Opis:
This study, conducted in the period 2006-2008, involved an evaluation of yield and commercially useful traits of red cabbage grown from seedlings produced from seeds sown at three different times (the second decade of April, the third decade of April, and the first decade of May). Seedlings were produced in multicell trays in an unheated greenhouse and in a nursery bed from seeds sown at the same time. The experiment included 6 red cabbage cultivars (‘Huzaro F1’, ‘Kalibos’, ‘Langedijker Polana’, ‘Rodeo F1’, ‘Roxy F1’, ‘Zelox F1’). After cabbage heads were harvested in the second decade of October (in each year), total and marketable yield as well as head weight and the head shape index were determined. Red cabbage yield was shown to be significantly dependent on the cultivar, time of sowing, and method of seedling production. Among the cultivars studied, the following proved to be the most productive, irrespective of the other experimental factors: ‘Zelox F1’ (marketable yield averaged 398.11 kg×100 m-2), ‘Roxy F1’ (marketable yield averaged 368.82 kg×100 m-2), and ‘Rodeo F1’ (marketable yield averaged 331.59 kg×100 m-2). The cultivar ‘Kalibos’ was characterized by the lowest marketable yield (on average 257.09 kg×100 m-2). Delayed sowing (to produce seedlings) by 10 and 20 days, compared to the earliest sowing time, had a significant effect on the reduction in total and marketable yield. Irrespective of the time of sowing, the production of seedlings in multicell trays did not have a significant effect on higher head weight. But the influence of the cultivar was significant – heads of the highest weight were found in the yield of the cultivar ‘Zelox F1’ (head weight was on average 1.71 kg). The head shape index was more than 1 and on average it did not exceed 1.35. The cultivar ‘Kalibos’ had the most elongated heads (with a conical shape), while cabbage heads in the cultivar ‘Langedijker Polana’ were closest to the spherical shape.
Badania przeprowadzone w latach 2006-2008 obejmowały ocenę plonowania i cech użytkowych kapusty czerwonej uprawianej z rozsady produkowanej z siewu nasion w trzech terminach (druga dekada kwietnia, trzecia dekada kwietnia i pierwsza dekada maja). Opóźnienie siewu nasion w celu wyprodukowania rozsady o 10 i 20 dni, w porównaniu z najwcześniejszym terminem siewu, wpłynęło istotnie na obniżenie wielkości plonu ogólnego i handlowego. Najbardziej wydłużone główki miała stożkowa odmiana ‘Kalibos’, a najbardziej zbliżone do kształtu kulistego – odmiana ‘Langedijker Polana’.

Minimum Production Time model of the machining process optimization problem comprising seven lathe machining operations were developed using Genetic Algorithms solution method. The various cost and time components involved in the minimum production cost and minimum production time criteria respectively, as well as all relevant technological/practical constraints were determined. An interactive, user-friendly computer package was then developed in Microsoft Visual Basic.Net environment to implement the developed models. The package was used to determine optimal machining parameters of cutting speed, feed rate and depth of cut for the seven machining operations with twenty-three technological constraints in the conversion of a cylindrical metal bar stock into a finished machined profile. The result of the single-objective machining process optimization models shows that the minimum production time is 21.84 min.

Increased competition on the global market forces producers to follow policies leading to finite production runs. This situation requires implementation of a new type of inspection procedures with the aim to improve or sustain production quality levels. One of the most important aspects in the design of inspection processes is the specification of inspection intervals. This paper provides a simple procedure to determine an approximate optimal inspection interval h for a given inspection plan, characterized by its probability of type-I error a and probability of type-II error β, for processes with finite run length.

Opis:
The study involves the development of multi-objective optimization model for turning machining process. This model was developed using a GA - based weighted-sum of minimum production cost and time criteria of multipass turning machining process subject to relevant technological/practical constraints. The results of the single-objective machining process optimization models for the multipass turning machining process when compared with those of multi-objective machining process model yielded the minimum production cost and minimum production time as $5.775 and 8.320 min respectively (and the corresponding production time and production cost as 12.996 min and $6.992, respectively), while those of the multi-objective machining process optimization model were $5.841and 9.097 min. Thus, the multi-objective machining process optimization model performed better than each of the single-objective model for the two criteria of minimum production cost and minimum production time respectively. The results also show that minimum production time model performs better than the minimum production cost model. For the example considered, the multi-objective model gave a lower production time of 30.0% than the corresponding production time obtained from the minimum production cost model, while it gave a lower production cost of 16.46% than the corresponding cost obtained by the minimum production time model.

