    Christ expressed Himself essentially in His priesthood through which He had redeemed mankind and become the principle of the economy of salvation. This priesthood realised the primitive paradigm of religion that consists in the relationship: God-man and man-God. Christ established the most ultimate and the most perfect bond between God and man, and between man and God: God-man in one person. It is in Christ’s priesthood that priests (bishops and presbyters) participate in a sacramental manner; the faithful participate in it in a broad sense. The two kinds of priesthood stem from one and the same source, from the priesthood of Jesus Christ, and they should coexist, but the hierarchic priesthood is superior and normative. It is in the priesthood that the whole man is expressed and fulfilled on the model of Jesus Christ.

    Opis:
    In the First Letter of St. Paul as in John's Apocalypse, there exists a very elear tendency to link the universal priesthood of Christians with the concept of dignity of the Kingdom. This joining points out that even the universal priesthood ought to be understood prlmarily as the highest honor and distinction for Christians. This results from the direct closeness of God, similar to that which in the cult of the Old Covenant was reserved only for priests. As a result of Redemption, it became on the other band a participation of all baptized without exception. This closeness is for man the privilege comparable with royal dignity, and so the highest that man can reach. It is also an expression of the great love of God to man and that is why it comprises the challenge to the highest perfection and sanctity of life. The universal priesthood, which is a privilege of all the baptized, certainly must not be mistaken with the sacramental priesthood, set for the special service among the people of God. The above analyzed texts from the First Letter of St. Peter and John's Apocalypse do not contain teachings on this topic.

    Im ersten Teil der Studie wird die Grundlage für die Beteiligung von Nichtordinierten an der Evangelisch-Augsburgischen (Lutherischen) Kirche in Polen in Form des reformatorischen Konzepts des allgemeinen Priestertums aller Gläubigen/aller Getauften dargestellt. Im zweiten Teil behandelt die Studie die praktische Beteiligung von Nichtordinierten an der Praxis der Lutherischen Kirche in Polen in den Bereichen: individuelle Frömmigkeit, Kirchenverwaltung, Teilnahme an seelsorgerischen und liturgischen Aktivitäten.
    Celem niniejszego artykułu jest przedstawienie sposobów realizacji powszechnego kapłaństwa w Kościele luterańskim w Polsce. Opracowanie w pierwszej części prezentuje podstawy zaangażowania osób nieordynowanych w Kościele Ewangelicko-Augsburskim (Luterańskim) w Polsce w postaci reformacyjnej koncepcji powszechnego kapłaństwa wszystkich wierzących/wszystkich ochrzczonych. W drugiej części omawia zaś praktyczne zaangażowanie osób nieordynowanych w praktyce Kościoła Ewangelicko-Augsburskiego w Polsce w obszarach: indywidualnej pobożności, zarządzania Kościołem, udziału w aktywnościach duszpasterskich i liturgicznych.
    The purpose of this study is to present the ways in which the universal priesthood is realised in the Lutheran Church in Poland. The first part presents the basics of the involvement of unordained people in the Evangelical Church of Augsburg Confession (Lutheran) in Poland in form of the reformational concept of the universal priesthood of all believers / all baptized. The second part discusses the practical involvement of people who are not ordained in the practice of the Evangelical Church of Augsburg Confession in Poland in the areas of: individual piety, church management, participation in pastoral and liturgical activities.

    Od Soboru Watykańskiego II Kościół jest rozumiany jako sakrament zbawienia i jedności ludzi między sobą i z Bogiem. Jego trzy istotne cechy: martyria, diakonia i liturgia, ukazują i urzeczywistniają tę sakramentalność Kościoła, które stale uwzględniają społeczne i religijne uwarunkowania. W odróżnieniu od sytuacji Kościoła jako większości, w warunkach diaspory niezbędne są szczególne środki wyrazu fundamentalnej postawy diakonijnej: samozrozumienie jako „twórczej mniejszości”.
    The Church is and must be the sacrament of salvation and the sacrament of the unity of mankind among each other and with God. The three dimensions martyria, diakonia and liturgia illustrate the sacramentality of the church, which continuously takes into consideration the precise social andreligious conditions of Christians. In contrast to the life of the Church, in the position of majority, the religious Diaspora may on the other hand require particular forms which are principally concerned with a “diaconic” attitude of Christians living as a “creative minority”.

