    The paper investigates three issues surrounding the field of comparative education, namely the place of comparative education in teacher education, the question as to whether the field should be transformed into comparative and international education, and acknowledgement of the place of Comenius as one of the fathers providing an inspiring vision and ideal for the field. The paper finds that in view of the current momentous societal changes and educational expansion in the world, there is a compelling case for the field of comparative education to be transformed into comparative and international education, furthermore, that to equip teachers for their role as professionals in this world a place for comparative and international education in teacher education programmes is essential; and thirdly, that due recognition should be given to the place of Comenius as a trailblazer in providing the rationale for the field of comparative and international education.

    This article was written on the basis of the text created by the author as part of the Polish component of the Reducing Early School Leaving in the EU project carried out within the 7th Framework Program of the European Union for the years 2013-2018. The text was prepared when the author followed a research apprenticeship program at the Faculty of Education of the University of Warsaw. The article describes the teacher’s profession over the past fifteen years, placing special emphasis on teachers’ education, teachers’ careers, rules for and structure of employment.

    Opis:
    The unregulated legal status of the speech and language therapy profession and speech and language therapy as an independent scientific discipline are reasons for significant differences in the way SLTs are educated in Poland. In order to find out the opinions of students and graduates of SLT studies (working in the profession) on academic education, the survey was conducted with 87 participants. Conducting the survey in the conditions of a pandemic situation also made it possible to assess distance forms of teaching and revealed disproportions in the level of satisfaction with practical and theoretical courses conducted in this form. The collected opinions form the basis for the reflections undertaken in the article on SLT and the possible and necessary changes in the system of training future SLTs.
    Nieuregulowany status prawny zawodu logopedy oraz logopedii jako samodzielnej dyscypliny naukowej są przyczyną istotnych różnic w sposobie kształcenia logopedów w Polsce. W celu poznania opinii studentów i absolwentów studiów logopedycznych (pracujących w zawodzie) na temat kształcenia akademickiego przeprowadzono ankietę, w której wzięło udział 87 osób. Przeprowadzenie badania w warunkach sytuacji pandemicznej pozwoliło także na dokonanie oceny zdalnych form nauczania i wykazało dysproporcje w poziomie satysfakcji z zajęć praktycznych i teoretycznych prowadzonych w tej formule. Zgromadzone opinie stanowią podstawę do podjętych w artykule rozważań na temat logopedii oraz możliwych i potrzebnych zmian w systemie kształcenia przyszłych logopedów.

    Wybór zawodu to bardzo istotna decyzja, przed podjęciem której staje każdy młody człowiek. Ma ona istotny wpływ na dalsze życie (zawodowe i poniekąd osobiste) każdego człowieka. Dlatego w trakcie edukacji uczeń może skorzystać z pomocy specjalistów z zakresu orientacji i poradnictwa zawodowego. W artykule omówione zostały podstawy prawne funkcjonowania doradztwa zawodowego w polskich placówkach oświatowych. Ponadto przedstawione zostały wymagania formalne, zakres obowiązków i cechy charakteru, jakimi musi legitymować się szkolny doradca zawodowy.
    The choice of profession is a crucial decision which every young person has to make. It has a significant impact on life (professional and to a certain extent personal) of each person. Therefore, in the course of education the student can benefit from the help of specialists in the field of guidance and employment counselling. The article discusses the legal basis of employment counselling in Polish educational institutions. Moreover, it presents the formal requirements, responsibilities and traits of character which the school employment counsellor should have.

We compared this group with younger female teachers and we examined which attributes are typical of this age category.     Za sukcesem fińskiego i estońskiego systemu edukacji stoi przede wszystkim wysoka jakość szkolenia nauczycieli. Celem niniejszego opracowania jest prezentacja wybranych aspektów procesu kształcenia pedagogów wczesnej edukacji w Finlandii i Estonii – w krajach, których systemy edukacji uznawane są za efektywne i innowacyjne, a także plasują się na najwyższych pozycjach w rankingach europejskich. Co stoi za sukcesem fińskiego procesu kształcenia nauczycieli, uznawanego często za wzorcowy wśród krajów europejskich, oraz estońskiego, o którym zbyt często się nie mówi? To pytanie, wokół którego koncentruje się niniejsza refleksja. Analiza literatury źródłowej pozwala zidentyfikować kluczowe, innowacyjne elementy kształcenia nauczycieli wczesnej edukacji w Finlandii i Estonii oraz wskazać na podobieństwa i różnice w obu systemach. W pierwszej części opracowania autorka przygląda się statusowi zawodu nauczyciela w Finlandii i Estonii, następnie omawia proces rekrutacji do zawodu i specyfikę kształcenia przyszłych pedagogów w tych krajach. Mając świadomość, iż jakość systemu edukacji jest bezpośrednio związana ze specyfiką kształcenia nauczycieli, autorka przygląda się fińskim i estońskim programom studiów i stara się wydobyć te elementy, które uważa za wyróżniające się. Szczegółowo omawia specyfikę praktyk zawodowych oraz inicjatywę roku zawodowego.
    High quality of teacher training is the main reason for the success of the Finnish and Estonian education systems. The aim of this study is to present selected aspects of the process of teaching early school educators in Finland and Estonia – the countries in which education systems are effective, innovative and rank highest in European analyses concerning schools. What is the secret of the success of Finnish teacher education, often considered a benchmark among European countries; and of the Estonian system of teacher training, which is hardly ever mentioned? This is the question on which this work is focused. The analysis of sources makes it possible to identify key innovative elements of teacher education in Finland and Estonia, and to show similarities and differences in both systems. In the first part of the article, the author analyses the status of the teaching profession in Finland and Estonia, and then she discusses the recruitment process and the specific characteristics of teacher training systems in these countries. Taking into account that the quality of the education system is directly related to the specific nature of teacher education, the author studies the Finnish and Estonian curricula of studies, and tries to find some elements that can be considered outstanding. Also, she discusses in detail the specific characteristics of student internship and the initiative of the professional year.
