    The paper deals with the issue of corporate social responsibility as an instrument of operationalising the paradigm of sustainable development on the microeconomic level in the sector of production enterprises. It presents a genesis and importance of CSR and indicates the most relevant essential instruments of CSR implementation on an enterprise level. The paper also analyses endogenous and exogenous benefits from implementing CSR into the business practice.
    Artykuł podejmuje problematykę społecznej odpowiedzialności biznesu jako instrumentu opercjonalizacji paradygmatu zrównoważonego rozwoju na poziomie mikroekonomicznym, w sektorze przedsiębiorstw produkcyjnym. Przedstawiono w nim genezę i znaczenie CSR oraz wskazano najważniejsze instrumenty realizacji CSR na poziomie przedsiębiorstwa. Jednocześnie omówiono korzyści o charakterze endo- i egzogenicznym wynikające z wdrożenia CSR do praktyki gospodarczej.

    In this paper, the authors focused on the analysis and evaluation of factors affecting the level of occupational risk in "small" enterprises, with a particular emphasis on psychophysical factors in the manufacturing sector. The study was conducted using a self-administered questionnaire. The results were verified using the strucla interview method with elements of observation. The purpose of the paper was to draw attention to – often overlooked in the assessment of occupational risks by employers – psychophysical hazards with particular emphasis on psychosocial hazards. Respondents – employees of enterprises with a particular focus on the manufacturing sector – point to psycho-physical hazards as those that, right after hazardous (accident) hazards, significantly affect the level of occupational risk. However, the assessment of factors determining the level of occupational risk changes with the age of respondents. Older workers, more often than younger ones, perceive the factors that affect the level of occupational risk. Their experience and ability to reliably identify risks can be very useful in creating awareness of safe behavior among the youngest workers, who are most vulnerable to occupational accidents. The article also presents analyses and assessments of the symptoms of occupational stress, which is one of the factors shaping psycho-physical risk that is so often underestimated by many workers and employers.

    A working group consists of two or more people between whom there is interaction and mutual interaction. Not every group of people is a team, but each team is considered a group. Proper team creation facilitates work on the production process and communication. The article presents the method of selecting people for work teams. Personality profiling using Myers-Briggs type indicator serves as the basis of assessing each team member’s abilities to work with others. In the article, the MBTI method was presented on a practical example of a company from the automotive industry. This example consisted of creating three working groups managing production lines using the Myers-Briggs method and comparing the results with the teams that manage these lines in reality. The method of selection of working teams will be applied in the functioning of each production company.

    The globalization process and the marginalization of Europe in world production prompted the German economy to implement the Industry 4.0 concept called the fourth industrial revolution. As a part of the proposed concept, a close connection of physical objects with the information network should be made. Enterprises will connect by intelligent resources communicating through the modern Internet of Things technologies, big data, and cloud computing. Therefore modern enterprises have a new further challenge which means a need to build and cooperate within cyber-physical systems. The aim of the article is to present key challenges for Polish small and medium-sized manufacturing enterprises oriented to the cooperation within the Industry 4.0 concept. Furthermore, the results of surveys conducted on a selected group of Polish production companies in the metal sector are shown. These results present the condition of Polish enterprises, their concerns and expectations regarding the implementation of the Industry 4.0 concept. The paper contains also the new idea to create the Cyber Industry Network (CIN) which means a kind of the on-line available platform for exchanging production capacity of small and medium enterprises and allows for the efficient combining of free resources to realize joint production projects.

    Work safety is an autotelic value. The health and life of the employee should be a priority in any work process. The risk of loss of health and life is a frequent phenomenon in manufacturing enterprises. According to the data of the Central Statistical Office, in the first half of 2020, approx. 24 thousand people who were injured in accidents at work were reported to the office. Approximately every third of these accidents is related to a manufacturing company. The SME sector generates the largest number of accidents at work. The results of the survey concerning opinions on the risk of losing health and life at work are presented in this article. The survey was conducted among employees of the SME sector, with particular emphasis on manufacturing companies. The results presented in the article represent only a part of the larger picture.