    The last Ratio Fundamentalis Institutionis Sacerdotalis was published in1970 and updated in 1985. In the meantime, and particularly under the effectof the rapid changes in the modern world, the historical, socio-cultural andecclesial contexts have changed, in which the priest is called to make manifest the mission of Christ and the Church. This has also led to significantchanges in related matters: the image or the view of the priest, the spiritualneeds of the People of God, the challenges of the new evangelisation, andthe languages of communication, to name just a few. In this situation, it seemed that priestly formation needed to be relaunched, renewed and returned to the centre. On 8 December 2016, therefore, the Congregation for the Clergy published the new Ratio Fundamentalis Institutionis Sacerdotalis,a tool for the formation of priests. It has taken up the contents, methods andapproaches presented so far in the field of formation, updating them andintroducing new elements. The document restates the guidelines offeredin the Apostolic Exhortation Pastores Dabo Vobis regarding an integratedformation of seminarians. In this formation, the formators and professors arecalled to demonstrate the close relationship between theology, the spirituallife and the pastoral ministry. This is so in order that the candidate for thepriesthood might become a good shepherd of the People of God and havea compassionate and merciful heart like Christ.

    Autor podejmuje kwestię kapłaństwa w Apokalipsie św. Jana, w której trzykrotnie mówi się o kapłaństwie chrześcijańskim (1,6; 5,9; 20,6). Punktem wyjścia artykułu jest analiza tekstu Ap 1,6, w którym zgromadzona wspólnota wyraża swoją godność kapłańską, przeżywaną na sposób kapłaństwa Jezusa Chrystusa. Chrześcijanie wspólnoty liturgicznej muszą odpowiedzieć, w jaki sposób realizuje się ich kapłaństwo. Czynią to poprzez refleksję nad orędziem Apokalipsy w świetle Starego Testamentu. W kontekście Wj 19,4-6 odkrywają, iż znajdują się w miejscu, w którym konkretyzuje się panowanie Boga objawione historycznie w misterium paschalnym Jezusa. Rozpoznając panowanie Boga, wspólnota mu się poddaje poprzez realizację swego kapłaństwa. Ta służba kapłańska urzeczywistnia się w miłości, kulcie chrześcijańskim i w pójściu za Chrystusem, które kulminuje w męczeństwie. Poprzez męczeństwo chrześcijanie dają świadectwo panowaniu Boga w świecie.

    The article “Christian initiation in the liturgy of funeral” shows the connection of promises, which man receives in the first sacraments, with their fulfilment in the moment of biological death. Hope takes the first place here. The element which connects both poles of human life is also water used in the liturgy of baptism and funeral. Paschal candle – the symbol of resurrected Christ also accompanies these celebrations. The source and the peak of the sacrificial feast shows fulfilling the pastoral function of Christ during the earthly liturgy and its full realization at the moment of death, because it means sacrificing life. Taking from patristic thought, we can also detect some similarity between baptistery and a grave. As a consequence, the colour of liturgical vestment during the funeral should be white, because it refers to the white robe from the sacrament of baptism. In the conclusion we are given the juxtaposition of biblical texts, which are identical, and which appear during the funeral, baptism and confirmation.

    The approval that was expressed after the Vatican Council II had reintroduced common prayer, confirmed its significant role in the liturgy of the Holy Mass. In the article an analysis is made of common prayer as the prayer of the faithful. The roots of common prayer and its development in the first centuries are shown. It has always had the character of the prayer of the faithful – said by the christened ones; sometimes penitents were not admitted to it. Along with the decline of the catechumenate, part of the intentions of the prayer of the faithful were taken over by the Gelasian litany ad introitum, which was then reduced to the phrase Kyrie eleison. Other calls of common prayer have found their equivalents as intercessory prayers in the canon of the Holy Mass. Relics of common prayer were preserved in the form of “prayers after the sermon”. The lack of common prayer in the Holy Mass gave rise to its substitutes in folk religiousness. The post-Council liturgy shows common prayer as a prayer actualizing the faithful’s universal priesthood. The rites in the missal, emphasizing the role of the priest who directs the prayer, at the same time raise the status of the participation of the deacon and the laity in them. The author of the article also cites some liturgists who considered common prayer a separate part of the Holy Mass between the liturgy of the word and the liturgy of the Eucharist. Other liturgists distinguish the liturgy of love in the Holy Mass that consists of common prayer and preparation of the offertory – the spiritual and material gifts. Although these conceptions have not been accepted, they shed important light on the essence of common prayer. A careful and profound preparation of common prayer is an important task for liturgical formation.

