- This article is devoted to analysing and interpretating various images of postmodern philistine. Author focuses on two different types of townspeople. First presents careerists who live in big cities; they dream about fullfilling their American Dream, sometimes forgetting about moral rules which are important in postmodern reality. They not only cheat, but also betray their fiancées. Careerists easily lose their money, spending on parties, alcohol and other different addictions. They are interested in taking part in modern reality contrary to bigots, who criticise contemporary world. Bigots do not understand modern society; they associate different patterns of life with evil that destroy not only country, but also the whole patriarchal world. These two images of postmodern philistine are similar to those which appeared in the end of the 19th century.