    The factors which caused problems in swine production of Ukraine were identified. The trends in biogas production and consumption at farm enterprises in swine farming were studied. The evaluation of the production efficiency of both pork and alternative fuel – biogas – was made. A polynomial model, which describes potential of biogas production at farm enterprises in swine breeding in terms of natural gas in the years of 1990-2013 and envisages further increase of this indicator, was developed. It has been established that biogas production and consumption from swine substrates at farm enterprises will allow producing ecologically clean alternative fuel, ensuring food safety, creating new jobs, increasing business profits, reducing import fuel dependence. The research results can help solve practical problems of farm enterprises in swine production and in agrarian business in general.

    Głównym celem niniejszych badań było wstępne rozpoznanie czynników wpływających na rozwój produkcji roślin strączkowych przeznaczanych na cele towarowe lub paszowe w wielkoobszarowych przedsiębiorstwach rolnych. To właśnie m.in. duże gospodarstwa rolne mogą potencjalnie stać się ważnym ogniwem w łańcuchu marketingowym krajowego przemysłu paszowego, dostarczając odpowiednio duże partie surowców do zakładów paszowych. Kategoria przedsiębiorstw wielkoobszarowych jest przykładem podejścia tradycyjnego, w którym rozmiar działalności utożsamiany jest z wielkością posiadanego zasobu. Stąd też w niniejszym artykule posłużono się kategorią przedsiębiorstwa rolnego, czyli wielkoobszarowego podmiotu prowadzącego działalność ukierunkowaną na potrzeby rynkowe (produkcję towarową). Publikacja została przygotowana w ramach Obszaru badawczego 5. „Ekonomiczne uwarunkowania rozwoju produkcji, infrastruktury, rynku i systemu obrotu, a także opłacalności wykorzystania roślin strączkowych na cele paszowe w Polsce”, program wieloletni „Ulepszenie krajowych źródeł białka roślinnego, ich produkcji, wykorzystania w paszach”.
    The main purpose of this research was to initially identify the factors influencing the development of legume production intended for commercial or fodder purposes in large-scale agricultural enterprises. It is, among others large farms have the potential to become an important link in the marketing chain of the domestic feed industry by supplying sufficiently large batches of raw materials to feed establishments. The category of large-scale enterprises is an example of the traditional approach in which the size of the activity is equated with the size of the owned resource. Hence, this article uses the category of an agricultural enterprise, i.e. a large-scale entity that conducts activities aimed at market needs (commodity production). The publication was prepared as part of Research Area 5. "Economic conditions for the development of production, infrastructure, market and trading system, as well as profitability of using legumes for fodder in Poland", multi-annual program "Improvement of domestic sources of vegetable protein, their production, use in feed ".

    The article presents an array of specific issues regarding the employed technology and operational efficiency of mining activities, which could and should become the subject of conducted scientific research. Given the circumstances of strong market competition and increasing requirements concerning environmental conditions, both in terms of conducted mining activities and produced coal quality parameters, it is imperative to develop and implement innovative solutions regarding the employed production technology, the safety of work conducted under the conditions of increasing natural hazards, as well as the mining enterprise management systems that enable its effective functioning. The article content pertains to the last group of issues in the most detailed way, particularly in terms of the possibility for rational conducted operation cost reduction.
    W artykule przedstawiono szereg wybranych zagadnień dotyczących technologii oraz efektywności prowadzenia działalności górniczej, które mogą i powinny stać się przedmiotem prowadzonych badań naukowych. W warunkach silnej konkurencji rynkowej oraz zwiększających się wymogów, dotyczących uwarunkowań środowiskowych, zarówno w zakresie prowadzenia działalności górniczej, jak i parametrów jakościowych produkowanego węgla, niezbędne jest opracowywanie i wdrażanie innowacyjnych rozwiązań dotyczących stosowanych technologii wydobycia, bezpieczeństwa robót prowadzonych w warunkach zwiększających się zagrożeń naturalnych, a także systemów zarządzania przedsiębiorstwem górniczym, pozwalających na jego efektywne funkcjonowanie. W treści artykułu do tej ostatniej grupy zagadnień odniesiono się najbardziej szczegółowo, zwłaszcza w zakresie możliwości racjonalnego obniżania kosztów prowadzonej eksploatacji.

