The paper discusses particular modes of audiovisual self-consciousness in autothematic and highly (self )reflexive films, equipped with “empowered” devices of narration that question popular conventions of portraying physical otherness. Living in Oblivion (1995), Storytelling (2001), Jeremy the Dud (2017), and Chained for Life (2018) are analysed in contexts of lowering narrative illusion methods of managing “troublesome bodies” on screen, as well as the long tradition of “disabling” portrayals of visible dissimilarities (e.g. little person as oneiric figure, inspiring “supercrip” stereotype).

Background: This study was based on gender differences in male and female trained tennis players. Aim of the study: The aim of this study was to determine the extent that physical training could minimize the gender differences in lung capacities in trained tennis players aged 14–17 years. Material and methods: The participants were ten male and seven female lawn tennis players, with a mean ± standard deviation (SD) age of 15.5 ± 1.27 and 14.43 ± 1.13 years, respectively. Physical characteristics and lung volumes were measured on the same day for each participant. Data were presented as mean ± SD, and Student’s t-test to compare the measured variables was performed. Results: Differences between genders were insignificant in terms of age (years), weight (kg), body fat (%), lean body mass (kg) and chest circumference (cm). However, height (cm), and W/H ratio were significantly (p < 0.05) higher in male tennis players in comparison to female players. Insignificant differences were found for TV (L), SVC (L), FVC (L), FEV1 (L), FEV1/FVC (%), FEF25-75% (L/s), PEF (L/s) and MVV (L/min). The only significant difference (p < 0.05) in lung function measures between male and female trained tennis players was for PIF (L/s). Conclusions: Male tennis players were taller than female tennis players of same age range, which might be advantageous for males while playing. Insignificant differences between male and female players in the various lung variables measured indicated that the influence of height and gender differences could be minimized by proper training during puberty. A significantly higher PIF in male players indicated stronger and more powerful inspiratory muscle activity compared with female tennis players.

Opis:
Sound synthesis using mathematical modelling of musical instruments is a method particularly well suited for live performance using a physical controller. Depending on model complexity, it may be able to reproduce various subtle phenomena related to excitation and real time control of an instrument, providing an intuitive tool for a musician. A variant of physical modelling synthesis, referred to as the simulation of infeasible instruments, uses a model of an object that does not have a physical counterpart. Such model has some properties of a real object, which makes it still intuitive for a musician. However, other features, such as geometry, or material properties, are intentionally altered in such manner, that it could not function in reality. These infeasible features introduce new properties to the sound it produces. The study presents a few such models with a discussion regarding their implementation and control issues in a real-time sound synthesizer.

Opis:
The Penal Code presently in force provides for a “person living in actual co-habitation” and it stipulates in Article 115 § 11 the definition of “the person next of kin”. According to the invoked provision “the person next of kin shall be a spouse, ascendant, descendant, brother or sister, a relative in the same line or degree, a person being an adopted relation as well as his spouse, and also a person living in actual co-habitation.” Numerous differences and doubts arise in the doctrine and judicature when one attempts to decode the term “a person living in actual co-habitation” as it has not been strictly defined by the legislator. The results of its interpretation by way of linguistic, systematic and functional directives lead to the conclusion that the term contained in Article 115 § 11 of the Penal Code “a person living in actual co-habitation” indicates a person living with another person in such a factual relationship, where there are between them simultaneously spiritual, physical and economic bonds. It is possible to establish the existence of a relation of “living in actual co-habitation” also when the lack of one of such bonds is objectively justified. The difference of the sexes of persons living in such co-habitation is not a requisite condition to establish that they actually live in co-habitation within the meaning of Article 115 § 11 of the Penal Code.

Opis:
In this research, mathematical modeling of a duct heater has been performed using energy conservation law, Stefan-Boltzman law in thermal radiation, Fourier’s law in conduction heat transfer, and Newton’s law of cooling in convection heat transfer. The duct was divided to some elements with equal length. Each element has been studied separately and air physical properties in each element have been used based on its temperature. The derived equations have been solved using the finite difference method and consequently air temperature, internal and external temperatures of the wall, internal and external convection heat transfer coeffi cients, and the quantity of heat transferred have been calculated in each element and effects of the variation of heat transfer parameters have been surveyed. The results of modelling presented in this paper can be used for the design and optimization of heat exchangers.
