- BackgroundThe article reveals the problems of organic farming in Ukraine. The research showed that small producers, such as family farms, have the ability to produce organic products with the appropriate requirements. It will give the chance to realize it further by means of such strategic directions as tax incentives for producers of organic products; implementation of the state program of sustainable development of rural areas, "green" tourism and rural cooperation; elimination of political levers of influence on the implementation of state agricultural policy; implementation of the state program to support the development of advisory services in the field of organic production.Material and methodsA SWOT analysis of the process of organic farming by private peasant household was conducted and the main opportunities and threats, strengths and weaknesses of its functioning and development were identified. The strategy of development of the Ukrainian organic agriculture of family farms has been chosen.ResultsThe SWOT analysis revealed the strengths and weaknesses of private farms, as well as external favorable and unfavorable factors for the development of organic farming. A clear and purposeful state policy will contribute to the effective realization of opportunities and elimination of the negative impact of potential threats.ConclusionsThe strategy of development of the Ukrainian organic agriculture of family farms has been chosen. The implementation of the proposed measures will increase the number of organic farming and organic production, improve the living conditions of rural people, rural development, increase the competitiveness of the economy and incomes.