    The aim of the article is to present a method of choosing the characteristics production processes in mechanical engineering enterprises. This selection was made Using the method of expert evaluation group. The obtained results were used to identify companies that meet the highest degree in the selected features. So a specific set companies was an attempt to research the development of the research project: "Computer aided management system in the field of knowledge management in engineering industries Wmpanies" in 2010-2013, No. 03-0112-10/2010 dated 09.12.2010.

    In the publication presents organizational aspects of process of production preparation of new product in small- and medium-sized enterprises, with the particular emphasis on key decisions. These decisions are the basis for continuation construction and technology works, as well as determine their effectiveness and efficiency. It also identified decision makers and scope of actions and informations, which are the basis for taking proper decisions.

    Managing a plant for construction elements that can compete on the global market requires the consideration of risk in many areas of the plant (i.e. producing sleepers for railways). In this paper, which is focused on distribution of risk faced by plants for construction elements and development of risk-management model, it is proven that effectively management of risk in plants for construction elements is possible.

    Project management is one of the method supporting the preparation of production of a new product, which allow for effective market launch and building on this competitive advantage. Specificity of small and medium-sized enterprises cause, that there is a need to develop a practical model for the use of project management method in the preparation of production of a new product, which will suit to these enterprises. The article presents problems and opportunities, which arise from the specific features of small and medium-sized enterprises, which should to be included in this model.

    The research aimed to identify promising areas and outline problems associated with the transition of Ukrainian industrial enterprises towards advanced innovative development based on information and knowledge and to formulate recommendations for improving the knowledge management and commercialisation at these enterprises. The study used several methods for analysis, including a literature review; system, structural and statistical analyses; SWOT analysis; the inference method; and interpretation. The research efforts resulted in systemised major sources of knowledge in an enterprise and types of their utilisation. The performed analysis found the key ways to obtain and commercialise knowledge used by Ukrainian industrial enterprises. The results were compared with data of the EU countries. The analysis produced strengths and weaknesses of the existing knowledge management system used in Ukrainian enterprises. Strengths: growth in the number of enterprises producing new knowledge and implementing marketing and organisational innovations; intensified patent activity; and a rational structure of innovation-active enterprises by their size. Weaknesses: the new knowledge structure does not meet the needs of enterprises; an insignificant and unstable share of innovation-active enterprises in the total number of firms; and insignificant sales volumes of patents. The research revealed that Ukrainian enterprises had the potential ability to produce and commercialise new knowledge effectively and to use it as the basis to form, strengthen and implement relative competitive advantages, which would contribute to the innovative growth of the Ukrainian economy as a whole. Recommendations were designed for the formation of prerequisites necessary to improve the efficiency of knowledge management in the context of conditions required for the innovative development of domestic enterprises. The obtained results can be used as an information base for evaluating the system of knowledge production and commercialisation at Ukrainian enterprises to enhance the management and identify promising areas for innovative development.

    The main aim of the paper is to study the impact of the level of digitization of business activities on the human resources orientation on sustainable consumption and production (SCP) in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Design/methodology/approach: During the research process, a survey was conducted among 140 SMEs in Poland at the beginning of 2020. The multiple regression model was built to find the link between the variables. Findings: Statistical analysis indicated that digitization did not have a clearly positive impact on employees’ orientation towards SCP. Among the analysed variables, negatively correlated relationships appeared, especially in the area of the digitization of contacts with the customers. Research limitations: As limitations, it can be pointed the managerial approach during survey research, limited research group, as well as the study period excluding pandemic time. Originality/value: The novelty of the research manifests itself in in the fact that the research problem was applied to the small and medium-sized enterprises, instead of to corporations.

