    This article concerns culinary motifs found in popular women’s fiction at the turn of the 20th and 21st centuries. Women’s fiction is either indifferent to culinary topics or interested in them as a theme, metaphor or recipe. Culinary topics as the main theme appear in novels written by Kalicińska, Enerlich, and Ficner-Ogonowska. I. Sowa employs a culinary code as a metaphor for contemporary urban life style which is marked by consumerism, excess of consumer goods and an intense rivalry. Kalicińska’s novel cycle is an example of downshifting narratives appreciated by some feminists as a way to promote ecology and a women’s community. Culinary novels authored by Enerlich and Ogonowska do not popularize the culinary culture, but rather commercialize it.

    The article discusses the evolving image of female characters in the Mad Max saga directed by George Miller, focusing on Furiosa’s rebellion in the last film—Mad Max: Fury Road. Interestingly, studying Miller’s post-apocalyptic action films, we can observe the evolution of this post-apocalyptic vision from the male-dominated world with civilization collapsing into chaotic violence visualized in the previous series to a more hopeful future created by women in the last part of the saga: Mad Max: Fury Road (2015). We observe female heroes: the vengeful Furiosa, the protector of oppressed girls and sex slaves, the women of the separatist clan, and the wives of the warlord, who bring down the tyranny and create a new “green place.” It is worth emphasizing that the plot casts female solidarity in the central heroic role. In fact, the Mad Max saga emerges as a piece of socially engaged cinema preoccupied with the cultural context of gender discourse. Noticeably, media commentators, scholars and activists have suggested that Fury Road is a feminist film.

    The aim of this article is to analyze the phenomenon of feminist litur- gies to ask whether they are strictly religious or, rather, they constitute an element of post-secular culture understood here as ascribing some forms of religion/spirituality a positive meaning for the desired politi- cal and social change. It is based, first of all, on the material gathered by Catholic/Catholic-raised women activists. The analysis of the or- ganizing principles of the feminist liturgies has led me to see conver- gence between their ideological grounds and the functionalist-struc- tural understanding of the relationships between society, culture and ritual. Against this background, the instrumental approach to litur- gical forms becomes clear, as they have become tools to embody and propagate feminist consciousness. This allowed me to conclude that the nature of this phenomenon is post-secular.
    Celem artykułu jest analiza zjawiska liturgii feministycznych pod ką- tem pytania, czy mają one charakter ruchu stricte religijnego, czy też stanowią element kultury postsekularnej, rozumianej tu jako przy znanie jakimś formom religii/duchowości pozytywnego znaczenia dla pożądanych przemian politycznych i społecznych. Bazuję tu przede wszystkim na materiale autorstwa działaczek katolickich/wywodzą cych się z katolicyzmu. Analiza zasad organizujących liturgie femini styczne doprowadziła do zauważenia zbieżności ich ideowego podłoża z funkcjonalistyczno-strukturalnym rozumieniem relacji społeczeń stwa i kultury do rytuału. Na tym tle widoczne staje się instrumentalne podejście do form liturgicznych, które stają się narzędziami ucieleśnia nia i propagacji feministycznej świadomości. Pozwala to na sformuło wanie wniosku o postsekularnym charakterze omawianego fenomenu.

    This essay offers an overview of the diversity of women’s prose writing that emerged on the Czech cultural scene in the post-communist era. To that end it briefly characterizes the work of eight Czech women authors who were born within the first two decades after World War II and began to create during the post-1968 era of ‘normalization’. In this broad sense they belong to a single generation. With rare exception their work was not officially published in their homeland until the 1990s. The writers included are: Lenka Procházková, Tereza Boučková, Alexandra Berková, Zuzana Brabcová, Daniela Hodrová, Sylvie Richterová, Iva Pekárková, and Eva Hauserová. The overview is followed by a concise comparative analysis of texts by three very different writers (Procházková, Pekárková, and Hodrová), using a feminist critical approach. There is also an appendix of works by these writers available in English translation.

