    Opis:
    The article presents the issues that arise in the establishment and actual activation of Quality Policies. The first part of the article describes the essence of the Quality Policy and its implications for the structure, functioning and effectiveness of the enterprise management system in the area of quality. It also describes selected factors that mainly determine the Quality Policy, and includes the results of research carried out in 2015-2019 among 166 industrial enterprises operating in Poland. The aim of the research was to assess the actual Quality Policy put in place in each enterprise. The data was obtained on the basis of a survey conducted among persons representing middle management. The article contains the results of research on the assessment of selected aspects of the Quality Policy in the area of enterprise improvement. Statistical analysis of the research results allowed an assessment of the level of focus on improvement of enterprises and to compare the results in groups of enterprises with different employment levels and various degrees of independence in determining and implementing Quality Policy.

    Opis:
    The article describes the problems of one of the key elements of a quality management system which is the quality policy (QP). The quality policy is an element that determines how the quality management is managed in the organization. The phrase, present documents and the implementation of quality policy is the responsibility of top-level managers, resulting directly from the ISO 9000 standards. In the first part of the article the essence and the importance of quality policy for effective quality management is described. In the second part of the article there is a thorough description of a specially developed procedure for the establishment, implementation and monitoring of quality policy. The following procedure is based on years of experience of the author supported by the results of research, which aim was to create practices in the implementation and monitoring of quality policy in several business organizations. The approach presented in this article procedure is designed to assist managers in the development, implementation and monitoring of policy quality. The approach described as proper to the issue of the quality policy management staff will help in creating intelligent quality management system (IQMS). System, which will focus on permanent improvement based on the knowledge generated in the process of monitoring the implementation of quality policy.
    Artykuł opisuje kluczowy element systemu zarządzania jakością – politykę jakości (PJ). Sformułowanie, udokumentowanie i realizacja polityki jakości jest obowiązkiem najwyższego szczebla menedżerów, wynikającym z norm ISO serii 9000. Dlatego każda organizacja mająca certyfikat ISO 9001 posiada politykę jakości. W pierwszej części artykułu opisano istotę oraz znaczenie polityki jakości dla skutecznego zarządzania jakością. W kolejnej części artykułu szczegółowo opisano procedurę ustalania polityki jakości, a w szczególności proces jej transformacji na kierunki, mierniki i cele. Przedstawiona procedura powstała w oparciu o wieloletnie doświadczenia autora poparte wynikami badań, których celem była ocena realizacji polityk jakości w organizacjach. Badania miały na celu poznanie dobrych praktyk w zakresie ustalania i realizacji polityki jakości. Wyniki badań pozwoliły na zaproponowanie autorskiej procedury, która ma na celu ułatwienie menedżerom wdrożenie i monitorowanie realizacji ustalonej polityki jakości. Prawidłowe wdrożenie PJ oraz wiedza na temat oceny skuteczności jej realizacji stanowi podstawą trwałego doskonalenia organizacji. Jest to mechanizmy charakteryzujący "inteligentny" systemu zarządzania jakością, który posiada skuteczne mechanizmy reakcji na niedoskonałości występujące w organizacji. W niniejszym opracowaniu czytelnik znajdzie szczegółową procedurę wdrażania polityki jakości charakterystyczną do inteligentnego systemu zarządzania jakością.

    Opis:
    In the chapter were put through examination stages of the manufacturing process of the unit package in the enterprise from printing branch. In analysis focused on the identification of disagreements appearing during the production. For determining the structure of the disagreement of unit package a Pareto-Lorenz diagram was used. Classification of causes of the disagreement was carried out with using the FMEA method. In analysis of received results was focused on methods of quality improving of packages in connecting with the Deming cycle, PDCA and the SDCA cycle of the standardization in the purpose of fulfilling requirements of the customer.

    Biowęgiel, jego produkcja oraz liczne możliwości zastosowań stanowią w Europie bezsprzecznie jeden z wiodących obszarów badawczych w ostatnich latach. Prowadzone intensywnie prace badawczo-rozwojowe i przemysłowe przyczyniły się do poznania nowych właściwości biowęgla i zastosowań, szczególnie do celów innych niż energetyczne. Co więcej, biorąc pod uwagę przykłady komercyjnych zastosowań biowęgla i rosnącą listę produktów na bazie biowęgla, można już mówić o powstającym przemyśle biowęglowym. Z tego względu niezbędne jest opracowanie spójnej krajowej i międzynarodowej polityki dotyczącej biowęgla, w szczególności regulacji prawnych i jednolitego systemu oceny jakości biowęgla, aby zapewnić bezpieczne jego stosowanie w celach innych niż energetyczne. Celem artykułu jest omówienie aspektów jakościowych i prawnych dotyczących wymagań, jakie powinien spełniać biowęgiel wprowadzany do środowiska, a w szczególności do gleb. Artykuł porusza między innymi zagadnienia związane z aktualnie zalecanymi systemami oceny jakości, w tym metodyki analitycznej, klasyfikacji i certyfikacji biowęgla (tj. IBI, EBC, BQM). Obejmuje również przegląd aktualnego stanu prawnego w krajach UE, w tym w Polsce, dotyczącego biowęgla, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem wprowadzania biowęgla do gleb. W artykule wskazano również główne bariery i czynniki wpływające na rozwój przemysłu biowęglowego w Europie.
    Potential applications of biochar undoubtedly constitute one of the leading areas of research in Europe in recent years. A great number of research projects resulted in a discovery of biochar as a material of unique properties and wide range of applications, particularly for non-energy purposes. Giving the increasing number of examples of biochar commercial applications and the growing list of potential biochar-based products, we are now observing the emergence of biochar industry. Due to that, there is a necessity for development of a coherent national and international biochar policy, including legal framework and a unified system for biochar quality certification in order to assure safe application of biochar for non-energy purposes. The overall goal of this article is to discuss quality assurance and legal aspects of requirements for biochar introduced to the environment, particularly to soil. The article addresses the issues related to the currently recommended systems of biochar quality assurance and certification, including analytical methods, classification and certification of biochar (e.g. IBI, EBC, BQM) as well as the legislation in force in the European Union countries (including Poland) with special reference to the requirements for biochar applied to soils. Also, the article points out the main barriers for expansion of biochar industry in Europe.

