Opis:
The wind power which has been expected to be a promising alternative energy source can bring new challenges when it is connected to the power grid due to the fluctuation nature of the wind and the comparatively new types of its generators. This paper illustrates a possible solution to mitigate these integration issues of the wind power by application of the energy storage to the wind farm in power systems focusing on its short-duration perspective. The simulation model for the Energy Storage System (ESS) connected to the wind farm is implemented using the Power System Simulator for Engineering(PSS/E) which is one of the most widely used program for the power system analysis in US. Employing a sample power system, the control effect of the ESS for mitigating the wind generation related power quality issues by suppressing the power flow fluctuation of the wind farm, and improving power system stability is validated. The counteracting effect of the ESS in the wind farm to the disturbance on the grid is also shown.

Opis:
This paper presents a system that provides photovoltaic generation as well as the functions of a unified power quality conditioner. The system can be controlled for current harmonics and reactive power compensation simultaneously by using a converter operating as active shunt filter. The other converter is used as active series filter and it compensates voltage harmonics or voltage sags and swells. Using only an inverter in photovoltaic energy conversion process, the system presents increased efficiency when compared to the conventional systems. The synchronous reference frame method is used to control the three-phase converters. Simulation results demonstrate the good performance of the proposed configuration. Experimental results corresponding to the operation of the series filter as voltage sag compensator are presented.

Przeprowadzono ocenę jakości wiejskich sieci dystrybucyjnych na tle jakości sieci miejskich oraz zmian, jakie zaszły w tym zakresie w Polsce w latach 2001-2007. Praca zawiera także ocenę ilościową i wartościową tych sieci. Cel pracy zrealizowano na przykładzie sieci średniego i niskiego napięcia, znajdujących się w rejonie obsługi energetycznej trzech wybranych spółek dystrybucyjnych.
The study was carried out to assess the quality of rural power distribution networks, against a background of urban networks quality and the changes having been occurred in this field in Poland within 2001-2007. Investigations included also a quantitative and valuable evaluation of these networks. The aim of work has been realized on an example of the medium and low voltage networks localized on the area of energy supply by 3 selected distribution companies.

Opis:
The Voltage flicker, a phenomenon of annoying light intensity fluctuation, caused by rapid change in industrial and domestic load such as Electric Arc Furnaces (EAF), rolling mills, welding equipments and pumps operating periodically has been a major concern for supply utilities, electricity regulatory agencies and customers. Static Voltage Compensators (SVC's) and Static Synchronous Compensators (STATCOM) have been able to solve the voltage flicker problem by rapidly controlling the reactive power. But, the control of active power along with reactive power control helps to mitigate the voltage flicker problem more effectively. In this paper, voltage flicker mitigation of EAF with STATCOM along with Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) is presented and performance results of the system using PSCAD/EMTDC software are analyzed.

The aim of this paper is the application of selected time-varying power quality indices combined with detailed time-frequency analysis for assessment of transients in wind energy system. Presented proposition utilizes short-term harmonic distortion in voltage (STHDV) characteristic as an indicator for detail local time-frequency analysis of the transients. Introduced ideas can be treated as hybrid system absorbing both power quality indices and time-frequency representation.

Ma ona składniki zarówno użyteczne jak i szkodliwe. Rozliczenia energetyczne uwzględniające użyteczność i szkodliwość składników mocy czynnej mogą tworzyć motywacje ekonomiczne dla poprawy jakości zasilania i jakości użytkowania energii elektrycznej.
The active power of harmonics generating loads or loads supplied with asymmetrical or distorted voltage is not a synonym to the useful power. It has both useful and detrimental components. Energy accounts that recognize the usefulness and harmfulness of these components could create economical incentives for both the supply quality and the loading quality improvement.

