Opis:
The paper seeks to work out in a synthetic manner the basic views of Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński on the issues concerning the foundations of the Catholic social doctrine. The author puts forward and justifies a thesis about a personalistic dimension of the Catholic social doctrine according to Cardinal Wyszyński. He shows the main elements of the teaching of the Primate of the Millennium, such as: human rights, the problems of marriage and family, national issues, the idea of a moral-social order, the problems of labour, the right to private property. The paper points to the main foundations and sources of the teaching of Primate Wyszyński, i.e. the Bible, the Magisterium of the Church, the encyclicals of Pope John Paul II.

Archbishop Antoni Kazimierz Ostrowski was the primate of Poland in the years 1777-1784. In older historiography Ostrowski was praised for his deep inner life, ascetical practices, exemplary life, works of mercy, approachability and hospitality. However, some new investigations put in doubt his exemplary priestly conduct. Primate Ostrowski who was sick then spent last two years of his life (1782-1784) abroad where he underwent medical treatment. We have a large correspondence from this period between the primate and the cathedral chapter of Gniezno. The author of the article analyzes these correspondences and clearly shows that archbishop Ostrowski, even when abroad, he really cared for his archdiocese’s affairs. Among his particular interest were the construction of a new seminary building, the renovation of the metropolitan cathedral of Gniezno and the expanding of the Primate’s palace in Warsaw. The article wants to prove that – despite numerous opinions about the Primate’s weaknesses – till the end of his life he strove to be a good shepherd, doing a lot of good things for his archdiocese and for the Church.

In April 1927 the Holy Father Pious XI appointed Rev. Karol Radoński, pastor of the church of the Most Holy Heart of Jesus and St. Florian in Poznań, coadjutor bishop of August Hlond, the archbishop of Gniezno and Poznań. In the literature of the subject it is assumed that the Episcopal nomination took place on 8 April, 1927, even though from an analysis of press accounts of the period it follows that the news was made public only on 22 April. The article, based on source documents, describes the circumstances of the nomination of Rev. K. Radoński as coadjutor bishop and the press context of the event. The nomination was preceded by a press leak about Rev. Józef Kłos, editor-in-chief of ,,Przewodnik Katolicki" as supposedly suggested for the post by Primate Hlond.

Opis:
A new plesiadapiform primate, Phoxomylus puncticuspis gen. et sp. nov., is described based on an isolated but well−preserved upper molar from the early Tiffanian (late Paleocene) Cochrane 2 locality, southwestern Alberta, Canada. Although possessing a robust postprotoconal fold, an unambiguous synapomorphy of primates, Phoxomylus differs from other plesiadapiforms in its retention of primitive molar features, including acutely pointed major cusps and sharp crests, deep trigon basin, and lack of the bunodont coronal specializations that purportedly marked the transition from insectivorous non−primate ancestors to omnivorous/frugivorous basal primates. Coronal features of the holotype of P. puncticuspis imply that during mastication the mandible was adducted in a near−vertical plane, with little capacity for the transverse movement that is already seen in molar morphology of the earliest and most basal plesiadapiform, Purgatorius. Instead, molar morphology in P. puncticuspis implies emphasis on vertical piercing and shearing, specializations for insectivory unlikely to have been derived via reversal from plesiadapiform ancestors having more bunodont molars adapted for omnivory/frugivory. If that is the case, a long “ghost lineage” must link P. puncticuspis to other, basal plesiadapiforms that have yet to be discovered but that had not yet evolved omnivorous adaptations of the dentition.

