Opis:: The article is dedicated to the issue of reception of literary classics by primary school pupils. The fundamental contemporary reception problem consists in the increasing linguistic and cultural strangeness which hampers, and sometimes even prevents independent reading by pupils. The theoretical reflection concerning the ways of preventing the rejection of the classics, as well as overcoming their strangeness is combined with the analysis of particular cases (Cinderella and its contemporary renarrations, The Barrel Organ by B. Prus, and Revenge by A. Fredro). The conclusions emphasize the importance of hermeneutic activities on the part of the teacher, which should precede and boost the act of reading. These are metaphorically referred to as the “gesture of familiarizing the classics”. The “archive” and “repertoire” metaphors introduced in the title are intended to indicate the direction of changes in the manner of presenting the works from the past. Classics should be perceived not as texts from an archive, but as works from the repertoire which are being prepared for staging, i.e. for (re)reading.

Opis:: Anthropological concept of rites the passage in the sphere of pre-school education was applied in the paper. In the case of the ritual of appointing as preschool child one faces specific ritual as regards the place in which it takes place (kindergarten institution) and persons to which it is applied (children at the age of 3 and 4). The aim of a ceremony is socialization of an individual and integration with a group in the first place. Rites of passage share with the analyzed preschool ritual such features as rigid role scheme, structure of a ceremony of ritual actions, functions of a ritual, and the fact that by this ritual integration and cohesion of a group is maintained and the children’s bound with kindergarten workers is augmented. Although the ceremony of appointing as preschool child does not change the status of an individual, it performs important role related to role playing, international functions and the functions set on auto-identification of a child (that stem from group activity). Moreover, by the ceremony the youngest children can show their parents that they learn new abilities, partly different than the ones they experience at their homes. Methodological approach used in the study can be labeled as participant secret observation, close to the “participant-as-observer” category. The ceremony was observed in one of kindergartens in Toruń, in 26 children group, labeled as “Ladybirds”. Field observation was completed, firstly, by the photographic documentation (done during the ritual), secondly, by the ritual scenario (written by the kindergarten teachers), and thirdly, by the interview with the tutor of the observed group of children.

Opis:: In 2023, the Rev. Cardinal Franciszek Macharski Archdiocesan Music School in Krakow celebrates its 25th anniversary. The present article discusses the history of the institu[1]tion – the activities of the Archdiocesan Organist Study Centre, from which the jubilarian school originated, the circumstances of the creation of the Archdiocesan Organist School in 1998 and the expansion of its activities in 2006 to the Archdiocesan Primary and Sec[1]ondary School of Music. Through the analysis of documents from the school’s archives, the prospects for the development of students and the activities of teachers are presented. The enormous role in the history of the school played by three people is also outlined – Prof. Wiesław Delimat, the school’s founder and headmaster, Rev. Prof. Robert Tyrała, the current Rector of the Pontifical University of John Paul II in Krakow, and above all Rev. Cardinal Franciszek Macharski, patron and good spirit of Archdiocesan Music School

Opis:: Legal and financial regulations were implemented by Polish authorities to provide equal opportunities for children and adolescents attending public schools. Despite these regulations covert unofficial enrolment procedure practiced by some public primary schools may seriously conflict with equal opportunity policy. Therefore the study aim was to compare school divisions’ educational outcomes as to answer the question if recruitment procedures segregated pupils into more / less beneficial settings. The analyses conducted in the study demonstrate that there are different outcomes in divisions at the same educational level. The study is specifically dedicated to practitioners and educational authorities.
Polskie władze wdrożyły regulacje prawno-finansowe, aby zapewnić równe szanse dzieciom i młodzieży uczęszczającym do szkół publicznych. Pomimo tych przepisów tajna, nieoficjalna procedura zapisów praktykowana przez niektóre publiczne szkoły podstawowe może poważnie stać w sprzeczności z polityką równych szans. Dlatego też celem badania było porównanie wyników edukacyjnych oddziałów szkół, aby odpowiedzieć na pytanie, czy procedury rekrutacyjne segregują uczniów do mniej lub bardziej korzystnych środowisk. Z przeprowadzonych w badaniu analiz wynika, że w oddziałach na tym samym poziomie kształcenia występują różne wyniki. Badanie jest adresowane w szczególności do praktyków i władz oświatowych.

