Opis:
Cataclastic rocks of Abu Rushied area (South Eastern Desert, Egypt) characterized by the presence of niobium, tantalum, zirconium minerals as well as uranium-thorium minerals. Physical upgrading process was applied using gravity and magnetic separation techniques to concentrate these economic minerals mainly to obtain the magnetic niobium concentrate at 0.2- 0.5 ampere, beside the non-magnetic Zr and U at 1.5 ampere. The chemical processing upon niobium concentrate was performed using NH4F roasting process at 250ºC followed by selective precipitation of Nb as Nb-sulfide. An alkaline fusion using NaOH was applied upon zirconium concentrate at the optimum conditions of: zircon concentrate/ NaOH mass ratio 1/2, fusion temperature of 650ºC and 2.5h fusion time followed by selective precipitation of Zr as Zr- tartrate. Finally, two flowsheets were drawn summarizing the whole recovery processes.

Opis:
For the past few decades, control and building engineering communities have been focusing on thermal comfort as a key factor in designing sustainable building evaluation methods and tools. However, estimating the indoor air temperature of buildings is a complicated task due to the nonlinear and complex building dynamics characterised by the time-varying environment with disturbances. The primary focus of this paper is designing a predictive and probabilistic room temperature model of buildings using Gaussian processes (GPs) and incorporating it into model predictive control (MPC) to minimise energy consumption and provide thermal comfort satisfaction. The full probabilistic capabilities of GPs are exploited from two perspectives: the mean prediction is used for the room temperature model, while the uncertainty is involved in the MPC objective not to lose the desired performance and design a robust controller. We illustrated the potential of the proposed method in a numerical example with simulation results.

The individual parameters which required for the simulation process were determined through direct shear test based on the variation of sand compactability. The novelty of this research work is that the individual micro-mechanical parameters were adopted depend on its directly proportional to the change of sand density during the compaction process. Boundary conditions of the applied load, roller and fixed constraint were specified. An extremely coarse mesh was used and the solution by time-dependent study was done for investigation of material-dependent behaviour of green sand during the compaction process. The research implemented also simulation of the desired points in sand mould to predict behaviour of moulding process, and prevent failure of the sand mould. Distance dependent displacement and distance-dependent pressure have been determined to investigate the effective moulding parameters without spent further energy and cost for obtaining green sand mould. The obtained numerical results of the sand displacement show good agreement with the practical results.

Opis:
A hubnerite (MnWO4) mineral concentrate was prepared from the mineralized quartz veins of Gabal Qash Amir muscovite granite. This W- concentrate was chemically processed to obtain the more economic highly pure tungsten oxide. To accomplish this goal, two successive atmospheric agitation leaching processes were conducted. The first includes HCl acid agitation leaching to breakdown hubnerite mineral structure. The purpose was also to get rid of the associated Mn and Fe contents from one hand, and to prepare the more important intermediate tungstic acid from the other hand. From the latter, a sodium tungstate (Na2HWO4) leach liquor was adequately prepared after applying the second atmospheric NaOH agitation leeching process using the optimum conditions of 40% caustic soda concentration at solid/ liquid ratio of 1/3, 180oC for 2h. Finally, 7% Alamine 336 in kerosene was used for extracting 93.7% of W content under the studied optimum conditions of O/A ratio of 1/1, contact time 7 min at room temperature (20±5oC) and pH of 8.

Opis:
An anaerobic-anoxic/oxic (AA/O) five-tank biological process called five-step continuous flow activated sludge process (FSCFASP) was developed to force the oscillation of organic matter and nutrient concentrations in process reactors. The run scheme and schematic diagram of FSCFASP was described. The run cycle was divided into two symmetrical half cycles with eight periods during each cycle. The duration of each period was established according to biological process requirements. The optimal running times of the periods were 90, 60, 60, 30, 90, 60,6 0 and 30 min at the HRT of 16 h, air/water ratio of 35% and SRT of 21 day at the temperature range of 19-23 °C. The optimized system achieved 88.09±1.43%, 90.33±2.9%, 68.83±5.34% and 87.67±2.9% of the chemical oxygen demand, NH4+-N, TN, and TP removal efficiencies, respectively, during a 11-month operation with the effluent meeting the Chinese sewage discharge standard GB18918-2002 (level A). Simultaneous nitrification and denitrification phenomena were observed in the tank one which is important to reduce the quantity of aeration and the duration of a next anoxic state. Compared with other existing technologies, this system achieved high nitrogen and phosphorus removal without equipment of sludge and mixed liquor return. Thus, it is effective for reducing energy consumption.

Waplewo in the sixteenth to eighteenth centuries was dominated by several noble families but the most important was the Zawadzki family. When the sole key to the Waplewo estate was in the hands of Kazimierz Zawadzki, he was able to build a stately residence. Towards the end of his life, Kazimierz became the castellan of Chełmno. He was a politician, an active participant in the Royal Prussia diets, a member of the parliament (Sejm) a dozen times and finally he was nominated as a senator. He was also known as a writer and publicist, but he was also known as a restless man who fell under the sentences of tribunals. He had been suing Gdańsk over the eldership of Puck for a long time. He was married to Ludwika Katarzyna Schlieben, and she left their only son, Jan Aleksander. After Jan Aleksander’s death, the Zawadzki Waplewo line died out. Waplewo became dominated by Konstancja Zawadzka, the only daughter of Jan Zawadzki, brother of Kazimierz. Waplewo was ruled over by other noble families and from 1760 by the Sierakowskis. This article outlines the process of the rise and fall of noble fortunes in Royal Prussia.