Opis:
W artykule przedstawiono próbę standaryzacji metod pomiarowych do wyznaczania wskaźników jakości energii elektrycznej na podstawie dokumentów normalizacyjnych IEC/TC77. Wymagania dotyczą grupy przyrządów realizujących pomiary w systemach zasilających prądu przemiennego 50/60 Hz, a w szczególności analizatorów parametrów sieci. Na podstawie zaleceń przyjętych z dokumentów normalizacyjnych przedstawiono niektóre wymagania określające utrzymywanie warunków kompatybilności (EMC-ElectroMagnetic Compatibility), zarówno po stronie dostawców jak i odbiorców energii elektrycznej. Przedstawiono także przykłady wybranych przyrządów zaliczanych do grupy analizatorów jakości energii elektrycznej, które spełniają wymagania standaryzacji metod pomiarowych i zapewniają zbieżność otrzymywanych wyników do porównywania wskaźników jakości energii elektrycznej w ramach określonej normami klasy pomiarowej.
In the article a test of standardization of measurement methods to calculate electrical energy quality indicators has been introduced. The test has been described in few publications and standardization documents, prepared by IEC/TC77. The requirements refer to a grup of devices that designed for measurements in boosting systems of alternate current 50/60 Hz. They preciselly refer to measurement devices that analyse network parameters, which as multiparameter tools should allow on complex electromagnetic compatibility assessment (EMC-ElectroMagnetic Compatibility) evaluation of devices and systems in circuits of public distribution networks. Following the rules and regulations which are accepted according to standardization documents some of the compatibility requirements on both side-suppliers and recivers of electrical energy have been pointed out. There has been general outlook survey conducted of all possible dangers that can apper when using devices of public distribution networks and also when acceptable quality indicators are overlimited. There have been presented some devices which fulfill demands of standardization of measurements methods. They provide convergence of results to compare quality indicators according to certain standards.

In this paper, a review of Phase Locked Loop (PLL) algorithms and symmetrical component extraction methods intended for grid-connected power electronic converters are presented. Proposed classification is based on voltage representation in three coordinates: natural (abc), stationary (alfa beta) and rotating coordinates (dq). The three selected algorithms are described in details: Dual Second Order Generalized Integrator (DSOGI-PLL), Dual Virtual Flux – both in stationary coordinates. The third one, in rotating dq coordinates, is Dual Synchronous Reference Frame PLL (DSRF-PLL). A comparison of PLL algorithms is presented. Also, selected experimental results are given to verify practical application of discussed algorithms.

Energooszczędne urządzenia oświetleniowe od wielu lat są stosowane m.in. w gospodarstwach domowych, obiektach użyteczności publicznej, obiektach przemysłowych i oświetleniu ulicznym, a obowiązująca od 2011 r. Ustawa o efektywności energetycznej z pewnością ich stosowanie zintensyfikuje. Urządzenia te pobierają prąd odkształcony, a w niektórych przypadkach ? silnie odkształcony. Powoduje to różnorodne problemy instalacyjne. W pracy przeprowadzono analizę odkształcenia prądu pobieranego przez wybrane lampy i oceniono je z punktu widzenia wymagań odnośnie do jakości energii elektrycznej.
Energy efficient lighting is increasingly placed in residential, public and industrial indoors as well as in outdoor lighting. This process is assisted by Energy Efficiency Plan 2011 prepared by Euro Parliament. The load current of high efficient lamps usually is distorted and sometimes the distortion is remarkably high. This phenomenon can cause serious problems in the supply installation. This paper presents an analysis of current distortion in lamps circuits and evaluation of this distortion in terms of power quality standards.

Similarly to a number of other quantities, those describing voltage variation make it possible to provide a complete assessment of the quality of electrical energy. Voltage variation may be described by measures used to assess the obnoxiousness of voltage fluctuations or measures that help indicate the source of fluctuations. The paper provides a comparison of the three most popular measures: the Umax maximum and Umin minimum rms voltage values, the Pst short-term flicker indicator, and voltage fluctuation indicators. The part that specifies the particular measures (including an additional description of the ∆V10 indicator) also contains their short descriptions. The main part of the dissertation describes the dependence of the voltage fluctuation measures on the frequency of the fm amplitude and frequency modulating signal. Observations drawn allow to specify the diagnostic capabilities of particular measures. Due to the complexity of voltage fluctuation measures’ studies the paper deals with only a certain aspect of it and should be concerned as a step to understanding the idea of voltage fluctuation measures.