Opis:: In the paper we present partial results of comprehensive research, which focused on attitudinal and behavioral attributes sexuality of people with intellectual disabilities and their socio-cultural and ethical contexts using selected items of us compiled questionnaire sexuality and sexual education of students with intellectual disabilities. Opis:: Edukacja wczesnoszkolna, mimo zachodzących powoli zmian, to wciąż etap zdominowany przez transmisyjny model nauczania oparty na nauczycielskim przekazie gotowych treści. Wprowadzenie do codziennych zajęć rzeczywistej intelektualnej aktywności uczniów nie wydaje się tak trudne i obciążające, jak to czasem deklarują nauczyciele. Można np. zacząć od wyrównania proporcji w zakresie stosowanych metod (opartych głównie na aktywności nauczyciela i na aktywności uczniów), a przy tym postawić na zadania będące wyzwaniami dla uczniów.
Despite slow developments, early primary education is still dominated by the transmission model of teaching, based on content-oriented teaching. Educators are expected to change their approach to learning and teaching, and to trigger the genuine intellectual activity of students. There are many available methods of doing it. It is recommended to begin with the rebalancing of methods, increasing student-centered ones and focusing on challenging tasks for students.

Opis:: Artykuł jest poświęcony uczniowskim postawom wobec literatury pięknej obecnej na lekcjach języka polskiego. Skupiono się na tych elementach budujących owe postawy, które wynikają z rozbieżności między doświadczeniami czytelniczymi zdobywanymi poza szkolnymi obowiązkami a czytaniem w ich ramach. Wykorzystano wyniki badania czytelnictwa dzieci i młodzieży, szczególnie posłużono się analizami wyników jakościowego etapu – 48 wywiadów indywidualnych przeprowadzonych wśród uczniów kończących naukę w szkole podstawowej i gimnazjum. W artykule są sformułowane zalecenia dla dydaktyki polonistycznej sugerujące strategie dydaktyczne sprzyjające rozbudzaniu u uczniów motywacji czytelniczych, szczególnie motywacji wewnętrznych.
The paper reviews the students’ attitudes towards literature present on polish language lessons. It focused on the components forming these attitudes, which come from antinomies between reading experiences in leisure time and compulsory school reading. The paper is based on the results of the study on children and young people readership, particularly the results of qualitative stage of that research: 48 IDI (Individual In-depth Interviews) with students at the end of education in primary school and lower secondary school. There are put some tips for teachers of Polish language and literature supporting them in evoking students reading motivations, specially intrinsic ones.

Opis:: Niniejszy artykuł przedstawia analizę nowo powstających polskich szkół, a jego celem jest określenie najważniejszych tendencji i problemów projektowych w kontekście wysokich oczekiwań stawianym obiektom dla najmłodszych użytkowników. Analiza wykonana została w oparciu o dane źródłowe (materiały projektowe) i obejmowała badania układu funkcjonalnego budynku oraz lokalizacji obiektu w odniesieniu do jednostki osadniczej. W rezultacie udało się zidentyfikować kilka tendencji dominujących w projektach oraz elementy występujące tylko w pojedynczych przypadkach. Na ich podstawie można zdefiniować wnioski charakteryzujące architekturę nowo powstających szkół, wskazując mocne strony opracowań oraz elementy, które należałoby brać pod uwagę w przygotowywaniu przyszłych projektów szkół w kontekście dzisiejszego podejścia do projektowania. Bezsprzecznie jakość przestrzeni oraz architektury analizowanych obiektów reprezentuje wysoki poziom. Pozostają jednak obszary, w których wiele można zrobić, aby architektura współczesnych polskich szkół jeszcze lepiej odpowiadała wymogom zmieniających się uwarunkowań społeczno-gospodarczych.
This article presents an analysis of newly established Polish schools and its aim is to identify the most important trends and design problems in the context of high expectations for facilities for the youngest users. The analysis was based on source data (design materials) and included an analysis of the functional layout of the building and the location of the facility in relation to the settlement unit. As a result, it was possible to identify several trends dominating projects and elements occurring only in individual cases. On their basis, it is possible to define conclusions characterizing the architecture of newly created schools, indicating the strengths of the studies and elements that should be taken into account in the preparation of future school projects in the context of today's approach to design. Undoubtedly, the quality of the space and architecture of the analysed objects is on a high level. However, there are still areas where much can be done to make the architecture of contemporary Polish schools to even better meet the requirements of the changing socio-economic conditions.