The economic boom, driven by the demand for slaves and furs in the countries of the Middle East and Middle Asia, the Maghreb and al-Andalus, and the resultant silver fl ows coming into the peripheral zone of Europe, permitted or facilitated the formation of early centres of power. In Wielkopolska, fur from tributes and people captured during raiding expeditions were traded for ores and luxury goods. These, in turn, were used to pay for the retinue (družina). Therefore, prestige and silver constituted the basis of ‘central’ power, conditioned the support for the power and thus its continued reign. The Czech lands were an important link in the transcontinental trade connecting Khazaria and Hungary with al Andalus. The Přemyslids’ power relied heavily on the income arising from the control over the routes passing through Prague. Nevertheless, their reign, notably Boleslav I’s, was also founded upon the organisation of slave export, a factor driving and regulating the Bohemian political economy throughout the second half of the tenth century.

This paper attempts to explain the channel processes and dynamics of two river systems running through a rapidly urbanizing humid tropical deltaic environment with visible threats from industrialization and pollution. Hydraulic processes and parameters were compared with established power function relations for hydraulic geometry and it was discovered that the fundamental relations between channel-geometry dimensions, velocity, and flow can be expressed for the catchments. Ten gauging stations in each catchment were studied and results showed that the studied catchments adjust their geometry to changing discharges. High values of coefficients of determination among variables indicated that much of the downstream variation in channel width to depth ratio can be accounted for by changes in discharge. Also in this study the width/depth ratio (F) was found to be related to the percentage of silt + clay (M) in channel perimeter and that downstream hydraulic-geometry relations are in general agreement with previously published hydraulic and channel adjustment data.

The purpose of this study was to describe processes and methods suggested by science teachers for changing alternative conceptions about genetics. The study focused on a group of 17 (8 male and 9 female) science teachers who were graduate level students or completed a graduate program. Hence, the group was the case of this study. Qualitative data of the study was collected by detailed lesson plans prepared by the participants for overcoming two alternative conceptions about genetics (chromosome is an organelle and DNA is found as a whole set in the body) and follow-up interviews. The data was analyzed by descriptive analysis. The findings showed that the case group of this study represented fragmented processes to overcome the alternative conceptions. At the same time, they did not provide methods or processes in line with conceptual change models. These findings mean that science and technology teachers who have completed a graduate program or are currently graduate students of science education are not able to plan coherent teaching on alternative conceptions or are not aware of conceptual change processes and methods.

The paper deal with devoting the problem of reliability prediction and modeling the functioning process of information and control systems (ICS), which are described by the Markov random process. The methodology of the study consist in considering ICS as Markov systems. Modeling the functioning process of information and control systems will increase authenticity and reliability of information from the ICS, as well as improve the efficiency of its work. As an example, the mathematical model of the functioning the computer system of the dispatch service is constructed in the paper. Mathematical modeling was conducted in the environment of MathCad. Mathematical modeling allows determining the average number of steps before system moves into the absorbing state. Taking into account the length of stay the system in each condition allows determining the average life of the system until the full failure. The development of model and technology for calculating the characteristics of stochastic systems allows investigating a wide class of such systems and determining optimal maintenance operation term in order to ensure reliability and reduce the waste on downtime.

A field survey has been conducted for the study area using the Global Positioning System (GPS) and geological and geomorphological maps of the area. The study area is one of the important areas in Iraq characterized by scarce water resources. The purpose of the study is to determine the hydro-chemical processes and their relationship to groundwater quality carried out in the southwestern desert region of Iraq, where the region lacks extensive studies of water resources. Twenty-eight groundwater samples were collected from wells distributed between the eastern borders of Saudi Arabia and the West Bank of the Euphrates River. For the purpose of hydrogeochemical analyses, the Fetter method was used to collect and examine samples. A large part of the recharge area is located in Saudi Arabia, where the groundwater bearing aquifer represented by the Dammam formation extends to Iraq and Saudi Arabian International borders. The analysis determined the order of cations (Na+ > Ca2+ > Mg2+ > K+) and anions (Cl– > SO42– > HCO3–). High values of the variation coefficient (CV) correspond to the concentration of potassium, sodium and chloride ions (CV: 68.7, 64.7 and 64 respectively). To identify the hydrochemical water facies, the Piper diagram was used. It was found that 53% of the water samples belong to the Na-Cl type and 40% are of the Ca-Mg-Cl type, while the rest of the samples are the Ca-Cl type. To identify geochemical processes, it was found that ion exchange processes via chloroalkaline indices 1 and 2 are prevalent between Ca2+, Mg2+ in the groundwater and Na+, K+ in water bearing rocks. To learn more about the processes that led to the concentration of certain ions, such as sodium, it was found that they tend to be of silicate minerals related to surface runoff of water in recharge areas and carbonic rocks. It was also found that rock / soil-groundwater interaction and evaporation processes were the formal processes in the saturated zone and evaporation in the unsaturated zone are prevalent processes of groundwater ion concentration.

In this study, ultraviolet radiations were used to find the efficiency of removing the oil content from the water produced that brought from the Al-Ahdab oilfield in kut/ Iraq by advanced oxidation process (AOP) using (ZnO/UV) in batch system and continuous system. In batch system were studied the effect of zinc oxide concentration (nanoparticles), time of irradiation, and pH. The highest removal rate of oil from the produced water (100%) was obtained during the following optimal conditions: ZnO NPs as catalyst = 55 mg/L, pH =3, at the time of irradiation of 90 minutes in batch experiments. In the continuous system, the effects of flowrate, number of UV-A lamp and time of reaction were studied, the results obtained were the efficiency of decomposition decreases with increasing the flow rate of solution in reactor, the maximum removal efficiency of the process (ZnO/UV) was 80% at 20 mL/min and irradiation time 120 min. In general, zinc oxide is beneficial through its high oil adsorption capacity in addition, It lowers the amount of oil in the produced water.