The author of this paper plans to make a measurement of quality parameters for existing and used lighting installation, made from electroluminescent diodes (LED). The measurements will be made in a few different working states of installation. Based on research will be conducted the analyze and this allow define the worst working state. In the further will be selected elements which generate the most of distortion. The research will aim to create optimal solution, that is maximal reduction of higher harmonics voltage and current level, while minimal costs of influence in lighting installation.

Opis:
Increased sea transport with a constantly growing demand by ships for electric power means higher emission of pollutions generated by ships to the atmosphere. To turn off automatic generator sets which are the main source of air pollution emissions by ships mooring in the port a ship has to be connected to the power land network. Quality of electric power supplied from the land is of a great importance connected with security of the work of naval systems and economical ship functioning. Complicated computer steering systems more and more frequently used on ships are very sensitive to disturbances and require energy supply of a very high quality. In this article basic information about quality of electric power supplied to the ship from the land network and chosen ways of its improvement are presented.
Zwiększony transport morski, przy ciągle rosnącym zapotrzebowaniu przez statki na energię elektryczną oznacza większą emisję zanieczyszczeń generowanych przez statki do atmosfery. W celu wyłączenia autonomicznych zespołów prądotwórczych, które są głównym źródłem emisji zanieczyszczeń powietrza przez statki cumujące w porcie jest podłączenie statku do elektroenergetycznej sieci lądowej. Jakość energii elektrycznej dostarczanej z lądu ma ogromne znaczenie związane z bezpieczeństwem pracy systemów okrętowych i ekonomicznym funkcjonowaniem statku. Stosowane coraz powszechniej na statkach skomplikowane komputerowe systemy sterowania są bardzo wrażliwe na zaburzenia i wymagają zasilania o bardzo wysokiej jakości. W niniejszym artykule przedstawiono podstawowe informacje dotyczące jakości energii elektrycznej dostarczanej na statek z sieci lądowej oraz wybrane sposoby jej poprawy.

Power quality is an important problem for electrical systems. Electricity receivers should operate at nominal conditions. Each deviation from nominal values may cause the malfunction of electrical devices, decreasing their durability and permanently damage the appliance. The importance of electric power quality for technical systems and individual electrical devices on fishing boats is fundamental. Utilization of equipment powered by electrical energy with a reduced quality resulting in economical losses and the treat to the screw's safety. Researches of the electrical energy's quality were carried out almost any type of fishing boats. This article presents the results of researches concerning the quality of electrical energy performed on a representative type of fishing boats. It shortly evaluates the results of tests and suggests solutions to improve the power quality parameters.
Jakość zasilania jest ważnym problemem dla systemów elektrycznych. Odbiorniki energii elektrycznej powinny pracować w warunkach znamionowych. Każde odchylenie od wartości znamionowych może powodować nieprawidłową pracę urządzeń elektrycznych, zmniejszenie ich trwałości, a w konsekwencji trwałe uszkodzenie. Znaczenie jakości energii elektrycznej dla systemów technicznych i pojedynczych urządzeń elektrycznych na kutrach rybackich jest fundamentalne. Eksplantacja urządzeń zasilanych energią elektryczną o obniżonej jakości skutkuje stratami ekonomicznymi i zagrożeniem bezpieczeństwa załogi. Badaniom jakości energii elektrycznej poddana została większość typów polskich kutrów rybackich. W niniejszym artykule przedstawiono wyniki badań jakości energii elektrycznej przeprowadzone na reprezentatywnym typie kutrów rybackich. Dokonano krótkiej oceny wyników badań i zaproponowano rozwiązania poprawiające parametry jakości energii elektrycznej.