Opis:: The article deals with different attitudes parents have toward learning foreign languages in primary school. The main goal of the research was to determine the attitudes of parents towards learning foreign languages and whether there is a difference in their opinions depending on their level of education. The research was conducted on a group of parents of ninth-grade pupils attending Slovene primary schools (N = 200). Based on the results of our study, we found that the attitudes of parents towards learning foreign languages are fairly positive. A detailed analysis of the results, however, shows that there are differences in the attitudes of parents depending on the level of their education. Higher educated parents are more inclined to support learning foreign languages than parents with a lower level of education.

Opis:: Significant curricular reform took place in the Slovak republic in September 2008, resulting in a new two-level curriculum. However, not all of the standards established have proved helpful to teachers, schools, parents or students, either in relation to the achievement of positive educational goals or when it comes to providing support for the evaluation of students. Therefore, the National Institute for Education has created a new committee of experts for areas in education, whose task has been to review the existing educational standards and propose new ones. Technical studies are a part of our culture and have even become the driving force of our times, so schools should allow all of their pupils to undergo proper acculturation in this area. Technical education is, moreover, considered an important part of the process of educating young people. It may count as preparation for a future career, and, in many cases, has real applications in the labour market. The author of this paper was responsible for creating new educational standards for technical education at primary schools. The concept of technical education employed here is based on general cultural literacy, with scientific and technical literacy viewed as a fixed element within this. In the current paper, the author wants to introduce the principles that define the new conception of technical education at primary-school level in Slovakia, both in terms of its contents and in terms of its character as a process. Within the process of learning, a great deal of attention is paid to the personality of the pupil. The article states the main principles of learning, acquired from personal teaching experience. This new conception of technical education will be in force from September 2015 at all schools in the Slovak Republic.
Dla Republiki Słowackiej istotne znaczenie miała przeprowadzona we wrześniu 2008 roku reforma programowa, która wyodrębniła nowe dwupoziomowe programy nauczania. Wobec braku ich akceptacji ze strony nauczycieli, rodziców i uczniów Narodowy Instytut Edukacji utworzył nowy komitet ekspertów dla obszarów edukacji, którego zadaniem była ocena istniejących standardów edukacyjnych i zaproponowanie nowych. Nauki techniczne, o których mowa w niniejszym artykule, stanowią część naszej kultury i dlatego też szkoły powinny umożliwić wszystkim uczniom przejście odpowiedniej akulturacji w tej dziedzinie. Edukację techniczną uważa się za bardzo ważny obszar w procesie edukacyjnym. Autorka tego artykułu był odpowiedzialna za stworzenie nowych norm edukacyjnych dla edukacji technicznej w słowackich szkołach podstawowych. Zastosowana koncepcja edukacji technicznej oparta została na ogólnej znajomości kultury, gdzie nauka i technika postrzegane są jako jej stałe elementy. Autorka przedstawiła zasady funkcjonowania nowej koncepcji edukacji technicznej na poziomie szkoły podstawowej w Słowacji pod względem jej struktury, charakteru oraz sposobów realizacji. W procesie edukacyjnym dużo uwagi poświęca się kształtowaniu wszechstronnej osobowości ucznia. Artykuł wyznacza główne zasady uczenia się wypracowane poprzez własne doświadczenia w nauczaniu tego obszaru. Prezentowana nowa koncepcja nauczania technicznego zostanie wprowadzona w życie we wrześniu 2015 roku we wszystkich szkołach na terenie Słowacji.

