Cette étude s’intéresse à la façon dont le travail de la mémoire est mis en scène dans l’œuvre de Michel Leiris. Dès sa première œuvre autobiographique, L’Âge d’homme, Leiris adopte une technique de composition novatrice, qui s’accompagne d’un développement considérable de son discours autobiographique, à travers lequel il se montre au travail. Mais cette inflation discursive n’est pas sans interroger, tant elle souligne que la remémoration est fatalement déformatrice, dans la mesure où elle reconstitue le passé à partir de la perspective actuelle du narrateur. Pourtant, à partir de La Règle du jeu, Leiris semble embrasser l’idée d’une libre réinvention de la mémoire. C’est qu’entre-temps, dans un texte de genèse intitulé L’Homme sans honneur, il a jeté les bases d’une réflexion originale sur la remémoration et l’écriture, qui anticipe sur les analyses ultérieures de Philippe Lejeune.
This study examines the mechanics of memory as depicted in the works of Michel Leiris. Already in his first autobiographical work, L’Âge d’homme, Leiris adopts an innovative compositional technique, which is accompanied by a considerable development of his autobiographical discourse, through which he shows himself at work. But this discursive inflation is not to be left unquestioned, as it emphasises that remembrance is inevitably distorting, insofar as it reconstitutes the past from the narrator’s own perspective. However, from La Règle du jeu onwards, Leiris seems to embrace the idea of a free reinvention of memory. This is because in the meantime, in a genesis text entitled L’Homme sans honneur, he has laid the foundations for an original reflection on recollection and writing, which anticipates Philippe Lejeune’s later analyses.

Technological development and the increasing role of the pictorial message in socio-cultural life significantlyimpact the individual’s perception of the external environment. The process of globalization in scientific literature is defined in a very varied way, first of all, because it is a complex, multi-dimensional and multiaspectual process. R. Robertson presents the most general and universal definition of globalization which nowadays has become the reference for formulating different definitions. According to him globalization is a set of processes which make the social world as one. A similar general formulation of this process can be found in A. Giddens’s writings – globalization is an intensification of world-wide social relations. The process of cultural globalization is proceeding before our eyes. We can observe and analyse it in every respect. However, until it lasts, it is hard to foresee what shape will take a predominant current of transformations in the contemporary culture. Today there is domination of the Western culture, particularly the American one. However, economists forecast that even in the first half of the 21st century the economies of China and India will become the world’s largest economies. Then, as it was already in the past, they will influence transformations occurring in culture in a significant way.

Narrative developments often stem from images in Dany Laferrière’s work. On the other hand, some of the narration in Laferrière’s fiction and nonfiction is synthesized in narrative snapshots that resemble descriptions. Temporal dimension plays a key role in this constant shift between image and imagination, because, as Didi-Huberman has shown, images carry an anachronistic element. This element also allows Laferrière and his narrators to use mainly simple present tense, even when the content of the narration is set in the past. Nevertheless, images are never explained or rationalized in Laferrière’s work, which keeps the mystery and ambiguity that characterize visual representations.

The Net Present Value (NPV) rule is a base of modern finance theory. The classical definition of NPV is based on unrealistic assumptions: it treats the discount rate as a deterministic and constant function. The above fact may lead to some situations when the classical NPV may mark the wrong direction of investing. Moreover, the deterministic formula makes the measurement of risk impossible - we can not estimate the probability of obtaining any values of NPV. In this paper we consider a stochastic, general definition of Net Present Value. We propose the method of measurement of risk in case of using the stochastic definition. The risk is identified with probability, that stochastic process NPV(t), starting from a negative and real point B(0) (initial investment), will not leave the interval (-∞,0) before end of the project (T). Presented considerations lead to Pontriagin's differential equation and its solution is the mentioned probability.
Metoda Aktualnej Wartości Netto (NPV) jest filarem nowoczesnej teorii finansów. Klasyczna definicja NPV opiera się na nierealistycznych założeniach: zakłada chociażby stały czasie i deterministyczny charakter stopy dyskontowej. Prowadzi to do sytuacji, w których jej stosowanie wyznacza błędne kierunki inwestowania. Ponadto jej deterministyczna formuła nie rozwala mierzyć ryzyka lub też inaczej - szansy uzyskania konkretnej wartości NPV. W niniejszej pracy rozważać będziemy stochastyczną, ogólną definicję Aktualnej Wartości Netto. Zaproponowana będzie pewna metoda pomiaru ryzyka w przypadku stosowania tej definicji. Ryzyko utożsamione zostanie z prawdopodobieństwem, że stochastyczny proces NPV(t), startując z pewnego ujemnego, rzeczywistego punktu B(0) (nakład inicjujący projekt) co końca czasu trwania projektu (T), nie wydostanie się z przedziału (-∞, 0). Rozważania nad rym prawdopodobieństwem doprowadzą do równania różniczkowego Pontriagina, którego rozwiązaniem będzie wspomniane prawdopodobieństwo.