    Kardynał Joseph Ratzinger, rozwijając tzw. tzw. communio-eklezjologię (Communio-Ekklesiologie), wskazywał, że „Kościół nie powinien mówić głównie o sobie, lecz o Bogu”. Mając w perspektywie to założenie metodologiczne, będziemy chcieli w niniejszym artykule wydobyć z licznych pism kard. Josepha Ratzingera, obecnie papieża-seniora Benedykta XVI, istotę jego nauczania o Kościele jako communio oraz zobaczyć, jakie znaczenie ma ten obraz Kościoła dla duszpasterskiej praxis, szczególnie w kontekście posług i uczestnictwa świeckich w liturgii, zwłaszcza w polskiej rzeczywistości duszpasterskiej. Pierwsza część artykułu ukazuje fundamenty nauczania Ratzingera o Kościele rozumianym jako communio. W drugim punkcie możemy zobaczyć, poprzez jakie zadania/posługi świeccy uczestniczą w jednym kapłaństwie Chrystusa, aby w punkcie trzecim została ukazana Ratzingerowska krytyka praktycystycznego rozumienia aktywnego uczestnictwa (participatio actuosa) świeckich w liturgii. W ostatnim punkcie zostały wydobyte wnioski dla kształtowania i rozumienia posług w konkretnym duszpasterstwie parafialnym, gdzie istotne są słowa zapisane przez samego Ratzingera: „Należyte wychowanie do liturgii powinno polegać nie na uczeniu się czynności zewnętrznych i ćwiczeniu się do nich, lecz na włączaniu się w konstytutywną dla liturgii istotę actio, czyli w przemieniającą moc Boga, która przez pośrednictwo akcji liturgicznej pragnie przemieniać nas samych i świat”. Tam, gdzie praktycyzm staje się ważniejszy od teologii, tam Kościół rozumiany jako wspólnota zbawienia staje się co najwyżej instytucją z bogatą ofertą usług religijnych.
    Developing the so-called communio-ecclesiology (Communio-Ekklesiologie), Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger pointed out that “the Church should not speak mainly about itself, but about God.” Bearing in mind this methodological assumption, the author of this article is going to analyse numerous writings by Card. Joseph Ratzinger—at present Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI, in order to present the essence of his teaching about the Church as communio and to see what such image of the Church means to the priests’ praxis, especially in terms of the laity’s ministry and participation in the liturgy in the Polish pastoral reality. The first part of the article presents Ratzinger’s fundamental teachings about the Church understood as communio. In the second part, one can find out about the tasks/ministries through which lay people may participate in Christ’s only priesthood. Ratzinger’s criticism on perceiving the laity’s active participation (participatio actuosa) in the liturgy as having only a practical dimension is presented in the third part of the article. The last part includes conclusions for shaping and understanding ministries in particular churches, supported by the words written by Ratzinger himself: “Proper education for liturgy should not consist in learning and practising external acts, but in joining the essence of action, i.e. the transforming power of God, which is constitutive for the liturgy and, through liturgical action, wants to transform us and the surrounding world.” Where practical issues become more important than theology, the Church viewed as the community of salvation becomes, at the most, an institution offering a rich variety of religious services.

