaching a foreign language of speciality and international law, the authors build a system of a single learning process as one of forming a professional identity. Results. Authors of the study tried to build the process methodology of teaching the language of the speciality as a formative one of students’ professional identity. The authors cited as an example the system of methods and exercises used in the language lessons of the speciality, with the aim of formation of not only linguistic but also legal professional competencies. Conclusion. The process of forming a professional identity in the process of studying at a university is one of the most important in the development of the professional personality of a future specialist. Teaching a foreign language in humanitarian universities is an important process which should be revised in accordance with the main discipline teaching programmes. It’s important to create such methodological complexes that would allow the speciality language lessons to bring the learning process as close as possible to a professional one.

Opis:: Aim. One of the most important tasks which precedes the setting of goals for teaching a foreign language of a specialty and the selection of methods for achieving them is to identify the competencies that a qualified specialist must master. Therefore, the authors of this article see the need to set the following research tasks: the identification of professional competencies in the professional discourse of international affairs; the allocation of competencies among those that require the knowledge of a foreign language; and determination of the language material necessary for studying the specialty in the language lessons for international affairs. Methods. The empirical methods of our research comprise studying and analysis of the works of Russian and foreign scientists and teachers working in the related fields; and interviewing specialists in the international sphere who have graduated from the faculties and institutes of international relations, international law, world politics and economics in the form of an anonymous questionnaire. Theoretical methods include analysis, synthesis, comparison, generalisation, deduction, and induction. Results. A study based on the analysis of a survey completed by international specialists showed that a large number of professionals in the field of international relations, international law, politics, and economics use legal terminology in their work more often than others. Among the professional skills that are required in their work, the respondents named negotiation, business dialogue, and correspondence. Conclusion. A recent study has shown that disciplines such as international law must be included in the language training program for international specialists as diplomates and lawyers.

Opis:: The modern working world is characterized by increasingly complex external and internal pluri- and multilingualism, which poses growing challenges for professional communication. In order to be able to systematically capture this increasing complexity, a separate model is required. In this model, on the one hand, the individual languages and their linguistic varieties of external and internal multilingualism and, on the other hand, the first-, second- and foreign-language competencies of individual persons are entered in a matrix. In this way, multilingual settings of professions or workplaces as well as multilingual profiles of individual persons can be described in a differentiate manner and corresponding political and didactic measures can be taken.