    This article is an analysis of one area of Piotr Piotrowski’s (1952–2015) activity in the 1990s – his writings on the art of Zofia Kulik and, more specifically, on its feminist dimension. I argue that although Piotrowski was never interested in women’s art in particular, not only did he practise feminist criticism during this period, but he was also a catalyst for the development of a specific form of feminist reflection that was then new in Polish art history. It focused on power relations and did not accept distancing oneself from social and political problems. I analyse it from the perspective of contemporary revisions of the development of feminist discourse after 1989 in Eastern Europe, which critically examines its embeddedness in Western ideas.

    The article offers a reflection on the utility of postcolonial studies and transnational feminism for the analysis of women’s post-socialist experiences, with a special emphasis on Croatian academic and social space. After general considerations about the epistemological profile and etico-political agenda of transnational feminism – as illustrated by the results of the feminist seminar in Dubrovnik (2007–2015) – the author presents three theoretically most challenging feminist authors: Madina Tlostanova, Biljana Kašić and Marina Gržinić. Each of them in its own way demonstrates that theoretical voices from the “global South” are the most productive tool to oppose academic “global feminism” and to inspire “women’s struggles for sociopolitical justice, especially in colonial and neocolonial contexts” (Swarr, Nagar 2010: 4). The radical call for the decolonization of gender, human being and knowledge (Tlostanova 2013), the appreciation of woman’s public voices and counter-discourses (Kašić), and the critique of racialization in the production of knowledge (Gržinić 2015) are intertwined and linked to the final thesis about the importance of distinguishing the biopolitical form of women’s memory vs. the necropolitical formation of institutionalized history in post-socialist context.

    Tekst prezentuje rozważania o szansach realizowania edukacji na rzecz zrównoważonego rozwoju w warunkach prognozowanej totalnej zmiany charakteru egzystencji człowieka w świecie. W niedalekiej przyszłości glob mają zamieszkiwać różne istoty humanoidalne i cyborgi, a „normalni” ludzie (tzn. bez genetycznych i/lub technologicznych ulepszeń) będą stanowić najniższą warstwę społeczną. Nowe społeczeństwo, odrzucające tradycyjny porządek i uniwersalne wartości pozbędzie się także innych reliktów dawnej epoki, jak kultura i sztuka. Po-człowieka nie trzeba będzie więc już wychowywać. Edukacja zostanie zastąpiona wgrywaniem danych w człowieka-maszynę. Taka istota, pozbawiona duszy, bez wykształconego poczucia odpowiedzialności za siebie i innych, oraz bez szacunku i miłości dla świata, nie będzie w stanie podjąć się realizacji wielkiego projektu, jakim jest praca na rzecz zrównoważonego rozwoju. Jeżeli więc „czarny scenariusz” ma pozostać tylko graniczną przestrogą – ostrzeżeniem dla ludzkości, to należy sprzeciwiać się niebezpiecznym praktykom manipulacji człowiekiem i aktywnie pielęgnować edukację humanistyczną.
    The paper presents deliberations on chances to undertake the education for sustainable development in the conditions of a predicted total change of the type of human existence. In the close future our globe is to be inhabited by various humanoids, strange creatures, and cyborgs, while “normal” people (without genetic and/or technological improvements) will constitute the lowest social class. A new society, neglecting the traditional social order and universal values will also abandon other relicts of an old epoch, like art and culture. Thus a post-human will not need to be educated any more. A teaching-learning process will be replaced by downloading data into human-machine’s brain/hardware. Such a creature – without soul, with no sense of responsibility for itself and the others, and without the idea of respect and love for the whole world will be unable to undertake and realize the immense project of sustainable development. So, if that “black scenario” is only to be a final warning for humanity, it should be obligatory for everyone to oppose all dangerous activities of human manipulations and actively cultivate and nurture human education.
