Opis:
This paper presents the comparison among the control algorithms of a three phase, three wire shunt active power filter. The control algorithms are based on: 1) the current's physical components theory, 2) the p-q power theory. The active power filter operation under the distorted supply voltage at the point of common coupling condition is considered. The comparison concerns the aspects of: filtering current harmonics, reactive power compensation (defined in the fundamental harmonic domain), supply current balancing and dynamic performance. The results of the laboratory investigation, using the fast prototyping system dSPACE, are given in the paper. This paper confirms that the current's physical components theory allows developing the control algorithm of shunt active power filter and its practical implementation. The investigation allows the conclusion that this control algorithm enables achieving the supply system current shape close to the sinusoidal, despite shunt active power filter operation under the distorted supply voltage. A sinusoidal supply current cannot be attained by the control algorithm based on the p-q power theory without some additional control elements, such as: PLL, signal filters, etc. The experiment also has shown that the control algorithm based on the p-q power theory is easier to implement and less demanding in terms of hardware than the control algorithm based on the current's physical components theory.

Recently the authors have developed a time-domain representation of the Currents’ Physical Components (CPC) power theory. Consequently, piece-wise continuous currents and voltages, such as square waves and sawtooth signals, can naturally be taken into account without approximating them by a finite number of harmonics. Based on the time-domain CPC approach, this paper refines and corrects some of the assertions made by Czarnecki in his paper ‘Physical Interpretation of the Reactive Power in Terms of CPC Power Theory’.

Opis:
Water erosion is a critical issue for Morocco, especially in its semi-arid regions, where climatic and edaphic conditions only allow erratic soil formation and vegetation growth. Therefore, water erosion endangers human activity both directly (loss of arable land, landslides, mudflows) and indirectly (siltation of dams, river pollution). This study is part of the Kingdom’s effort to assess the risk of water erosion in its territory. It is dedicated to the Bin El-Ouidane dam water catchment, one of the biggest water storage facilities in the country, located in the High Atlas Mountains. The poorly developed soils are very sensitive to erosion in this mountainous area that combines steep slopes and sparse vegetation cover. The calculation of soil losses is carried out with the RUSLE model and corrected by estimating areas of deposition based on the unit stream power theory. This method produces a mean erosion rate of around 6.3 t·ha-1·y-1, or an overall annual loss of 4.1 mln t, consistently with the siltation rate of the dam. Primary risk areas (erosion rates > 40 t·ha-1·y-1) account for 54% of the total losses, while they cover only 7% of the catchment. This distribution of the soil losses also shows that the erosion risk is mainly correlated to slope, directing the means of control toward mechanical interventions.

nonsinusoidal waveforms
Opis:
This article aims to explain the capability of describing three-phase systems powered from the source with asymmetrical nonsinusoidal voltage waveforms. Indicating the physical components of the currents associated closely with specific physical phenomena facilitates separating the unbalanced components from the active and reactive ones. All those currents, excluding the active current and the scattered current, contribute to the existing unbalanced and reactive power. This article presents the decomposition of currents based on the Currents’ Physical Components Theory. When decomposing currents, it is assumed that the load is linear and unchanging in time, and the voltage supply is asymmetrical and nonsinusoidal.

Opis:
The article presents the essentials of reactance compensation of unbalanced loads in three-phase four-wire systems powered by a sinusoidal and asymmetrical voltage source. The whole of compensation and symmetrization is based on the Currents’ Physical Components (CPC) theory. Reactance compensation, i.e. compensation based solely on inductors and capacitors, in four-wire systems requires the device to be included in a star (Y) structure in order to compensate for the reactive current (reactive power) and the current at the neutral conductor caused by zero sequence asymmetry, and for the device in a delta (∆) structure to allow compensation of the reactive current (reactive power) and current, causing asymmetry of the negative sequence.

Opis:
Power is a fundamental category in the field of political and security sciences. It occupies a key position in practically every theory of international relations. Some of the categories that describe power can be defined using similar terms, although there are also those that define similar categories in a completely different manner. This is what happens when you find similar definitions for terms such as ‘power, ‘strength’, ‘authority’, or ‘influence’. Identifying the factors that make up a state’s power is no less problematic. Even if some elements of power seem to be unchanged (military or economic factors) and important for all currents of the theory of international relations, the differences in their rank may be significant and crucial for understanding the differences between particular theoretical approaches. The aim of the article is to show both the fixed elements of individual theories (primarily realistic and liberal, but also radicalism and postmodernism) as well as the differences in defining the power of their individual representatives.

Opis:
The paper deals with the new method of analysis, synthesis and experimentation of single-phase power active filters. By using a new particular transformation theory, the ordinary single-phase system can be transformed into an equivalent two-axes orthogonal one. The new original thought is based on the idea that ordinary single-phase quantity can be complemented bv fictitious second phase so that both of them will create an orthogonal system, as is usual in three-phase systems, in spite of [1]. Application of the above theory makes it possible to use complex methods of analysis as the instantaneous reactive power method, which have not been usable for single-phase systems so far. Both, the active and reactive powers can be determined by this way. Practical application of the method is outlined for the case of reference current determination for single-phase power active filter. The paper shows some examples of the simu-lution verification results, which proved a high accuracy and extremely fast response of the single-phase active filter with control, based on the introduced method. The effectiveness of proposed control algorithm is also demonstrated by experimental results, which were carried out on the single - phase active parallel filter, power rate of 25 kVA and controlled by 32 - bit Heating point digital signal processor TMS 320C31.

The article presents two definitions of power, which were developed in the first half of the twentieth century and are used in the theory of power to this day. Then, errors in these methods are discussed. The analysis is based on examples that checked theoretical assumptions of these methods. Contemporary definitions of power are based on Budeanu and Fryze theories, so it is important to remind the scientific community about the limitations and errors in them hidden. The subject of this article is also valid because of the development of electric drive on public transport.

Using the matrix notation for voltages and currents of a 3-phase system, a description of changing the instantaneous power on terminals of electric circuit has been offered as a third rank matrix. As a result of the power matrix’ decomposition into a symmetric matrix and an antisymmetric matrix and upon defining norms for these matrices the state of the 3-phase circuit can be clearly determined.
Korzystając z zapisu macierzowego napięć i prądów występujących w węźle obwodu 3-fazowego, zaproponowano opis zmian wartości chwilowych mocy na zaciskach rozpatrywanego układu w postaci macierzy trzeciego stopnia. W wyniku dekompozycji macierzy mocy na macierz symetryczną i antysymetryczną oraz po zdefiniowaniu norm dla tych macierzy można w jednoznaczny sposób określić stan układu 3-fazowego.
