    In this paper, we study the power domination problem in Knödel graphs WΔ,2ν and Hanoi graphs $H_p^n $. We determine the power domination number of W3,2ν and provide an upper bound for the power domination number of Wr+1,2r+1 for r ≥ 3. We also compute the k-power domination number and the k-propagation radius of $H_p^2$.

    In this paper, we study the power domination problem in Knödel graphs $ W_{ \Delta,2 \nu } $ and Hanoi graphs $ H_p^n $. We determine the power domination number of $ W_{3,2 \nu } $ and provide an upper bound for the power domination number of $ W_{r+1,2^{r+1}} $ for $ r \ge 3 $. We also compute the $k$-power domination number and the k-propagation radius of $ H_p^2 $.

    The problem of monitoring an electric power system by placing as few measurement devices in the system can be formulated as a power dominating set problem in graph theory. The power domination number of a graph is the minimum cardinality of a power dominating set. Xu and Kang [On the power domination number of the generalized Petersen graphs, J. Comb. Optim. 22 (2011) 282–291] study the exact power domination number for the generalized Petersen graph P (3k, k), and propose the following problem: determine the power domination number for the generalized Petersen graph P (4k, k) or P (ck, k). In this paper we give the power domination number for P (4k, k) and present a sharp upper bound on the power domination number for the generalized Petersen graph P (ck, k).

    The aim of the paper was to analyse relations between power in professional work and in close sexual relationships. Power in professional work was analysed with respect to the managerial position, the number of subordinates and salary. Power in close sexual relationships was determined on the basis of a sense of reinforcement of power as a sexual motivation, a propensity for sexual domination, the sense of power in relations with a partner in a close relationship, sexual assertiveness, realization of one’s own sexual phantasies and inclination to initiate sexual activity. The research was carried out on a group of 205 participants in which 100 of respondents occupied managerial positions at work and 105 were subordinates. The following tools were used: the Sense of Power Scale (Anderson, John, & Keltner, 2012), the Multidimensional Sexuality Questionnaire (Snell, Fisher, & Walters, 1993), the AMORE scale (Hill & Preston, 1996), the Need for Power and Influence Questionnaire (Bennett, 1988) and a data sheet. The results showed that power in the workplace was correlated a more frequent initiation of sexual activity, greater assertiveness in sexual matters, more frequent realisation of one’s own phantasies and an increased propensity for sexual domination.

    The article deals with collections and collecting as a literary theme. Research on this issue should be undertaken by literary scholars, as collectionssupport the features of literary characters and give protagonists their identity. The work analysed from this angle is Money by Andrzej Strug from 1914. It interprets and describes three different collections and three different collectors: the eccentric Lyttons and their museum of stones, Lucy Slazenger’s precious jewellery collection and the art collection of Osias Murway, an enthusiast of antiquities.

    Opis:
    The article deals with the problem of power and knowledge in contemporary discourse studies. The presented reflections are based on theoretical assumptions of the work by two French authors: Michel Foucault and Pierre Bourdieu. These assumptions constitute crucial reference point for contemporary critical discourse analysis (CDA). Different ways of interpreting the workings of power/knowledge in discourse by leading CDA scholars - Teun van Dijk, Ruth Wodak and Norman Fairclough – are analyzed. The aim of the text is not only to present the CDA theoretical background and conceptual scheme but also to demonstrate how discursive violence and hidden power relations can be identified with the help of these theoretical frameworks. The power/knowledge relations in media discourse predominated by symbolic elites, who reproduce discursive order, are given particular attention in the article. Through the presented reflections the author advocates the view that the consolidation of theoretical and methodological assumptions and the negotiation of conceptual framwork are much needed in the field of CDA since it facilitates intersubjective communication in sociology.
    Podjęte rozważania koncentrują się wokół problematyki władzy i wiedzy we współczesnych badaniach nad dyskursem. Teoretyczną ramą omawianych kwestii są założenia zapro- ponowane przez Michela Foucault i Pierre’a Bourdieu – stanowiące jeden z istotnych punk- tów odniesienia dla współczesnych reprezentantów krytycznej analizy dyskursu (KAD). Pod rozwagę wzięte zostały sposoby ukazywania relacji władzy–wiedzy w dyskursie u takich przedstawicieli KAD, jak Teun van Dijk, Ruth Wodak oraz Norman Fairclough. Tekst ma na celu nie tylko ukazanie odniesień teoretycznych i wypracowanej siatki pojęciowej KAD, ale też omówienie sposobów aplikacji ram konceptualnych do identyfikacji przemocy dyskursywnej i demaskowania ukrytych stosunków władzy. W szczególności zwrócona została uwaga na relacje władzy–wiedzy w dyskursie medialnym, do którego dostęp posiadają przede wszystkim elity symboliczne, uczestniczące w reprodukowaniu określonego porządku dys- kursywnego. Całości rozważań przyświeca przekonanie o konieczności dokonywania ustaleń teoretyczno-metodologicznych oraz uzgodnień na poziomie „siatki pojęciowej”, co sprzyja intersubiektywnej komunikowalności na gruncie socjologii.