Artykuł opiera się o badania własne przeprowadzone na grupie 150 MSP w Polsce w 2016 r.
    Risk management should be a key element of the strategic management of any organization, regardless of its size. It increases the probability of success of the organization and achieving the objectives. The aim of the article was to determine the level of technical information and production risk based on the opinions of entrepreneurs, and to identify the relationship between the perception of the impact of individual risks and the degree of linking risk management with the enterprise strategy. Article is based on own research, conducted among 150 SMEs in Poland in 2016.

    Artykuł opisuje możliwość wykorzystania narzędzi szczupłego zarządzania do doskonalenia procesów produkcyjnych w małych przedsiębiorstwach. Porusza kwestię obaw związanych z koncepcją Lean oraz wskazuje przyczyny świadczące o konieczności jej wdrożenia. W ramach studium przypadku nawiązano współpracę z rodzinną firmą produkcyjną, zlokalizowaną na terenie Dolnego Śląska, specjalizującą się w produkcji wyrobów dostosowanych do indywidualnych potrzeb klientów. Bazując na pomiarach i obserwacjach przeprowadzonych na reprezentatywnych procesach, zidentyfikowano różne typy marnotrawstwa, którego wyeliminowanie pozwoliłby na rozwój firmy. Występujące problemy zobrazowano dodatkowo przy pomocy schematu przepływu materiału oraz diagramu spaghetti.
    The paper describes the possibility of using lean management tools to improve production processes in small enterprises. It raises the issue of concerns about the Lean concept and indicates the reasons for its implementation. As a part of the case study, a cooperation was established with a family production company located in Lower Silesia, specializing in the production of products adapted to the individual needs of customers. Based on measurements and observations carried out on representative processes, various types of waste were identified as a potential for improvement. The problems appearing are illustrated with the use of the material flow diagram and the spaghetti diagram.

    The theoretical aim of the paper is to analyses the main function and concept of production control in operation management. The empirical aim of the paper is to investigate polish production firm opinion about factors affecting production planning and control and also functions of production planning and control. Production control is very important in every factory, and every aspect of operation and production management especially in times of Industry 4.0 conditions. In the paper we presented all classical seven task of production management control. Also there is in the paper an analysis of main factors affecting production control in industrial organization. In the paper we analysed the problems connected with production control. Nowadays in the conditions of Industry 4.0 this is very important concept because the increasing level of digitalization of all industrial processes leads to possibility of detailed analysis of all processes and better level of control. Operation managers should have good level of knowledge about production control and especially quality control. They can use in this many new information tools like statistical methods and artificial intelligence. Especially we think that in the future many function of production control would be assisted by artificial intelligence. We also in the paper give results of research conducted on example of 30 polish production organizations located in Silesia region.

W niniejszym artykule podjęto próbę oceny gotowości funkcjonowania współczesnych małych i średnich przedsiębiorstw w sieciach produkcyjnych, na podstawie analizy literatury oraz przeprowadzonych badań ankietowych na wybranej grupie specjalistycznych przedsiębiorstw produkcyjnych z regionu województwa lubuskiego, należących do sektora metalowego.
    The functioning of small and medium-sized enterprises in production networks gives many opportunities for businesses today, but also raises some concerns and requires the solution of many problems. The process of forming a network of companies for certain joint ventures depends on the degree of preparation of these companies to share their resources, the possibility of estimating the related costs and the rapid planning jointly implemented projects. The article attempts to assess the readiness of the functioning of today's small and medium-sized enterprises in production networks based on the analysis of literature and conducted surveys on a selected group of specialized production companies from the Lubuskie Province region, belonging to the metal sector.

    Manufacturing companies are constantly increasing the level of knowledge and innovation, which may result in full automation of processes in line with the concept of industry 4.0. Increasing the degree of process automation may, on the one hand, limit human presence in the processes, and, on the other hand, change the competences of employees. The literature on the subject describes the processes of implementing innovation and transforming enterprises in the context of the changing role of a man. The article aims to present the effects of the implementation of process automation and the changing role of a man in the enterprise, based on the example of an enterprise using the concepts of industry 4.0. The article is of a practical nature and the results of the research are a source of knowledge aimed mainly at process management.