The paper considers gender assignment of deverbal nouns, originally present participles, in Swedish. The perspective is diachronic. The corpus consists of a choice of Swedish texts from 1225-1732. The results show that nouns denoting entities ranking higher in the Animacy hierarchy show tendencies to be placed in the utrum gender (originally masculine and feminine genders) and nouns denoting mass, collective or abstract referents to be assigned neuter gender. This tendency is visible throughout the history of the Swedish language.

The paper presents the results of quantitative research using the diagnostic poll method, carried out as part of an international project which involved 440 teacher students from the Polish-Belarusian borderland. The research focused on self-assessed level of information management, team work skills, and recognition of one’s own time perspective. The text only refers to one aspect of the competence, i.e., attitude to time. The findings show that the participants function in three temporal dimensions. The majority of the respondents are future-oriented. More than half of them sometimes waste time doing something meaningless. The vast majority of the students act upon the belief that what will happen to them in the future only depends on their effort, but many also declare a fatalistic attitude to life and the belief they have made wrong decisions in the past. In the article, we suggest the need to equip young people with instruments allowing them to create themselves, their lives and the world around them in the context of the foresight concept.

Opis:
The cash flows of an investment project are influenced by several factors. All the factors influencing fuzzy net present value of a project should be taken into account, together with their variability, in order to analyze the whole project, and to make the best decisions during the project’s life. In this paper a fuzzy global sensitivity analysis method is proposed for fuzzy net present value to determine the influences of the factors on the worth of an investment project. The results of the proposed method for an application are also interpreted.

It is widely considered that Polish does not possess the Present Perfect, and that it represents a challenge to those teaching Polish learners of English. From a teaching perspective, the question arises of what a Polish learner of English perceives when they read/hear a Present Perfect sentence. The research presented here attempts to answer that question, but with a focus on the universal Present Perfect. A questionnaire was developed to measure the perception of the English universal present perfect’s two defining features: its incompleteness and its continuability. The questionnaire was completed by Polish learners of English and a group of British native speakers. The hypotheses were: 1. Incompleteness/continuability would be perceived in the universal present perfect, 2. that lower proficiency learners would perceive incompleteness/continuability at a lower rate and perception would increase with proficiency, and 3. British native speakers would have the highest level of perception. The results show that the incompleteness/continuability of the universal present perfect are perceived. While perception decreases with lower proficiency learners, British native speakers did not have the highest levels of perception. The next step is to develop a pedagogy which focuses on perception-based teaching and carry out an experiment to analyse its efficacy.
Powszechnie uważa się, że język polski nie posiada czasu Present Perfect, co stanowi wyzwanie dla osób uczących Polaków języka angielskiego. Z perspektywy dydaktycznej pojawia się pytanie, co postrzega polski uczący się języka angielskiego, gdy czyta/słyszy zdanie z Present Perfect. Przedstawione tu badania próbują odpowiedzieć na to pytanie, ale koncentrują się na uniwersalnym czasie Present Perfect. Opracowano kwestionariusz, aby zmierzyć percepcję dwóch cech definiujących angielski Universal Present Perfect: jego niekompletności i jego ciągłości. Ankietę wypełnili Polacy uczący się języka angielskiego oraz grupa brytyjskich native speakerów. Hipotezy były następujące: 1. Niekompletność/ciągłość jest postrzegana jako cecha uniwersalnego czasu Present Perfect, 2. uczący się o niższych umiejętnościach postrzegają niekompletność/ciągłość w mniejszym stopniu, a percepcja wzrasta wraz z biegłością, oraz 3. brytyjscy rodzimi użytkownicy języka mają najwyższy poziom percepcji. Wyniki pokazują, że niekompletność/ciągłość uniwersalnego czasu Present Perfect jest postrzegana. Chociaż percepcja spada u uczniów o niższych umiejętnościach, brytyjscy rodzimi użytkownicy języka nie wykazują najwyższego poziomu percepcji. Następnym krokiem będzie opracowanie metody, która skupia się na nauczaniu opartym na percepcji i przeprowadzenie eksperymentu analizującego jej skuteczność.

Block caving is an underground mining technique which extracts ore from the base, rather than from the top, of typically massive deposits. Mining infrastructure is developed below the deposit before extraction commences. A network of tunnels provides access to a collection of drawpoints from which ore is mucked and hauled. With large deposits, not all drawpoints are developed simultaneously and the opening of drawpoints is sequenced to facilitate orderly extraction of ore columns above drawpoints. Sequencing fixes the initiation point for the entire block cave, or a part of it, as well as identifying the direction of cave advancement. The sequence of opening drawpoints influences the mine economics and is an integral aspect of planning a block cave mine. This paper discusses the optimisation of sequencing based on the net present value associated with extraction over the life-of-mine. It is shown that the maximum attainable net present value is obtained by a sequence in which ore columns are ranked in descending order of value. If significant variation of grade is present inside columns, an iterative procedure is given which corrects the sequence which yields the maximum net present value. The sequence with maximum net present value may not be practical or attractive from a caving perspective. Systematic design of sequences which permit orderly development of a block cave is discussed. To provide context, the net present value obtained from these feasible sequences is compared with the maximum attainable net present value. It is shown that the best feasible sequences in terms of net present value are preferentially initiated in zones with columns of high-grade ore.
