This research aims to determine the effectiveness of five discussion techniques (i.e., Debate, Panel, Collegium, Forum and Opposite Panel) on the learning progress in the fifth-grade social studies course. The pretest-posttest control group model, which is one of the real experimental models, was used in the research. The research participants consisted of 58 fifth-grade students studying at five secondary schools located in the centre of the Niğde province (Turkey) in the 2019-2020 spring term. Researchers prepared an achievement test for data collection: The Science, Technology and Society Academic Success Test, which was used in the research as a data collection tool. The statistical program (SPSS, Version 21) was used to analyse the data obtained from the study. The application period of the study lasted for four weeks in total, with three hours of teaching weekly in both groups. After the achievement test was applied to the students, the data was obtained and the application part of the study was terminated. As a result of the research, students taught with discussion techniques were more successful than those taught with conventional teaching activities stipulated by the current curriculum. Along with this result, it can be suggested that teaching based on discussion techniques should be often used in different classes and themes of social studies courses.

This article defends the thesis that, according to St. Thomas Aquinas, when the Ancient Greeks and other Mediterranean cultures prior to them had first started to philosophize, engage in science, they had done so as parts of an individual and community team enterprise. They were convinced that all human beings have a moral duty as rational animals to philosophize—prudentially to wonder about the most universal causes about everything. Considering themselves essentially to be a ‘world-community of prudential wonderers’, they first conceived of philosophy, science, to be a psychological act of prudential wondering practiced by a world-wide community of people. In starting this organization, this world community shared a common, prudent chief aim: to help free the entire known-world from the damaging effects they had commonly recognized brute-animal ignorance causes. They were convinced that an imprudent people can never become philosophical or scientific. St. Thomas maintains that their natural desire to satisfy their wonder about the chief subject, aim, efficient and final cause of the existence, behavior, and truth of everything must have included understanding God. Having this included as part of its chief subject and aim caused them to understand the job of every philosopher chiefly to be what philosophy is for anyone who understands its proper nature: to bring into existence First Philosophy, Metaphysics’—‘the most divine and honorable science’!

The first part of the article deals with the function of the examples in bilingual dictionaries, compared to their function in monolingual ones. First, it is argued that examples in an active bilingual dictionary should principally exemplify the use of the headword’s translation equivalents rather than the headword itself, as it is in the case of monolingual dictionaries. Then a survey is made dealing with examples selected from all simple preposition entries in a recent Polish-French dictionary, taking into consideration both the structure and the function of these examples. The general conclusion is that in the investigated entries exemplifi cation fails seriously enough to make it impossible for users to choose the appropriate equivalent of a particular preposition.

Opis:
The paper discusses ethical guidelines in relation to the conservation of historical monuments made of stone. The presented rules consider the building stone specificity and its susceptibility to various corrosion factors and the character of deteriorated areas in that kind of historic monuments. The basic conservation rule sounding Primum non nocere is deconvoluted to more particular principles like: (i) to preserve authentic historical matter as a carrier of artistic, scientific and historical value of the object, (ii) to provide minimal scale of intervention, (iii) to provide the reversibility of the methods and particularly materials used from conservation or reconstruction works, (iv) to provide distinguishability of reconstructions parts and (v) to provide the integrity of the work of art. The adaptability of these particular rules to the of conservation of stone artistic artefacts is also presented.

Building in a beautiful almost natural environment is a skill that requires knowledge of the principles and regularities which are simple and understandable for everyone as well as knowledge of the nature of things, knowledge of the laws governing nature, experiencing the monsoon season, the use of naturally available materials; poverty imposes the most efficient, cost-effective solutions. Harmony with the seasons, perseverance and faith, social and caste-like organization, only later comes the technology, increasingly modern materials and better law. The study shows what we can learn in a distant Indian province inhabited since prehistoric times, experiencing the monsoon season and the great waves of the ocean, so the choice of location and construction materials is affected by centuries of experience.

The article is to attempt to determine the role and competence-organizational position of the non-permament members of the UN Security Council. The purpose of the conducted research was to analyze the processual dimension of the transformations of a disabled person’s life which take place under the influence of experiences related to practicing sport. Therefore, the article attempts to discuss the issues related to the influence of sport institutions responsible for the organization of sport practiced by physically disabled individuals in their care. In the article, I try to prove the similarity of the sport structure with the educational system structure where, apart from the strictly educational functions, there are also socialization processes taking place, diverse in terms of measures and results. The basis for the realization of the purpose mentioned above was the personal experiences of the researched individuals. Hence, the research exploits qualitative data collected during participant observations and in-depth free interviews conducted among the disabled practicing sports. Analysis and interpretation of the research material was performed in accordance with the procedures of grounded theory. The article has been prepared as a consequence of research carried out between 2012 and 2015 among the society of the disabled who practice professional sports. The studies are related to the characteristics of a sports career of the disabled, which, regarding its specificity, is deeply rooted in institutionalized initiation practices regarding inclusion, continuance and the maintenance of the main action, i.e., practicing sport.

Jana Pawła II w Bełchatowie, przedstawiono zagadnienie optymalizacji, opierając się na konkretnych procesach organizacyjnych zachodzących w podmiocie leczniczym. Opisano zidentyfikowane problemy oraz wdrożone w placówce procesy naprawcze.
Ongoing changes in the environment of medical institutions are the reason for their important changes in management and organizational approach of the management staff. These changes often cause a strong need to optimize organizational activities in managed entities. In this article, the issue of optimization of specific organizational processes taking place in a clinic has been researched, as exemplified by the Hospital Clinic of the Provincial Hospital named after John Paul II in Bełchatów. The article identifies the problems and presents the implementation of remedial processes.

The paper stresses the importance of trainings in the scope of Health and Safety, in this H&S management in the functioning H&S systems of contemporary enterprises. The author also presents the principles of training, including H&S training, considering: demonstrativeness, accessibility, awareness of social responsibility, regularity, knowledge durability and binary relations between theory and practice. The underlying objective of the paper is to present training methods in the scope of Health and Safety. These methods have been aggregated in two groups: explanatory methods and activating methods. Referring to the research conducted within the European programme Leonardo da Vinci „H&S management system in enterprise - introductory module” the author has summarised the criteria for selecting teaching methods with regard to: goals and content of training process, diversification of participants in training groups in the scope of H&S, skills of the trainer and organisational conditions. Moreover, training methods in the scope of H&S have been aggregated, being highly adjusted and reflecting actual professional activities - carried out activities and potential threats that occur at the work post, in the enterprises of training participants. These methods have been characterised considering the following aspects: learning goals, educational resources, organisational conditions and examples of pursued contents.