The Decision Makers in the production organizations, which produce multiple different products at the same time, set the priorities for what the organization desires to produce. This priority is sorting the products in order to schedule the production based on these priorities. The production organizations receive a huge number of orders from different customers, each order contains many products with close delivery dates. The organization aims to produce multiple different products at the same time, in order to satisfy all customers by delivering all orders at the right time. This study will propose a method to prioritize the production to produce a multiple different products at the same time, the production lines will produce multiple different products. This method will prioritize the products using Multi Criteria Decision Making technique, and prioritize the production operations using a new algorithm called Algorithm for Prioritization of Production Operations. In addition, the study will provide an algorithm for production scheduling using the production priority calculated based on the proposed method. The study will also compare the scheduling based on the priority rules and based on the proposed method through total production time and the variety of products produced.

Unrelated Parallel Machines Scheduling Problem (U-PMSP) is a category of discrete optimization problems in which various manufacturing jobs are assigned to identical parallel machines at particular times. In this paper, a specific production scheduling task the U-PMSP with Machine and Job Dependent Setup Times, Availability Constraint, Time Windows and Maintenance Times is introduced. Machines with different capacity limits and maintenance times are available to perform the tasks. After that our problem, the U-PMSP with Machine and Job Dependent Setup Times, Availability Constraints, Time Windows and Maintenance Times is detailed. After that, the applied optimization algorithm and their operators are introduced. The proposed algorithm is the genetic algorithm (GA), and proposed operators are the order crossover, partially matched crossover, cycle crossover and the 2-opt as a mutation operator. Then we prove the efficiency of our algorithm with test results. We also prove the efficiency of the algorithm on our own data set and benchmark data set. The authors conclude that this GA is effective for solving high complexity parallel machine problems.

The article presents the results of investigations into the failure frequency of a selected strategic machine, i.e. a plastic extruder working in an enterprise manufacturing pre-insulated pipes for the needs of the heatgenerating industry. The analysis has been focused on the time of failure-free work, the time of waiting for a failure to be repaired and the time of failure removal by means of MTBF, MTTR and MTR indicators. The analysis has been conducted in the aspect of machine’s work with uneven load, which is forced by the seasonal, changeable character of the production volume. Changes in the determined indicators were examined in particular production periods and at monthly intervals during a calendar year. The research analysis and the conclusions formulated on its basis made it possible to put forward a proposal of measures aimed at improving the current situation and ensuring a better effectiveness of activities undertaken by maintenance teams, as well as their better co-operation with production departments.

Standard measures of economic activity relate to goods and services offered by the market. Stiglitz’s report, however, suggests that not only monetary value or economic products create welfare, but non-monetary components should also be included in the System of National Accounts. Although household production is registered in official statistics, the main part of it, i.e. nearly 75-80% of the total home production remains outside of the GDP. The Household Production Satellite Account (HHSA) is a macroeconomic analysis covering both market and non-market home production. The National Time Transfer Accounts (NTTA) is, next to HHSA, an analysis aimed to register and observe the directions of transfers and to present the recipients and givers of home production. Regular estimations provided by the HHSA and NTTA may prove a valuable supporting tool to national accounts, pension systems, or social policy as they provide a great deal of macroeconomic information regarding households, their economic and living conditions, social changes, and welfare.

In conditions of unit and small batch production a very important role is played by time of product availability for the customer. Despite using modern management techniques setup time still play an important role in the production cycle time. In the examined companies the relation between rearmament times to processing times is still high. The above researches inspired the author to prepare the method of setup times’ reduction through proper arrangement of tasks in the operational production plan. Optimization of the daily production plans is based on two-level division of scheduling and arranging tasks. The method was validated in conditions of the production practice for unit and small batch manufacturing. An example of arranging tasks for the laser cutter was given. The presented method is one of elements of the computer aided expert system for SME.

The Banbury mixing process (BMP) is to supplies the specific characteristic compounds for the tire manufacturing process. Idle time in the BMP was a problem caused by the aging process between mixing steps and the limited space for processing, measured in pallets. In this study, the resource-constrained project scheduling model (RCPS) is modified in case of the objective function and the input value of resource constraint to minimize idle time (SST). The complete minimization (Cmax) is changed from minimizing the starting time of the last job to the starting time of all jobs. In addition, the non-limited resource is defined as the input for the space capacity to reduce the idle time. As the results, the SST can provide the schedule that make less 5 time periods of idle time. Moreover, when considering the relationship between mixing and aging, aging process that is scheduled from SST starts immediately comparison to Cmax that some of aging process are not. Furthermore, the effect of the quantity of pallets was also examined. Although the non-limited resource does not make any delay to the schedule but the limited quantity is not. When pallets are limited, aging jobs were significantly impacted, with the last aging pallet being delayed. To reduce delays, it prepares an adequate supply of pallets that is close to or equal to its requirement that is defined by the non-limited resource. Further research combining the scheduling of the BMP with the tire manufacturing process and more techniques to modify RCPS are applied.