Opis:: The issue of children’s health safety in early education is often disregarded in re-search and literature and this article attempts to emphasize the importance of this sub-ject in the context of the quality of life of younger generation. As school and home environment are foundations of child’s upbringing and education, the undertaken research was based on school influences and we have asked the Pedagogy students from University in Bielsko-Biała to acknowledge and explain the aspect of children’s health safety on this ground. Future teachers should have a wide knowledge of this subject and have the ability to create awareness of this matter amongst their pupils. The carried out research is a ground to undertake further analysis as the case of health safety plays a huge part of widely understood public health and has a great impact on the whole young generation.

Opis:: The professionalism and competence of quality teaching practice in higher education institutions is becoming more significant since they try to respond to an increasingly diverse and perceptive student commu-nity’s issues concerning standards and quality in the global context. In the past several decades there are growing appeals for innovative re-search-based pedagogy that designs relationship-centred education as well as provides cutting edge professional development of the 21st cen-tury educators. The aim of our research is to further extend current knowledge of “student engagement” as a core aim of the NUS paradigm for the future of Ukraine’s higher education. The research has provided evidence for embedded sustainable partnership in the NUS that will sus-tain a strong sense of community among teachers and students. The key to achieving the development of such partnership learning communities are traced in NUS formula and its nine key elements are seen to encour-age their development. In order to identify and build a conceptual model for PoP in the NUS, the author of the given research attempted to map the territory of the primary school. The paper has led us to conclude the PoP, in our opinion, provides an opportunity to provide conditions for the development of the student’s creative personality, the implementa-tion of the tasks of the concept of the NUS, the creation of positive moti-vation of students for educational and cognitive activities, the need for self-knowledge, self-realization and self-improvement, the introduction of a modern approach to constructing a lesson, creating optimal condi-tions for developing the student’s creative abilities at lessons, developing social and civic competencies of the student.

Opis:: Artykuł prezentuje problematykę kształcenia nauczycieli edukacji elementarnej w Danii w oparciu o analizę dostępnej literatury, ra- porty Eurydice oraz dane pochodzące ze strony duńskiego Minister- stwa Dzieci i Edukacji. Autor, oprócz przedstawienia ogólnego zarysu funkcjonowania duńskiego systemu edukacji, nakreśla jego główne cechy. W opisie szkolnictwa podstawowego szczególnie uwzględniono etap edukacji elementarnej. Dominującym celem pracy jest zilustrowanie systemu kształcenia nauczycieli szkół podstawowych wraz z alternatywnymi ścieżkami uzyskania kwalifikacji. Wyniki prowadzonych analiz wskazują na to, że duński system kształcenia nauczycieli jest elitarny, skuteczny oraz zorientowany na wiedzę i umiejętności przyszłego nauczyciela, który w świadomy i odpowiedzialny sposób dba o osiągnięcia i dobre samopoczucie dziecka. Ponadto w tekście nawiązano do tytułowej bohaterki duńskiego serialu telewizyjnego Rita, który stał się inspiracją do napisania tej pracy.
The aim of this article is to study and reflect on the way of training elementary education teachers in Denmark. The analysis is based on the review of available books, Eurydice reports, as well as the data included in the website of the Danish Ministry of Children and Education. The author managed to present not only the general perspective on the Danish education system, but also its key features. In the description of elementary education, the stage of early school education was particularly taken into account. The author of the article mainly intended to present the system of educating teachers working in primary schools, along with the alternative paths to obtain such qualifications. The results of the analyses indicate that the Danish teacher education and training system is elitist, efficient and focused on thorough knowledge and skills of a future teacher who, in a conscious and responsible manner, cares about the child’s achievements and wellbeing. Moreover, the author of the article refers to the protagonist of the popular Danish TV series entitled Rita, which became the inspiration for writing this work.