    Problematyka diakonatu stanowi jedną z kwestii teologicznych, które nadal wymagają głębokiej refleksji. Dyskusja na ten temat powraca, chociaż zmierzając w różnych, często przeciwnych kierunkach. Zmiany w Kodeksie prawa kanonicznego wprowadzone przez dokument Benedykta XVI Omnium in mentem nie dotyczą tylko samej kwestii diakonatu. Interwencja papieska w prawo kanoniczne przyczyniła się nie tylko do ponownego odczytania ostatniego Soboru w kwestii diakonatu, ale także wszystkich trzech stopni sakramentu święceń (różnic między nimi i sakramentalnego charakteru). Innym aspektem jest kapłaństwo powszechne i kapłaństwo służebne, relacja i różnice pomiędzy nimi. Wyznaczenie przez papieża Benedykta XVI kierunku do pogłębionej refleksji doprowadziło nas do tezy, iż diakonat, mimo że stanowi pierwszy stopień sakramentu święceń, nie włącza jeszcze do kapłaństwa hierarchicznego, a przez to diakon nadal uczestniczy w kapłaństwie powszechnym.
    The problem of the diaconate is one of the theological issues that still require a lot of reflection. The discussion on this topic returns, although often in different, often opposite directions. The changes to the Code of Canon Law introduced by the motu proprio of Benedict XVI Omnium in mentem do not only concern the issue of diaconate. The papal intervention into canon law contributed to the rereading of the last council regarding the diaconate, but also all three degrees of the sacrament of Orders (the differences between them and the sacramental character). Another aspect is the universal priesthood and the ministerial priesthood, the relationship and the differences between them. The direction for deeper reflection by Pope Benedict XVI led us to the thesis that the diaconate, although constituting the first degree of the sacrament of Holy Orders, does not yet include it in the hierarchical priesthood, and thus the deacon still participates in the common priesthood.

    In this article, which deals with the office of ministry in the Roman Catholic Church’s dialogue with the Evangelical Reformed Church, the author states that the Church is based in her activities on the mission of Jesus as well as on the power of the Holy Spirit and living the faith of the first apostles she preserves her apostolic nature. The analysis of dialogue documents shows that the common priesthood of the baptized does not mean that there are no special features which, within the Church, are exercised by the representatives of a particular office, entrusted with the ministry of Word and sacrament. It was stressed that the liturgical validity of the act of ordination provides the epiclesis of the Holy Spirit during the laying on of hands on the newly ordained by a group of clergy. The Catholics and Reformed point to difficult issues such as apostolic succession, although their views on its significance remain divergent. It is highlighted that the fundamental structure of the Church and ecclesial authority are collective in nature, which in the Reformed tradition is reflected in the synodal system of church government and in the Roman-Catholic confession is fulfilled in the College of Bishops. The both denominations have also confirmed the existence of the fundamental structure of the office of bishop, priest and deacon, having its origins in apostolic times. The Catholics and Reformed emphasize the need of episkopé on the local, regional and global levels and at the same time they note some differences regarding who, on each of these levels, can be considered as episkopos and what his function is to be. It is also pointed out that according to the doctrine of the Catholic Church, each ordained acts in persona Christi, and his office consists of the ministry of the sent who acts on behalf of the Saviour in the service of the Word of God.

    Opis:
    Holy water can help lay people in their pursuit of sainthood. It remindsthem about the sacrament of baptism and encourages to be grateful to Godfor such a great gift, to feel joy and pride in being Christian. It helps to prepare for the Eucharist and raises awareness God’s presence. Through holywater God absolves the venial sins when we use it in the spirit of remorse.This water constitutes an element of the blessing which is given by parentsto their children on the basis of priesthood arising from the mystery ofbaptism. It plays an important role in the Christian customs related to burial,indicating the exceptional meaning of human death, the dignity of the humanbody, the mystery of the purgatory and the significance of the prayer forthe dead. Holy water is used in blessings and shows the need to sanctify thewhole human life, the everyday existence, the various dimensions of humanlabour and activity. Sometimes it is kept in the houses of the believers towhich they can resort to in moments of temptation. Many saints talks of theimportance of holy water as protection from the evil spirit. Furthermore, itprovides consolation, reassurance in spiritual struggle and internal renewal.There is also the danger of abuse: mechanical use, giving up the spiritualstruggle with venial sins, neglecting everyday duties, magical thinking.
