    Opis:
    The procedures and criteria used in a promotion processes of scientific workers have recently been the subject of spirited debates and disputes. The aim of the present study is to explain and discuss the organizational and legal conditions of the postdoctoral process. Particular attention has been paid to the criteria of the evaluation of candidates' academic achievements. Firstly, the theoretical aspects of the issues raised are discussed (with reference to the particular legal acts). The following part of the article presents the most significant observations and conclusions which result from the research in the discussed topic area.

    Opis:
    The aim of this article is to introduce the activities of museums and collections located in the structure of Polish higher education institutions. The analysis is based on concrete examples of academic units operating today. The authors distinguish several categories of museums according to their location, among them university and departmental museums. The second criterion is the organisational formula, in which the authors indicate, apart from museums, also centres and history interpretation units. Using archaeological, medical and natural history collections as examples, they describe similarities and differences in the way they work with resources. The article is also an attempt to start a discourse aimed at drawing attention to the potential lying in such units, the mission and duty of which is to preserve, secure, develop and make available for scientific and didactic purposes the heritage of the university and the history of science. The authors also refer to the legal situation of the university museum units and regulations, which the organisers may use when creating and conducting activities related to the collection and processing of tangible and intangible academic heritage, which is part of the world’s scientific heritage.

    Resorting to the example of the Jagiellonian University (UJ), the Author discusses the topic of the bodies that are guardians of academic heritage within the structure of public tertiary education. In the first part of the paper the distinction between a museum and a collection is introduced, and the brief profiles of selected units of the Jagiellonian University are provided. In the next section definite examples are given of conducting scientific processes in museums and collections. In the context of the new Law on Higher Education and Science amendments that appear in reference to university museums and collections are discussed. The collections of museum units curating the academic heritage stem from the fundamental activity of the Jagiellonian University consisting in education and conducting research. These units operate within the University structure, this confirmed in the Charter which the Constitution for Science has made the major document regulating the university internal system. The Charter of the Jagiellonian University as a university running 13 museum units has been analysed. The search for the concepts related to identity, academic heritage, and museums in the content of the Charter, resulted in the identification of a new category: units running ancillary activity of museum-like character.
    Artykuł odnosi się – na przykładzie Uniwersytetu Jagiellońskiego (UJ) – do tematyki dotyczącej jednostek opiekujących się dziedzictwem akademickim, które działają w strukturze publicznych szkół wyższych. Pierwsza część tekstu wprowadza rozróżnienie dwóch pojęć: muzeum i kolekcji oraz pokrótce charakteryzuje wybrane jednostki Uniwersytetu Jagiellońskiego. W dalszej części wskazane zostały, na konkretnych przykładach, możliwości uprawiania nauki w muzeach i kolekcjach. W kontekście nowej Ustawy – Prawo o szkolnictwie wyższym i nauce omówione zostały zmiany, jakie pojawiają się w odniesieniu do uczelnianych muzeów i kolekcji. Zbiory jednostek muzealnych opiekujących się dziedzictwem akademickim wywodzą się z podstawowej działalności UJ polegającej na kształceniu i prowadzeniu badań. Placówki te funkcjonują w strukturze Uniwersytetu, co znajduje potwierdzenie w statucie, który tzw. Konstytucja dla nauki uczyniła najważniejszym dokumentem regulującym ustrój wewnętrzny uczelni. Analizie poddano statut Uniwersytetu Jagiellońskiego jako uczelni prowadzącej 13 jednostek muzealnych. Poszukiwanie w treści statutu pojęć związanych z tożsamością, dziedzictwem akademickim i muzeami przyniosło wskazanie nowej kategorii – jednostek prowadzących działalność pomocniczą o charakterze muzealnym.
