Opis:
The impact of COVID-19 on the transportation costs of a large-scale company has been examined. Before the pandemic, shift personnel were transported to the factory by shuttles, and after a quick shift change, other shift personnel were transported back to their homes. However, with the implementation of laws mandating the reduction of shuttle seat capacities, transportation costs have risen significantly. To address this issue, a new simultaneous pickup and delivery model is proposed as an alternative to the separate transportation of shift workers. The results of this study indicate that the proposed model provides a substantial advantage in terms of both the number of vehicles used and the total distance traveled, leading to a significant reduction in costs. This research underscores the importance of effective operations research practices for the profitability of companies, particularly in extraordinary circumstances such as the COVID-19 pandemic.

Opis:
The transportation service for the cluster of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) is different with traditional vehicle routing problems. In the cluster of SMEs, parts of enterprises are pickup and delivery spots simultaneously, but some enterprises are partly pickup and delivery simultaneously. It is necessary to optimize this transportation service with an effective mathematics and algorithm to reduce transportation costs for manufacturers. However, traditional mathematics models and algorithms are not suitable to solve the vehicle routing problem partly simultaneous pickup and delivery (VRPPSD) because these items mainly focus on the vehicle routing problem with pickup and delivery simultaneously. In this paper, a mathematics operational model is proposed to analyze the transportation service of the cluster companies and to describe transportation processes. A hybrid algorithm which is composed by tabu search, genetic algorithm and local search is used to optimize the operational model. The crossover and mutation contained by genetic algorithm are used to generate neighborhood solutions for tabu search, and the local search is used to improve optimizing solutions. The data of a cluster of SMEs, investigating from Changzhou city, China, are employed to show the validity of our mathematical model and algorithm. The results indicate that our model and hybrid algorithm is effective to solve VRPPSD. In this paper, the satisfied solutions of VRPPSD are found by hybrid algorithm. At the same time, the results also show that carriers with optimal routs can service customers with more profits (increasing 5.6%). The potential saving of transport cost will increase profits of carriers in SMEs. Sensitivity analyses about adjusting service time and rate of new orders are lunched to analyze how these two factors influence the profits of the VRPPSPD in a dynamic case. A bottleneck that influences the profits is found, and there has a shorter service time which could increase gross profits, but not significantly.

Celem artykułu jest przybliżenie zjawiska subkultury uwodzicieli – pickup artists (PUA), których działalność rozpoczęła się w Stanach Zjednoczonych i głównie dzięki Internetowi pojawiła się na całym świecie, także w Polsce. Obecność subkultury uwodzicieli jest wynikiem przemian, które zaszły w czasach ponowoczesności, i wpisuje się w koncepcję społeczeństwa ryzyka Ulricha Becka. W artykule scharakteryzowano główne cechy społeczności PUA, która posiada własny sposób opisu (języka) oraz świat wartości, co pozwala ją ujmować jako rodzaj subkultury, a także współczesnego ruchu maskulinistycznego wychodzącego naprzeciw pewnym oczekiwaniom mężczyzn w sferze budowania intymnych relacji z kobietami. Przedstawiona została również historia rozwoju zjawiska pickup artists oraz kontrowersje związane z działalnością społeczności uwodzicieli. Sam wzór procesu uwodzenia, zaczerpnięty z jednego z podręczników uwodzenia, opisano przy użyciu koncepcji dramaturgicznej interakcjonisty Ervinga Goffmana, która przedstawia uwodziciela jako aktora, a sam proces uwodzenia określa występem teatralnym.
The aim of the article below is to present the phenomenon of the subculture of seducers – ‘pickup artists’, whose activity began in the United States and mainly thanks to the Internet, appeared all over the world, including Poland. The presence of the seducer subculture is the result of the changes that took place in postmodern times and is part of Ulrich Beck’s concept of ‚risk society’. The article describes the main features of the PUA community, which has its own way of describing (language) and a world of values, which allows it to be perceived as a kind of subculture, as well as the contemporary masculine movement that meets certain expectations of men in the sphere of building intimate relationships with women. The history of the development of the pickup artists phenomenon as well as the controversy related to the activities of the seduction community are also presented. The very pattern of the seduction process, which was taken from one of the seduction textbooks, is described using the dramaturgical concept of the interactionist Erving Goffman, which depicts the seducer as an actor and describes the seduction process as a theatrical performance.

Opis:
The article discusses methods for determining top dead center, based on the analysis of pressure diagrams of a marine engine. The advantages and disadvantages of different methods are shown. Diagnostics of marine engines during operation and the selection of optimal operating conditions is based on the analysis of gas pressure diagrams, as well as fuel supply and gas distribution diagrams. As a result of the analysis of the pressure diagrams, the indicator engine power is calculated, which is further used in the management of engine operation modes, in the calculation of specific indicators, as well as in the calculation of energy efficiency coefficients of marine vessels according to International Maritime Organization recommendations. The influence of the accuracy of determining the position of the top dead center on the calculation of the mean indicated pressure and indicator power is shown. The authors considered a method for determining top dead center, based on the solution of the equation P’= 0, which provides the required accuracy in calculating the mean indicated pressure and indicator power of the engine during operation. It is shown that the method can be applicable in marine engine working process monitoring systems as an alternative to hardware methods for determining the top dead center.