    Today's businesses are looking for ways to reduce operating costs, elimination of the causes of waste and increasing profitability. Constant improvement of the quality management system is a solution but it means a challenge for the entire organization and integration with other management systems. The key to a well-planned quality improvement process is to include actions already involved in strategic plans. That is why shaping the quality policy in enterprises should be in tune with the strategic management system. We have been working on the quality system for years.

    Celem artykułu jest przybliżenie zastosowania metody wywiadu biograficznego w badaniach nad jakością życia osób z niepełnosprawnościami. Autor rozważa, czy metoda ta jest właściwa do oceny polityki publicznej w tym zakresie. Przyjęte przez autora założenie uwzględnia fakt, że metoda wywiadu biograficznego w prawidłowy sposób pozwala na syntezę wniosków wyciąganych z badania pojedynczych przypadków i obserwacji oraz generalizowanie i poszukiwanie szerszego kontekstu na podstawie udzielonych wypowiedzi badanych osób. Autor ocenia, w jakim stopniu założenia analizowanej metody odpowiadają tematowi badań jakości życia, szczególnie w kontekście niepełnosprawności. Następnie na podstawie krytycznej analizy stanu badań szuka odpowiedzi na to, jak często w literaturze przedmiotu autorzy stosują metodę wywiadu biograficznego do oceny zagadnienia niepełnosprawności, zwłaszcza pod kątem jakości życia oraz innych zjawisk z obszaru polityki publicznej. W operacjonalizacji badania oparto się na przeglądzie literatury przedmiotu w języku polskim i angielskim z lat 2006–2021.
    The aim of this article is to present the application of the biographical interview method in research on the life quality of people with disabilities. In the article, the author addresses the problem of whether this method is appropriate in the research and evaluation of public policy in this field. The research assumption adopted by the author takes into account the fact that the method of biographical interview in the research correctly allows for the synthesis of conclusions drawn from the study of individual cases and observations, as well as for generalising and searching for a broader context from the statements of the respondents. Firstly, the author will assess to what extent the assumptions of the analysed method correspond to the topic of quality of life research, especially in the context of disability. Then, an assessment of the extent to which the method of biographical interview is used to study the issue of disability, especially in terms of quality of life.. The operationalisation of the study was based on a review of the literature on the subject in Polish and English from 2006-2021.

    Opis:
    The paper deals with the implementation of the JSW Capital Group’s (Poland) Demand and Quality Driven Production Management System (SPPJ – System Zarządzania Produkcją oparty na Popycie i Jakości) using a service-oriented architecture (SOA). The main components of the SPPJ architecture have been characterized, and the scope of their integration has been defined. The individual parts in the first area, i.e. quality management, have been described in detail. Due to the extensive nature of the issue, components in other areas, i.e. planning and scheduling, coal extraction and processing, coke production, as well as sales and logistics, have only been signalled. Results of the analysis of the implementation of particular components of SPPJ areas have also been presented. The development of the system and the way of implementation in a mining environment is important from the perspective of achieving the superior objective of the JSW Capital Group’s Quality Programme, which is to increase the efficiency of management of the exploited deposit and the volume of commercial product supply.

    Opis:
    This paper presents application of Data science models to the quality assurance processes at the university. In 2015 Narxoz University in Almaty, Kazakhstan introduced a major change to its academic policy. Final year bachelor students were required to complete team-based diploma projects, focused on solving real business problems, instead of writing standard, often purely descriptive and theoretical diploma theses. This article uses data science models (linear regression, logit and CART) to analyze the effects of this policy change on recent graduates’ employability and wage levels using results of telephone survey conducted among 1956 graduates in 2015 and 2016. Estimated models show that students who have firm plans to find jobs, acquire valuable competences when preparing bachelor diploma and actively participate in student life, have higher probability of employment and earn higher wages. It means that the process of writing bachelor diploma should be carefully designed and monitored and that student learning outcomes also depend on their extra-curricular activity. Such analysis provides deep and interesting insights into the learning and assessment processes and should be a part of annual quality assurance review in every university. For example, results indicate that grading practices at Narxoz require a major review, as graduates with higher GPA did not exhibit higher employability nor higher wages. Similarly, curricula of some specializations (majors) should be reviewed due to low employment rate of graduates. Appropriate changes have already been implemented at Narxoz in 2017. Finally, we found that economic shocks have much stronger short-term impact on recent graduates’ employability and wages than reforms of academic curricula.
