    Opis:
    In math classes solving statistical tasks by using procedures which the student learned by heart is usually used. The authors, thus encouraged learning and teaching statistics on the basis of realistic problems and problem situations, so that the student gets to know statistical concepts within the experience of resolving a real-life problem situation. With this approach to learning and teaching statistics, students acquired a better knowledge and were able to grasp, interpret and make critical evaluations of the statistical information, which was confirmed by the experiment that involved 269 first-grade high school students.

    Teachers’ development programmes focus on the achievement of profession-related and pedagogical competence, as well as on the shaping of professional conduct and culture. Teachers’ work and their personal and professional goals are affected by how they perceive themselves as persons and as professionals, and also by how they see their students and the teaching environment.Research AimThis article aims to present SFA philosophy and explore its implications for the growth of teachers’ professionalism, irrespective of its national or international contexts. The article unveils how to use SFA to make it advantageous for teachers’ professional growth.     Programy rozwoju nauczycieli koncentrują się na osiąganiu kompetencji zawodowych i pedagogicznych, a także na kształtowaniu postaw i kultury zawodowej. Na pracę nauczycieli oraz ich cele osobiste i zawodowe wpływa to, jak postrzegają siebie jako osoby i jako profesjonalistów, a także to, jak postrzegają swoich uczniów i środowisko nauczania.Cel badańCelem niniejszego artykułu jest przedstawienie filozofii SFA i ukazanie jej implikacji dla wzrostu profesjonalizmu nauczycieli, niezależnie od kontekstu krajowego czy międzynarodowego. Artykuł ujawnia jak wykorzystywać SFA w różnych obszarach rozwoju zawodowego nauczycieli.     Opis:
    The scope of this article concerns a currently relevant, significant and very complex notion of an approach to the issue of refuge which the literature on the subject terms the root cause approach. The basis of the root cause approach are preventive actions aiming at eliminating the main causes of a potential or actual conflict which may induce people to become refugees or which are the reason why refugees come forth. Although the assumption that the root cause approach is a critical element in the process of resolving the issue of refuge seems indisputable, it does not defeat other points of view or the development of argumentation which opposes the application of this method. The nature of preventive actions which constitute the root cause approach is the source of a number of theoretical and practical difficulties. Hence, in order to tackle the most problematic aspects of the considered method, this article presents the most critical dilemmas related to the root cause approach. Due to the fact that the principle of non-interference with the internal affairs of a sovereign state is an issue related to one of the most complex perspectives on the root cause approach, it will be especially emphasized. On top of the above-mentioned concerns, the article also touches upon issues related to the interdependence of the root cause approach and social changes taking place in origin countries. It also relates to the positioning of the root cause approach in the hierarchy of a state’s goals and interests and evaluates the effectiveness of unilateral and bilateral forms of cooperation in the context of solving the problem of refuge.

    The article concerns the problem of languages used in modeling and solving problems. Its framework stems from the distinction between two problem solving approaches – expert and interactive approach. The language choice is particularly important for the latter; we cannot solve a problem using a language that has not been used for the problem description. The text presents some arbitrarily chosen problem modeling languages, including computer supported ones. Special attention is paid to the SEQUAL and System Dynamics language.
