W artykule zaproponowano wielostanowe podejście do oceny bezpieczeństwa systemów oraz zastosowane są procesy semi-markova do modelowania ich procesu eksploatacji. Zdefiniowano funkcję bezpieczeństwa systemu i funkcja ryzyka systemu. Zaproponowano również podejście do rozwiązania bardzo ważnego, praktycznego problemu powiązania bezpieczeństwa systemów z ich procesami eksploatacji. Zastosowanie proponowanej metody zostało przedstawione na przykładzie oceny bezpieczeństwa portowego systemu transportu paliwa.
A multi-state approach to estimation of the systems' safety is proposed and a semi-markov processes for their operation modelling are applied. A system safety function and a system risk function are defined. The paper offers an approach to the solution of a practically very important problem of linking the systems' safety and their operation processes. Application of the proposed method is illustrated in the safety evaluation of the port oil transportation system.

The process improvement operations are very significant in shipbuilding industry as the other industries. In recent years, the shipyards attempt to improve their processes by examining their current production system and to reduce the cycle time of the interim product so that they can keep their competitive power. If the cycle time of the interim products is decrease, that may cause to increase the annual production capacity and market share of the shipyard. In order to do this, the shipyards have to analyse their own production system and carry out some improvements on it. In this study, the effects of carrying out the outfitting and piping assembly operations in earlier work stations were investigated by using a methodology presented here. The steps in the methodology were applied to a double bottom block of a container ship. It was shown that if the outfitting and the piping assembly operations are carried out in earlier stations instead of the block assembly station, this may increase the throughput by 33%. The results of the study were discussed in the final section.

Opis:
Assessment of the negative impact on the components of the natural environment during the scheduled and repair outages of gas-compressor units in transportation the process of the natural gas was the purpose of the performed scientific work. The results of the monitoring studies, in which the methane concentrations were measured in the atmospheric air near the source of pollution and on the border of the sanitary protection zone during volley emissions of natural gas into the atmosphere, are presented in the article. In addition, a method that eliminates the release of the natural gas into the atmosphere during the scheduled and repair outages of gas-compressor units are suggested in the article. The method is based on the redistribution of gas flows and the direction of natural gas to the gas distribution station. Volley emissions of methane into the atmosphere will completely eliminated as a result of implementing this method. The proposed technical solution is aimed at reducing the negative impact on atmospheric air near gas compressor stations. Moreover, the proposed method is able to minimize the economic damage to gas companies because of the loss of marketable products.

This paper presents the findings of two experiments on pied-piping by a prenominal adjunct in Hungarian focus- and wh-constructions. According to Webelhuth (1992) and Cable (2010), pied-piping from adjunct islands is prohibited. The results of the experiments, however, suggest that not only is it possible in Hungarian for the pied-piper to be embedded inside an adjunct island but the embedding of the pied-piper and the movement itself are unrestricted in focus-construction. Pied-piping shows a similar picture in wh-constructions with the restriction that the wh-element has to be discourse-linked for pied-piping to be allowed.

The question of how the effects of management and organisational variables can be incorporated into assessment of frequency of loss containment events is currently of considerable interest. Usually these typology of events arises from an uncontrolled accidental phenomena or a combination of active and latent human errors in areas such as design, operations and maintenance. In the 2006 a development of a methodology for the quantification of the effects of measures of risk prevention or mitigation on the frequencies of rupture of pipework has been presented, the approach is based on the methodology proposed by Papazoglou in 1999. Taking advantage of Papazoglou methodology the estimation of these effects has been achieved through the definition of the links between the failure causes that are the origin of incidents and the measures adopted by the company in order to prevent and/or to mitigate them. After an overview on the failure causes in piping, the aim of this paper is to present the application of the recent modified methodology.

The paper is concerned with an application of the climate-weather change process for a critical infrastructure operating area model to identification and prediction of this process for the port oil piping transportation system operating area. For the considered piping operating area, there are distinguished three different climate-weather change processes and their states. Further, there are identified the unknown parameters of those processes, i.e. the probabilities of the climate-weather change processes staying at the initial climate-weather states, the probabilities of the climate-weather change transitions between the climate-weather states and the mean values of the climate-weather change processes' conditional sojourn times at particular states. Finally, there are predicted the main characteristics of the climate-weather change processes at the distinguished operating area.

Field observations and literature reveal that land use and soil characteristics play an important role in the development of piping. In this study, the hypothesis is tested that discontinuities in the soil profile favour piping erosion in loess-derived soils in a temperate humid climate. Abiotic characteristics (clay content, bulk density, Ksat, penetration resistance) and the biological activity in the soil were measured for each soil horizon until a depth of at least 40 cm below the pipes (ca. 1.30 m) for 12 representative soil profiles with different land use (pasture with and without collapsed pipes, arable land and forest). No clear discontinuities in abiotic characteristics were observed at soil depths where subsurface pipes occurred, but pastures with piping had significantly more earthworm channels and mole burrows at larger depths than pastures without piping, arable land or forest.

Opis:
Purpose: To establish the dependence of the change in the values of the twisting angle of the flexible pipeline on the internal water pressure and the defect length, which is directed along and across the axis of the sleeve. Design/methodology/approach: Experimental studies were conducted in two stages. At the first stage, the methodology and plan of the experiment were developed, the factors and their values were determined, and experimental studies were conducted. The limits of variation in the area of factor spaces were established based on the basic analysis of a priori information. The length of the defect was 0, 50 and 100 mm. The pressure values in the sleeve were 0.2, 0.4 and 0.6 MPa. Adequacy of the obtained regression equations was checked using Fisher's test. At the second stage, the analysis of the research results was carried out and the numerical values of the factors that most affect the change in the value of the twisting angle of the sleeve were established. Findings: According to the results of experimental studies, the dependences of the change in the twisting angle of the flexible pipeline on the internal water pressure and the length of the defect were obtained. It was established that the dependence of the previously mentioned factors is close to linear. The largest discrepancy in the maximum sleeve twist angle – 21% was observed at pressure values of 0.4 MPa. Research limitations/implications: The research was limited to only two factors: the defect length and the pressure in the middle of the sleeve. Such factors as the degree of wear of the sleeve, the type of sleeve and the number of defects on the test sample were not taken into account. Practical implications: The obtained results can be used during the development of a new method of testing flexible pipelines, which will allow to establish hidden defects in them. Originality/value: For the first time, the dependence of the influence of the size and direction of the defect on the reinforcing frame of the pressure fire hose on the value of its twist angle at constant internal pressure indicators was established.

The problem of finding the parameters of the gas transmission system in terms of its operations under unsteady operating modes are considered. We show mathematical models of gas flows in the basic facilities in the system with a complicated piping diagram. The solution is built to solve a system of partial differentia equations with the finite element method of large dimension with boundary conditions, some of which are designed in the process of solving the system of equations. This is due to the provision of technical and technological constraints on the pressure of the controlled points of the system. On the resistance to finding a solution significantly affects a step of the time coordinate. The proposed algorithm in the editing process of flow diagrams provides an increase in stability of solving systems of equations, and significantly reduces the time for the simulation.
