Opis:
The numerical method can be a good choice in solving nonlinear partial differential equations (PDEs) due to the difficulty in finding the analytical solution. Porous medium equation (PME) is one of the nonlinear PDEs which exists in many realistic problems. This paper proposes a four-point Newton-EGMSOR (4-Newton-EGMSOR) iterative method in solving 1D nonlinear PMEs. The reliability of the 4-Newton-EGMSOR iterative method in computing approximate solutions for several selected PME problems is shown with comparison to 4-Newton-EGSOR, 4-Newton-EG and Newton-Gauss-Seidel methods. Numerical results showed that the proposed method is superior in terms of the number of iterations and computational time compared to the other three tested iterative methods.

Opis:
This article concerns fully developed laminar flow of a viscous incompressible fluid in a long composite cylindrical channel. Channel consist of three regions. Outer and inner regions are of uniform permeability and mid region is a clear region. Brinkman equation is used as a governing equation of motion in the porous region and Stokes equation is used for the clear fluid region. Analytical expressions for velocity profiles, rate of volume flow and shear stress on the boundaries surface are obtained and exhibited graphically. Effect of permeability variation parameter on the flow characteristics has been discussed.

Opis:
An analytical study for the creeping flow of a couple stress fluid past a cylinder embedded in a porous medium is presented using the slip condition. The uniform flow is considered far away from a cylinder. The boundary conditions used are zero couple stress and tangential slip conditions. The modified Bessel functions represent the stream function (the velocity). The drag exerted on a solid cylinder immersed in a porous medium is derived. The impacts of the couple stress, permeability, and slip parameters on the normalized drag force are presented graphically. The drag forces of well-known exceptional cases are reduced. The drag force is a decreasing function of the permeability and couple stress parameters and an increasing function of the slip parameter.

Opis:
This paper concerns the analytical investigation of the axisymmetric and steady flow of incompressible couple stress fluid through a rigid sphere embedded in a porous medium. In the porous region, the flow field is governed by Brinkman’s equation. Here we consider uniform flow at a distance from the sphere. The boundary conditions applied on the surface of the sphere are the slip condition and zero couple stress. Analytical solution of the problem in the terms of stream function is presented by modified Bessel functions. The drag experienced by an incompressible couple stress fluid on the sphere within the porous medium is calculated. The effects of the slip parameter, the couple stress parameter, and permeability on the drag are represented graphically. Special cases of viscous flow through a sphere are obtained and the results are compared with earlier published results.

Opis:
A dispersive equation for plane longitudinal mechanoelectromagnetic waves in a porous medium, saturated by an electrolytic solution and placed in an external electrical field was obtained and investigated. The main attention was paid to the effect of the electric field on the parameters of waves. It was established that the external field could determine the value and sign of the decay coefficient of the waves of the first kind. This allows influencing the mechanoelectromagnetic wave parameters by suitable choosing of the external electric field intensity, which can be useful for seismoelectric investigations of the Earth’s crust.

Opis:
In this paper, time fractional flow of a Newtonian fluid through a uniform cylindrical tube with a non-Darcy porous medium in the presence of dust particles under the application of a uniform magnetic field along the meridian axis is discussed. The implication of time fractional order differential equations in flow problems and some benefits of fractional order differential equations are highlighted. The Laplace Decomposition Method (LDM) is used to obtain an approximate solution to the proposed problem. The impact of fractional order and integer order of the differential equations and also the effects of some important parameters on the flow system are shown in the forms of graphs and a table. The convergence test of the solution is done. It has been observed that the fractional order differential equation reveals more things like the decrease in dust particle velocity due to the increase in magnetic field for fractional order derivatives, whereas, no noticeable change in dust particle velocity due to the change in magnetic field for integer order derivatives are observed. Also, it is observed that an increase in a fractional order derivative decrease the fluid as well as the dust particle velocities. The skin friction at the walls of the tube are also highlighted.