Książka podejmuje szereg tematów zintegrowanych przez troskę o jedność kapłanów w służbie kościelnej komunii. Dar nadprzyrodzonej mocy występującej w komunii z Bogiem w Kościele pozwala tym, którzy wierzą w Chrystusa na ukształtowanie nowych relacje braterskich, co czyni ich prawdziwą Bożą rodziną. Osobista więź z Bogiem, relacji z biskupem zwyczajnym, innych kapłanów i świeckich są podstawą wymiary, w której księża mają pojawić się jako świadkowie i słudzy komunii.
The author of the article was inspired by the reflections of Primate Stefan Wyszyński on the identity and mission of the presbyter collected in A Letter to my Priests. The book takes up a range of themes integrated by an obvious concern for the unity of priests in the service of ecclesial communion. For the Primate of the Millennium man's social nature clearly confirms the truth about man's calling to live in community, not just the temporal one, but the supernatural one as well. This natural capacity to enter into relations with others, in order to be understood correctly, must be interpreted in the light of Divine Revelation. A rich inner life allows one to contemplate the mystery of the Holy Trinity and perceive it as a source of ecclesial and interpersonal communion. The gift of supernatural power inherent in communion with God in the Church enables those who believe in Christ to forge new fraternal relations, making them a true family of God. This process occurs thanks to priestly ministry, so presbyters are especially called to illuminate their mutual relations with this new style of community life. A personal bond with God, relation with the bishop ordinary, other presbyters and the lay faithful are the basic dimensions in which priests are to appear as the witnesses and servants of communion.

It is now more than thirty years since the death of the Primate of Poland, Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński, known also as the Primate of the Millennium, on May 28, 1981. His pastoral ministry and widespread activity for the good of the Nation took place at a time of great social and political changes in Poland, Europe and eventually the whole world. Cardinal Wyszyński led the Nation through years of restrictions enforced by the dictatorship of an imposed Communist rule. He was the heir of his predecessor Cardinal August Hlond and there was yet another great personality to emerge by his side - the pastor of Krakow, Cardinal Karol Wojtyła, the now Blessed John Paul II. After being elected pope he gave the highest testimony to Cardinal Wyszyński by saying, „[...] there would not be on St. Peter's See this Pope from Poland, who today full of God's fear, but also full of confidence begins a new pontificate, if it were not for your faith that did not step back in fear of imprisonment and suffering, if it were not for your heroic hope, your complete trust in the Mother of God, if it were not for Jasna Góra and the whole period in the history of the Church in our Motherland connected with your ministry as bishop and primate."

Po II Wojnie światowej rozwinął się komunistyczny system wrogo nastawiony do religii i Kościoła w Polsce. Polityka anty-Kościół realizowana przez rząd oznaczała między innymi zwalczanie zakonów w celu całkowitej eliminacji życia religijnego w Polsce. W tym celu został wykorzystany szeroki wachlarz metod administracyjnych, prawnych i ekonomicznych. Były próby pozbawienia zakonów z możliwości przeprowadzania ich charyzmatów, aby przekonać społeczeństwo o nieprzydatności życia zakonnego. Prymas Wyszyński, jako głowa Kościoła w Polsce zaangażował się w obronie zakonów przeciwko złośliwym i wrogim polityki rządu.
After World War II the Communist system hostile towards religion and the Church was installed in Poland. The anti-Church policy implemented by the government meant among other things struggle against religious orders with the aim of a complete elimination of religious life in Poland. For this purpose a wide range of administrative, legal and economic methods were used. There were attempts to deprive religious orders of the opportunities to carry out their charisms and to convince the society of the usefulness of religious life. Primate Wyszyński, as head of the Church in Poland committed himself to the defense of religious orders against the malicious and hostile policy of the government. His activity aimed at ensuring religious orders with at least a minimum space needed to live and to realize their charisms. His concern for the future of religious orders was present both in documents regarding the state - Church relations dispatched from the Primate's office and in his personal meetings with representatives of the highest authorities in the country. In addition, Cardinal Wyszyński took action towards improvement of spiritual life in religious congregations and consolidation of all religious orders in Poland. Primate Wyszyński's extensive activity as well as his great authority enabled religious life to survive the time of persecution in the People's Republic of Poland and to weather the struggle strengthened.
