    Opis:
    This paper traces how very different patterns of historical development of two cities have impacted on their housing tissues as they have evolved over the last 200 years. Using cases from Krakow and Oxford, a selection of urban tissues will be investigated in relation to the way the housing unit, whether house or apartment, relates to the public realm of the city. The chosen cases exemplify the difference between English cities, predominantly of terraced, semidetached or single houses, and Continental European cities which have predominantly evolved as apartment tissues. This difference is emphasized by recent figures showing the different proportions of house types in European countries. The way these tissues have evolved in relation to broader social and political contexts is discussed. Finally the argument is brought up to date by considering ways the concepts of modernism and recent global forces are imposing similar patterns of development in both cases. The authors in addition to their academic affiliations have had considerable practical experience in the field of housing in their respective contexts.

    In this paper, using the concept of A-statistical convergence we prove a Korovkin type approximation theorem in multivariate modular function spaces. Furthermore, giving an example via bivariate operators of Kantorovich type, it is shown that our theorem is stronger than its classical case.

    Opis:
    Motivated by applications, we consider new operator-theoretic approaches to conditional mean embedding (CME). Our present results combine a spectral analysis-based optimization scheme with the use of kernels, stochastic processes, and constructive learning algorithms. For initially given non-linear data, we consider optimization-based feature selections. This entails the use of convex sets of kernels in a construction of optimal feature selection via regression algorithms from learning models. Thus, with initial inputs of training data (for a suitable learning algorithm), each choice of a kernel K in turn yields a variety of Hilbert spaces and realizations of features. A novel aspect of our work is the inclusion of a secondary optimization process over a specified convex set of positive definite kernels, resulting in the determination of “optimal” feature representations.

    In the paper, an assumption is forwarded that if sound systems are brought to a contact setting, inter-entity distinctiveness is usually distorted. In the psycholinguistic sense of the word, it means that in the perception process, a particular sound of a less favoured system may be downgraded or even ridiculed. This generally places a given sound system in a weaker position sustainability-wise. It is assumed that the process may involve the presence and operation of the phenomenon of ethnic nepotism.

    Opis:
    In this paper the possibility of tracking the evolution of reconstructed pseudo-phase portraits in the diagnosis of positive-displacement pump wear has been presented. The reconstructed pseudo-phase portraits were obtained from vibration signals measured in characteristic places on the pump casing and from the dynamic pressure graphs recorded in the output port of the pump during the passive test experiment. The recorded measurement concerned to tree state of pump condition: in full working order, in part working order and pump with wear out elements.
    W artykule przedstawiono możliwość wykorzystania odtworzonych z zarejestrowanych sygnałów przebiegów pseudoportretów fazowych w diagnostyce zużycia pomp wyporowych na przykładzie badań pompy wielotłoczkowej. Odtworzone pseudoportrety fazowe otrzymano w wyniku przeprowadzenia biernego eksperymentu diagnostycznego, ze zmierzonych w charakterystycznych miejscach korpusu pompy sygnałów wibracji oraz dodatkowo z przebiegów ciśnienia dynamicznego dla trzech stanów pracy pompy: pełnej sprawności, stanu częściowej sprawności oraz pracy pompy zużytej.

    This essay shows drawings and paintings of Bogdan Krasniewski (artist from Toruń) compared to idea of betwixt and between made by Victor Turner, concept of Dark night of the Soul Saints` John of the Cross and theory of positive disintegration compile by Kazimierz Dąbrowski . This confrontation present space in Kraśniewski's paintings not only as material space, but more as space of internal growth, spiritual progress. This way of progress is divided into two parts: spatium initiati – where man chooses between material or spiritual way of life and spatium transitionis where took place constant progress. This article shows how that spaces function in art of Krasniewski
    Artykuł prezentuje twórczość plastyczną Bogdana Kraśniewskiego (artysty z Torunia) i jej związki z opisywanym szczegółowo przez Victora Turnera pojęciem fazy liminalnej, koncepcją „nocy ciemnej” św. Jana od Krzyża oraz teorii dezintegracji pozytywnej, stworzonej przez Kazimierza Dąbrowskiego. Takie zestawienie pokazuje, że przestrzeń w twórczości Kraśniewskiego można rozumieć nie tylko w znaczeniu fizycznym, lecz również jako przestrzeń wewnętrznego wzrostu i duchowego rozwoju. Rozwój ten podzielony jest na dwie części: spatiuminitiati, gdzie człowiek dokonuje wyboru między życiem skupionym na sferze cielesnej albo na duchowej, oraz spatiumtransitionis, gdzie ma miejsce ciągły progres. Artykuł pokazuje, jak te dwie przestrzenie funkcjonują w twórczości Kraśniewskiego.
